It was a rough year to say the least, covid-19 pandemic was a thorn in our flesh (and still is), but nonetheless it wasn't bad at all for the Bitcoin community, from the halving to the point at which we are right now, and that's above the ath, as well as looking forward to a special year for Bitcoin next year, that's positive news indeed, one all Bitcoiners are looking forward to.

Interesting year as well for the Bitcointalk family, I'd like to thank Royse777 for Project Covid-19: An approach to support the Bitcoin Community, this comes first to mind cause the pandemic was really unbearable for quite a lot of people and to come up with that initiative was a life saver for some, thank you!
Thanks to zasad@ for organizing one of the most interesting event I've witnessed on the forum, talking about the [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members, it was really interesting and uniting, I still go back to read a couple of great interviews.
It was a great year for bitcoin, and it's adoption, thanks to fillippone for keeping us abreast with most of the latest info and development via Bitcoin Treasuries.
Last but not least, thanks to icopress for organizing Bitcointalk Community awards [Voting 2020], it was fun voting in that thread and it was a very good initiative I must say.

This are some of the most interesting topics I loved on the forum this year, most especially cause they were threads that somewhat unified the community even in a turbulent year, I hope we and Bitcoin have a better 2021, happy holidays guys.
4243  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's the propose of vaccine if countries keep on accepting flights on: December 23, 2020, 04:22:45 PM
Is this not enough to ban flights all over the globe? not just one from US to UK to Europe?
That was the case during the first phase of the covid-19 pandemic and an added internal total lockdown, but mind you that no matter how serious this particular present wave is, no country is going to take those measures any longer, I doubt there'll be any total lockdown in any country as well as a complete international ban.

And mind you that one of the reason why the above won't happen is cause of the vaccines been made available, that's why your thread is somewhat ironical, if there weren't any vaccines soon to be administered to people, then we can talk about lockdowns again plus travel bans, with effective vaccination then there'll be no need to stop people travelling, hindering tourism and affecting the economy negatively.
4244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP Price Dives After SEC Files Charges on: December 23, 2020, 04:12:28 PM
Just as big events such as halving for example most times causes an appreciation in price of a cryptocurrecy, so does a bad news result in a plunge or a total collapse, this law suit is going to bring ripple down and tbh I doubt they'll be able to recover from it, quite a lot of people have pulled out and are still pulling out of the network to cut their losses, it's indeed a bad period for big time ripple holders.

For as long as this case lingers, the demand for XRP will prolly be zero, and when a crypto lacks demand for it, it's more or less is a dead coin, I'll honestly want to see how long this case goes on, the verdict and what the future holds for ripple, if any at all.
4245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the purpose of your post ? on: December 23, 2020, 05:27:46 AM
What is your goal in posting ?
I find it rather amusing that you ask the purpose of posting on a discussion forum, the goal of posting should be to discuss and by extension to contribute to discussions in the best way possible or to the best of your knowledge, signature campaigns somewhat makes posting more frequent for quite a lot of people, I'm very sure most of us users wouldn't post the many we do if we weren't on a signature campaign, but what you must understand is that to contribute to discussions is what's most important and signature campaigns gives you pocket money for posts that you'll prolly have made even without it, cause mind you that even before you're qualified to join a (good) campaign, you must have been posting, not just posting, but making HQ posts.
Would someone be guilty of posting just to get paid
Quite a lot of users do so, but who can tell the difference unless you're spamming the forum with LQ posts, if you make decent and quality posts, contributing to discussions in the forum, sharing from your repertoire of knowledge and helping newbies, then you're already a positive to the forum, even if deep down you're only doing that to earn, no one cares/can notice it.
4246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Morgan Stanley says "betting on bitcoin is harmful to the U.S. dollar" on: December 22, 2020, 01:55:19 PM
If the government considers Bitcoin a competition, then it doesn't have to be from a negative perspective of Bitcoin 'harming' the U.S. dollar or whatever fiat currency, it could also be a call for governments to put policies in place to stabilize their different fiat currencies, bolster the economy and introduce policies that aren't manipulative to favor all aspects of the masses, cause that's what competition does, puts you on your toes.

