I would like one of these.  The color yellow works for me.    I do not need a fancy cut out. like minersource or talon.   just a few round holes to allow air to circulate for cooling.

Crazy   the breakout board comes today.

I Will post some tests of it.  I have a question  did you get any of the printed cases for it yet.  I think mStrongbow built the cases?
42783  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ==== Eligius, please pay my 200+ BTC ==== on: June 16, 2014, 03:15:49 AM
I would say leave the courts out of this. As this issue affects all pools, all pool operators need to work together on this one to shut this mining operation out of pools or keep taxing them their mined BTC until they stump up what they stole.

Im surprised that they are not mining on Discus Fish. What happened there, did they try this already with them and got booted ( speculating here )?

Well if all the bigger reliable pools offered miners a second fork for solo mining it would have stopped this guy.

And they need to offer that option….  As it gives them an out :

if you are afraid of shit gear hurting your pools luck go to our solo fork.

Yet to hear of any major  1ph or bigger pool giving us a solo fork choice.

Just a simple shut out  to real pool ops do this before it is too late.    We will get slapped again and again.  It is clear this can be done on purpose.  even if what the op that did  this was completely innocent of any wrong doing 0 intent just an accident.

He now knows what he can do with his gear  he can fuckup someones pool on purpose.  His hash power is a weapon of bad luck.  Only a solo pool stops this type attack perfectly.      and no big pool offers the option yet.

Hey pool op  guys read the thread  tell me I am wrong .

I am not wrong no solo pool will be hurt  by the attacker.

So then tell me a solo pool is costly well then charge enough 1.5 coins out of a block of 25 coins is 6%.

run btc and nmc take 6%  if very few use the option still run it as it clears you in case this guy  does it again.

You can simply say we offered a solo pool  option to safegaurd you from a "bad luck" attack  you did not use the option .
42784  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 16, 2014, 02:22:40 AM
Thanks for the fast replies.

I bought my R-Box from Canary along with the power supply, so I assume it is adequate.

IF the cause is an unstable pool, I am wondering why that problem doesn't happen to my Antminer U2's? I should have been more specific, that there are 3 devices (R-Box and 2 U2's) but the only one that dies is the R-box.

Difference in difficulty settings on the pool side between the two types of miners most likely as I have noticed similar issues with my R-Box units onmy backup pools.

edited:grammar mistake (wrong word)

I have kept my six on btcguild   they are rock solid at 192gh total.
I have a temp psu issue and dropped but since I have used the pcie adapter cables from cablez perfect numbers.

right now I have 1 dragon miner hosted 6 r-boxes and 3 ant s-1's   all gear runs close to perfect.  biggest problem is 1.62 th is not much gear these days

42785  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 16, 2014, 12:34:21 AM
well I AM still going  wait a bit to buy it.

Also not sure if I want to go more for  scrypt.

I have 5 gridseed baldes in house they run pretty easy.

A gridseed blade  cost about as much as 1  rk-box  .

It looks like I have about 4 or 5 good choices of what to buy.  It looks like I have 4 or 5 good sellers to buy from.

Canary
 crazy
bobsag3
zoomhash
pcfli

all have good shit with decent prices. I can get some solid hash deals from any of them.
42786  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Save 50% on PSUs w/ Gigampz: Board for DPS-800GBA 850/1000 Watt Server PSU on: June 16, 2014, 12:28:13 AM
nice low cost choice for  power.

the 1300 watt evga would run 3 and save   as it does  1215 watts for 3 units at 393     cost of 195 usd

But if you run 2 units this costs under 60.

So in order to do a proper comparison

you need 6 ants  2 evga's  or 3 of these.

  2 evga's = 390 usd

3 of these = 165 usd  that is 225 difference

both will run six ant's

power on the evga = 2430

  power on these =    6 x 465 = 2790     so that is 360 in watts  x 24 = 8.5 kwatts a day at 20 cent 1.70 a day

so after    about 132 days you are tied..  and if you only have 2 ants  the time difference  is more in favor of these.

1 of these 60 bucks 1 evga = 195

    135 usd difference       power is 930 vs 810  2.9 k-watts a day at 20 cents is 58 cents a day  or 232 days

so for a small miner these are pretty good.

42787  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: It is now 51% on: June 15, 2014, 07:46:56 PM

Even if they got 51% of the hashrate they would not necessarily carry out a 51% attack, as doing so would essentially prevent them from every selling their equipment (GH/s again).

