4261  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who the hell is still mining on GHash.IO? GTFO that pool already!!! on: June 15, 2014, 04:26:04 AM
Bravo on Bitcoin industrial mining giant, Bitfury, for moving off of Ghash.IO!

This is what we need more of.  More of the big fish and whales moving off that pool, as small time miners, though valiant, won't make a noticeable dent in overall hashrate like when a company the size of Bitfury does it.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitfury-pulls-power-ghash-community-uproar/

They're an asic manufacturer that mines for themselves and never hid it, but at least their actions moving off Ghash is a big time win for all of us.  Kudos Bitfury!
4262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 15, 2014, 04:06:56 AM
its not about shipping cost or anything u mentioned above...

lets calculate the real cost here...
Quote
1 x RK-Box 450G = 1BTC (latest price)

assume we buy 3 RK-box (3BTC + 0.6BTC shipping)
now we need 3 RPI assume it 0.23BTC
and the last thing, we need 3 PSU assume it 0.47BTC
total : 4.3BTC
now we got 1.35 TH/s cost us around 4.3BTC
so, for this spec. 1BTC can get us 313GH/s (1350/4.3)

Quote
now we calculate the Antminer S2
1 x S2 1TH/s = 3.194 BTC (coupon)

for this S2, we dont need other accessories to run it
its all included
so, for this spec. 1BTC can get us 310GH/s (1000/3.225)

Conclusion :
RK-box - for mid player in mining, if ur wallet is not big enuf
S2 - only for big wallet

your math is not correct. for lots of us.

A) rasp pi don't need it  why I have a pc that has my mining covered cost = 0
B) psu's hmm at least 5 off line psu's  maybe 6 some are 1300 watt golds and some are 1000 watt plat's cost = 0
c) 3 rk-boxes = 3 btc   or just under 1800 usd   hash at 1350 gh

so spend 1800 usd and get 1350 hash vs spend 2200 and get 1th

many miners are mulling exactly the above and not your figures.  GRANTED SOME MAY BE DOING YOUR IDEA of the cost

but i know many are doing what I just printed.

I also like that an entire rk box dies I still have 900th of hash.

my s-2 dies I have 0 hash.

I may buy 1 rk box per week and spread my cost out slowing increasing the hash .  depends on how they run.

THEY MUST RUN AS GOOD AS AN S-1

I figure S-1's are better then 95% good closer to 97-98% .  if the rk-box is that reliable it will sell like mad.

Most of your math is good Philipma, but doesn't look like it factored in the $450 shipping that someone said it costs to ship the 4 minimum units required.

If this is indeed true, not as good a deal as we anticipated.

4263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] 5TH/s BTC Olympus ZEUS Bitcoin Mining Rig Open for Sale. on: June 15, 2014, 03:09:17 AM
Dunno.  I haven't seen it, I was just doing a little educated guessing.  Last year they sold a ton of preorders for this Poseidon 3 unit as they call it.  They got the money, but never shipped any units (or some tiny amount like 10).  Now here they are a few months later offering cloud mining with Poseidon 3 units.  I was just putting two and two together; when I asked them this, they vehemently denied ever taking preorders and not delivering, then when I pointed out that THEY THEMSELVES told us about it in the OP, they said they didn't mean for it to happen, "it just happened".
Selling a ton a pre-orders then not shipping anything doesn't give confidence. Right there in itself is a scam and should be clearly stated.

Well yes, that is why I mentioned it, so anyone who does business with this company knows exactly what kind of scumbags they are dealing with.

Lol you sound so hypocritical.  First you say they're a legitimate business because they have a cloudmining operation then you say they're scumbags.  Make up your mind!   Cool

I never said they were a legitimate business, and I have no idea what you read that gave you that impression.  What I said was that I personally do believe the miners are real, and that they stole them from their paying customers.  Not trying to get into an argument here but seriously, reread what I wrote, nothing I said was at all a positive endorsement  Smiley

Any one got a unit? Are these guys for real?

Also what date is June shipping?

If you ask if these guys are for real, you already know the answer to the question... Wink

No, they're for real.  They do have a cloud mining operation.  Where do you think those 750+ units they sold but never delivered went?

Maybe you should re-read what you write before posting.   Grin

Pretty good ponzi scheme they got going there!   Tongue

Most ponzi's look good in the beginning.  Doesn't prove they're a legitimate business, until they show they have provable mining equipment as stated numerous times.
4266  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] CoinTerra TerraMiner 1.6 TH/s on: June 14, 2014, 06:15:17 PM
Uh, so this is a potential scam or what.. legit?

Without pictures of the miner with name and date, assume so.

That's pretty much standard around these parts, especially from a non senior or hero member.
4267  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] CoinTerra TerraMiner 1.6 TH/s on: June 14, 2014, 05:42:23 PM
Any pictures of the unit with your BCT name hand written with today's date would be helpful in your sale.   Smiley

Buyer uses escrow of course.
4268  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Never make a ROI on: June 14, 2014, 03:12:31 PM
For example I purchased my first Antminer S1 through Sushi's group buy in early February for 1.45BTC

I set it up and overclocked it to 200 GH/s and started mining on February 12th.

Using http://retrocalc.net/ I see I've roughly made 0.8 off that 1 Antminer S1(2.24 Total BTC mined).

