Bagged 12/1 win on Empoli, although as I said yesterday, the odds should really have been far higher. I guess without Ronaldo, despite his age and price tag, still big enough for the bookies to tick their odds down.

Not going to be good value throughout the season anymore if the best I could get was 12x on a promotee playing away.

Time for a new champion in Serie A!

Cool cash! Congratulations..

I'm still rooting for Juventus to go all the way though, they've had similar runs like this during the 6-7 years monopoly.. It's going to be tougher this season thought as they lack a little of stars players in their top form like they used to.

I had 4.5 points in the first 2 fixtures for this week, and just 1 point from the 4 fixtures after that 😮

snip..

That's some nice rewards, more so coming from a freebet.

It must be said that the red card literally change the game, Chelsea were the better side before the red card and are forced to sit back in the 2nd half, It could have been a whole lot different even if the penalty was awarded and James didn't get sent off, but rules are rules, I suppose.

They looked just a tad better yes, but the glancing header was something special and Liverpool actually had more shots and chances, just a bit poor at the end. If Elliot were just a shade better at finishing and more courageous (had at least a couple of chances but opted to pass), maybe. But yeah, surprised Chelsea just sat back but they were probably happier with the draw than we were. Impossible to crack when we're not at our creative best.

No surprise quite a few people got exact scores;) Boo.

I had LFC to win, so I got a goose egg.  Boo!

Chelsea did look like the better side, even with only ten men.  They couldn't help but give LFC all those chances, but they did a good job keeping them away form the goal for the most part.  Ironically LFC's best chances were during that fiasco that got James red-carded, while Chelsea still had 11 men.

I've never had it worse before, I got Liverpool to win too...

I've only accrued 2.5 points from 7 games played already, I'm down to 41 position for the week  Sad

Yeah, those draws killed me, and the funny thing is this season I actually thought to predict more draws -- so I did get the exact score on Newcastle (thanks VAR and sorry NotATether).

Also thanks VAR for the Liverpool game. Think the sending off was a tad harsh but then it was a clear Mane goal prevented with Reece's arm and the ref didn't have a choice. Lovely to see the red mist descend on Chelski after that heh. Hope we smash a few more in.

It's still all square and 5 minutes to go, Mendy with some really impressive saves to keep Chelsea in the game...

Arsenal gets a red card at 35' and basically falls apart after that. I read some guys on twitter predicting 0-5 for Arsenal, 1-2 etc I'm glad I went for the long shot in city though even now it looks like they're going to stun everybody with a stupidly high 7-0 result.

As usual for Arsenal, great 5 minutes of football, then 85 minutes of being annihilated...\

It was a one sided affair from start to finish, Xhaka never just seize to amaze me, what needles and horrible tackle, lucky for Cancelo to have escaped to full effect of the tackle, It was a deserved red card!

We've the tricky 3PM fixtures up next, these are usually the first set of hurdles the week potential winners needs to jump first, Brighton or Everton Roll Eyes
4245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 28, 2021, 11:10:13 AM
Pinging again because we have games tonight. Valencia are the bookie favorites and they did start well but I keep wondering if we will end up getting scarred if we put our faith on them because last season, they were horrendous overall, only winning 10 games, while bookies kept putting them as favs.

First game is hard to pick though. I guess a draw?
Both are hard to pick, at least for me. Leaning towards the draws for now but will probably change something till the deadline. Waiting for my multi 5 insurance on Sportsbet to reset and then I am searching for some markets. Probably one or both of La liga games are going to the ticket so some research is in the plan for me later today.

Sheesh, I got 2 close scores. And Valencia scoring 3 goals and not letting in any? I thought my 2-0 was also overly ambitious and yet it only got me half the points. That's what I mean about Valencia, they just want to play like this and trick you into thinking they're finally going to do well. Or are they going to maybe? So frustrating:) I have to say well done to tomahawk09 for getting it 3-0!

Quite an impressive way to start the game week for me, I had one exact score and one close prediction (I could have had both exact though)  I just couldn't have foresee Valencia scoring 3 goals, but still 8 games to play for.

Mallorca really held their ground after taking the early lead.

Never saw this move coming. It was all City in the news and then bam - United done deal.

No one saw this coming, the deal was literally hijacked with relative ease and it didn't even take a minute for all terms to reached and everything to be finalised, It really was easy for Man Utd to make contact due to the past relationship and what the deal would have meant for the fans and Ronaldo himself...

