coins dropped today to 567 usd .

that makes the s-1 look better and the s-2 look worse.

If I buy today my fiat cost is 209 an s-1.

I have 2 coupons left  I may order my last two s-1's today.
43082  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL Monarch - Delivery Dates on: May 28, 2014, 12:10:15 PM
Yeah I have to agree putting peoples names in  context as a pedophile is nasty shit.

I for one will tell you   BFL  took 13 + months to refund my 530 usd.  They have not been a good company.

I will also say BFL is not the only shitty company.

Black Arrow  has been pretty bad of  late.
Hashfast never delivered  .
Avalon and KNC  pulled some nasty shit.

You forgot 1 or 2 others nasty messes - Bitmine.ch and their US affiliate AMT with their A1 chip debacle Sad Don't know if BM.ch has delivered anything but AMT sure has not aside from a few battered & DOA rigs and 2 'kits' that sorta worked for a while.

No refunds in sight or offered and lawsuits in progress. Sound familiar?

not to mention the bips hacked 1200 coins at 1000 usd each plus the trade fortress   4000 coin hack.

yeah it is is a very difficult place to do business.  on the miner end or the trader end
43083  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Undervolt antminer s1 [1.19W/GH at the wall] on: May 28, 2014, 03:47:42 AM
Is there any way to have the fans always at 100%? I want to reduce the heat as much as possible. Summer here in FL gets pretty hot, and the temp in my miner room is 98F right now, and its only going to get hotter.

I've got 16 AntMiner S1's, 2 Dragon 1T miners, and 1 KNC Saturn with 3 boards.

If I can get the Ants to drop some massive temp, I could add 1 or 2 S2's. I'm out of power & have excessive heat.

you need to add really good pull fans. I posted some shots of them and where I got them on ebay.

add these and vent the heat out of the room

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276722479?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

he sold me 14 at 107  I will find the hook up photos

I used 4 pipe cleaners to attached the fan on the pull side.

see the fan pipe cleaners and nylon nuts for spacing

Weren't you just saying how accurate your feedback was? I bolded it so you can read it properly. Even if he did do it then (I was around then, and never even saw them do that...) You can't provide any proof. It wasn't genuine. You still won't back it up. And if that negative feedback was about your post being removed, I dunno, post about it in Service Discussions? And again, he never paid anybody for 6,500 posts.

i posted the link to the thread as proof but since then the OP has been edited a bunch of times i never screen sniped it as i never felt the need to i will ask theymos if he is willing to look at the edits

How about this:

If he's not doing it now, how will your feedback affect him?

Can'ty you guys just talk it out?

i have no issue with talking to them but all i get is remove your negative feedback or see you in court from them

Dude tell him you are wrong and pull the feedback....   He specifically said no spam allowed he always said that.  that is why I see you as wrong.   Now I can see why your interpretation is  posted  as your feeling is 6500 posts comes to 217 posts a day.  Which must be spam.   You will lose on that interpretation here is why I think you will lose.  I am retired and I have the time to post 40 posts a day.

I choose to not post on this site all the time and I am on other sites. I could post 40 good posts a day if I only post here and spend my time doing other things like going to the mall with my wife. Watching a movie with my wife.  cooking diner as I like to cook.   going to the Jersey shore etc.

If my wife was dead (she almost died in the World Trade center)   I would have a lot more time and I might choose to spend it writing 6 to 8 hours a day on this site.   My posts would all make sense and add to the conversations.  I would also start threads on builds of gear/ tweaking gear  etc.    So posting 6500 posts which was his max number appears to invite trouble but it is in no way a guarantee of spamming   especially when he stated he won't pay for spam  from the get-go.   I normally don't stick up for one guy over another but  you are wrong.  You also could be subject to nuisance lawsuits.

