42281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 12:29:14 PM
Would it now be possible to run two Antminer s3's off a "Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU"

 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ALK3QRS

i see 2 pcie cables   each with 2 jacks.

that is not enough  unless you run the gear at 400gh  and  most likely  that will overheat the wires.

I found a photo of the cables on www.newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139051

also it has only 2

8 pin   pcie jacks in the psu   so   you need adapters from the lessor jacks  (a risk)

lastly the 12 volt rail rates at 744 watts       so that is 372 watts per s-3  .  my guess is this is not the best choice of gear for 2 machines

42284  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: AntMiner S3 - [Kind of A] Group Buy - Credit Cards Accepted! on: July 14, 2014, 12:00:49 PM
okay now that bitmaintech has announced the gear will not hash at 478 it will hash at 441.  and they offer a 7.7% refund or a 10% coupon  what does your 500 usd price turn into?

Note I have not purchased one from you as of yet.

So  will you drop  5% to 475  keeping a piece of the cash refund for your self

or do you drop    7% to 465    keeping a very small part of the refund for your self

or lastly do you go to 450 giving the full total coupon discount.

Not to fault you this is why preorders suck.

I have 2 on order with bitmaintech.  I ordered them in the first 20 minutes of batch 1.

I need to know your plans  for the refund/coupon  that bitmaintech is giving to you .  I then need to figure do I order 1 from you at a better then 500 usd price.

Or do I take 2 coupons from bitmaintech and buy in batch 4.

Thanks for your reply.

Isn't there a thread for P2Pool? Just how lonely are you guys, all day long talking crap about P2Pool. When(IF) P2Fool FW does come out I am sure you all will be the 4th or 5th to know. Gezz and to think I was going to try P2Fool, that is until I realized you had to become an annoying prick to use it.

Yes, there is. And it's well documented there as well. But as this is a Bitmain issue, p2pool users will post about it here, on Bitmains thread - especially as the deadline when Bitmain said the issue would be fixed has passed. So deal with it  Roll Eyes

You're more than welcome to click the ignore button - that's what it's for.

You ignorant fucking twat.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

was also amused as the twat word is not used much.  good to see it in print.
42286  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Hosted Gridseed G-Blades or other HOSTED Scrypt Miners on: July 14, 2014, 11:38:44 AM
I am running 11 gridseed blades in house.

I have been around a while.

I would be willing to run 2 at your pool  with your worker settings.

Make an offer.

Thanks for the offer philipma1957.

How would that work?

Would you be selling me the 2 Blades and hosting them for me?
If so what kind of price are you looking for?

or

Are you offering me a Cloud Hosting type service on 2 of your Blades without me owning the hardware?
I wouldn't be so interested in this but may change my mind if the price is right Smiley

What I am really looking for is Hosted Hardware that I can have shipped to me when the time is right, I hope that makes sense Smiley

All the best
Deja

I could do Hosted Hardware that I sold to you. Or cloud.

If you are in the 50 states  shipping in the future while hosting in the short run is easy.

If you are out of the USA  cloud  only is easier.  Due to high overseas shipping.

Let me know where you would want them shipped.

I can try to figure a cloud only price and I can try to figure  a host then ship later deal.

Best regards Phil

42287  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Antminer U2 USB sticks... looking for at least 17 of them. on: July 14, 2014, 11:32:16 AM
I don't have any u-1's or u-2's .

I do have some icefury sticks. 2 or 3 of them

I point them at bitminter or bitsolo.net depends on my mood.
Isnt the fury line comparable to the U2's in terms of speeds around 2Gh/s ?

they clock on bfgminer   1 to 54 (well up to 60 but 54 is the highest reliable freq)

if you put in 51 you get about 2 or 2.1  see screen shot.  if you put in 54 they will push to 2.5  but you need a fan for sure at 54.  I set the first one at 51 then bumped to 53.  the hash slowly goes ups. see second shot.

at 51 it will do about 2.0

at 53 it will do about 2.24  needs a fan

so under clock to 400 get that with 280 watts to 310 watts. that means quiet and cool.

take the coupons buy 2 more. done.  so it is now 7 pm in china I wonder if I was shipped today.

I ordered in the first 20 minutes.  I am glad I ordered only 2. Next order will be round 4. I wonder how it will be priced.

So how does this month work? Do we have to send a PM or is it auto?

Semi-auto. No PM, but you need to fill a form to claim payment.

So we should fill it now?

There would be no reason to fill it out now, you would be shorting yourself posts if you are going to be active over the next week

maybe he is like me and has well over 400 posts

It's 12:42 in HK now. I bet they are playing Mahjong getting blitzed on Baijiu while looking at all those shiny S3s and saying "maņana, maņana."

Pardon my lack of knowledge what is Baijiu?    never mind I looked it up in wiki

42293  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are any ASIC miners making ROI anymore? on: July 14, 2014, 04:52:07 AM

While we would all love that I doubt any company would ship a miner that would return that quickly.  If it had that much potential then it would just "sit" on their shelves a few more days, you know, a little more burn in testing would be needed  Grin

I don't doubt that either heh Smiley

Last year, asics were ahead of the difficulty curve. My kncminer in December ROI'd in 23 days. These days you would be hard pressed to get your ROI in less than 45 days.

Maybe we will see some better equipment towards year end. These Chinese manufacturers are going to drive intense competition in 2015 for bitcoin and scrypt mining.

You earned as many BTC as it would have cost you when you bought the KNC in just 23 days?  I find that impossible.

You mean you ROIed in fiat?  That's possible, but only if BTC went up and you actually liquidated the coin.

btc roi is  meh.   if you have 10 btc today july 14th 2014  it is worth 6300 usd.

if you have 7 btc Nov. 2013  it was worth  about 7700.

