Do you even know what LD50 means? This is the basis for understanding the lethal nature of drugs and why they are ALL dangerous.
Well, I do. I don't think you do though. LD50 measures the median lethal dose of any substance. It doesn't have to be a drug. Even water has an LD50.
As for the rest of your post, the LD50 of a given drug is only a small part of the danger of mind altering substances. A larger concern is how such substances create permanent or at least long lasting changes to the brain.
That said, I support at least the decriminalisation of illicit drugs and education about their effects. Sending a person to prison for being an addict increases costs to society and provides a temporary benefit only if the addict committed crimes to pay for their addiction.
In the long run prohibition causes no decrease in drug use, a fantastic opportunity for organised crime to profit, and large costs to the state.
LD50 gives an average dose of 50% of test subjects... I think this is right...