From anyone that was making 300 or 400 posts a month  i.e. earning decent money on this campaign.  If the 10 or more that earned .5 coins a month went after you claiming your attack on ritz  caused ritz to end the campaign you could get sued by them.
Ritz did say he was ending the program for reasons other then that  so in a way he is still being nice to you.  If his post had said he ended the campaign due to your attack  you could have been looking at a lot of angry people.    He did not do that to you so as much as you may be annoyed and think your are fight the good fight   I would say think about it. Look at me an aging guy trying to help his retirement out .  I am due 360 posts  I would never say it is your fault if ritz decides to not pay me and the rest of us.   But I am a  rational guy level headed yada yada yada how many people on this site due 1 coin or .6 coins are nutty?
43085  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Two Antminer S1 on One PSU on: May 28, 2014, 02:15:42 AM
you are wasting 60 watts to run that machine.
I dont get it, which machine are you referring to? I didn't see him running any extra machine other then the KWH tester..

In that wooden enclosure is my Antminer S1 Dual Blade overclocked to 393.
He's saying that the two power supplies I'm using, with the draw shown on the KWH tester, is drawing about 60 Watts more than a more efficient power supply.

yeah my choices of words could have been more clear…    thank you for making it easier to read.

and got a reply  it appears that yahoo fucked it up not you fault sorry.

well my second blade came and it hashes well  5.3 -5.5 mhs so far.

hopefully the replacement blade comes soon and I can send back the slow blade.  maybe by thur.

mike thanks for watching your thread and fixing this.

43087  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 28MHs at 300w for Scrypt ! Zoomhash Scrypt Hosting Announcement $135 per MHs! on: May 28, 2014, 01:17:41 AM

Not sure where to ask but I have 32000 loyalty points.  Iwanted to look for a coupon but I can't seem to see what 32000 points are worth.  The website said send an email to info@zoomhash.

I sent in an email no reply yet.  does anyone know what I need to do to cash the points in?

Sorry, we are moving to a new shopping cart system end of this month to mid June. We will upgrade our point system to be more exciting and worth while.

Thanks!

I missed this response.

My blade came last night seems to be running nicely .   I am getting close to 5mh on it.

So I will wait on the points. until June.

right now I am going to sit on any orders of the newer gear until I see how other like them.

for the most part I like gridseeds gear wise. Pricing meh.  But this blade was a good deal

So the blade ran at 5000khs for a day   around 2500khs each half.  then 1 part dropped to 1500khs and I can not get it to recover.

So my ' bargain '  is no longer a bargain .

 I posted a thread here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624880

I got a pm from  zoomhash_michael [/s]

he told me send in a support ticket and I would get a cross shipped .  replacement blade and some ltc and or compensation to make up for lost hash.

I did this I got a reply from  Richard  via the support@zoomhash.com email  asking if I tried running cpuminer..

  I want to say (!%@$!%$#!%$)

I have been promised a cross shipped blade   not  a question.  Did I try cpuminer?  I only use cpuminer   which is how I answered the email.

Well I answered the email politely and now I wait.

While I must say I am annoyed that I am under hashing at 4000khs vs 5000khs .  I am now more annoyed that no unit has been crossed shipped.

To make matters worse I was happy that I got a good deal and ordered a second one to be nice.

So I am :
A) waiting on the cross ship
B) waiting on tracking  for my second unit---- I was told it shipped days ago and still not tracking. [/s]

  I just got tracking

So my bargain deals do not look that good.

My only solace is both orders are paypal  and If I have to I will file two claims for these. One for not as promised one for no delivery.

I got the blades to replace the shitload of gridseeds I had .  you can see I had a lot.

My current hashing on the slow blade is here:

So, here's a deal. If you can prove that anyone, just one will do, is actually paid by BFL to shill for them here, than I will prove that you, <SEO shit deleted>, are a pedophile with a Montessori school in Djakarta.
Fair deal?

This is in very poor taste and completely out of line on these forums.

You are just parroting libel that Butterfly Labs has concocted to discredit those who bring attention to their deplorable business practices.

 For shame.

the only restriction is I have to stay under 800 watts. I have to make them run quietly.   they do run pretty quiet .  I think I will order 2 more s-1's today or tomorrow

One of my S1s came with a broken fan, I replaced it with a push/pull pair of Corsair AF120 performance edition fans (30db) and I must say that that miner runs at the best hash rate 205.6 and the lowest temp - by 3-4 degress, and is by far the quietest - over the others. £25 for the pair. Bitmain promised to ship a replacement fan with my next order.

thanks.  If I see them on sale here I will grab some.