That is not the problem.  The problem is that for the bitcoin to get to $100,000 per btc, you need to have blind trust in the network.  And that includes trusting that there isn't a shred of possibility that there is someone crazy enough to do something stupid.  And we know there are a lot of crazy people.

Scenario for you: China pays GHASH $1Billion to purchase the pool for the purpose of destroying bitcoin.  $1B is nothing to China -- far less that the threat bitcoin poses.

china would need to pay more then 1 billion,  but why do it no need to .

btc will have more then enough issues as diff rises faster then efficiency and fiat price.

really ask your self why do  people buy hash power at well over  4 dollars a gh ?

last i looked ghash sells at .00762 whic his more then 4.20 usd.
42788  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $130 / 40GHS on: June 15, 2014, 07:13:40 PM
Thx for the info. Is this forum thread the closest we have to an "official" DZ communication channel? If so, what is the current status?

As everyone's aware, the pool we bought into clearly stipulated that "Once sales begin, Refunds are available up until unit ships at 1.5% restock fee. We vote on all buying, shipping, and resale decisions as well as vote on the month to attempt equipment resales after 5-7 months of operations".

Are pool funds still held by the co-op (and available to be refunded), or have they been transferred to BA even though product isn't shipping?

I believe  the remaining  funds are in the hands of BA not DzCoop.

This is most likely going to be gone.(guessing don't really know.  but BFL gave me my money back after 13.5 months)

I wish I had cashed in all my shares not just 7 of 12.

Back at  btc6000   most every deal ever made in terms of btc roi is a loss. I think all dzCoop deals were a loss in btc terms.

Most of us miners would have made more  buying coins at anytime from 2009 to oct 2013 then mining.

Not to argue btc against fiat.  or vs  versa.    most any one that purchased coins from nov 2013 to jan 2014 took a loss.

I just have second thoughts about not asking for the full refund back in feb.

42790  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free unlimited electricity... where to start? on: June 15, 2014, 06:53:55 PM
okay  free unlimited power?  your statement not mine.

How much power?   1 k-watt an hour   or 10 kwatts an hour or more.

I ask  for a simple reason  1k-watt an hour will run 1x  1000gh dragon miner.  more or less close enough.

so below is what it earns if power is about 2 usd a month  and if I give it to you for free.  (cost is about 1800-2000 usd)

it earns 2142 usd.  so don't buy any gear for your self none.

just rent your power to someone ie host.  there is some money in hosting.

I have 4 soon to be 5 gridseed blades in house.

I have a  1th miner hosted for me.

So I have a total of  about 25mh in ltc hash power

And a total of about 2th in btc hash power.

I was thinking of Holding 11 shares and selling 9 shares. total of 20 shares

So A single share = 1.25mh in ltc hash power  plus   100gh in btc

what is a fair price well lets see.

IF you buy 4 five chip gridseeds you get around 1.32 mh and spend  40 watts.

you need to supply a power supply and some cables.

If you buy 3 r-box miners you get around 96gh for btc and spend around 150 watts  you need some cables and a psu.

So if you want to do this in your home you need to spend about 360 for the gridseeds and about 220 for the r-box.

a good psu and cables = 100 you are looking at 580 plus 100 =

 680 not counting a pc or  2 raspberry pi's

so say 750  usd  and around 200 watts or 5 k watts a day  that is around 75 cents a day or 22.50 a month.

So to get started we are talking  close to 750 usd and 22.50 a month.

That is a lot of cash.

Realistically  you would loss money unless coins shoot up  a lot.

100 gh of btc makes 72 a month  if diff was to freeze and power was free.

1.25 mh of ltc makes 34 a month if diff was to freeze and power was free.

So you would bring in 106 a month power is not free it is 22.50 .

so you would need about 9 months to break even.   not counting diff rises.

So basically buying hash power on your own would make you a loser.   Without big fiat price increases.

So the question is how much can I beat that price  of 750 usd up front with 22.50 a month in fees by.

well I can charge 0 in fees for 4 months

I can charge   .814 btc     up front.

at todays rates that is  about  450 usd.

you pay me .814 btc and get 1 share with 100gh btc hash and 1.25mh hash with no hosting fees for four months.

every thing  I wrote is subject to change i am gathering interest in a small group buy for smaller miners with less to invest

Please wait to post here.

