4241  Economy / Reputation / Re: My bitcointalk account got misused by my friend on: September 28, 2021, 07:38:56 PM
Did you hand him your Skype account too?!
Hah, nice catch!

To me this sounds like just another bullshit story we heared countless time before. But even (for the sake of argument) say that what you are saying is right, how can anyone believe you as you are ready tu give your account to other people? Just that fact alone makes you untrustworthy.
4242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are you taking the China Bitcoin Ban? on: September 28, 2021, 07:30:35 AM
What do you think about this? How are you taking this ban?
Taking it pretty much the same way I took all other previous bans in other countries, meaning not caring about it at all. It is true that this ban is probably the harshest so far in China and market reacted to it, but to be honest, the less Bitcoin has to do with China, the better. So whatever happens, its not bad for Bitcoin in the long run.
4243  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: September 27, 2021, 09:29:56 AM
The bottom line is local board only help members earn merit easier.
Nope, generalization. Some boards do have high merit/post ratio, while others are struggling. My local board (Croatian) struggled a lot until this recent increase in merit sources, with our merit/post average being lower than many English boards.

Without local boards, they can discuss well in English, in international boards so to be honest, in most of cases, local boards are used not because of limitations in English.
This forum would be way less active if there are no local boards so I think that they are great addition. What you obviously fail to understand is that is perfectly normal for people to be more relaxed communicating in their own language, even if they are fluent in English. To be honest, its kinda weird hearing this from you...somehow I thought that you are proponent of local boards.

I can bet that the average quality of posts that received merit would be lower than merited English posts.
Again generalization. While it's true that some local boards have more merit sources and its easier to get merit, same goes for English speaking boards.

Chinese aren't included
Rikafip explained the reason for that several times. During most months, more posts get deleted in the Chinese board than new ones are written. That results in a negative post count at the end. Looking at previous months, the last (and maybe only time) it was included was in March 2021. It would look silly to have look at the charts and see a local community who has written -27 posts, for example.
Yep, that was situation up until now and the reason why Chinese board was mostly left out of charts. But since I started using ninjastic.space for Russian board, it is logical to expand it for others too so Chinese will most likely be included in the next month's overview.
4244  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: September 25, 2021, 05:22:22 PM
For example, I want to know how many merit senders and receivers have been in the Local Board Indonesian since January 24, 2018 until now. I'm having trouble getting it from Merit Dashboard, can you share some information?
You mean something like this, merit senders and receivers per month?

Source: https://public.tableau.com/views/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/MeritSendersReceivers?:language=en-US&:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link

Or if you want total amount of merit senders and receivers, this is one of the ways to see it. List is much longer, you just have to scroll it down. Looking at it, there have been 1542 merit senders and 1423 merit receivers on your board since January 24th 2018 up until now, or more precisely September 24th.

4245  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: September 25, 2021, 08:02:53 AM

Jo jedan rekord oboren, merit/post ratio nam stvarno izgleda odlicno.

Lista aktivnih clanova naseg boarda u periodu 1.08-31.08.

Cheesy

As usual, I ask permission to take some data from this latest update post to complete my thread. I think it will be much more complete if I also add the most active posters on other Local Board as comparison for the Indonesian Local Board. Hopefully it can help the posters of the Indonesian Local Board to be encouraged to be even more active in posting quality things.
As I told you before, no need to ask for permission, feel free to use these charts whenever you want. As long as you mention the source of course.

Just wondering why Pakistan doesn't appear in this above graph of "Merit senders and receivers"? I know since Pakistan is not a local board technically and may be tracking individual sender receiver might be tricky?
Because Merit Dashboard tracks that only for boards, not specific topics. There are probably ways to get that info for Pakistan topic (manually counting?) so if you figure it out and can provide the info I will include it in the chart.

He only tracks merits distributed in sections which have their own local boards. Local threads, such as that of Pakistan are not included. I don't think it would make much sense to include the Pakistani local thread without also including the threads of Bangladesh, Serbia, Vietnam, Ukraine, etc. The names I mentioned are based solely on the number of posts in those language sections. And if you include one or two, there are always going to be questions why didn't you also include this one or that one...
I do track merit for 3 communities that don't have their own local board (Nigerian, Pakistan and Bangladesh), but not senders/receivers due before mentioned reasons. Originally, Serbian topic was included in those charts too (from 10/2020 to 04/2021), but post activity there dropped so much that I decided to remove it and focus only on those communities that have regular activity and some chances of getting their own local board, as that was the idea behind adding communities that don't have their own local boards, to somewhat help them, or at least try.