I have found that on my over clocking the gear has been pretty loud.

but on my under clocking  I have a corsair vortex and I have the stock fan.  the stock fan runs under 1500 rpm and it is quiet .

but testing new fans is cool with me.

I dont really get the underclocking stuff if I'm honest Phil, I need to max the income from these things before they become useless... Happy to be enlightened however...

Okay  underclocking works in my case  because i can run 4 ants at 140gh = 560gh   and pull 760watts.

they are quiet.   they run in an office space..

I have 2 limits

1)  800 watts  is the max I am allowed to use.

2) they must be quiet

So running 4 units at that office gets me 1) 760 watts 2) quiet

power costs 4 cents a k-watt.  If I ran 2 units at 393 freq   I would get 400gh and 800 watts and really loud.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my house I run at 393 freq  200gh  hot and loud

Most people will not need to undervolt or underclock  until diff reaches 20-25    diff is at 10.5.

I think you two can just be honest about it and say that you want to join one of the other campaigns as soon as possible. After all, anyone who looks at your recent posts will know that already. Grin
Ok I'll be honest Yeah I want to join other Campaign if this one is ending ..! no on asked you to pass a judgement on my posts they are somehow better than yours..! and if you go through once again ..! Ok forget it I don't want to indulge in any kind of argument further on this thread and would like to keep it clean Thanks # Peace .

I didn't mean to say that your posts were in any way bad, nor did I try to compare them to mine; I just meant to say that anyone could easily tell of your intentions to join another campaign by looking at them, so there was no need to beat around the bush, so to speak. After all, everyone else signed in this campaign is probably thinking the same thing already.  Wink

Well one thing there is a fear factor for people that made the effort to post good posts.  Did not go nuts and post  1000 posts.

Hey I have close to 400 posts this month at hero rates it is around .52 btc   I would like to get it.  But frankly the signature campaign needs to be tiered :

member rate
 0-25 =      0.0
25-50 =     0.01
50 -100 =  0.02
100 or more = .025

hero rates higher

now I always have posted 200 -300 posts a month sometimes more.  I have been around  for 2 years but I got active last  year.

from august 2012 to may 2013 I made 200 posts.

from may 2013 to may 2014 I made 3000 posts.   I rounded but close to exact

So does anyone have some information to share about underclocking?

I had a scary moment today when my main circuit breaker tripped. I'm running a large number of miners including 3 S1's. I underclocked everything I could to prevent it from happening again.

I changed my S1's from 375 to 325. I dropped from 190GHs to 166GHs which is fine by me. This isn't about the extra pennies I'm losing by not overclocking. This is about power efficiency and waste heat generation.

Does anyone have stats comparing watt usage for 375 to 325? Is there even more significant efficiency to gain by going lower?

I run mine underclocked (for efficiency due to electricity costs). I get 150GH/S per ~200w @ 300, rather than 180GH/S for 380w. I essentially went through the same process described in the link pvnamk19 posted above.

So you had to do the pencil mod to get to 200w? I'm not really interested in going to those lengths to undervolt. I'm only wanting to underclock. Sorry, I didn't read the entire thread so maybe my scenario was addressed there.

no pencil mod means 2 watts per hash.  so a 350 clock gets about  180 gh and around 360 watts with a plat psu

a 300 clock gets about 150 gh and around 300 watts

a 275 clock gets about 140 gh and around  280 watts

 but read below:

please get a fucking pencil  lightly  stroke each of the 8 resistors  2 times  do not measure the ohms takes 2 minutes.

set the clock at 300  and see what the results are. about 150 gh and 200 watts is pretty much what happened for me,  it is easy to do this.
below one at stock volts and 393 freq gets me 200gh and 406 watts

and one at undervolts   275 freq gets me 140gh and 201 watts

I am thinking about undervolting, got myself the HB pencil, but the resistor that you supposed to touch is so tiny and there is another object nearby (C10). How you were even able to do it reliably? magnifying glass workstation? i think that you supposed to use the multimeter (ohm meter) as well.

I have 3 running on an evga 1300 supernova  psu  about 420 gh pulling 563 watts  at the k-a-watt plug  that is 1.34 watts a hash.

