4241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bought £700 worth of a cryptocurrency I don't know much about, is this moonshot? on: June 20, 2021, 05:51:19 PM
Thanks in advance if you know much about ETH blockchain or this current project!
You just put the cart before the horse, instead of the other way round. A whopping £700 on a project isn't a small money to be thrown into a project without making proper investigations on the project. If you must ask others about a project, do that first before investing in it. I wouldn't take such risk if I were you.

Learn not to invest your money in such a project you can't determine what the team is up to. Moreover is a big money that you have involved in it for a project of such not listed in a reputable exchange. Your enquiry here when you have already invested is not a wise idea. Make research first before you get your money in.
Exactly my point too. I wish OP had done the DYOR stuff pre-investing than post-investing.
4242  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you feel happy on getting merits ? on: June 20, 2021, 03:03:20 PM
Merit is, figuratively speaking (actually, writing to be precise), a pat on the back. Everyone loves to have such moments of "well done" for a job rightly executed once people get to read your posts and have merit to throw on the posts at the same time. Otherwise, your posts pass unnoticed. That's the way I see it. Personally, I feel happy when I get merit thrown on posts I make. Once I notice that increment, I want to go back and read the posts that were merited to know what would've caused someone to merit it.
4243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WifeCoin, the only coin you're afraid to FUD on: June 20, 2021, 06:54:21 AM
Soon, we shall also have:

Husbandcoin
Boyfriendcoin
Fianceecoin
Girlfriendcoin
Widowcoin
Widowercoin...

That's if we don't already have some of them.
Come on guys, what's all these mess. This is beginning to make the crypto space laughable because of some greedy devs and their penchant for creating shitcoins.
4244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is buying three bitcoin worth it? on: June 19, 2021, 08:45:23 PM
If your goal is to buy bitcoin at current price then hold to make profit when you dump it at a future price (eg. the guesstimate at $250k) then the answer is no it is not worth it. Bitcoin is not created to be bought and held for profit making.
I find it very difficult to believe that people keep to this belief in reality because a lot of us are in Bitcoin for the gains (no matter how hard we deny it). If you doubt this, just check the traffic here whenever there's a bear run. You would've observed how near empty and dry this place becomes. Even though created as a payment option, Bitcoin has easily become a tradable asset for profiteering.

Rule 1 of investing: Don't invest in anything you do not understand.
This is highly valid and apt! May I also add for OP to read: Don't invest what you can't afford to lose.
4245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder for crypto newbies, traders. Be cautious with new exchanges on: June 19, 2021, 04:41:34 PM
The problem is why do newbies want to go for the new exchanges when there are established ones that are far more reliable and are guaranteed to not run away with your money. Going in with big money as a newbie I think is the biggest mistake that anyone can do especially as the topic says, you are in a new exchange.
Sometimes the newbies (even veteran members too) are pushed to do it when project's they've run bounties for give that as a condition for receiving reward worked for. I found myself in that situation in the recent past. After several weeks of bounty advertisement, the project team asked everyone to open account with an exchange which they controlled. In fact, it was an exchange the project just created once the bounty was drawing to an end. We all did. Rewards were transferred to the exchange to everyone's accounts but locked up. That project never made it. After listing it expectedly died off an an exit scam. I believe this can be one of the reasons for opening accounts with new exchanges.

Happy 30th birthday anniversary, theymos! Wish all the best for you.
Hoo yeah! So, the strong man of BTT just touched 30. I used to think he was way older. He must be the proverbial "Small body big enginee" in my local parlance. There's much sense in that youthful body, when loosely translated. Kudos man 👍

Thanks!

Now that I'm officially an old man
Oh? If 30 is "old", then 50 should be considered octogenarian 😏.