Same old same old, China banning Bitcoin. This sums it up Cheesy

I remember back in old days ( for me that's 2013-2014) I used to worry about news like that, but now I caae t the point where I don't care about short term stuff like that as I am into this for a long run anyway.

The occasional mention of Bitcointalk in Croatian forums about technology, IT, and stuff like that could maybe get some new people interested.
I tried that, to no avail. Thinking if it, I talked to every single person I know IRL (that is into crypto) about bitcointalk and responses I got were from "bitcointalk is one big signature campaign circlejerk and echo chamber" (that's coming from veterans) to "what can I find on bitcointalk that I can't find someplace else" (mostly coming from new people). Neither is true, but that's how they perceive bitcointalk.

It's the same thing with the 3rd most active Russian - The0ldl_lser. Not a single post in English in the first 5 pages of his post history.
Azrieli has a few posts in English, but the majority of his writing also takes place in the local sub.
That's one of the advantages of big boards like Russian, German and Turkish; they are practically self-sufficient and members can find everything inside their own board. So even if they know English to some degree, majority of them will just rather stay there.
4250  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: September 24, 2021, 09:43:41 AM
[ I remain skeptical.
Fair enough. Based on my recent track record, I am too Grin

It's nice to see those improved numbers in the Croatian local. Especially the stats about the number of merits per board and the merit/post ratio. The data shows that every second post is getting merited, which is pleasant.
Merit wise, we are finally where we wanted to be and for the first time those that are mostly active in our board can't complain that it's hard to rank up.

But I am wondering when we (the Croatian local) will get a decent new newbie who will start his journey on Bitcointalk and decide to stick around...
Yep, that's the biggest issue we have at the moment. It's not a comfort, but I guess that similar situation is in the other local boards and forum in general so we are not an exception here. I tried to bring some people to bitcointalk, to no avail. And if recent Bitcoin rally to 60k+ didn't bring more people to bitcointalk, I don't now what will.

So the conclusion is if users focus on getting merit in local board then I'm sure they will take a little longer to rank up because the number of scattered merit is still less than 300 per month and most senders don't have the habit of sending more than 1 merit per tx.
That bolded part reminded me of something I wanted to add some time ago, and that is merit per transaction chart. Iirc I gave up because some low activity boards had numbers completely screwed up (e.g one transaction of 20 merits) that would mess up the chart. Anyway, I made it now and maybe I'll add it to my monthly overview.

4251  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: September 24, 2021, 08:08:42 AM
The long awaited brief overview of the local board activity is finally here, with the help of @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja ninjastic space.

Communities marked with * don't have their own local boards (yet).

Post activity per local board during August 2021

After several months of absence due the way Merit Dashboard counts the post, Russian board is back on the charts. After some deliberatio I've decided to use ninjastic.space when it comes to Russian board (from the next month I will expand that to other boards as well) post count as by the looks of it there is a lot of things going on there, with topics being deleted/moved around month after month, constantly affecting the numbers. They will be slighly inflated as it will include deleted posts, but I guess we will have to live with it.

Regarding the activity of the other boards, there is no much change compared to July 2021 as top 10 stayed pretty much, with relatively similar numbers. Now when summer is behind us, hopefully numbers go up.

Communities without local board are still looking strong, with Pakistan board being the most active one, followed by Nigerian and are looking pretty good compared to those with local board, especially considering the constrictions of writing everything in one thread which definitely affects their numbers.

Merit shared per local board during August 2021

Compared to July 2021, total amount of merit shared during August stayed approximately the same ( 6905 in July vs 6860 in August). No changes at the top; Russian board is far ahead the others, followed by Turkish, Italian and German.

I don't know what's happening with German board, but they used to be 2nd most merited board for a long time, often having around 1000 merit shared, but lately their numbers keep going down. Another "looser" during August was Portuguese board as their number of merit shared dropped by 50%, from 372 during July to only 187 in August which is low number for one of the most active local boards.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during August 2021

One more chart that looks similar to previous one, with usual names at the top. It's good to see that both German and Portuguese boards are keeping their numbers relatively high, despite the decrease of merit shared.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for June 2021

Once again blue colour dominates the chart (with a few exceptions) meaning majority of boards benefited from the recent increase in source merit. Let's hope it stayes the same in months to come so that red color keeps increasing as well.

The most active members per local board during August 2021

For the end of this overview, list of top 10 most active members per local board. Kudos to them for keeping their boards alive and kicking!

