Did you ever wonder why merits are so difficult to earn? I have noticed that mostly the higher members of this forum received more merit even their post, comments, and replies are too shorts.

This is why the Merit system was introduced.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

Members that have been here a long time are more likely to have more knowledge and post useful stuff. Content quality isn't measured in post length.
4222  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 09, 2018, 09:27:29 AM
Okay cool.
I had redeemed 333,333 RP almost 10 days back and have also raised 2 'tickets' ( in the faq page ). Am just wondering if that is just lost in the haystack of mails.

We do get thousands of messages through the FAQ page every day so it is possible that it got missed. PM me your user ID and I'll ask wetsuit to check it out for you.

@tuanytcc

I know how to deal with it, but sometimes i searched and i didnt find anything, thats why i asked the question, maybe @TheQuin have another trick how to do it which i dont know.

Just good old simple Google search taking a small sample text enclosed in "" usually finds it pretty quick. That particular one was so obviously a news article with "Is it true" written in front of it.
4224  Other / Meta / Re: Are you ready for 2,000,000? on: April 09, 2018, 05:42:22 AM
The next milestone should be reaching 1,000,000 active users! We're slightly beneath that mark today.

Not sure if we will ever reach that.  The active users (ones that have logged in within last 90 days, or having trust or posts) is dropping...

So many accounts were just created and never used in the last few months...

It is down to 887,673 right now. Do you know what the peak number was? It will interesting to see if the decrease accelerates 90 days after 24th Jan when Merit was introduced as I'd guess a lot of account farmers gave up then.
4225  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why have the fees so drastically dropped ? on: April 09, 2018, 05:28:15 AM
If that was true why not call them mining hubs? Do you have any evidence to support the claim?

Yes lots, try looking at the word "Fees" in this document https://lightning.network/lightning-network-paper.pdf
or see the network map that is sure as hell is not mama and poppa small time banking you know.
https://lnmainnet.gaben.win/

Let me get this straight. You use the pejorative term 'banking hubs' so I ask you to point out any lightning node owned and operated by a bank. So you then say that any node with more than 20 channels open is 'ran by miners' (sic). Leaving aside how laughable it is to call someone running an S9 a financial institution I ask you if you have any evidence to support that claim. You come back with the number of times 'fees'  is mentioned in the whitepaper and the link to a network map. ROFL.

Looking at the network map there is an interesting data box in the top left corner.

Quote
Nodes   1435
Channels   4629
Total Capacity   1,188,114,777.00 sat ($84,957.93 USD)
Total Fees   too tiny

That's right the fees are too tiny to measure.

Other than that the map shows a textbook example of a decentralised, meshed, hub and spoke network architecture.

without having a bent moderators with a vested interest in this subject

Your inability to follow a simple set of forum rules != censorship.
4226  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: freebitco.in "Browser Mining" - is it worth it? on: April 09, 2018, 05:04:33 AM
I never tried using their Mining because I don't want to put my laptop at risk since I have my important documents here. I used their faucet though and played the dice game. They give good amount in their faucet last year but faucet farming is not really a good choice so I stopped.

There is absolutely no risk to your laptop from mining. Processors are designed and manufactured to do processing and they don't suffer by being used.

Freebitco.in isn't just a faucet, we offer the chance to win big.
4227  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 08, 2018, 03:10:46 PM

Merit can get from people, but only if their views and the person are the same and they see fit!

Admin has mentioned in OP that you should not give merit to  a person just because you agree to his post.

Here are some of the facts to consider while giving merits:

1) It should be based on how much useful that post is for the forum.

2) If someone has responded to query of a user in very less time, it should be given preference while giving merits.

Actually, he very clearly did not say that.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

'I encourage' is not telling people what they should or shouldn't do. It is just a pointer as to what he would prefer. In the end, the decision belongs to the individual as to how they spend their sMerit.
4228  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Big wins at FreeBitco.in on: April 08, 2018, 01:00:03 PM
@lruoissa

Go to the Multiply BTC tab and find the roll in the ROLL HISTORY. That's the screenshot if you didn't take it on the free rolls tab when it happened.