Whenever government and it's officials talk about the Bitcoin threat, they only mention it's cons to their fiat and the economy, imo, it's manipulative cause that's how they bring up the silly ideas of regulations and more regulations to Bitcoin.
4247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I introduced cryptocurrency to my friends by using DOGECOIN on: December 22, 2020, 01:25:58 PM
I'm reluctant to introduce newcomers with altcoins, prolly cause there are quite a lot of altcoins and many are more or less pump or dump, when i want to talk to a group of friends, or a friend about crypto, though I can't remember the last time I did, I always start with Bitcoin, cause I'm sure that's the crypto they must surely have heard of, if they've heard of any; and imo Bitcoin, it's history, it's events and other whatnots about it, is definitely going to pique their interest in crypto generally. Having said that, imo, if anyone understands the basics about Bitcoin, and some of its technicalities, then understanding altcoins is going to be easy.

4250  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Three more fake trust wallet on google play. on: December 21, 2020, 07:20:20 PM
Seeing stuffs like this scares me, because I'm not very familiar with this forum yet, talk more of been tricked, duped or scammed. Thanks for this information. It's indeed an eye opener. Please newbies watch out. Don't let anyone fool you.
It's doesn't have to scare you cause it can be avoided easily, just don't download wallets, exchange apps or anything that is connected to your crypto from Google playstore, if you want to download things as such you do it only via the official website. Don't let heads up such as this discourage you into thinking the network is all about scams and the rest, of course Google playstore is filled with scam apps and what do you expect when Google hardly filters, just search most apps and most times you're shown the one created by scammers, I'd prefer people report straight to Google than create threads for it since it's so rampant on playstore, but that's a discussion for another day. Mind you that you could be scammed, but that's only if you do not take the responsibility of protecting yourself and by extension your funds.
4251  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hope people that give out personal address safe? Ledger wallet users' attacks on: December 21, 2020, 03:02:47 PM
And buy them offline? Sadly not everyone can fly around the world to buy some stuff.
So true, I don't even think 5% of crypto/hw users will go through the hassle of traveling to a different country/continent just to get a hardware wallet. We have to take this situation as a 'necessary evil' and hope ledger takes better precautions in protecting users data and being proactive incase of a unforseen breach.
Many people don't have a clue how decentralized wallets works, once you start using them and you are given your recovery seed the wallet developers have no business with users, they have no right or whatsoever, only centralized wallets that requires email and password for login can ask people for KYC...