So   the guy with 7btc  then and 10btc now made a btc profit of 3 btc.

but he lost 1400.

Mining gear is about active investment .  buy and hold is about passive investment.

completely different  don't compare them it is a trap.

42294  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lowest Difficulty increase in a while! on: July 14, 2014, 04:37:49 AM
The two best mining manufacturers, Bitmain and Spondoolies, are in between generations. By the end of July they should both be pumping out huge amounts of hashpower. Enjoy a couple small difficulty increases. It's a temporary respite.

well yes and no.  the gear that does 2 watts a hash is slowing dropping off the market. soon s-1s will not pay for the power they spend.

if they all turn into 140 gh at 180 watts on lower volts/clock  there will be  more then 20000  x 40 gh drop in hash.

that is just some of the older gear not hashing or reduced hashing.

So my guess is the 200 day trend will continue its drop.

june 2013 to dec 2013 200 day diff avg = 24%

jan 2014  to july 2014  200 day diff avg = 18%

july 2014 to feb 2015  200 day diff   avg =  13.5%     that is my best guess for the next 19 jumps or 200 days.

Disclaimer I am rounding a bit, but in the ballpark with the last two   200 day  periods.

The diff has shown a down trend.  the exact dates are:

  Dec 21 , 2013  to July 12 , 2014       about 18% avg  1,180,923,195  to  17,336,316,979  14x the hash

  June 5 , 2013  to  Dec 21 , 2013      about 24% avg      15,605,633   to    1,180,923,195  75x the hash

that is a huge drop in diff and hash increase.

this will continue baring a new magic chip  that does .01 watt per hash or .02 watt per hash.

second way hash  and diff may do better is  price goes to 6 or 7 k a btc.

42295  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Electricity Cost on: July 14, 2014, 03:53:08 AM
just...steal the electricity
if u want to split it...

try this one

from amazon
http://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU

Really come on ?
With how Watts do you think you can get away ?
before getting caught...

Well please enlighten me, this is entirely new to me...

power theft is about a lack of greed.  much depends on your own individual setups.

any real heavy duty theft gets caught.   but an s-1 here or there under volted under clock may not be found.

Same idea with an s-3.

366 watts 24/7/365   is  3210 kwatts a year  at 10 cents that is 321 usd  at 15 cents 480 usd.

many of us can slip this  past people.  some of us do.

Myself no, but lets face it 1 s-3 you may be able to do.

many people work in an office  running an s-3 in a skyscraper that has 150 cubicles along with 20 private

offices you can be sure people are doing that.
42296  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin difficulty may actually go down in ~7 days! on: July 14, 2014, 03:44:06 AM
Pretty much. Mining went from 30% increases to 15%. Which stretched out the operational time of my singles for a month or two. Not sure where things will go from here, if the price of bitcoin does not rise, then we will hit a technical limit as to how much money people want to donate to the blockchain (ie: none IMO).

Which will stabilize mining at a level where people can grind out a small profit. Which should be replaced by the damn transaction fees.

yeah, asics are now common.   june 2013 to dec 2013  diff was 24%   jan 2014 to july diff was 18%

the power efficiency  jumps are less and diff has shrunk a bit.

When I was mining gpu's  back in the day they would grind out a small profit.

asics are drifting into this.  we will see as time unfolds.
42297  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 14, 2014, 03:35:02 AM
Anyone one else a little concerned that Bitmaintech hasn't giving us an update on shipping or updated their support page with S3 info and firmware?

And to anyone who would expose their miners to outside air, keep humidity in mind. I had an old Avalon unit I stuck outside in a screened in porch area. It was away from any rain however, after a couple of months the circuit boards started to build up corrosion and the miner stopped working, until I cleaned the corrosion off. I keep it indoors, in the A/C after that.

the miner will not be exposed to outside air.

It will blow the exhaust outside .

the inside will be right under a central ac vent in a spare bedroom.

once I get it set up you will see what I mean.

All the hot warm air will blow out the window.

I would be interested to see your design once you finish it. Need a better way to get the heat out of my home office where my S3's are going to go.

Yeah I can picture it in my mind.  Hopefully once the gear comes I can build it and it works.
42298  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 14, 2014, 02:59:31 AM
It is about 11 am monday the 14th in china.  So time to worry has not come .  By 7-8 pm in china  or about 8-9 hours shipping notice will be posting.

  (I hope)

as a pleasant distraction   here are your diif numbers for 11pm east coast usa time

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty    now  17,336  in 1830 blocks 18,581

http://bitcoincharts.com/   >>>>>>>>>>> now   17,336  in 1830 blocks  17,653

total>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 36,234/ 2 =

 18,117  or about 4.5% jump

I am guessing that is low if these batches ship and setup before the 23rd my guess is a very big jump.

I am at my 476th post. for the month.

I would have liked to file today but the form is not up to date.

I will end up with more the 510 posts.  I don't mind collecting 400 x .0012 = .48 btc

Just rather be able to file and forget about it. I figure with the time I have to post.  I will write about 500 posts a month which is well over the 400 max.

I will still continue to post above and beyond the 400 each month.

Next month the s-3's will cone out and lots of info will be needed about set up and the like.  I have a project in mind for a low cost 2-3 s-3 setup that I will build and post. should be fun.

The bit I don't get is how come the BA team failed so miserably to assemble the miner but two guys in a flat somewhere in Bulgaria can?

Also, I can smell another  communication cockup in the making, you need to have a crystal clear process for telling people how to register what they want to do bob!

yeah bothers me. but  as Long as no more cash leaves my pocket I ill hang in till the end on this.

bob tom and dz have done very well for me on more then 1 occasion.