Edit:
It needs to be of the actual win, not the history.

Is my English so bad? Or Am I antipathic guy Sad

In some of your posts your English is perfect but unfortunately, that's because you are a plagiarist.

4230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin still dropping? on: April 08, 2018, 11:44:27 AM
Why still dropping rapidly?

It isn't.

https://www.tradingview.com/x/W7IxdMYs

It bottomed out on the 6th February and has been consolidating since then. That's a not a prediction as to what will happen next but it is wrong to say that it is still dropping rapidly.
4231  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Concern on: April 08, 2018, 09:57:10 AM
This thread is a fucking train wreck lol.

~

Apparently, you don’t understand what the merit system is and what it’s designed to do, which is to stop users like you from ranking up.

Amen to that. The whole point of Merit is that getting paid to rent out your signature space to advertisers is a privilege that needs to be earned. The spam problems here all stem from when signatures were tied to rank and all anyone had to do to rank up was spam 14 posts every two weeks. Now people have to actually contribute some worthwhile content to the forum to rank up and get a bigger signature.

The merit system is obviously a success, but I don't think it can be a solution on it's own. Without incorporating rank into posting abilities, spammers can still flood the board with attempts to gain merit, and to display low value signatures. Until posting on the major boards is restricted to Junior members or above, the pollution will continue. Another useful change would be the locking of threads after useless necro-bumps.

This might just be my optimistic nature but I think they'll give up and go away after a while. Looking at the number of active accounts on Vod's site it is down to 885,935 and decreasing by the day since Merit was introduced. That's the account farmers that left first and eventually all the ones that came here because they found some blog post about how to earn money on the internet will work out it is too difficult for them.
4232  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Big wins at FreeBitco.in on: April 08, 2018, 08:37:45 AM
Just a reminder...

I have also asked them to post their winning seeds and a screenshot of their win to get the reward.

You need to make sure you post a screenshot of the win to claim your $5 in Bitcoin.
4233  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: April 08, 2018, 08:01:58 AM
Did I just read that creating another account when one is banned is against the rule too? When I joined Bitcointalk newly through an airdrop program that required us to post in the official ANN of the project, my account got banned after few weeks of engaging in such activities, probably because I had nothing substantial to say than just to praise the coin/token or the developers. I was just a newbie that had no knowledge on how blockchain technology works so the comments I made was related to the comments I saw in the threads. Generic comments like "great project", " nice project", "to the moon" etc. I placed an appeal for repeal of the ban and up to today, not even an acknowledgement did I receive let alone honouring nor turning down the appeal. In that case, I should have just left Bitcointalk community forum then?

That is correct, if the ban was not just temporary you should have left the forum.

25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.

The ban applies to you as a person, not just the account. In reality that is pretty difficult to enforce so many banned people do come back.
4234  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 08, 2018, 07:50:59 AM
Thanks for the response . Yeah I meant redeeming Reward points against egifter coupons - which do not need to be shipped. But an online coupon code with which can get egifter coupons. For 333,333 RP , you can get $25 egifter coupons i guess.
Has anyone done any sort of redemption with the RPs ?

I'm waiting for wetsuit and confirm how long it takes. I read the text on the site to mean that physical deliveries take a week to process but I don't see why an email would. I'll let you know as soon as I have a firm answer. We have had a lot of redemptions but most of our customers are not on this forum so that's probably why nobody answered.

Redemptions of reward points for both gift tokens and physical items are processed manually roughly once a week so it could take a little while.

My brother and I have two accounts and one is referral to another. Today he got  9989 on free roll and about 2300 satoshi, but referral doesnot get anything ( before will get 1/2) from that value

Hash to verify

~

Please pm me both user id's. This should never happen, everyone should get commissions for each roll. You can go through your bet history in the MULTIPLY BTC page around that time to see if there are any changes to the balance. The commissions will not show up as credit there but your balance will have changed by the amount of the commissions.

I sent you PM with data you needed

Just to let everyone know there was no problem with the referral system here. It just turned out one account was not referred to the other.

