4221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: March 20, 2022, 08:06:47 PM
Big congrats to Ferrari. They seem to have nailed it for this year.
Leclerc and Sainz have done a long awaited 1-2, with some luck indeed, but still something.
But while 3 Redbull have abandoned, and even the Haas Ferrari had a significantly good performance and both Alfa Romeo Ferrari came out with points too.

I guess that Mercedes will improve their cars, I guess that RedBull will fix their problems, I hope that McLaren will fix their braking system, but Ferrari getting it this right this early is probably a first, at least from what I remember.

It's an interesting start of the year. I loved the (rather short) battle between Charles and Max.
The only really unpleasant surprise was how bad are the tyres..., although McLaren was certainly a bad surprise too (and Aston Martin again).

PS: coinlocket$ did you bet? I surely hope so!
4222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Bitcoin, No fun for you! on: March 20, 2022, 12:58:42 PM
A lot of mobile wallets are out there can really make that happen and if other prostitutes around the world get inspired by this article they can also start to accept Bitcoin. The only problem that I see here would be the fees because where I am located you can sometimes in some remote villages find a prostitute for just 5 EUR or like 10-20 EUR in cities,I am not talking about escorts that cost like 300-500 EUR for night. Many people would be turned down by fees if fees in the Bitcoin network are high at the moment of the "meeting".

So it's a big problem if for the 5-20 EUR you will have to pay some 10-50 cents extra for the fee?
Or you were talking about/mixing up with the fees for withdrawing from an exchange?!
4223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have 3 important questions on: March 20, 2022, 12:56:09 PM
1. Attacker might able to steal private key after user make a transaction from special address, but how do you plan to prevent this accident?

I don't see any relation between the alleged theft and the use of a "special address". Are you sure you understand how bitcoin works?
But a private key can be stolen, OK. One can learn to keep the keys safe. If one doesn't trust himself, he can try to use others' services (but imho those can easily be riskier).

2. How do someone veto a transaction which made by attacker where we can verify who's the owner or attacker without compromise owner privacy?

Veto? Well, use m-of-n wallets if you want to. But after a transaction is signed, sent and confirmed, it's gone and you cannot veto.

3. Assuming a transaction is reversed, that means blocks would become invalid since it's hash (along with all next blocks) will become invalid? How do you plan to solve this problem?

This assumption of yours is wrong: after properly confirmed, it won't be reversed. There's no problem to solve.

You seem to rise problems caused by insufficient knowledge of Bitcoin. No offense, but you should start with the start and read/understand the basics; afterwards you can think about what can go wrong.. based on what's actually possible.
Just my 2 satoshi.

4224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Bitcoin, No fun for you! on: March 20, 2022, 12:39:48 PM
So, do you see this trend going on and become nothing relevant or not, and at the same time do you think the authorities will try and squash this before it gets any traction and will of course harm their efforts of currency control even more?

Prostitution is one of the oldest forms of business that cannot be "squashed" and don't care about what would make the governments sleep well, instead, all they care about is the income.
It could become a trend. It could show that you don't have to be rocket computer scientist to get to benefit from Bitcoin and it could make the.. erm...customers... think a bit and give bitcoin a chance.
4225  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]Bounty pool - Royse777 [Monthly payment in BTC] on: March 20, 2022, 12:14:14 PM
Sorry about the confusion - promoting Royse's campaign management services in your avatar/personal message is not against the rules. For context, the PM you received was sent to everyone in the campaign, and was not meant to specifically target anyone. Please don't hesitate to message me in the future if something is unclear.

It was not your fault, it was us overthinking it Cheesy Thank you for clearing up though!

@NeuroticFish You can put on Royse777's avatar and personal text again, I made a mistake.

Thanks and don't worry.
And @Royse777, well.. I didn't wear your avatar/text for 26-27h, but I'll put them back now. (Please let me know if there are problems, if I'm out.. or so..)
4226  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]Bounty pool - Royse777 [Monthly payment in BTC] on: March 19, 2022, 09:52:18 AM
I will also remove (now) this avatar and text, at least for a while, to be on the safe side, at least until things get 100% clear.
I might have been too hasty with this post. Trofo says he already checked with DarkStar and there is only an issue if you are promoting competitors of ChipMixer. Meaning, other mixers. In that case, what we are doing should be OK. Apparently, there is a new signature campaign for a different mixing service and that could be the reason why CM decided to change the rules.

I've read the message yesterday, and I was 90% sure at that point that the restriction is probably meant to be about other mixers or coinjoin wallets.