HBD, man with lots of property ahead.
4247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social media advice to newbies on: June 18, 2021, 09:44:53 PM
I still can't believe how many people still falls for it. Someone I know from Discord got scammed out of $500.
It's simply greed that makes people fall to scam. If you asked that friend of yours you will discover that s/he were made an offer s/he felt irresistible. It beggars disbelief really when someone falls for a total stranger offering to help them out on their finances, honestly. But it does happen, even till date. Social media are scammers' paradise
4248  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you know when to sell? on: June 18, 2021, 09:41:02 AM
I know its an individual thing, but if you are in an alt and it is pumping...when is the best time to sell? I feel as though every-time I am in a coin that starts to make some good gain I leave it to long to sell..Anyone else do that. I heard it is because of greed, we star imagining all things we can do with our new profits...
You're absolutely correct about leaving the profit to run because we start imagining things we could buy with it, the cars and posh things. Well, it's the insatiable appetite in every man. There's nothing wrong in doing that. However, you've to be certain you know why a token you're holding is pumping before selling off. If it's pumping because there's an incoming development or programme or collaboration, then still hodl it. Selling off at that point will be premature. But if a token is pumping because someone who has a large subscriber base or followers said buy, then just take your profit immediately it gets to your risk level and run for it's a pump and dump.

Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?
There's no holy grail. Trading is speculative in nature. Your best bet will be to rely on leading indicators and if there isn't any news to distort it, price will surely do what the indicators predict it will do.
4249  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who is selling? on: June 18, 2021, 06:21:18 AM

I dream of the day when alt coins are not tied to the price of bitcoin. Uhg...
But this is already happening. There are certain exchanges that don't pair tokens with Bitcoin. Those days when I used to trade on Idex (a Dex kind of), tokens were paired with ETH. So, it's not as if it hasn't happened before. Even on some Cex, there are still tokens which aren't paired with BTC. Some have pairs in tether.
4250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bite or Birth-day for Trump on: June 17, 2021, 06:52:24 PM
But I really don't know how the American society would have taken it if he (Trump) got to ban twitter operation in there space just like the Nigerian government did which is tantamount to restriction of freedom of speech and expression.
America is a saner society than Nigeria with guarded laws that can get a president impeached if he so much as violate or contravene any. In the US, there are strong institutions that make their democracy work. What Nigeria has is not a democracy but a civilian rule by a cabal and this cabal is from the northern echelon. If the Nigerian president were ruling the US, he would've been shown the exit door through forced resignation or impeachment since.

seoincorporation, it's very easy selling tokens on Trust wallet by connecting your wallet to poocoin.app. Connect by typing poocoin.app on the Dapp browser, choose auto slippage and trade. It's very easy to trigger. You can do that by going to trade. Alternatively, remove the last zero in the quantity you're buying if you're having issues swapping and then replace it immediately and then swap. It will go through. However, you've to make sure you're on the right contract address because a lot of tokens with similar name do pop out on poocoin.app when you search. I advise you copy and paste the token contract rather than use its name to search it.

4253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A book to read on when to sell (before a crash) on: June 16, 2021, 03:05:37 PM
Hi,
I am not willing to trade on a daily basis, but I know for example about the 2017 crash.
Is there a reputable book, written by a reputable author, on how to know when to sell? It's like if a crypto goes 50x in one year there is a chance at some point that there will be a crash. I need to know APPROXIMATELY when I should sell.