People need to stop using what they don't fully understand, it's why they are falling for stupid tricks
I don't see a problem of understanding here; Are you by any chance pushing for people to store coins on centralized wallets, on such wallets, any breach/hack and you lose your funds, plus there's already the danger of your KYC info being sold on the black market. Having said that, on decentralized wallets like ledger, you the user is in full control and you don't need the devs to have any 'business' whatsoever with you, other than keeping you private info you used upon online purchase secret, and mind you that even if there's a breach in their database your funds are still safe, there's only a danger of a physical attack or if you give out your seed phrase, so I don't get your hype of centralized wallets.
4252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will DeFi's Future look like? on: December 21, 2020, 02:19:40 PM
What more do you think Defi will do in the future?
Nothing TBH, I don't see deFi as a system with a future but just hype, I don't know how deep you've bought into the deFi hype, but do not expect any long term success from most, if not all of it's projects, quite a few people have prolly made some ROI on the platform, but that's that, the hype trend isn't something that can be sustained for an indefinite period of time, by next year, I'm sure the scams will be overwhelming and the system may not survive it, just like it was with ICO or IEO.
Defi are the future of crypto.
This is not true, with time investors will realize that Defi hasn't got what it takes to have a future in crypto, mind you that as you talk big about the DeFi network, be careful when investing in it, so you don't make so much losses when it crashes, or rather when the hype dies off completely.
4253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: NanoWallet Telegram Bot will be closed before 30 Dec, withdraw your nano ASAP on: December 21, 2020, 01:32:35 PM
I am not holding any Nano on their nanowalletbot or anywhere for that matter, but I think quite a number of people are going to miss the info and prolly lose their Nano, so thanks for giving users the heads up. I want to know, apart from the Telegram message updating holders on their walletbot to withdraw asap, is there any other means they've reached out to people on their network, a bulk email or something? And lastly does it mean anyone who doesn't withdraw before the 30th of December is going to lose their coins, that sounds harsh and somewhat sketchy and I'm sure we're going to see a lot of complaints after the said deadline.
4254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your merit will find you! on: December 20, 2020, 12:09:40 PM
I don’t want to want to focus on the Newbie that receives merit for a low quality post but rather want to question the user that gives out the merit.
Mind you that the issue of sending merits to users is highly subjective, and from a normal standpoint, a newbie isn't expected to post HQ stuff from the very beginning, that's if the user is really a newbie to crypto and the forum and not an alt account, so the criteria to reward a newbie merit would hence be different from that of let's say a hero member, who has been in the network for longer, that's if the user (hero) isn't a bought account or something. Having said that, you should not be surprised if you see a newbie being merited for something you don't consider as HQ, and at other times, users use merits to encourage newbies who are showing effort to learn.
4255  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Think twice before pressing send. on: December 20, 2020, 12:01:31 PM
Mistakes such as this one aren't uncommon in the network, even users who trade via p2p need to make sure transactions has more than three confirmations before sending their trading partner cash or whatever is part of the deal/transaction, all this are necessary precautions to be carried out if you're a Bitcoin user; always double/triple check addresses before sending, cause any mistake made will be on you, the network is decentralized, so if you lose your funds, they are more or less lost forever, so the responsibility rests on you.
4256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please try to read through the thread before placing your post on: December 19, 2020, 06:31:34 PM
+1 to OP, yesterday a user bumped a rank up thread in the B&H section without reading other posts in the thread to understand that the thread need not be bumped since the OP was caught doing something shady, annoyingly so, after that user was corrected, a few others still made the same mistake without just reading the posts directly above theirs. It's not too difficult to just peruse through the OP and some replies on a thread, especially if it's a thread you did not join in at the beginning, if you keep making mistakes of posting without reading, users will take you to be a shit-poster and even if they don't put you on their ignore list, your posts could be ignored by them 'mentally'.
No matter how many times we say not of the members going to give any attention to it that is why merit system was introduced to control the amount of spam
It's not even about the merit system, most of this users aren't even seeking to get merited for posts such as that, and mind you that some of them are even ranked up members, the thing imo is that they are just hurriedly making posts without much understanding, and maybe cause of some signature quota they want to meet up with.
4257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: December 19, 2020, 08:54:13 AM
Bookies are underestimating Leeds a lot. Leeds are a good attacking side.
I think so as well, Manchester United is an inconsistent team, and Leeds could capitalize on that and grab something from this game, you can't blame the bookies though, Manchester United will always be expected to get the lower odd when they are up against most teams, and in this case it's a team that's just been newly promoted, so it's normal, but that's not to say the smaller odds cannot win the game and take all the three points home.
Liverpool are not as strong in the premier league as they were last season
I hope you didn't expect them to replicate the kind of form they had and used to win the league last season, that only comes once in a while, but it doesn't mean they aren't strong this season, we're talking about the team that's occupying first position, if we have complaints about their form, then quite likely every other team is suffering from lack of form as well, cause Liverpool have been the best team in the epl thus far, and that's why they are top.

4259  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Regulation and what it means for the future of crypto currency on: December 18, 2020, 07:49:29 PM
There is seemingly a growing desire by government to regulate cryptocurrency. It was once believed that bitcoin was anonymous and can't be traced. This isn't quite true since various techniques have been formulated to trace the transactions and discover the owner. Secondly,
This is not true. It was never impossible to trace a Bitcoin transaction, the technology that Bitcoin runs on is transparent, and another misconception i want to correct is that Bitcoin isn't anonymous, but pseudo-anomymous, that's it's possible to track/trace the transactions and know the wallets addresses that sends as well as receives, but can't know the individuals behind those addresses, unless they give up their identities through third party services like centralized exchanges etc; having said that, there are also services such as mixers and coinjoin, that makes it impossible to trace a Bitcoin transaction.
What are your thoughts on these regulations? Do you think it defeats the purpose of bitcoin's creation?
Most centralized exchanges have always required their users to undergo compulsory KYC before they can trade on their platform, it's not really new and its up to you to protect your identity by choosing the service you use. As far as stricter regulations are concerned, I don't think the government can go farther than using centralized exchanges to trap people, that's why users who value their privacy choose P2p trade and wallets that they are in control of the seed phrase and private keys.

If all three of the target going to Arsenal in January, then Arteta already has some talent who "might" save Arsenal from their struggle. But, do Arsenal have enough funds to get the three of them amid these conditions?
They have to make the funds available if they want to save their season from total collapse, Arsenal are 15th on the EPL table, they must spend this January to change their fortunes and climb up the table, Arteta is also going to be pressing really hard to get the players he wants, cause it's his job that's on the line if Arsenal continue playing the way they are doing.
