This is awesome! 1btc bounty + admin on my server if you finish it, complete with some AMD colored GPUs ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) You might have to scale it up quite a bit to be able to detail it better, but it looks sweet right now. Haha, thanks. Just finished it a bit ago. I originally was going for twice the scale (8x the volume), but decided it was too big to get done in a practical amount of time. It would have been sweet though! If anyone wants to see it, it's on the server at IP play.minecraftcc.com. Head to the creative world, then to the coords 1400, 700. Specs are: 1000w Corsair PSU 3x Sapphire Xtreme 5850's 4GB G.Skill RAM Some sort of Intel processor ASUS P9X79 PRO ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FRZfZ9.png&t=663&c=KO5NkgapXbzHjw)

These units were designed to run in a commercial temp controlled enviroment @ 72 degrees f.Since they are not being run in such an enviroment,i.e. homes & offices where temp is not a mandatory 72 degrees,we are seeing these "overheat" issues.IMO.Plus the varience on a chip by chip basis as well. Its was a choice they made when designing these devices.Personally I think it wasn't a good decision.Knowing full well the general public was going eat these up like candy. I'm an A/C install & service tech & know of very few people who keep thier homes @ 72 f.It's more like 76-82 f. I am not attacking BTW.I'm just stating things as I see them ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) It's a great product & I'm very happy with it ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) My unit runs @ 760 mh/s consistantly (on the 768 FW,even at 89 degrees room temp ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) ) & I will at later date try to improve that by changing the grease & maybe an improved HS/fan setup,I'm still thinking ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I'm also watching these BFL threads & other FPGA threads for ideas ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Exactly. All 10 of mine were absolutely fine with no throttling whatsoever in my 72F office. I have a dedicated window A/C in there to keep things cool, and have it set at 70 (by the time the air is around to the miners, it's probably 72). I only have 4 left, but have upgraded them all to the 872 MH/s firmware, and still zero throttling. I think people are trying to expect too much of them out of environments that are hotter than 72F.

I bet someone that has a high capacity CNC machine that releases a water block for these would make bank. I wish I knew how to mill.
If someone designs one, I have access to machines...

A simple way to get started is to collect BTC at GLBSE, and invest into a pre-existing Real Estate Investment Trust, then distribute the dividends back through GLBSE. If that grows big enough, you can grow into buying and managing actual properties.
Good idea as well, thanks for the suggestion!

I'm somewhat surprised there isn't more excitement for something that isn't pirate related, but glad that it looks like I'll get all the shares I can afford.
The more real businesses we get on the exchange, the better.
+1 I was interested, but the company is vastly overvalued, IMO. I think when I calculated it, the per-share IPO puts the valuation of the company at $43,000 or so. It's just not worth that much given the past earnings.

Ok. Well, I was going to build a complete mining tower computer, but didn't get far enough. I'll post what I have though, because I still think it's pretty sweet looking. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F3Te0k.jpg&t=663&c=oRESmcGaAeielA) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FLWmZX.jpg&t=663&c=Je55Qv5DDETxcg)

Out of fairness to the current entries I'll leave the current deadline in place. Maybe I'll run another one after this. Any suggestions on other ______ AND btc related art contests are welcome.
Can you specify when the exact deadline is? Is it 48 hours from the original post, or at the end of the current day in some timezone?

Any chance you'd want to extend the competition? I have a good idea, but need more time to complete it.

Haha, tempting, but I'd want to buy property near me so I could inspect it myself, etc.

Where do you show the confirmed winners? All I see is people posting their tickets but no one actually commenting on winning.
Most people don't want their facebook profiles (along with real name and whatever other info they have posted there) to be associated with their online forum profiles. I know if I won, I wouldn't be posting here confirming it.

i don't know .. i would rather like if the group was managed by a senior in real-estate investments. someone who knows the market, knows prices, knows developement..
real-estate is quite a difficult field, where you have to take alot of factors into account..
Thanks for the input. It might be difficult to find someone who is an expert in real estate investing who doesn't already have loads of money, and would scoff at whatever amount could be conjured up by forum members here, but you never know! I might look in to that, see if I can find anyone local.

Digging it! I have almost a 2% chance of winning 1st place, but hey, it COULD happen! Of course, knowing my luck, I won't be even close... the only block I've found for BitMinter was orphaned! ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

So chips are not sanded, it's the heat spreader what we see when someone removes the heatsink...
spiccioli.
The heatspreader is an integral part of the chip packaging, they don't apply it themselves. ... and they should hopefully stop sanding them since we all now know that the chip is an EP3SL150 (just not sure if they are new or 2nd hand) Correct me if this isn't really a big deal, but aren't rough chip surfaces really bad for heat transfer? I saw some articles about ppl buffing their GPU heatsinks to a shine prior to installing them. Yes, but more important is that the surfaces are even. In other words, you should be able to take a razorblade and put it across the chip in any direction, and not see any gaps where light can shine through. I'm not sure that it would be feasible to lap the chips as they sit on the board though... so much could get in the way on all the edges, and you don't want to accidentally discharge static electricity to the board while you're rubbing it with sandpaper! In other words, I wouldn't advise anyone to do it. But, I would love to see someone try and see what the results are! i would be more concerned with the metal dust you'd be blanketing the board in. Yeah, that's a fair point as well. Would definitely need to blow it off real good with a strong can of air or an air compressor. has anyone upgraded to the 872 firmware? If so, how has the performance been?
Yes - 855 MH/s using the BitMinter miner.

So dumb luck... Actually - 2 of my 6 won't run without throttling at 816 so maybe I lost in the end ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Also - can confirm that all 6 were shipped with 816 firmware. Are you sure that's what they shipped with, or is that just their current hashing speed? I didn't get anywhere close to 832 MH/s while running them stock. And on the 872 MH/s firmware, I get 855 MH/s on each of them.

I think the post just outlined the fact that their hands are tied. They can't talk about the situation directly, at this point. They agree that it's BS that they can't answer the questions, but they aren't the ones to make the decision about what can and cannot be spoken about.

Ok, I'll try a game or two as well. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Waiting on funds to hit... EDIT: This is definitely a service that should take advantage of 0-conf transactions.

There were a few last minute issues with the printer, so we all were misinformed a bit here. Also Adam probably implied whole handling and shipping process not the timing of it being picked up by the carrier. We had quite a few surprises sprung up on us in the last second, like some strange USPS forms needed to be filed all of the sudden etc.
Ok, that's cool. Glad someone from the team finally decided to respond directly to this thread though. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Why would you care if they respond through this thread? This is Bruno’s thread. The official Magazine thread was closed long ago. Because, I wanted answers...? I couldn't care less whether it's an official thread or not.

Wonder if Rackspace can retrieve deleted backups...
Glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Rackspace should have had their own set of backups for business continuity reasons (they don't want to tell a bunch of their clients that a server died and had data loss) so if a person contacts them ASAP, there's chance of recovery. I also know they won't want to keep many versions, so a guy will want to contact them sooner than later. In fact, if the consultancy hasn't already contacted them to ask, its probably too late. Just my .02 btc. Yeah, it's likely they would only keep a day or a week's worth of backups. Hopefully, that was on the forefront of whoever was dealing with this mess on day 1. I know backups would've been the first thing I would ask about in the event that all of my servers got deleted.