Now open for comments.

 thanks.  phil

LOOK BELOW my second account is judypug1956.

I did not want to pad my signature deal.  Feel free to ask questions and or question my math.

shots of my 2 ltc accounts they hash about  19.0 to 19.9mh

One thing I have to determine  is exact share size for the ltc and for the btc.

My gridseeds seem to run under  4.9mh at wemineltc  but variance is good.   they run over 5.1 at  cex.io but variance sucks.

So while 5x gridseeds should be 26mh  my guess is they will be 25mh maybe 24mh.

My 1th miner runs at about 1020th.

So right now I said a share of the ltc is 1.25mh  which if I honor will cost me a bit.

and a share of the btc is 100gh which if i honor would be a little in my favor.

I need to smooth out those numbers so that no one gets fucked.

42793  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whats the cheapest 1th miner selling from stock now? on: June 15, 2014, 02:33:54 PM
What is the cheapest 1th miner selling from stock now? Failing that, what is the best $/gh available now from stock now that the S1 is discontinued that isn't an expensive machine ie. Spondoolies. I was going to purchase an S1 but was a little too late and ended up buying an Avalon 290gh module as I couldn't really see anything else comparable that was selling from stock. Its about to be posted and am hoping it lives up to its hype. Your input is much appreciated. Thanks.

42794  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: June 15, 2014, 01:20:37 PM
I don't really see how a chip that can calculate SHA-256 hashes would be able to have a flaw like this.  AIUI, the ASIC doesn't know about difficulty, it just hashes difficulty 1 shares.  ASICs don't actually assemble the block, the pool does that work.  The mining software just grabs whatever hashes it finds that are above the share difficulty from the ASIC and submits them to the pool..

Someone with a better understanding of this might be able to correct me but AFAIK, it would have to either work or not work.

In the case of the April-May block withholding, the error, as I was told, was due to the software not the hardware.  The software was checking the difficulty of results the hardware returned, and was having an error when the representation of the difficulty was > uint32 for the share, causing it to be discarded even though it was still a valid result.

At the *hardware* level, I'm doubtful this is possible without being explicitly designed to do so.  ASICs are very dumb, as you pointed out.  They should only care about diff >= 1, and report the result back to the software for further checking and submission.

So you are giving the best reason yet for a major pool to run a solo fork for miners.  A  large 2000th mining op burns massive power to do 2000th ,

but if software can never make a block  happen as you say your were told that was the case in april + may.

BTW I mined 1th at that pool from APRIL 20th until today so I had bad luck for 40 plus days. Your pools could be sued by miners that were affected.  I could argue in a courtroom your pool failed to safeguard it's hash rate  from 'bad software'.

If you had offered miners the easy option to use a solo-fork our problem would be of our own choice to not use your solo fork.  Without that offer every major pool could have this happen:

Someone trashes  the luck with shit software for a month  or two causing 80 percent luck vs 96-102 percent luck.

The cat is out of the bag that  'bad' software 'bad' chip 'bad' pcb board 'bad' gear and does not matter what the reason it only matters that  a false hashrate can be done to a pool…

This is true.   So all  pool operators need to  protect miners and themselves from false hashrate happening.  (FACT not BS)

A solo fork option  is  one method of protection .

So once again I ask for the bigger pools to offer it.

This issue is not going to leave BTC.

I am  giving a method of protection that would work against a high hash rate rig that never makes a block.

Okay how about the big guy cex.io     he decides to give any large pool shit luck  shoots 300th of shit gear at the pool for a month  and the pool has terrible luck.  why not  cex.io could do this to bit minter in a heartbeat……  make 50 miners up  with 1 to 10 th each  .

they never hit a block  we abandon  bitminter  and go to cex.io     ..

Fact of the matter  this is doable   ,but  if bitminter had a solo fork  sending a stack of shit miners against that does nothing.  Zip  only person hurt is the guy sending the bad gear.

Tell me I am not correct if I am not.  Fact is I am correct.

Hey guys! I bought 20 shares in this pool last November - but due to the spectacularly missed delivery date, it looks like the difficulty level has now ratcheted up so far that if BA ever does get their shit together, these machines won't even be worth plugging in.

Just looking for honest info here.
Is this a scam I lost $2.2k to and should begin pursuing as such, or are refunds being honored?

Cheerio,

-Aubrey

Not sure if I would call it a scam, but I would say you may never collect on the 2.2k.

