That is not how pps actually works, but without going into details i personally find pps pools to be the most profitable for my case, first reason is my internet connection reliability, second reason is the miners' stability, third reason, i treat mining like a business, i like to know exactly how much btc per day i am going to get regardless of the pool's luck, but again everyone has their own way of doing things, for pplns pools you have slushpool (large pool) abd ck and kano pools ( small pools) i am not aware of any mid-sized pools, but i am sure the others members might have a clue.

The software looks good, I, however, see a username and password, and it seems like you are planning to sell that piece of software, which might not work out well for you because there are a few existing tools that do that for free and the once I am aware of are asic.to and awesome miner, those two unlock SSH access for FREE, and the rest of the settings like mass pool settings, fan settings can all be done via SSH commands for free.

It's nice to have all those goodies on a single GUI, but I am not sure if people will want to pay for it, especially that the source is unknown with all due respect, I hope my honesty won't put you down, keep working on it and I wish you good luck.

There is no mathematically or scientifically proven fact that bitcoin will climb after the halving, and nobody should enter the mining business with the assumption that bitcoin price will increase after the halving, if you can't survive a 50% drop in rewards without any price increase, or even worse a price drop then you shouldn't be mining.

If someone is 100% sure that price is going to the moon, they should simply buy the coin and hold it, it costs nothing to hold, easier to sell, no work is required, no risk of gears failure, house on fire and etc.

Sadly people mine at nicehash under the wrong impression that it pays more, I blame their calculators and the lack of accuracy and details in other mining profitability calculators, take a look here.

Settings changed to 7 days profitability, mining to a pool > Nicehash.

But even with the assumption that nicehash is always slightly more profitable, the fact that it could very likely kill your gear plus so many other reasons, it makes no sense to use nicehash, if you want steady payouts use a proper pps+ pool and mine BITCOIN, don't give away your hash power to be used on some shitcoins you don't even know.

That is pretty normal for a shitty support like nicehash, almost everyone and their grandmother use asic boost firmware by now, so they should have asked you about the firmware you were actually using, and that is July 2019 which is actually ASIC boost firmware.

SSH access is disabled on all new firmware made by Bitmain.


When you upgrade the firmware, all mining operations stop, no need to do any of that.


By USB you mean sdcard?


It did exactly what it says it did, you have the latest firmware installed ALREADY, you flashed the same version, it did go through, but nothing changed, that is pretty normal, if you try to downgrade the firmware or flash a non-bitmain firmware you will get Failed! signature not found.

TL;DR

you don't really have any problem, you got the latest firmware, your miner is up and running, you are just trying to mine to a bad "pool" with the wrong settings.

I have put my hands on a dozen of new mining gears, but i really don't have enough experience with the plugs arrangements, simply because i don't dissemble most of them, and since these are new gears i doubt anyone has seen a large enough sample to confirm the theory.

If i had to guess based on old gears at least, i would say "Yes", they come in order, but again it doesn't really matter, simply follow the ribbon cable from the hash board to the control board, i wouldn't risk "blindly" unplugging those because you might end up unplugging good working boards, everything is labeled on on the control board, it takes no skills whatsoever to know where does the cable from say chain 1 go to.

It is pretty easy to do.

Step 1:

Find the bad board from the GUI, either by the following BitMaxz's method (keep in mind that his picture is for S9, where it labels the chains as 6,7,8 which is different from the new models that show 1,2,3) or by searching for these words in the kernel log


copy the exact words, hit ctrl+F and paste it in the kernel log, let's say you get the following


This means Chain 1 is bad.

Step 2:

Allocate the bad board in the miner, when you stand in front of the miner, facing the ethernet port they go 1,2,3 (left to right)



They can double-check the numbering by reading the label near the socket where the ribbon cable goes, disabling the board is an easy process too, of course, step 2 must be done while the miner is powered-off.

Your numbers look reasonable to me, except for the quoted part, i highly doubt we have 10-20 EH of s11/S15, those gears are pretty rare, but let us just assume your final number is even better than mine as far as predicting that difficulty can still easily go above ath after the halving despite price staying below 8k, if the current average is 40w/th then my predictions will fail, the higher the average the more likely we climb up a few weeks post halving.

What do you think is the average watts/th we have now? If it is 50w/th.. say we drop 30% post halving and we be at 70eh, if a good number of miners get S17 pro and more efficienct gears we can simply double the hashrate to 140eh without price having to do a thing, please let me know where does my estimates fail here.