It's a big win for the club already, the club stocks was said to have soared by more 8% since the announcement 🥳

United is in the race too and Juventus will try for only 1 player, Pogba IMHO

Yeah, according to recent news, Manchester United have also joined the race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. And it is claimed that Manchester City gave up on him and they won't make any offer for Ronaldo. If this is all true, we can see Ronaldo at Manchester United again after so many years. I would like to say that it is time to bring good memories back. Let's see the result of this transfer first.

It's really crazy and funny how this deal has unfolded all within the last 24 hours.

It's almost certain now that Ronaldo would be making a return to the old trafford to join Manchester United, that'd be a major boost to club's imo, but with City being shut out yet again after losing out on Harry Kane, is there a possibility of them still making a big signing before the transfer window closes.
4248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 26, 2021, 10:31:12 PM
Mbappè to PSG seems a real deal and almost done.

Also the friend of the PSG president "insulted" Real but he canceled the tweet after.

He also confirmed the deal.

You win some, you lose some! PSG at the end of the would be getting a really reasonable amount from the transfer of player they could lose for free, so it's big win for them in that aspect, but they've also got ageing players which was why they could have kept Mbappe for future purposes, with the money they've got, they've showed the world over the past years that they really can get whichever player they want.

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the huge possibility of Ronaldo leaving Juventus, and Man City seem like the most probable destination.

I think that's due Ronaldo's continuous hunger for success and competitiveness which Juventus seemed to lack in the last 2-3 seasons, It'll be interesting to have Ronaldo back in the PL, that might however not go down well Man United fans.

CR7 decided to LEAVE Juventus

Confirmed. Cristiano Ronaldo has definitely decided to LEAVE Juventus and he asked the club to sell him immediatly. ❌🇵🇹

- Juventus are waiting for Manchester City official bid to arrive in the next hours to reach an agreement as soon as possible. ⏳🔵

- Cristiano Ronaldo only wants to leave Juventus and he won’t be available for next match. 🚫✋🏻

- Jorge Mendes is working directly with Man City board to complete the agreement on personal terms/contract for Ronaldo. 📑🤝

It was the draw for the group stage of the Champions League.

I think group A and group E are two groups that will probably be very competitive.

What do you think?

In group A and group E, I think you'll have a only few though games to look forward too, Bayern vs Barcelona, then PSG vs Man City... However, the most competitive game in my opinion would be group C and group F, where almost every match would be somewhat even, and it will be hard to predict teams that make it out of those group.

I like the fact there are a lot big teams facing each other in the group stage so there will always be a hyped fixture almost each game week.

OK I'm Guessing Mbappè will stay in Paris this year.

What is the point of spending this amount if in 12 months will be for free?

Source: https://twitter.com/theMadridZone/status/1430599461907148806

I agree with you that Mbappe would stay over in Paris, at least for this summer... Fabrizio Ramon had said that "PSG Owner claimed that Mbappe had promised them he wouldn't leave for free", does that mean a deal fall through Mbappe would sign a new deal, but as his currently being held against his will might change the whole narrative.

It seems a lot of clubs are keen to hold on to the star players this summer at all cost.

EFL Cup:

Arsenal 6 - 0 West Brom

 Shocked

honestly it looked like arsenal was playing alone

for the next round the big game will be liverpool against chelsea, honestly as a fan of liverpool i confess that this will be a game that i will watch very scared of losing to chelsea who is strong

After getting a defeat against Chelsea 2-0, this was the result Arsenal needed really.  Grin  They just obliterated West Brom in this match. And West Brom are actually not the worst team but they couldn't do anything against Arsenal here. Aubameyang made a hat-trick and Lacazette also scored after entering the game in the second half. They have improved their morale before their league match vs Manchester City.

Arsenal were an entirely different team today, but it's really understandable that West Brom are not much of a competitive team right now. That said it might really be worth a risk to back Arsenal over the weekend against Man City, the odds is currently @ 12.6 on Roobet for Arsenal to win at full time, I'll be putting a few bucks on it, with Aubameyang and Lacazette fully back, maybe Arsenal would a stand a chance 😉

So to recap my bet for tonight is Salzburg,Dinamo and Shakhatar to win their games,or to low the risk Shakhtar win or draw.