Still, after your message I decided to not take chances for that 10%, even if this means that I risk my seat here.
And I also don't want to bother the campaign manager with a question I am sure many others have been asking, so I just wait a little and see the results. Then, if I can come back, I will, if not, no biggie.
4227  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]Bounty pool - Royse777 [Monthly payment in BTC] on: March 19, 2022, 09:28:19 AM
Hello Royse777,

I wanted to let you know that I am leaving the campaign with immediate affect. I have removed my avatar and personal text.
The rules for the ChipMixer campaign have been modified and as a result I had to make this change. I assume that all other CM signature wearers will make the same decision.

It was fun promoting your services and I wish you all the best with your campaigns in the future.
See you around and take care!

Edit: Wearing your avatar and personal text might be allowed after all Roll Eyes. I am double-checking with CMs campaign manager. If it's OK, I will put it back on.

I will also remove (now) this avatar and text, at least for a while, to be on the safe side, at least until things get 100% clear.
4228  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Receiving and Sending BTC Anonymously Wallet? on: March 18, 2022, 05:00:06 PM
VPN providers can get any info that users enter in the browser? Including logins, passwords?

They can read that if you use the old http. Nowadays, with https, that information is transferred encrypted.
Basically the can take a look at anything that goes unencrypted through their hands.
4229  Other / Meta / Re: Problem with plugin uBlock Origin on: March 18, 2022, 10:02:19 AM
While I do have uBlock origin installed on my Firefox, I keep it disabled on bitcointalk - I don't see a good reason to keep it enabled here and maybe this could be the fix for you too in this case.
Also I've enabled it for a test and on Firefox (I don't have Opera) I cannot reproduce your problem.
4230  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Lucpey exchanger pretending to be BestChange partner on: March 18, 2022, 09:00:38 AM
I've supported the flag and also added one more negative feedback there.
I think that Best Change should also add a feedback there for using their name...
4231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Hoard Bitcoin? on: March 18, 2022, 07:25:28 AM
I think money is best used for buying and selling not hoarding, we get to see the value more when using it.
This my thoughts, wby?

Not necessarily "not for hoarding". In all the regions the local currency has high inflation people hoard EUR and USD basically as the easiest investment. Bitcoin price has been proven to be increasing greatly over time even against EUR and USD, even more against other local currencies. So it's not unnatural at all to see people (and companies too!) just hoard Bitcoin like they'd be hoarding gold.

Indeed, it would be a shame if people would be using Bitcoin only as investment (and no longer as currency), but it would not be a surprising move.
4232  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance worth more than sum of European banks? on: March 18, 2022, 06:55:49 AM
The assets they hold aren't the same as the bank's value. I'm actually surprised by how low the value of large Dutch banks is: ING is worth 37 billion, ABN AMRO is worth only 10 billion. That means Coinbase is worth slightly more than ING.

As for Binance: I wouldn't be surprised if they're mostly forgotten 10 years from now. New Fintech competitors can emerge much faster than competitors for traditional banks.

I have speculated that FTX would be the Binance killer,

Interesting and useful clarification about net worth and assets!

The history has shown that top exchanges do go down after a while. And although Binance kinda did everything right (much better than others in the past), FTX (or another future platform) can easily become "Binance killer". It's not only OP who has speculated or even put their money on FTX rise, especially as Binance may easily do missteps while turning towards regulations. But times do change and every new top exchange seem to last (on top) a bit longer. And as long as "funds are SAFU" indeed, many won't see a good reason to switch... not yet...
4233  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there interested in a Virtual Visa Debit Card ? | Opinion asked on: March 17, 2022, 05:30:55 PM
2) How long does this take until you deliver the card?

Do you realize it's a virtual card, so all you can get is the card number, expiration date, cv number and maybe a name on it, right?
In my experience virtual cards are issued basically instantaneously, but yeah..it's a valid question. My point was only to tell that there's no plastic card to be sent to you.
4234  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Cumpara Bitcoin fara KYC: ATM-urile Bitcoin Romania care respecta anonimitatea on: March 17, 2022, 03:12:41 PM

looks like pokereum not only copied the post at the beginning of the line but pokereum also took the code signature design courtesy of yahoo62278,by changing the letters of the project name.

I've cross-posted your "report" to the thread Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed.
And I'll report that bounty page for plagiarism. Let the mods see/decide.