I can't tell you how easy it is. I have had cataract eye surgery in each eye and I can do it in 5 minutes

I used a number 6 pencil   on one mod and a number 2 pencil on the second mod.

I deliberatively   was sloppy on getting perfect ohm measurements after the mods.

I have an hi-end  meter all resistors read  4.46 or 4.47 k ohm before the mods.

I allowed the resistors to range between 2.4 k ohm and 3.3 k ohm  after the mod .

The key is your ssh.    you may want :

250  freq
275  freq
300  freq

if you fucked the resistors up a lot you get x's on your asic's  just go to a lower freq.

I stroked the resistors in 1 direction away from the one next to it and towards the empty space. I used  a magnify glass on a stand

Thank you very much for the instruction and link. I'll give it a shot-it's getting close to "real" summer season here and i want to reduce power use.
I am getting addicted to S1 ants  Smiley. Basically holding myself not to order a couple more.

yeah right now.  I have one on the way.  and I can order 2 more.

my friends office space will end up with 4 units he has 3 now   doing the  420th and the 563 watts.  he shares his building space with four people  and they spilt the power bill 4 ways.
For years he got the short end of the stick as he used very little power.  the four units will do around 750 watts and 560 gh.  but he will pay ¼ of the bill  so these 4 units are like getting 190 watts to run 560 gh.

we should still be making money on these in NOV.

the only restriction is I have to stay under 800 watts. I have to make them run quietly.   they do run pretty quiet .  I think I will order 2 more s-1's today or tomorrow

a 300 clock gets about 150 gh and around 300 watts

a 275 clock gets about 140 gh and around  280 watts

 but read below:

please get a fucking pencil  lightly  stroke each of the 8 resistors  2 times  do not measure the ohms takes 2 minutes.

set the clock at 300  and see what the results are. about 150 gh and 200 watts is pretty much what happened for me,  it is easy to do this.
below one at stock volts and 393 freq gets me 200gh and 406 watts

and one at undervolts   275 freq gets me 140gh and 201 watts

43097  Economy / Economics / Re: IRS says mining is "income" (40% tax) instead of cap. gains (20% tax) on: May 27, 2014, 02:59:27 AM
The $8,000 isn't income.  You don't owe taxes on gross revenue, you owe taxes on income.  In the example the miner has no income, he has a loss and thus no taxes are owed, not only are no taxes owed if the miner has other non mining income his loss from mining would offset that income.

Even if the miner did have $8,000 in income (income = revenue - expenses) it wouldn't be $3,200 in taxes.

Assumming he had no other income and was single it would be:

$8,000 - $6,100 (standard deduction) = $1,900 * 10% = $190 in taxes.

How about people who don't understand the absolute basics of taxes, leave the taxes to their accountant or tax professional before they freak out?

the thread should be deleted and the op be posted as a troll and or banned.

I can't begin to explain  how fucked up the op's first post is.

As a son of a retired IRS employee  as the husband of a retired IRS emplyee and as a former IRS employee myself I know a little bit more then most on this subject.

The op is close to the category of  ($%!#$@%)

I am so tired of reading about anti IRS propaganda  on this website.  Or as you say statements of total and complete  lack of knowledge on the subject.

i was unaware there was a timeframe set to the upgrade, it seemed as though it was imminent.

though with the the pathetic price rises it may just be irrelevant by the time its 'deployed'

and thats not taking into account that it may be a BS marketing strategy - buy my overpriced S2's yo, theyre gunna be upgradable...honest

i hope my cynicism is unfounded!

A lot will depend on the asicminer gear  800gh for 1170 and hosting for 120 usd a month  was tossed out as possible .

no shipping no rasp pi    .  this is a good deal if you are like me approaching the summer.

here is another offer that comes close

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576844.msg6959648#msg6959648

this would be  2300 up front with 90 days hosting fully paid. starts mining in a day.

So your power cost including delivery is around 10ct? is that correct?

also, cooling typically adds around 30% more power consumption when running at full load, so it isn´t that much more power cost.

It is a necessity in most parts of the US anyway.

From my experience, antminers aren´t that sensitive to a higher intake temperature of say 30°C.

they can run fine in a room at 85f  which is  30 c

but he is in texas  which means 100 f or  38 c