Dinamo can even win, but I think it will be difficult to win the tie. To achieve this I had to score 4 goals.
I believe the Sheriff will not make it that easy.

Salzburg are already 2-0 goals up very early into game already, within 10 minutes they've already scored two goals, and it's all settled in this fixture I guess.

Monaco have also turned their fixture around, leading by two goals against Shakhtar Donestk.
4255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 25, 2021, 02:52:59 PM
150m is a very huge amount of money at this moment. Tottenham should sell out now. This will give them a lot of money, they will be able to organize their team in a new way. But next season they will lose to Kane. If not sold now, Tottenham's management will make a big mistake.
There is a dual situation here. I think Kane can still help this season, but will he?) He probably is not interested in playing for Spurs, so I think he should sell him and buy a couple of other players to replace Kane and strengthen the team in general, but Sprus do not want to let him go... It's like with Mbappe. PSG should sell him for 160 million now or he will go for free next season...

Tottenham should have let Kane gone for that amount, but it's understandable why they don't want to lose him just yet, they might never get another opportunity to sell for that much, I'd say because as it is, Man City are quite desperate to complete a deal for him, but if they'll have to go without signing him this summer, they'll either pay less next or seek other options and I think there will be many.

Mbappe would likely leave PSG eventually, PSG are willing to take the chance of convincing him to stay or lose him for free at the of the season than sanction any sale right now, the competition in the club right now might a healthy one for Mbappe but still, I believe it's a really strong and tough one for any player. Mbappe would also be aware that if he should sign an extension with PSG, the chances of leaving is next to zero, unless he sees out the contract yet again.

Benfica played an hour with one less, after Lucas Veríssimo expulsion. It was a game of great suffering, thanks to Benfica goalkeeper - Vlachodimos (considered the best on the field), keeping the score zero. With this result, Benfica managed to enter the group stage of the Champions League, which already includes two other Portuguese teams, Sporting and FC Porto.
Failing to win vs 10 players for almost 60 minutes in your home is so frustrating for Eindhoven fans.. Malmo passed thanks to the goal scored in this match and it is funny to see Young Boys results the same as in the home game with an inverted red card, mirror force Tongue
For Wednesday games, Salzburg and Dinamo should pass too, but I think the most interesting match will be between Shakhtar and Monaco.

PSV were rather just unfortunate tonight, they actually played better than they did in the first leg.

After they got the man advantage I was quite of the opinion that they'll win the match and maybe force extra time at least.

Kudos to Benfica for playing with one man less for that much of the game and were still able to stand their ground against all the attacking threat from PSV, even though they didn't offer anything in attack.

2 yellow caps to buwaytress and Harkorede wow! And I luckily went for Milan win but looks like it was a very close game in the end happy I got the point.

Didn't expect to be top of this table so far, but I guess that's what I get for picking favourites.

I thought you always pick the non-favorites though? Smiley I mean, you are always against City in EPL,,, and I saw the old posts on last season and you always picked against Juventus;)

He still does, but not just always... He probably like going against the odds, but we'll figure out if he'll keep at it while at the top spot  Cheesy

I've done well enough for this round I guess, Juventus was the only surprise and I was actually not going for Sassuolo in the pool, despite having a bet on them

Too bad I didn't lock my pick on the West Ham vs Leicester City game

Didnt you lock it?

or was this the default picks from Superbru because most of our pools chose Leicester to win so you are locked with Leicester to win as a default.
You don't need to lock your picks unless you want to take a peak what was the choices of other people in the pool. I never lock my picks so I can tinker with them until match starts. Not that it helps me, usually ends with me getting less points then what my initial pick would bring. All picks get locked in automatically when the match starts.

Also I am quite sure that default picks are taking preffered pick from whole Superbru community and not just our pool.

I didn't lock it, I was actually talking about the temptation of changing it, If it were to be locked I wouldn't have had the imagination of trying to change it, changing it really wouldn't have mattered because I would have gone for 1 - 0 win for West Ham if I were to go for West Ham. It just isn't my week yet I'd but still, so far so good.

Too bad I didn't lock my pick on the West Ham vs Leicester City game, now I'm second myself looking at the line up, it's tough to make some picks, but it's even tougher today that the week is literally dependent on it... Everyone (including the Bookies) is fancying West Ham to win or draw, but my pick has been Leicester City since I made my picks during the weekend... I'm probably going to stick with my guts here, I hope I'm right though  Cheesy