You are absolutely right, I am long overdue. Cheesy

I started making those charts few weeks ago, but then I went on a couple of week-long trips that seriously affected my forum activity, including finishing those charts. With that being said, procrastinating/traveling time is over so this monthly overview should be out most likely tomorrow, Saturday the latest!
4253  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [CHARTS]Yearly, Monthly & Weekly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board on: September 22, 2021, 04:15:09 PM
I always wondered why the admins didn't opt for creating an Ex-Yu board, for example, instead of having a Croatian local and then a separate Serbian thread.
Yep, it is interesting indeed, especially considering the fact that Parazyd asked exactly that in [REQ] Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian section in the "Other Languages" forum. Maybe theymos decided to make Croatian as from what I can see, it was way more active than Serbian topic while Bosnian was created years later.

Both Croatians and Serbs speak and understand "Bosnia," it would make more sense to rename the local board to Bosnian local board to give the two countries equal rights
I am sorry, but you are talking about stuff you know little (or nothing) about if you think that this would make any sense to change the name now or that would make people from Serbia writing more there, as situation regarding Balkan countries and languages is extremely complicated and always gets political.

the Serbians will always be a minority on that board, and the topic of discussion is focused on what's going on in Croatia; bringing in a Serbia discussion will be seen as off-topic. Feedom is gold, I understand why they needed a separate board.
It's true that they are minority, but some of the most active members of Croatian boards are from Serbia and I think that both them and Croatian board are benefiting from them being active there, despite the fact that they can't really talk much about crypto stuff that is going on in Serbia (at least not open specific topics about it).

Since purpose of this thread (I guess) is to show your strength and get your own local board (which you definitely deserve and I am sure that you will eventually get), wouldn't it make more sense to share those charts in Request for Nigeria local board?

I know some people that are buying luxury watches  (Omega, Rolex etc) as a sort of investment. Allegedly they even increase in price once each of the series is sold out.

I am personally still holding majority in BTC, but plan is to get some real estate too, just have to decide what and where. Mostly likely it will be apartment that I can rent via airbnb in the meantime.
4255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Scammers put bad impact to Our Government about Bitcoin Transections. on: September 21, 2021, 06:52:50 PM

I think Digital Currency like Crypto isn't getting much popularity because of these Scammers. They are one of the most strong reason why Government's aren't showing interest on Crypto Transections.

Disagree with the bolded part. Government don't like things that they can't control, or that don't know how to control, at least for now, hence they don't like Bitcoin. What they don't mind though is getting profit from it via taxes.

What I would like to know though is how that scammer bought BMW; using crypto, or fiat money? Cheesy
4256  Economy / Economics / Re: [LIST] Countries that own bitcoin on: September 21, 2021, 04:52:15 PM
The list is far larger.

United states have already seized some bitcoins from criminal activities, which they own now. I think that it is also likely other countries are doing the same:

I also found this link from Investopedia, whcih mentions United States, Bulgaria, Sweden and North Korea as hoarding bitcoin.

Imho, it doesn't make sense to include those countries on the list of those just because they temporarily own some seized  bitcoin as they will sell it off anyway, like they usually do with the seized stuff. For all we know, some of those countries may sold it already.

But yeah, I think it's way too early for lists like this.

Vec si trebao skuziti dkbit98 i njegov nacin zajebancije. Cheesy

Those first few have some crazy number of reports, keep it up!

Considering how less active I have been for the last 4-5 months months I must say that I am surprised that i ended up being in top 10. Then again, it means that not many people are bothering with that anymore which is not a surprise as reporting is usually a thankless job.

As @The Pharmacist said, maybe its time for some badges as that would certainly boost the future numbers.

Hopefully they stop doing this BS and move on and do something legitimate. I feel bad to those people that bought when the pump happened and at the same time doesn't know about Goldario and how they are a pump and dump scheme, this is what they get for not doing some research before investing.
To be honest, I don't feel sorry for them because it was bound to happen as they are led by pure greed and nothing more so if it didn't happen with Goldario, it would happen with something else.. What I hope though is that they learned the valuable lesson and will avoid similar mistakes in the future.

This is almost a year old accusations and I am pretty surprised and appalled that they're still doing fine and at the same time has been able to pump the prices. I wish that no one has fallen for this scam so badly.
Yep, they are still alive and kicking, but I dont think that they are doing fine. ICO price of GLD was 1 USD and currently it's around 0.07 USD which is a 93% drop, meaning everyone that invested got rekted badly. Add on that all those that bought GLD during that pump when price went up 1000% and you got quite a few people loosing their money over this scammy project.