I am in for 5 shares 4 at 130,  1 at 110 or 630 usd.

My guess is it is a loss.  For most people a loss = a scam.  I have done enough investing to know a loss = a  loss.

A scam  involves intent I am not so sure of the intentions of this from the beginning to the current point in time.

Still it is a -630 for me as of today.

42797  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 15, 2014, 03:58:57 AM
its not about shipping cost or anything u mentioned above...

lets calculate the real cost here...
Quote
1 x RK-Box 450G = 1BTC (latest price)

assume we buy 3 RK-box (3BTC + 0.6BTC shipping)
now we need 3 RPI assume it 0.23BTC
and the last thing, we need 3 PSU assume it 0.47BTC
total : 4.3BTC
now we got 1.35 TH/s cost us around 4.3BTC
so, for this spec. 1BTC can get us 313GH/s (1350/4.3)

Quote
now we calculate the Antminer S2
1 x S2 1TH/s = 3.194 BTC (coupon)

for this S2, we dont need other accessories to run it
its all included
so, for this spec. 1BTC can get us 310GH/s (1000/3.225)

Conclusion :
RK-box - for mid player in mining, if ur wallet is not big enuf
S2 - only for big wallet

your math is not correct. for lots of us.

A) rasp pi don't need it  why I have a pc that has my mining covered cost = 0
B) psu's hmm at least 5 off line psu's  maybe 6 some are 1300 watt golds and some are 1000 watt plat's cost = 0
c) 3 rk-boxes = 3 btc   or just under 1800 usd   hash at 1350 gh

so spend 1800 usd and get 1350 hash vs spend 2200 and get 1th

many miners are mulling exactly the above and not your figures.   GRANTED SOME MAY BE DOING YOUR IDEA of the cost

but i know many are doing what I just printed.

I also like that an entire rk box dies I still have 900th of hash.

my s-2 dies I have 0 hash.

I may buy 1 rk box per week and spread my cost out slowing increasing the hash .  depends on how they run.

THEY MUST RUN AS GOOD AS AN S-1

I figure S-1's are better then 95% good closer to 97-98% .  if the rk-box is that reliable it will sell like mad.

Well I don't mind selling an amazon card and I am a hero member,
but why do you think I would give you an 18% discount.

It is not easy to get one that cheaply.

15-20% discount is the going rate around here, it seems.

I did not realize they could be had at 15% off. I would not sell at that price.  I can't buy them for better then 5% off.  But since you say they can be -15% I will most likely buy mine on this site from now on.
42800  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: June 15, 2014, 01:19:05 AM
guys it can very well be that a common miner such as the s-1 could have a flawed batch.  in theory 16ph of the entire network consists of s-1's.  1 chip run may have been for shit.

Or someone ran a batch of chips behind the back of any major chip/gear builder knocked off a ton of gear .  Lets say the dragon miners had a 'sneak batch built'

Anyone that has worked in a small factory knows what I am talking about.  Do A run of product behind the owners back.  So I am in China I knocked off a ton of bootleg dragon miners...  I set them up to solo mine  lets say back in feb.  they work ..  I feel good as I have a great score.  then they stop working lets  say at the 2.4 level mentioned.  I now have good money and 1000 dragon miners that don make blocks...  Since I am a clever weasel I decide to mine my gear at BTCguild or cex.io guild   leaching off the backs of the good gear miners most likely this has happen and is true.
Just not exactly the way I just said.   But I theorize there is a lot of dud miners that can't make a block.

Now hear this the best way to combat this is for  all major pools to offer a solo fork.     why because the scumbag weasel dude with his 1-2ph of shit gear  can never make a block solo mining ........  he has to mine on shared pools to earn money.

So once again I ask all large  pools known to pay off and not steal the blocks to do this offer a solo fork to all of us..

In fact force it on us  for a week  every 10th week  at least for that one week out of ten   the weasel won't steal from us.

Sounds radical but it only mathematically hurts a guy with 'dead for blocks- live for hash gear'   If the dark miner or the 2ph of 'bad' gear is out there this method kills it while it is used.

Obviously pool ops have the truth about how hard it is to do my suggestion but one thing is for sure a rouge miner with shit gear gets  fully burned since he has no one to leach from while this happens.

Anyone that has an understanding of game theory should see my suggestion works.  So I ask all big ops why don't you do this or a variation of this.