This looks like plagiarism

Pokereum seems to have plagiarized both the signature format/BB of another project (Gamdom) and also a (small) part of yahoo62278 text.
I will just quote/cross-post the original report of this:

So far I see no sign of pokereum life on their thread, but I found another oddity.

Gamdom.com is looking to advertise their casino and would like to hire 50 users from Sr to legendary rank to help them out. Announcement thread Here is a link to their gambling topic so that users can check them out. Take a look at the site and if this is a project you would like to help out advertising for, then drop your application in here.

4237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block's plan hardware wallet with fingerprint sensors... on: March 17, 2022, 11:26:22 AM
for example...the sensor on the wallet broke or lost the wallet

This made me think on something funny worrisome, although not related to the fingerprint scanner: since it will not have any screen at all, how would somebody get to backup (and restore from) the seed safely offline?!
Quite an odd design, no matter how kind I want to be towards this project. Indeed, I don't see why one would buy this.
4238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What kind of software should beginners know? on: March 17, 2022, 11:19:51 AM
There was this list of VPN's that sell your data.  It included VPN's that supposedly do not.  Many of the popular ones collect, analyze and sell your data.  I would not use VPN's because it seems like a false impression of having privacy.  Maybe the only situation in which I see them useful is for local websites that deny access to Tor nodes.  But otherwise, Tor all the way.

I know that, although I don't know the list of them (not that it would matter much yet). I've used TOR, I didn't use VPN. I don't see real benefits in using VPN, but I may be missing something and that's why I'd like more info in this.

Is an anti virus truly safe?  Do they not scan computer files?  If yes, does my wallet.dat file not get scanned in the process?  Sure, you can add the Bitcoin folder to the list of exceptions.  But still, the popular and best anti viruses are closed source.  I do not trust them.

They do scan files; some scan only known executable files, for some you can set only certain extensions, or set folders to not be scanned, some will scan all. And most will also sell all the data they can.
It's one of the reasons I use hardware wallet.

You can also use Tails for broadcasting transactions.

You can indeed use Tails. Imho a better use for Tails would be for cold storage (obviously offline) and keep a watch only wallet on your main online PC (and broadcast from there).
But setting up persistence in Tails is not for everybody; also some don't trust Electrum that comes bundled into Tails because you cannot really verify it. But overall I do like to have a Tails stick around; last time I've used it it also had TOR by default iirc.
4239  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [Unsolved] Electrum LockTime? Change Adress? 1,7BTC are away? on: March 17, 2022, 10:51:49 AM
So, bc1qma22seqtka0kn8z7znuqqlze3tgtg2ag2jus3y is one of your change addresses. And on 9 March, you moved your 1.70 BTC from that address to bc1qd4utkg8x75275jju5n484adkck6jhyf7ra23qn. Is that correct so far?
The following day, the coins were sent from bc1qd4utkg8x75275jju5n484adkck6jhyf7ra23qn to bc1qkdwfud5yprs0yykg5r0zemclmm36tu8978su3w and bc1qehu5ta7k620w9xhtzxz05em6ek320r2gj982fh. Did you make that transaction and are those your addresses?

Good catch! Just he also said that bc1qd4utkg8x75275jju5n484adkck6jhyf7ra23qn is not an address in his wallets:

Pasted the zpub from wasabi into electrum but can't find the address bc1qd4utkg8x75275jju5n484adkck6jhyf7ra23qn there, my wasabi coins don't show up in electrum either.

However, he also tells "I have 1.6 btc on wasabi" and "only 0,38 btc are shown to me on electrum", which confuses me even more. Maybe you have better luck in "tracking" what he's meaning; maybe you understand better his style...

I could suspect a clipboard malware, but then the money should have never been in Wasabi (and he wrote "they were displayed unconfirmed in the other wallet, then after 3 minutes, the bitcoins were just gone").
I could suspect a malicious clone of Wasabi (I don't know whether they do exist), but then Wasabi would not have 1.6 BTC in it.
4240  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What kind of software should beginners know? on: March 17, 2022, 10:20:10 AM
VPN
Anti-virus software

While these are not directly Bitcoin related, I do see benefits in telling more about them (or at least some of them) to the world. However, please do some research on the forum to avoid duplication; because there were discussions at least about Password managers and 2FA apps, but I don't know if a proper presentation/comparison was done.

In the context of anti-virus, also the possible benefit of having a separate Linux (partition, VM or WSL) only for transactions could be part of discussion.
And I would also like to see a discussion about VPN - which worth using and why - and a comparison(?) between VPN, TOR and use of proxies (free/hacked or not).
