4201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's in the game, after all? on: January 17, 2020, 08:46:54 AM
In my opinion, gambling is one way to get away with boredom, it is like entertaining yourself and at the same time, you're getting monetary rewards if you're lucky. Every one of us look at gambling differently some gamble because of the reason that it can be a good way to earn big money right away but some gamble just to have fun and entertain themselves, regardless of how we look at it it should be done in moderation as to avoid unnecessary losses.
Gambling is aiming for money, we can play games for boredom or other activities that will not require money. But since we wanted while we're playing is that there is still money that may involve as earning so gambling happens. We just need only to know how to discipline ourselves when we're playing it.
Or else for personal choice. Whereby the person make up their mind not to fume or get discouraged nor frustrated when they lose in a game. One can make gambling all about the fun but I believe this will not be for too long. Most times in gambling we lose more than we gain, there is no way one will be deriving fun and amusement when they are losing.

Well, some say winning or losing doesn't bother them. I guess they mean the fun/entertainment part helps counter any negative mood that results from losing. The "mood" is probably there to discourage us from gambling continuously... Suppressing it with something the victim is probably not aware of, is not a good idea.
4202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here dream of achieving their financial goal in life through gambling? on: January 17, 2020, 08:05:30 AM
For people who does not have enough income to live a comfortable life, we try to find ways to end the struggle, we take big risk to gain big rewards so if we will be successful, we don't need to work anymore and just enjoy the rest of our life    doing the things that we can't do due to lack of money.

are you one of the people who dream like this?

As long as that thing is productive... i mean you can change someone else's life positively with what comes out of "doing the things that we can't do due to lack of money." And your "products" have to be very safe for other people
4203  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Night @ Sportsbet (Private game exclusively for forum members) on: January 17, 2020, 06:42:08 AM
Sounds interesting. Will participants use their Bitcointalk Usernames or something? I probably will just watch members play and see how well everything goes. Hope watching is allowed.
Will probably set an alarm for this
4204  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Ballet wallet safe to store bitcoin? on: January 17, 2020, 06:23:15 AM
I learned it's a none electronic hardware wallet like the size of  a debit card and private keys/address. My only  problems with this is that the private keys are not generated by the owners of wallet.  Owning one would be ok if the company is very trustworthy and that they have in no way seen the keys nor have any copy. Problem is how do you know the company is honest.
4205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining crypto by walking on: January 17, 2020, 05:47:26 AM
I like the idea too... though I haven't tried it before.
It could be viable if well built. The developers probably need to take into consideration the possibility of people cheating to earn and dump.
Lots of things will need to be put in place to keep people on the network...like a marketplace, a social media for joggers/runners/sports people etc..

How about mining difficulty? I guess if it becomes difficult to mine, people will stop exercising.
4206  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC to GOLD on: January 17, 2020, 04:48:40 AM
Probably good to convert some, get the physical gold and keep it somewhere safe.
Hope people don't only convert and collect mere certificates. Holding the real thing and long term storage should matter more, but I wouldn't put too much hope on these things in this current world.
I guess if you don't have the physical gold, you don't have any gold yet
4207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's talk about backed (and not) Stablecoins - GOLD token 100% backed by gold. on: January 16, 2020, 01:53:03 PM
Interesting.
If you ask me to choose any of the stablecoin, especially the one that will be most reliable, decentralized, can't be seized in the future or does not depend on fiat for stability... none really qualify but DIA is probably safer
4208  Other / Off-topic / Re: World Calamity on: January 16, 2020, 12:51:08 PM
Something way worse is coming. If you don't believe me, still prepare as if something worse is coming.

Only believing in the true MESSIAH, grace, living a sin free life, and prayers, will save you.

I used to think my personal efforts will help me in this life... when I found out how to be truly saved, my life has never been thesame.

4209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Warning! 20 days are over! BCNEX likely a scam exchange now! on: January 16, 2020, 10:40:10 AM
They probably did that on purpose to prevent the customers from withdrawing in large number and crash the price.
As regards whether it's a scam exchange or not, I would suggest you post the exchange website, maybe it's even a phishing site you sent your funds to. The giveaway thing is popular among scammers and people who want crypto ruined.
4210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No one ever sells, nor buys anything in BitCoin.. Think this is wrong, read on! on: January 16, 2020, 09:38:37 AM
Bitcoin is a unique currency. It's not meant to be like fiat.
One of the reasons it was created is to address the fiat inflation problem. Besides, if you remove the deflation feature you could aswell remove other important features when it suits you.

I think applications built ontop Bitcoin could be used to address some of the challenges or perceived problems of Bitcoin instead of trying all the time to change Bitcoin or even trying to control it centrally.

You could create a special marchant application to keep Bitcoin price stable for only the application users... while price continues to remain volatile on main markets. The app could be built to wrap Bitcoin around stablecoin like tether. And the normal Bitcoin symbol (with small "s"... s for stable) could be used on the price tag.    With this app, a 10,000 worth of car could be tagged at "10,000sBTC".    When a car buyer sees a Bitcoin symbol, that should be slightly different from the normal Bitcoin symbol, he/she knows it is for Stable-Bitcoin. He downloads the payment app and makes payments.
The seller can set the app to unwrap the bitcoin back  to the normal volatile market value.
4211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Much Money You Need To Win To Stop gambling, Is This Possible. on: January 16, 2020, 08:36:11 AM
Personally, I don't have a limit on how much money I win to stop playing gambling. Because what I feel right now when I win a lot later on, I keep playing. Maybe until finally I get tired I will really stop.
gamblers don't get tired to stop, but what made them decide to stop?if they lost their money and family, this is the starting point that they will think and start doing things correctly because in some scenarios a gambler that losses everything turns out to committing Suicide to be free from addiction.

that is why if time comes that we got to win huge?better decide to quit or stay forever as a gambler.