Thank you!
Certainly, none! There's no book that points anyone in that direction to know exactly when to sell. However, some do tell of certain signs to watch out for before a collapse. Some of these signs are also based on instinct. Every discerning adult has that instinct. Ruefully, not many pay attention to it though. For instance, I'm bullish on Bitcoin in 2021 until the last quarters of the year before I can begin to get skeptical. My reason is simply based on the fact that this is a post Bitcoin halving year. Every post halving year for Bitcoin has produced a tremendous rally. So, I don't expect anything different this year. It's the same way there will be that bearish year to follow too. So, I'm guessing the second quarters of 2022 will become red for the market. This is history, and history has a way of repeating itself.
4254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Practical Advice For A Beginner Trader? on: June 16, 2021, 09:09:16 AM
I tried trading Bitcoin a couple of years ago but quit after I lost $300. What advice do you have for me if I decide to start trading again? Thank you!
First, did you find out why you lost? Yes? No? If you found out why you lost then you're a step ahead to achieving success but if you didn't, it simply means you've to devout more time to learning. Trading is a profession and must be handled like every other profession that demands time and practice like medicine, law, engineering, teaching, journalism etc. Ironically, people hop into trading without getting themselves armed with the least knowledge of it. Going into trading without the required skills set is akin to gambling, simple and short.
4255  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: your worst mistake on: June 16, 2021, 08:12:26 AM
This is the common mistakes of every beginner, I also invested almost $500 before in a project token without doing any research about it and end up losing it all, I also invested in a scam investment website that offers to double your money for just one day and just end up also being scammed. Hoping that beginners wouldn't do the same, they can avoid these things if they will do research first before engaging in it.
I don't know if the current newbies will have an idea of what doubling sites/doublers are as I don't think they exist anymore. Doublers were prevalent pre-2017. I also fell victim in 2017 as a noob in this industry. The site baited me by returning my investment with the doubled amount the first time. I felt I had hit a goldmine. I started getting lots of ideas what I could do with multiplied investments batch after batch. Lol... You know, like counting one's chicks before they're actually hatched. So, I went in again. That was the last I heard from them. My cash just left me for good. I think I invested around 0.005 the first time and 0.01 was returned to me before I went in full the second time. That was in 2017, around the period senior member ranked campaigns paid 0.012btc to 0.018btc. So, the lost amount wasn't such a big deal then. Now, that would be a great deal of cash.
4256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is Easy dont be afraid just on: June 16, 2021, 06:26:52 AM
The same odds to lose are 50:50 to Win.
You lose Only if You buy When price is Up Green*
Or You Panic selling*
If its correction just buy more.
No, the odds aren't 50:50 actually. There's no guarantee that price goes up when you buy at a dip. It can still dip further after you've bought. No one can sincerely say they're sure where the bottoms are. We are all speculators.

Just make sure You have always other 50% cash to buy the dips*
I like to do this also. Don't put all your cash at once into a single buy on any token. Break it down and buy at intervals when the token dips further.
4257  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fear : The Debacle of a Trader on: June 14, 2021, 02:53:04 PM
FEAR IN DIFFERENT LEVELS

1. Fear of losing out in a trade: This kind of fear is the type that makes your fingers nostalgic or feeble until you trigger the order. The reason you eventually trigger it is because you feel you don't want to stay outside the trade while it "builds profit" but the funny thing about this is that most times when you rush in into such trigger, the market direction immediately changes against you  Grin
Lol, does it happen to you? And the next minutes you are out in loss. Fear factor right ? It pushes you here and there, not good for trade.

2  Fear from not taking your chance: This is another level of fear for me as a learning trader. This level, you see glaring chance to make good trade on a short time but you are not sure whether to go in .

3. Fear of not milking the market: See as a trader, there are times that the market present you an opportunity to take back if not all your losses for the week but a reasonable amount of it but that fear of reversal of direction won't allow you to stay longer and fill up your profit adequately. You rather choose to run out and you watch like a cat outside while price keep filling your existed direction. That's fear, unfortunately you regret outside.
The scenarios OP described here can easily be likened to what happens in forex trading and it's apt. When that fear mixes with excitement (of winning in a trade), it becomes emotion. Emotion is the greatest problem traders have, not even faulty trading plans. When active trades don't hit the spot traders want them to (even when they will eventually do) it causes most emotional traders to abandon their trading plans. Number one on the quoted list is called FOMO in crypto parlance. The first thing every trader has to get rid of should be fear at all levels before risking that capital.
4258  Other / Politics & Society / Bite or Birth-day for Trump on: June 14, 2021, 07:51:32 AM
I saw this on Twitter from this user @RealS8nn as ex-president, Donald Trump, birthday is today. At first glance the cake didn't mean a thing to me. But then, I remembered Trump's support for Twitter ban in Nigeria by the incumbent dictator Mohammadu Buhari. Donald Trump truly deserves all bashing he could get today, really?

Should it be a birthday for him or a biteday? He truly bit the dust in defeat.

4260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feg exchange, Meme with technology? on: June 13, 2021, 06:19:04 PM
What can you say about this project, does it have a future?
Nice to know that FEG stands for Feed Every Gorilla. Some dudes talked about this token in a group I belong and said so many great things about it. Once I took a cursory look at the token I lost interest because of it's huge supply. A meme token at that would make anyone easily lose interest owing to the battered way the other memetokens have performed. However, I think I will take another look at it now that someone has brought it here.
