4301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: November 20, 2015, 02:11:01 AM
When it comes to cloud mining, you need to check you ROI (Return On Investment) and the fees you are going to be paying.  You need to be careful, for there are a number of cloud mining scam sites out there that will take your money and run.  Some of them look legit and then fold up.  So take advise from your peers and do your research before you make any larger investments into cloud mining.  You may be better with pool mining where you own your equipment and earn through joining a pool.  Again, just my opinion.

In your research I still think one of the best indicators is a confirmed valid source saying they have X amount of hardware, or be tied into with hardware company.  Really this would prevent a lot of the scams out there.

It would not stop all sadly.   Gaw miners and Asic Miner's hashing are two examples of failures of this theory.  But 2 is still small compared to the amount of sites that have come and gone calling them self's cloud mining sites.

So more research you do the better.   And don't get all your info from one source.
4302  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Some help with an equation any pro miner out there? on: November 20, 2015, 02:02:17 AM
So basicly i will be buying 6 antminer s7 batch 8

so total has rate should be about 28+ Th/s

what are my chance on finding a block within 30 days ?

or am i better off just mining on a pool  i really like Minergate so if i mine in a pool it would probably be on that pool the   fee is 2.5% on bitcoin.

any help will be apreciated , maybe even with a donation once i get up and running.

please excuse my english its not exacly my best trait.

Smiley

You are much better off with a pool.  With electricity and miner cost most cannot solo mine at that amount of gear.   Even though it seems big for a home to have that, it's pretty small in the overall hashrate.

So go pool mining is my advice.
4303  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are the most popular miners? on: November 20, 2015, 01:59:58 AM
Folks,

I should have been more specific with my question.  I meant bitcoin mining software, like CGMiner, not hardware.  My apologies for the lack of clarity.

And by popular I mean the following: out of all the people mining bitcoins in the world, what bitcoin mining software is most used (top 5 would be great).  I understand CG Minger is pretty popular, but it seems pools have their own proprietary miners.

Cheers

Btc mining software is pretty much cgminer, and bfgminer.  That is really the two most used a lot have cgminer in background you might not even know your using it.  For example many miners have a nice GUI frontend with cgminer running behind it.

What miner are you looking at?   Really asics is what it all comes down to in BTC mining now.
4304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: November 19, 2015, 11:17:20 PM
after coming to bitcointalk site and learning about signature campaign, i feel that earning from faucet is like peanut and what i earn in a month that i can earn in a week. now i have to make my rank upgrade.

Faucets I do not recommend at any level.  Just hours for cents worth of pay which is not very good.   Signature campaigns at full member and above will beat faucets by a surprising amount.

Also with signature campaign if done right you are doing your normal posting nothing special.  So you get paid to do something you would do anyway's which is pretty great.  Used right signature campaigns are the best "free" way of earning.

That being said my favorite will always remain mining.  I just enjoy it and it's a lot of fun.
4305  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are the most popular miners? on: November 19, 2015, 11:05:21 PM
Mostly any miner from Bitmain or Spondoolies-Tech.

I like them too, since they are stable and reliable companies. The miner itself are priced competative (close to getting ROI or even getting ROI).

OP is not asking which ones we like or which ones are best current.  He asked "This is the most popular as in amount made,".  This is a huge difference in question vs most answers in this thread.

I'm not sure if we have the data to know what was most produced.   I listed a few above I think it likely is, but that is pure speculation.  They don't release numbers in most cases.
4306  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Mining Farm on: November 19, 2015, 11:02:44 PM
I am planning for raising capital to the worth of $ 3 Million (INR. 180000000).

How do you plan on raising this much capital?   Do you have an actual investor who in interested or are you just assuming you will find someone?

I just think that is a lot of capital, and yes it has a ton of opportunity.  Just curious how set in stone your backing in.
4307  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: November 19, 2015, 09:35:51 PM
While I'll admit this is speculation on my part, I'll bet that the profit margins on the S7 are way higher than the margins on the R1 router. And by margin I mean both as a percentage, and in absolute dollars/BTC (obviously).

Does anybody know what the peak was in terms of R1's that logged into Antpool to do their duty for the collective (i.e. help mining for Antminer). My recollection is that an R1 user/owner has some insight into that information.

I think you hit the nail on the head they make more selling S7's. These sold for what 30 bucks plus shipping (shipping was expensive).   That is much cheaper then I expected though.  I thought they would put at least double this.  But they made it for a fair price. They made money but even if they doubled money i'm willing to bet it's not even close to S7 profits.

It's actually not even on the front page on items being sold - https://www.bitmaintech.com/product.htm .   So either they dropped it... or they are working on new version.  I think most likely is they dropped it for the moment and focus more of S7's like you mentioned.   I hope they go back sometime to it as it was a pretty neat device.