بامتلاك اكتر من 50% يصبح الحوض قادر على تنفيد هجوم 51%..يمكنه ايضا اعطاء اولوية لتحويلات دون غيرها.. تعدين بلوكات فارغة لتعطيل التحويلات..من الناحية المادية ليس من المنطق ان يقوم اي حوض بفعل ذلك.. ولكن لا يمكن ان نضع انفسنا تحت رحمة حوض تعدين ونتوقع من اصحابه انهم لن يقومو بفعل شي غبي.. ربما يكونو اغبياء.. ربما يتم اختراقهم.. الضغط عليهم من قبل حكومتهم لعمل اشياء هم لا يريدونها.. في الواقع الشخص المنطقي لن يحاول ان يسيطر على نصف الهاش ريت بغض النظر عن المكسب فالمسؤلية اكبر من ان يتحملها حوض واحد.

Your pool settings are bad, take a screenshot of your pool settings and status page, check for an extra space in the pool url or worker details, use more than one pool (try to fill the 3 of them) for an example.

نعم  صحيح اخي..اكبر شركة حاولت السيطرة على الهاش ريت بطريقة او باخرى كانت بتماين، ولفترة لابأس بها كانو فعلا مسيطرين بامتلاكهم اكبر حوضيض تعدين، لحسن الحظ تمت محاربتهم على جبهتين، الاولى فيما يخص الاحواض والتانية فيما يخص اجهزة التعدين والتلاعب واستخدام كود مفتوح والتعديل عليه بدون نشر التعديلات التي هي ملزمة بنشرها استنادا على رخصة وقوانين للكود المفتوح المصدر cgminer.

استمر الظعط عليهم ولحسن الحظ فاز المجتمع في حرب الاحواض بدعم احواض جديدة كبرت وبدات تنافس احواض بتماين ولكن على صعيد الاجهزة بتماين انتصرت وفرضت رائيها للاسف، ما اخشاه هوا وصول باينانس لتلك المرحلة التي تصبح الحرب ضدها بكون جدوى.. من ناحية حوض التعدين انا مطمئن نسبيا..لا اعتقد انهم سيسيطرون على البتكوين.. ارجح كلام الاخ hugeblack فربما هم ساعون ورا العملات البديلة.

اما موضوع cmc فهو مصدر قلق بالنسبة لي للأسف.

I have explained in details how will a whooping 50% drop in hashrate has a very little period of adjustment delay ( 1 extra week), i have also explained that just because rewards cut in half hashrate won't follow, proof is, we went from 8k to 4k during the same epoch, hashrate did not decrease by over 15% , 8k to 4k is the same as 12.5 btc to 6.25btc , because we pay our bills in $$ after all.

I want you to explain, why do you think the delay will be massive when the numbers in front of you state the opposite?

I agree to your statement, mining is now business driven more than any time in the past, but if a bunch of hobby miners made it during the halving, then huge farms with tons of money and planning will do even better.

Tl;DR

The halving is overrated, it will have no real huge impact on neither price nor hashrate, it will pass smoothly, and in a few months  we will break the all time high of hashrate regardless of price.

انا مثفق معك في كون ان كل الشكوك مبنية على تكهنات حتى الان, ولكن لا  اثفق معك في كون عدم قدرتنا على فعل شي, ببساطة يمككنا البدء فعليا في البحث عن بديل عن CMC , يمكننا مقاطعة حوض التعدين الخاص بهم عند قيامه, هدا اقل مايكن فعله, سيكون من الجيد بداء موضوع خاص نناقش فيه بدائل CMC ونقارن مايوجد فه ومايوجد في CMC بعد استحواد باينانس عليه, لربما نجد تلاعبات واضحة.

So half epoch  = 1 week
second half >  at 100% hashrate = 1 week / at 50% hashrate = 2 weeks

so the worst-case scenario will be 1+2 (3 weeks) before difficulty drops again - 25%.

The above are rough figures, not taking price change into account, also -50% drop in hashrate is not possible, it's only possible if miners were barely profitable, which is not the case, there is enough room for more than 50% of miners to stay, so in my estimation, the worst I expect in terms of difficulty adjustment is 4 extra days.


The numbers don't matter, it's the ratio the does, a 100ET is no different than 1EH prior to the halving 4 years ago, the impact is the same.

We always tell people to switch ribbon cables and 6pin PSU cables, that's like the ABC for troubleshooting a bad board, but I very rarely hear from someone that a ribbon cable or a 6pin cable caused the problem, it's almost always the hashboard itself.


Switching to BraiinOS alone doesn't fix the problem, you should lower the frequency / increase the voltage or both,  thierry4wd will assist you better in this regards, he probably knows some exact figures to use, but you can start by lowering the frequency to below 500mhz, you can do that from the setting in the GUI of BraiinOS.


Kernel log is incomplete, it's missing the part where it counts board's Asics.
