4261  Other / Beginners & Help / Have you been monitoring your bitcointalk activities ever? on: October 12, 2020, 05:11:26 PM
The thoughts came from this post made by @o_e_l_e_o. So credit goes to him as well.

At the title says, have you been monitoring your forum activities ever? Are you wondering why should you monitor your own activity since still you have access to your account? But I think it's necessary to monitor your activity at least once a day. The reason I will describe below.

Just imagine someone hacked your account somehow and he has full access and the hacker didn't change your password. Then he could send unsolicited PMs to other users, could post plagiarized content from your account, and could scam someone as well. So eventually you would a victim as well and your account would be tagged or ban.

You may think how would you check your actives to make sure if someone accessed your account. First of all, you may check your post history and incoming + outgoing PMs. Hacker would delete PMs, so there would be some difficultly. In that case, your IP log would help if you aren't using the Tor browser. Here is the link: https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php, here you may see past one month IP logs. Again, it won't work if you are using Tor due to a random IP address. But at least you may notice the time when you access your account.

Anyway, it just came into mind due to some recent scam attempt. Scammers always coming with the new techniques, so we need to prevent them as much as possible.
4262  Economy / Reputation / Re: Coolcryptovator's telegram impersonator. on: October 12, 2020, 02:32:30 PM
OP Did you noticed he tried to scam anyone so far or someone reported this to you?
Till now I haven't received any claim about the scam. But scammer has been trying hard to scam, today I have received DM from a user who received an offer from the scammer about selling PayPal. I notified him just to deal with me via the forum with a sign message. I don't even have a PayPal account.

You can report a scam account impersonating you to this profile on telegram https://t.me/notoscam
You can also consider sending an email to abuse@telegram.org about the relevant details.
These should get the fake account taken down to protect other members from such scams.
I think it will not work, everyone is allowed to open account whatever username. Telegram wouldn't prevent them is there is no existing username. But most likely if reported by many users then it would work.

4264  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion about newbies on: October 11, 2020, 06:22:11 PM
The idea is good which I would agree with. But it would be a hard decision for admin and we have seen similar suggestions previously which had been ignored by admin. Admin will have to assign more moderators for that (IMO). Of course, then we might see lots of blam thread against moderators. Is it was concern about spam then admin would think about it, but about scams, it wouldn't possible since it hasn't been moderating by the forum. But you may help the forum by reporting malicious links. Moderators would remove such as link as far as I know. Spreading virus via the forum is against forum rules, doesn't matter if that virus using for scam or not.
4265  Economy / Reputation / Re: How Get-Paid.com can promote the faucets which contains 100% scam ads? on: October 11, 2020, 06:03:31 PM
Now my question to this community. Is actually have any worth of promoting these faucet sites here in this forum which contains the 10000% scam ads?
Where we are so strick to barier even ponzi scheme promoter then how can a 100% scam ads cointains site promote here? Is it reportable to mod? I am happy to hear constructive discussion and you opinions about it. Thank you all.
Report to moderators? I have a hard time understanding if you have lost your memory. Everyone knows that scam isn't moderated by the forum. So usually moderators can't do anything. Hadn't you seen 1xbit banner ads on the forum just a few days back? Who doesn't know that is the scam website? But still, admin approved their ads. We can't expect from admins or moderators to prevent scams since it hasn't been moderated due to prevent moderation abuse.

So many scam sites have been advertising on Google, what we can do? Nothing except make an awareness. Faucet sites advertising scam, it's nothing new. But we don't like to see them on the forum. Also who are advertising scams we hate them, but I don't think it's reasonable to punish them since directly they aren't promoting scam on the forum. Such scams would prevent just controlling your greed. No one will always remind you this is a scam or this isn't a scam. Many scam exchanges were promoted on the forum, we weren't succeeding to prevent them.

I would like to suggest Faucet owners, just add a warning with the disclaimer at least that there would be a risk when you are investing in any third party site linked to this website. But I know it wouldn't possible since their clients will not like such as warning and they might avoid advertising there. So the only way prevents scam to create awareness.
4266  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Wallet Seems to be blocked in Blockchain.com on: October 11, 2020, 05:37:59 PM
This is the worst system of blockchain holding the bought funds for three days. Peoples buying bitcoin to using somewhere, but unfortunately, they have been blocking funds. Due to a lack of knowledge and not read their terms and conditions many threads have been opening about the blockchain problem. It is the disadvantage of using a web wallet. I would like to suggest just don't use blockchain to buy bitcoin, Binance would be better where you can transfer your fund once credited. You must need to use a noncustodial open-source wallet to store your assets. So you will not face any major issue regarding handle your funds.

Anyway, I believe your problem has been solved since its already more than three days. Just take care when you are buying bitcoin in near future.
4267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The mining paradox on: October 11, 2020, 03:09:24 PM
As we know halving happening every four years, so anything could happen during that time. Personally, I believe there would be a few mining machines which will consume very little electricity in near future. Because there are many developers who are working to improve the bitcoin experience. Currently, block rewards & transaction fees are enough to get profits from mining after cover the cost. I am not worried even there is halving and have been reducing block rewards since there are transaction fees. Price isn't really related to the hash rate. It's just to measure the processing power of the bitcoin network, price depends on circulation and demand.