I don't think making nearly $500 off of one miner(out of several I bought) is just barely making ROI, do you?  Another factor is I luckily have free electricity, so helps a great deal.

Now I've sold most of my Ants, but I've held onto Antminer #1, as that little guy is proof that you can ROI in this difficult environment.  He'll always have a place in my BTC heart.... Cry

You didn't make $500. If you sold right now you'd make about half that due to the drop in price since February. You don't make a profit or a loss until you sell. Until then, it's imaginary.

It's not imaginary.  I've made over 0.81 BTC with the single Antminer S1 I'm still running.  Put in February 12 to June 14 and 200 GH/s:

http://retrocalc.net/

Forget the fiat for a second, I've made 0.81 profit from my 1.45BTC invest.  So 0.81 is pure up coins.  So 0.81 x current exchange rate = $456 or so since BTC price dipped a little.

I always use coins to buy miners, so don't factor the exchange price then and now.  Coins in, coins out.

Hope that makes sense to you now.

Chuck

the X3's will be delivered after the next difficulty change
cause they're mining ... with our chips

maybe not with the complete X3 but with something like that
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=621601.20

if they are mining with our X-3s, then they are acting dishonest.

Of course they are, we already know they mine with our X1s:

4271  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What miners could I buy today and would ship in 2 weeks or less? on: June 14, 2014, 02:49:50 PM
Is this what you're talking about:

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140429083756017VwGm90Xx06B5

If you ask enough around these forums, I think someone might have either a $200 or $400 off coupon on the S2.

Also, there's these miners:

Lee Group Dragon 1T miner:

Beastlymac group buy:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=646857.0

Darkfriend77 group buy:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=648622.0

$1599 Dragon from Easy2Mine:

Hope that helps.

4272  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best miner to buy when not paying for electricity? on: June 13, 2014, 08:52:51 PM
Thanks, it's a bit of a joint venture with a friend who's new to crypto. So maybe a cheaper one might be a good way to break him in to this expensive hobby Wink

A good break in miner would be either the Rx-Box or the Antminer S1.

Mid tier maybe the Habanero or the RK-Box.

Farm status the Dragon's, A1's, Antminer S2's, Spondoolies and above.

They left their pool settings in Sorehammer's video at 5:20

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzSBwW21kBw

Two things.  One, they could have that there as the default pool.  Which is how Antminers come, until you set them, they mine for Bitmain.  Second, if they ARE mining with everyone equipment then we don't really have to worry about the difficulty going up when people start getting their hardware, as it's already been factored in.

I know that every company mines for themselves, that's a given.

I was just pointing out the pool that they decided to mine on...it's fitting!

Mine for themselves, even though they said they wouldn't.  Check.

Mine on the worst possible pool for the community.  Check

Failure to ship miners on time, even though they've had working ones it seems for awhile.  Check

I should have said Triple Whammy.   Cool
Where is it seen that they are hashing on ghash? All of their photo's / video are on f2pool. If its referencing that youtube video that is not black arrow its a customer machine / review.

The customer was going to enter his pool settings(check the 5:20 mark of the Youtube video), when the field was pre populated with Black Arrow's GHash.IO worker settings, Xmark.x1

The customer was merely posting his unboxing and setup experience, when he comes across BA's pool settings.

Get a couple of Dragons or A1 based miners @ 1 TH/s each.

They've come down in price so they're around the $1500-$1800 range now.

Either that or if you're more budget conscious, get a few Antminer S1s.

Thank you ChuckBuck. You're input is appreciated. I was thinking about the pricier ones you mentioned, but thought I'd pick some brains before diving in.

No problem.  Some possibilities for you to look at:

Dragon 1 T from Lee Group:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=514758.0

From fellow member Easy2Mine, Dragon 1T for $1599:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=636027.0

From fellow member Darkfriend77, Gridseed A1 1100GH/s for $1500:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=648622.0

From fellow member BeastlyMac, Dragon 1T, Avalon 2T, and RK-box:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=646857.0

Hope this makes your decision easier.

I've been moved since day 0.   Wink

Slush, BTCGuild, and Eligius for me.  Smattering of some Multipool and some SHA alt pools.

Does delayed = nonexistent?

Exactly.  No miner yet, just renders, cad drawings.

At least there's a physical picture of the RK-box, and Minersource is set to sell them July.

RXbox is anyone's guess still, no physical proof.

You don't know whether they have a working prototype or not.

Rockminer has working HW. And they are selling it for around $1.1/gh.

If $1.1/gh is overpriced, I'd love to know what you consider a good deal.

We'll see about Rxbox, for now anything involving that particular miner is pure speculation.

Rk-box is bulky, inefficient, noisy, full of wires everywhere, heavy and doesn't come with a power supply.  Not sure if it comes with a Pi either.

We shall see about "Rocket Box" when it finally launches, if it's up to spec and worth the price.

Thanks for posting that sorehammer!  At least we know what to expect for our expensive desk ornaments.   Cool

Not only have they been long conning and using stall tactics on us, they've been mining on GHash.IO not a p2pool or test pool.  True double whammy!

Truly skeevy scummy conniving deceitful disingenuous slimy @#$#@%

Not that I am doubting you, but where is the proof of them mining at Ghash.IO?

How early did people order who have tracking or received a unit? I ordered X1 units in Nov and an X3 in Oct. Still nothing from BA.
