Everyone reading this post is an early adopter. When I got into bitcoin in 2011, people were posting, "I wish I were an early adopter." Now people call me an early adopter. In 2015, people will tell you they wish they were an early adopter, just like you.

This is so true ... 2-3 years from now, if you stay in the crypto game you will be one of the grassroots investors in alt-coins.

The barrier to entry to buy most of the coins is huge to the average individual!  For example if you want to buy Quarkcoin you have to first buy Bitcoins (not an easy thing to do) then go to an exchange and buy Quark.  Most people dont have the patience to do that, as well as the know-how.  Ask your parents you want some bitcoin for Christmas and they will have no clue where to start.

And what about the mining?  Took me 2 days to get a small rig setup to mine litecoin with all the hardware & code setup.

This is the beginning...

you make a very good point. if bitcoin were easy to buy imagine what that would do to the price. well that day is coming. okpay will be bringing bitcoin to 28000 retail shops in the uk in 2014

There may be analogous opportunities right now. I think NXT is really promising.
I agree with you.
I have ~10k of NXT

very nice! nxt is a big risk, just like bitcoin was early on, but i think its the one alt that has serious potential for being a real bitcoin competitor someday. Just cross your fingers and pray that the source code is actually published on jan 3 and that it stands up to peer review.

Just bought some bytecoins. Cheap as hell!

If you don't mind me asking. how cheap is that?

Oligarchcoin here. 80% of all coins supply still remains on 50 wallets. Undecided.

they will get shaken out as the price rises. still its sort of an unavoidable thing. its really really hard to imagine a way around this type of problem.

for people who are forging i have a question. the more answers the better. how many coins are you forging with and how many blocks are you averaging per day?

Look at http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=30, this is statistics that u need, I believe.

Thanks thats a useful link. However i still hope for some people to tell us about their experiences.

You can easily get this information from the block Explorer just click on an account and it will tell you all the time mining information ]

I could be wrong about this. But i dont think block explorer tells you how consistently someone was forging. Like whether or not they were forging non stop for a given amount of time. Im hoping to hear from someone who i know for a fact was forging non stop for a full 24 hours.

Did trade with buybitcoinscandada. Incase anyone else is considering doing a deal with him, just wanted to let you know that I sent first and he was honest. No complaints.

I really like the concept of this coin! I am jumping in to this coin forging, have some questions to help me understand, hopefully not too many Smiley

1. Is there some sort of traffic number gaging the transaction amount per day that NXT does on average?
2. How much NXT can I expect to forge if I hold say 1000 nxt in a given day?
3. Say I have 1000 NXT, Is there benefit to multiple computers (say 10) that hold 1/10 of the 1000 NXT as opposed to one computer holding all 1000 NXT?
4. What is the transaction fee for trading 1 NXT as opposed to 10000 NXT?
5. Can I just hold onto NXT for eternity and still make residual NXT over time?
6. Does the amount forged for any given holder vary with the price of NXT?

Ok so i made a formula to calculate how many blocks you would mine in a day. Just plug in the relevant values

A = The number of coins that you are using in your attempt to forge blocks
B = The average total number of coins being used by everyone to attempt to forge blocks
1440 is the number of blocks that are generated in a day.

A*1440/B

So if you had 1000 coins forging all day and 1/2 of all of the coins in existance were being used to attempt to forge blocks than the number of blocks you would forge in one day would be: 0.00288. Probably would be best to join a pool.
Thanks alot that info helps! What pool do you recommend?

I don't think there are any pools yet. This whole NXT thing is still in its infancy. Actually its worse than that. In some sense you could say it Isnt even born yet. Its basically in alpha right now. Beta starts Jan 3.

I know dgex says

Quote
BTC and NXT deposits are confirmed manually and credited to account balances
several times a day, during and outside central European business hours.
NXT and BTC Cashouts are done manually daily
however in special circumstances they can take up to 48 hours to complete.

but whats you guys experience. i have been waiting 12 hours so far. is that normal?
4279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 21, 2013, 04:51:02 AM
If i mined NXT with a 4000 khash gpu rig, how many NXT would i get across 24hours? Thx in advance. I just want to get like 1000 coins somehow. I have LTC and other minor altcoins. Just easier to mine it if possible, albeit slowly, just how slow?

thats not how nxt works. its a 100% proof of stake system. the only way to "mine" is to own coins. the more coins you own the more you mine. like each coin you own is a hash/second.