4270  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't reply to private messages from unknown people! on: October 10, 2020, 05:34:55 PM
Have you received it via the forum? If so then simply report to moderators for unsolicited PM. If you received it via mail then just ignore it. I have been receiving such as mail sometimes, but never bothered to reply to them. Because I am 100% sure they are a scammer. They are trying to scam or steal something from me. I am not sure if a few greedy people have been falling into their trap, but most likely there are a few. This is a very old scam scheme, but it would be new for newbies. It's good that you shared it with the community, so it would be a lesson for newbies. Just we need to control our greed.
4271  Other / Beginners & Help / Be careful during use escrow service from the forum. on: October 10, 2020, 05:21:38 PM
I know probably this topic has been discussed previously. But since I am encountering a fact, so I think it should share with the community. And newbies would take a lesson from it. There is a scammer who impersonate my telegram username. I am writing here how this scammer trying to scam.

You may read the above story, besides that, I have received PM from two persons for the escrow service. Perhaps the scammer shares my Bitcointalk profile and gives them an impersonate telegram username. But luckily a user copy pate my telegram username from my profile and asking if I am going to escrow the funds for them. According to the buyer, the seller already contacted me. Another user disappeared when I ask to send me PM via forum from the both user (buyer & seller).  But the reality is, I am fully unaware of such as deal nor I have any escrow service thread here. So wondering why and how they are popping up today for escrow funds.

Conclusion: If you are going to buy anything from the forum and you need to use an escrow service then you must need to talk via forum first. Make sure you are dealing with the right person, not with the impostor. If you aren't sure about the confidentiality of escrow, then create a thread on the reputation board for ask to the community. So you will get the right answer.
4272  Economy / Speculation / Re: history loves repeating itself. the only question is when! on: October 10, 2020, 02:05:19 PM
This isn't a huge change in the current bitcoin price. We have been always encountering such as volatility, I am considering its just normal behavior of bitcoin nature. Most probably we will not repeat ATH very soon. There is DeFi FOMO currently but unfortunately, we can't see much difference in price trend. On the other hand everyone we know about the current situation of the global economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stability bitcoin price on current circumstances if blessing for bitcoin user (IMO). At least O not expecting any big move lately before reset the global ecosystem.

I am assuming currently Jack Dorsey’s FOMO going on.
4273  Economy / Reputation / Coolcryptovator's telegram impersonator. (Changed Telegram Username) on: October 10, 2020, 08:18:12 AM
Since scammers continuously scamming with similar usernames, so I have decided to change my Telegram username to @COOLCRYPTOVATOR

I was quite surprised when yesterday I received a PM, an impostor trying to scam someone. The PM discussion is below.

Did you just contact me via telegram and attempt to sell me a gift card?
No. Be careful from scammer. My Telegram ID is @Coolcryptovator.

I figured

scammers telegram: @CooIcryptovator

I was more surprised when seeing the scammer's telegram username. The good thing is @MiLkz asks me to make sure if I am on the conversation with him on telegram. But the real concern is scammer used I (i) instead of l (L). It's just a matter of capital latter and small latter.

My telegram username is: @Coolcryptovator
Scammer telegram is: @CooIcryptovator
Looking it same, but when you copy-paste to search it will show two different users. I have sent PM to the scammer. It's been requested everyone, before dealing with me via telegram just make sure you are talking with me by sending a forum PM. I have added this to the telegram bio. I will not be responsible if you aren't dealing with me via forum PM.

4275  Economy / Reputation / Re: How do you get rid of the unreliable(red) trust ? on: October 09, 2020, 04:02:30 PM
First of all the feedback isn't showing by default. Then it too older and wondering why OP created this thread too late. Wapinter should use the reference link on such as feedback. Not doing bounty tasks properly and asking for a stake isn't sufficient to leave negative feedback without evidence (if not cheating). Although his feedback isn't worthy of the default trust network, it shouldn't use this way. No matter OP is a spammer, this subject should handle by forum moderators.

Since no one can remove this feedback except Wapinter, so you have to communicate with him or he should reply on this thread if he notices. Otherwise, you may take rest since that feedback wouldn't harm you.

Many countries have been allowing Bitcoin. You should read this topic, List of Countries Where Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency Is Legal & Illegal (Banned). But if you are talking about approve it officially then it wouldn't happen since Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency. There is quite a difference between legalize bitcoin and approved it as an official currency.

Regarding prediction badly end up, there was so may similar prediction from the beginning. But still, Bitcoin is alive and I believe it will be live for a long time or forever. This kind of prediction wouldn't affect the bitcoin, because Bitcoin always depends on its community.

It Seems OP disappeared after made this post. There is a couple of question above made by other users that need an answer to get to give an appropriate solution. A few suggestions have been given on above replies, I can say that you may stay fearless if your wallet address is correct on the block explorer and if you are holding the seed of your Electrum wallet. Your money wouldn't go then. Since it was synchronized before yesterday means it should work today as well. Assuming you are using the latest version of the original software. You need to make sure your internet speed is enough to synchronize the wallet. Please help by giving more details to spot the problem.

It's really surprising to me, the amount of shutdown exchange is quite high. The problem is a few exchanges just skipped with the user's funds. This means they scam their traders. Those exchanges shutdown for a hacking reason, I am quite suspicious about them. Who knows the reality if they are doing just a hacking drama. On the other hand, when an exchange shutdown, then so many shitcoin will shut down at the same time. Lots of shitcoin have been trading on a single exchange. So, in the end

It really depends on the situation, the outcome would be different in different circumstances. Since you are writing about other's feedback, PM should send by tagged user. You would send PM if the feedback sender is on your custom trust network. If the sender does not agree to review feedback then two actions would be appropriate from your end. First of all, you may leave counter feedback, doesn't matter you aren't a DT member. The second action would be to distrust him from your custom trust list. Any other action (like open reputation thread) should take by the feedback receiver.