With crazy guy's custom firmware it is a amazing unit.  I love the U3 resetting, I don't have to unplug multiple times a day which is good.

4308  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer software teardown on: November 19, 2015, 08:58:42 PM
I think for the well seasoned bitcoiner/miner, of course this isn't for them....but for the newbs, say my coworkers, gym heads, fantasy football friends i blabb bitcoin about 24/7 ....this is a great way for them to see bitcoin in action.  The whole understanding of P2P nodes, currency, and communication is pretty damn awesome and jaw dropping to see if peeps start using this.  Think about it say a few decades ago when explaining to someone how computers were all networked globally to download/share music....it took several years for people to understand the concept, and now that structure is being used today and the technology is imprinted all over the internet.

 Grin

They would be so much better off with a compac, or U3 even.   It would just be so much cheaper with a RPI2 and teach just as much if not more as they would learn to compile depending on what OS they choose on RPI.

But the price tag makes this not for new people.  I mean they could get a S3 a ton cheaper and use a S3 to mine to learn.   There are much more economical ideas for someone to learn mining.  It's hard to justify this one unless you get it just as a toy to play with.
4309  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 19, 2015, 08:19:47 PM
If you're getting confused with the different S7 specs...

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201511170341298180m44675v0613 (bottom of the page)

Going by the list, the odd numbered batches have the best bang for your buck...the even numbered ones are the runts that didn't make proper spec.

I just find the whole S7 batches confusing.  I mean they are taking orders a month ahead.... which I'm not a huge fan of but I can understand it.   I liked when they ship closer to order date.

But the entire changing hashing speed per batch is getting to a almost laughable level.  I mean when S7 starts to be sold to go to second homes (eventually on a lot of them) it's going to be a mess.   I just think resale/buying used is going to be a lot more challenging with so many different specs for the same model miner.
4310  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Nov 11 to Nov 24 Set up stage-picks are now closed! on: November 19, 2015, 07:59:59 PM
Bitwisdom is looking better:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    65,848,255,180
Estimated Next Difficulty:    70,269,710,108 (+6.71%)
Adjust time:    After 718 Blocks, About 4.7 days
Hashrate(?):    486,238,357 GH/s

But this could be do to some miners that are shipping right now.  Even if it is I like not seeing a 10 number up there.
4311  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Nov 11 to Dec 11 SIDEHACK compac stick pool club. New run. on: November 19, 2015, 07:50:56 PM
Got my RPI2 installed with software now and 7 compacs running on it.   It does have a lot more speed when multi-tasking.  But as far as mining as expected no difference a RPI VersionB worked just as good.

Now I I only could get my solder equipment out and give my hub a little extra power.
4312  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer software teardown on: November 19, 2015, 07:45:27 PM
Thanks for the taking the time to do this, I would of loved to but I couldn't justify spending $400 on a custom RasPi.

I've heard it said that the 21inc computer was likely a proof of concept sort of deal to show the Bitcoin community and investors that they have a viable business model. I think down the line we will see some pretty cool things from 21inc, but their first Bitcoin computer was not meant to be anything special, more like a trial run for more complex products coming in the future.

The thing I still don't get is they were the ones who talked about putting chips in everyday items.   That was a big part of their PR I thought was pointed twords that.

And then to go to a custom RPI... that just is not really going in existing product.  I mean even if they made  topper and just sold topper for RPI2 I see that as more putting on a everyday device.

I still think this is just so they can say they have a product and it's shipping.  So when they go to raise money they say "Yes we are shipping miners".  I don't see this as much more then proof of concept.  And the concept is not worth the 400 to me personally.
4313  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are the most popular miners? on: November 19, 2015, 07:38:32 PM
This is the most popular as in amount made, not best or most efficient. If I understand OP right.

I'm thinking it might be A1 miners as so many used their chips for quite a while.  If not possibly S3's seems like there is a ton of them.  One that could surprise me is the asic miner usb stick not sure how many of those are out there but they pumped out a ton of those for a bit.

*Reread it is possible the share of active miners.  If that I'm guessing S3 win's.  If he mean actually used as currently and not past.
4314  Economy / Digital goods / Re: ** Selling cheap Xfinity Comcast , Netflix, NFL gamepass accounts** on: November 19, 2015, 07:31:19 PM
Thanks OP on the COMCAST XFINITY LIVE TV.  I got a vouch copy to test and it does seem to work.

Do you have any vouches? Also what do you mean these are not shared? Are these cracked accounts or not?

I'm not able to tell source of account's.  It look's like it is someones account, but that is expected I think on comcast.   But it does work.    I will update in a week or two and tell if it is still going strong.  But as of now works great.