4235  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: April 08, 2018, 05:05:06 AM
They're really ramping up the coins listed in them these days. I've been out of the loop when it comes to Bitfinex and I just want to check if they're accepting now USD deposits (through wire transfer)? I believe they closed it down few months ago and didn't have the chance to check if they bring it back. These newly added coins in their exchange are tempting me to deposit some USD to them. Any information regarding my question is much appreciated.  Wink

Yes. USD deposits and withdrawals have been back for verified accounts for a while now. They also added EUR deposits and withdrawals. The most recent addition is GBP and JPY trading pairs although there is no deposit or withdraw option for those yet.
4236  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 07, 2018, 04:37:48 PM
Sorry about the delay in payments the last few days, we had a few users making large withdrawals which drained our hot wallets and created a backlog in sending payments out. We have a better hot-wallet refill policy in place now which should hopefully minimize such issues in the future.

A few points to clarify the re-branding:

  • The re-branding and addition of new coins will not happen suddenly, it will be done over a period of a few months and we shall send 3 emails over this time so that pretty much all of our users are aware before the name change.
  • We have the freebitco.in name registered until 2025 so even after the name change, all freebitco.in links will work as usual (no need to change banner or referral links etc.) and everyone visiting freebitco.in will be seamlessly directed to the new website with a message informing them of the re-brand.
  • All coins will have all of the features that bitcoin has but I am yet undecided about the lottery (maybe it will be a combined one with the prize paid out in the currency of the users choice)
  • Users will be able to claim only 1 coin every hour to begin with but hopefully I can increase the limits eventually.

The re-brand is part of a process to make freebitco.in more than just a faucet. My plan is to implement a no-KYC shapeshift.io style exchange after the rebrand to enable users to exchange between coins instantly. I feel like we have outgrown the freebitco.in name and the rebrand will allow us to do a lot more stuff without people associating the website with being just a faucet which somewhat restricts our growth now.

Will our reward points or balances from freebitco.in disappear or stay the same?

We haven't started planning yet but I can assure you that you won't lose any balance, rewards points, referrals or anything else.
4237  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 07, 2018, 12:53:26 PM
Thank you ... i guess it will be a long while til I get the full roll bonus back.  I was wondering when a user mines on the site , does the site make anything or just the user?

It uses the Coinhive miner and they take a 30% fee, we pass all of that on to you and don't take anything. I think it was added as a bit of PR thing to get people interested in Bitcoin and mining.

We tidied up the front page a bit and removed the mining link.

You can still mine using the link:

mining.freebitco.in/mining.html?userid=XXXXXX

Obviously, replace XXXXXX with your own user ID.

Another change you will notice is that the weekly withdrawal fee has been reduced to the current slow withdrawal fee capped at a maximum 3000 sats.
4239  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 07, 2018, 12:20:06 PM
Hey theQuin ... what happened to the mining feature ?? I am not a bot nor do I use one ,  and usually run mining in the backround or overnight ... depends on what kind of day i am having ...  my ID is 8564269 . I'm actually one of those few that doesn't sleep alot. And yes , my claims have been halved for some time now. It's not fair to take away from users that don't use bots.

It's still there we just tidied up the front page a bit.

You can access mining using the link

mining.freebitco.in/mining.html?userid=8564269

Obviously, everyone else replace with your own user ID.

Another change you will notice is that the weekly withdrawal fee has been reduced to the current slow withdrawal fee capped at a maximum 3000 sats.

Full answer to the lowered rewards in this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=319540.msg33832461#msg33832461

You are right that it is not fair that people exploit us with bots and force us to reduce the rewards but we have no other options.
4240  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 07, 2018, 12:15:34 PM
* - mainly in that certain subfora seem to be all but ignored by merit sources, despite having a higher than average signal-to-noise ratio; e.g. - altcoins\mining is not nearly as afflicted by sig-campaign shitposters as the other altcoins subfora (or even the bitcoin subfora, from what little I've observed), but few posts are receiving merit.

That's equally true of the Bitcoin mining section which is disappointing as mining an area that people will get involved when they first get interested in Bitcoin and crypto. It really needs someone from those areas to step forward and apply to become a Merit source.