This is probably true for all luck-based gambling.

But I think skillful gamblers could actually do well long-term on skill-based gambling if they keep learning new skills to improve on their skills.
4212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright provided the list of addresses that contains 1.1 million btc on: January 16, 2020, 08:04:58 AM
This can easily be disproved if we can see the addresses first. I suspect many contradictions will be discovered once the addresses are made public.
By the way, hope the court will get him to sign all the address to prove he owns them(this isn't good enough proof though).
The number of the addresses has been quoted already assuming the article is reliable/credible
4213  Economy / Gambling / Re: playwithbitcoin.net | Top 9 Online casinos for Cryptocurrencies on: January 16, 2020, 07:47:16 AM
Why are the "Play Now" links on your site shortened with url shortener? I had to check the PlayNow button urls before clicking on them but the shortened urls discouraged me from going further. Would have clicked on them if you already have a good reputation on this forum. Your copper badge is good but a good reputation would've been an additional advantage.
4214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 16, 2020, 07:03:41 AM
if the gambler told that he/she do it for fun and not to earn or to recover her/his losses an alternative is to download casino games and play using game tokens for free.

Agree.
Anyone who plays only for fun could just play the free versions of what they are addicted to. They could play with peers and win and lose points instead of money. I guess this will give them the thrill of betting and losing with real money
4215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency will not replace fiat currency on: January 15, 2020, 06:49:57 PM
This probably for people who are only interested in making money. They hardly look at principles. A 2 dollar coin with solid crypto principles is way more valuable than a 200 dollar coin with little to no principle. Besides, promoting the latter atall or more than real thing, might be considered an indirect promotion of anti-crypto ideals
4216  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When trading, never ignore the statoshi value of your coins on: January 15, 2020, 03:02:44 PM
I think you could hold and trade at the same time to see what works best for you. People could feel pressured or frustrated if you keep insisting that they hold everything. I'd rather teach them to combine both for their own safety, if they can. Not really a good idea to keep all your eggs in one basket. Decentralize as much as you can.
4217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Richard Heart of Hex against Tone Vays on Hex, who's the winner on: January 15, 2020, 02:40:08 PM
Seems like he wasn't trying to build a decentralized project otherwise the CEO tag wouldn't be necessary.
This kind of debate shouldn't arise in the first place.. afterall he's building on a decentralized censorship resistant space. I think if he develops something that works,  safe and up to standard, no one will be able to stop him. That is why we have crypto in the first place. I honestly don't understand why the developer made too much noise about the project. There are lots of few good project that ordinarily wouldn't go anywhere if the developers hadn't built them quietly and within the decentralized world. I guess any project that fail the censorship resistant test or any other crypto standard test, doesn't deserve to succeed. It's pretty easy to build good things in this space without getting censored or stopped like in real world.
4218  Economy / Economics / Re: Do Not Blame Bitcoin, No Government Want To Make Its Citizen Millionaire on: January 15, 2020, 10:36:55 AM
You think only fiat currencies coming into crypto increase the price of Bitcoin? I think a well built decentralized community could also contribute greatly to price increase. If things are built in such a way that people depend less on typical governments, why would anyone then worry about wage increase from government? I think it would be better to be less dependent on governments for long-term/sustained benefits. I strongly believe decentralization/crypto can help in this regard.
4219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's in the game, after all? on: January 15, 2020, 09:46:06 AM
So what's your take on this? What's in the game for those of us who are not looking for anything other than personal enjoyment and amusement? Be specific!
In my opinion, when they say "Personal Enjoyment" I think what they mean is stress-reliever. Maybe for some, "Personal Enjoyment" for them is bonding with other friends thru gambling

It can be a stress-reliever of sorts

However, there are many stress-relievers out there (as they say, drugs, sex, and rock'n'roll), and each approach to this goal of relieving stress is markedly different from others. Put differently, there are various ways of dealing with stress, and what I'm interested in is finding out what makes gambling a stress-reliever, i.e. what emotions it causes, or rather, what idea triggers a particular emotion that makes us feel happy after a win
~

When we seek only winning from gambling, it can hardly be a stress-reliever for us, at least most of the time it can't. But gambling is a stress-reliever regardless of whether we win or lose. When we gamble our brain switches from contemplating negative thoughts to something much more simpler, such as "Can I win $2 with this bet or not?" And we are relaxing during this time, and feel better afterwards. That's why it's very important to not bet with big amounts, because this kind of gambling only makes your stress worse, in most cases.

Very interesting one.
I guess the problem is that you have to keep gambling to maintain the "stress relief" state or euphoria you get from it else you go back to your former state... unless you have something else better & safer to relieve you from stress and sadness/depression.
I think it's better to get ones stress-relief from something more beneficial
4220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK gamblers cannot use Credit Cards for gambling from April 14, 2020 on: January 15, 2020, 08:36:57 AM
Well, it is not a good idea to take big risk with borrowed money. The lenders are probably worried or protecting themselves knowing that the chances of the borrowers paying back on time or even atall is low.
People could guarantee they'll pay back on time before borrowing. That guarantee could come in form of collateral. But who will take such a risk? If no one, why then take big risk with people's money?
