Beastlymac, is BlueFury on USB 2.0 spec @ 0.5A or is it over it (like BlockErupters that draw apporx. 0.6A)?
I need to know so as to prepare my hub topology to take in the new units.

Also, just to confirm. If I want an instance of bfgminer to run only the BlueFuries, I'd issue the following command line:

Code:
bfgminer -S bitfury:all -o pool -u user -p pass

Is that correct?

Another nice pool that's not in the list:

It's like lottery, the more tickets you hold the greater are the odds of winning. Holding more tickets means you paid more for them. So it's fair that your chances are greater. You can solve a block even CPU-mining, if you are very very lucky.

I posted this in the main Economics forum the day before yesterday, but it went completely unnoticed. Here is a repost:

And and interesting and positive statement from Head of Taxation Department:

Quote

- This is a new way of thinking about values, says head of Tax Department Hans Christian Holte to  NRK.
Provided one earns money from investment in digital cirrencies, one has to pay 28% of the income in taxes, while circulation of bitcoins is subject to VAT taxation, informs Head of the department.

- What kind of challenges does this induce?

- This is a legitimate child of the digital world. We must take our laws and rules and see how they can be applied to this completely new area, is the response of the Head of the Department.

PS.: Can confirm that Tøyen is one of the cheapest areas of Oslo, almost ghetto-like.

Haven't found a single block during the last year of mining. My luck for a block find is long overdue, maybe I'll manage to grab the race prize in the same go, but that'll be stretching it. Smiley
4228  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITSTAMP eXchange wall Observer. second biggest and best exchange on: October 30, 2013, 08:51:13 AM
I wake up to see such a turbulent night!  Shocked
According to BitcoinCharts there was a huge sell at about 4:30, which brought the price down almost vertically.

And now there is a $1360 wall at 200.59 that slowly gets eaten down.
4229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: October 30, 2013, 08:36:27 AM
Is PPCoin data correct?

CoinChoose shows the difficulty as 5245611.422
Coinotron as 6657553
CoinWarz shows 6657552.8341507, which is consistent with Coinotron.

As the result, CoinChoose reports a higher profitability than Coinotron.

If someone is interested in my 6 units, ssinc agreed to act as an escrow and transfer my units to a new owner after he receives payment. First come, first served. Wink

I paid 0.88 BTC per unit + 0.3 BTC in international USPS Priority.

I mentioned this in Economics with the link to the original source at NRK and a short translation of what Head of Norwegian Taxation department had to say about bitcoins.

Hmm. Mixed news for me. I hoped they would be sent out to me either yesterday or today. If you receive them on the 31st and send out the same day with Express shipment, they just might come to me on Saturday before I leave, but that'll be the closest shave ever!

Are you sure you don't have anyone on the waiting list, who'd like to have those 6 furies instead of me? Wink
4233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Qoheleth's strategy on: October 29, 2013, 03:49:43 PM
But first you need to define what is "all the way up" and where "up" ends.

Look at "Average profitability past 7 days" column. That's more accurate overall. Still my observation is that profitability of PPC is slightly higher after BTC diff increase, but then it corrects itself, ether though more miners switching to PPC or PPC price going down, or both.
4236  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters | NanoFury NF1 | BPMC Red Fury? A List. on: October 29, 2013, 10:31:44 AM
Guys I'm confused... I'm looking at a cheap option to run 40-50 miners (about 40 BE and 5 or more BlueFury's). I was about to order 5 of the 10port TeckNet's from Amazon UK which would cost me about €215 inc shipping (to NL)

However, there's a shop in NL who sells the LogiLink 10ports (UA0096)

LigilLnk in the warning list was added at a later point, when it was discovered that it's a clone of BigTek, where all the same warnings apply. It's unreviewed in the main list, so I'll remove it from there.

It might be a good option to buy, if you plan to mod it. Read the posts of guys who did that.

4237  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters | NanoFury NF1 | BPMC Red Fury? A List. on: October 29, 2013, 09:25:55 AM
Time to add an ASICMiner Block Eruper 49 port USB 2.0 hub to the list  Grin

Nice! I've added it to the Special Hubs section. However, I am still trying to find how much they cost by themselves to calculate price per port, or do you need to by 50BEs to get a hub?

Okay got this far and once again thanks. My next question is what is a safe load to run? If my PSU is rated at +5V 22A it should support 44 erupters. Now that is maxing it out at 110VA I know that cant be okay, so my question is at what capacity can I run this or any PSU? I was thinking of running 35 off it and two fans at 12V .85A so that is just about 80% of the +5V 22A rating. Also will that cause voltage drop because I am pulling more than 5A through an 18 gauge wire?

It depends on how well your ATX supply delivers on the 5V rail. I mentioned it before that I have 2 different ATX'es with 25A on 5V., and the older ATX model could power way more BEs than the new one.

You 22A ATX should be good for about 35 BEs (22A/0.6A = 36.6). Just make sure you don't draw more than 8A from a single 4-pin Molex and not more than 12A from a single string (though, again, depending on your ATX, you may get away with 16A per string). You will know if you draw too much, if some of the BEs will randomly stop hashing and light solid green.
4238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 29, 2013, 08:59:25 AM
^^ All my ASICs have been mining PPC.. by the end of the year I should bring a couple TH/s to that network.

how has that been working for you?  I was thinking about solo mining ppc with my block erupters setup

No different than mining BTC. Just mine it when it's more profitable. Wink I mined a little PPC against Coinotron (https://coinotron.com/coinotron/) yesterday from the hosted setup to test it. Worked fine. However, PPC is slightly less profitable than BTC at the moment,
As for BEs, they are set-up in my unattended front-end (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149442.0), which uses data from Coinchoose to switch to the most profitable coin at any given time

Thanks for the update, guys. Keep it up. You were the first pool that I ever used and I sure hope you will still be around.
I too have 200+ BTC reported on my account balance, though I for sure know that I had less that 0.005 after the last payout that I performed.
4240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 28, 2013, 07:59:28 PM
Nice to see that you can add as any back-up pools as you want in the portal.
Pointed mine to BitMinter and will let it run for a while. I should expect about 240-260GH/s on the pool side, correct?