Thanks again OP.
4315  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to start or participate in a "Signature Campaign" ? on: November 19, 2015, 06:16:16 PM
I am a newbie in BTC and I read somewhere about "signature campaign".

How do I participate or search for such campaigns?

w8 for a month and then you can join you will be jr. member and then find some sig camp that accept jr. members recommendation is YoBit.net ans Secondstrade

Honestly I would wait for longer possibly full member as that is biggest jump.  I always suggest to use the lower ranks to learn, and see how to make a helpful post.  A lot of new people that jump straight into signature campaigns seem to worry about post count... your goal should be content not post count.  If bad posts, or one liners it will get a temp ban.

Just look in meta - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1241968.0 .  This is a thread showing what some of the lower ranked posters are like that are bad, yobit is kinda the target as far as users in this thread.
4316  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Plug and Play Bitcoin Miner for Workplace / Office ? on: November 19, 2015, 06:10:20 PM
Anyone recommend something I can run at my desktop at work?  I remember this a few years ago:

http://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/10-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

But, anything more up to date that I can just have it run 24/7 at my office/desk and just get into mining btc?

Thanks all!!

The portable ones that hook up to computer are current are U3 and sidehacks compacs.  The compac is easier to use as it does not zombie out like U3's.  But U3's are cheaper but can be a pain.

The thing is this class of miners you really don't get your money back.  It's a "lotto" miner for most meaning you mine solo hoping to hit a block one day (likely it will not happen).  But you really have to look into bigger miners as far as getting a ROI.  Others are more for fun.
4317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 19, 2015, 06:06:39 PM
Anyone out there doing remote monitoring or access to your S7s ?

I tried the Minerlink thing at Bitmain, but doesn't seem to work.

Any good way to do the monitoring / access from outside?

Someone recommended "teamviewer" but i prefer a freeware solution?

I would like to monitor hashrates, temp, etc and ability to reboot the S7s.

Teamviewer is free for personal use

It is it is quite fair they give a pop-up when you log off on computer saying like ... this is personal use if business use purchase key here... So it is not bad one box to use what really is a quite good remote desktop.

The good thing about it is it's tied to username not IP.  So if for some reason you lost power and IP changed you can still log back into it through username.  Also it has Iphone and Android apps so you can connect from your smartphone.
4318  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: November 19, 2015, 06:03:39 PM
as soon as you plug it in its setup to go online with bitmains id. so im pretty sure that number is pretty valid as the total..

Unless you buy the R1 from someone like CrazyGuy who has already modified the firmware for you.  That's what I plan to do, my R1 will never be seen by Bitmain on their pool so it's possible there are many more out there than reported.

CrazyGuy does have it where you could use antpool if you want to see some stat's to play with on antpool site on that antrouter tab.   But you are right if you stick with ck solo it would never touch on his sales with custom firmware.  I am very happy with my purchase from him.

I really am surprised bitmain did not do a batch 2 yet.  Guess we will see I'm happy if it turns into more collector item with only around 200 out there... but I would think they would want to sell more though.
4319  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners should Start a Union on: November 19, 2015, 05:19:46 PM
Well, there are special snowflakes around who won't abide by this. (Or they are just not aware of the union) Making the whole thing meaningless or but an irritation.
Not to mention that this could absolutely backfire and explode in everyone's faces if people just refuse to buy, exercise or even use cryptocurrency, including that the whole cryptocurrency scene has a generally "shady" image in modern day media. This needs more thought to it, not many of us are economists, so as a community we don't have a real estimate on what this can do.

It IS a good topic to think about though.

I still don't get how this is possible.  Can someone explain if I'm missing something?

The flaws I see is we cannot do like oil and control majority... and set price.   So really no way to control majority you would have to own so much that the other miners were small and would not hurt your set price.... but price fixing is not really going to ever happen on it.

Ok now back to who are you making a union to bargain with?  Whole point of a union is bargaining power.... when a free market set's BTC value and not one person.  I just don't see how you will bargain to get what you want.

Am I missing something?
4320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: November 19, 2015, 04:50:18 PM
Another 90 page FTC filling.

Ah ha, here we go, buried on page 63. In 2014 the company had $38k of revenue, $31k of gross profit and posted a net loss of $14.7m. And yet the management paid themselves $8.9m.

I have to say that it does look bad. I especially "liked' the fact that they paid CTO some 4.5 mil. For f-ing what?

Wait, you mean to say that CTO's aren't meant to earn 12,000% of their company's revenue?

Thanks for posting that is insane.  I love the FTC filling as it has so much info we would not know otherwise.  I might take a look at whole thing for fun later.  Very interesting to see such big numbers.

I hope even more interesting info comes out.  Going from private company to open books is interesting in any business, in one that most companies are secret really neat to see one of the big players info.
