4321  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to solve world hunger ? on: November 03, 2017, 02:41:03 PM
Unfortunately, it is impossible to solve world hunger especially on the undeveloped countries. The government have many projects, but it is still not enough to completely solve world hunger. If there are still corrupt people in our government it is impossible to everyone to solve this world hunger. Sad Cry
Governments "send food" for free, which is bad, and I'm sure they know this. If they really wanted to help they would help countries develop to become self sufficient and create their own food rather than having to rely on give aways.

All it takes is some investments and effort and hunger would disappear very quickly while even making massive profits for investors. But that's not as easy screwing people over so they don't do it and pretend to be "helping" by sending some free food every now and then.

Kind of agree, when it comes to money and profit there's no incentive to really help these countries as most of them rely heavily on slave labour but often these countries are rich in natural resources; gold, silver, oil, platinum, other precious metals etc. It often takes heavy lobbying on a charity's behalf to get companies to switch (and those companies pretend as if they didn't know). Even a lot of charities don't actually work for the benefit of a country but more for the benefit of their salary or promoting certain political and ideological agenda's.
Yes that's unfortunately very true and another reason as to why I don't believe in charity. There are very few cases where it's genuinely positive and in those situations it's very hard to make sure that your money isn't going to some fraud.
4322  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin regaining dominance. on: November 03, 2017, 02:39:38 PM
Bitcoin is regaining dominance, yes. It always does if you look back in time. Bitcoin is a deflationary currency which means that the supply that is being distributed every 10 minutes via the blockchain where miners receive a reward, that is halved every four years and it started of with 50BTC in 2009. Now it is 7.25 for a block reward, but the miners that hash also get fees from transactions as well.

So far Bitcoin is inflationary

Though you could in fact claim that many coins get lost everyday and thus the real number of bitcoins available for trading or other uses is gradually diminishing. But ultimately this is irrelevant. What matters is real adoption, and if there is none, no amount of scarcity (if i can say so) will help Bitcoin. It is not enough to be scarce, Bitcoin (or anything else, for that matter) should also be useful for some real purpose. Speculation gives Bitcoin which some would call value, speculative value, but how long will it last on speculation alone?
Is it in any way possible to estimate how many coins have been lost accurately?

No, I don't think so

All your estimates would be rather vague and prone to huge errors. For example, would you consider 1M bitcoins which Satoshi has as lost? We don't even know who is Satoshi, let alone if he is still alive or whether he is a human being at all ("he" might be a group of developers and cryptography experts or even a whole agency like the NSA). On the other hand, you can still estimate pretty close to real numbers the amount of coins which can be said as lost for good. I refer to dust in wallets which is no longer collectible, i.e. which you can't withdraw since the fees are too high. I guess this number can be assessed pretty accurately and reliably via analyzing the Bitcoin blockchain (and someone might have already done this)
I was aware of people losing their private keys left and right but I never really considered dusty wallets. If we actually end up reaching 200 Million users as projected by some institutes, the dust could easily add up to anywhere from a few hundred to a few hundred thousand Bitcoins lost if my estimates aren't too far off.
Wonder what the real number for both cases (lost keys and dust) are. If a large amount of coins was lost that could significantly lower the real market cap and thus help with reaching some of the astronomical predictions made.

So many factors are driving the prices, I wonder if anyone with serious computing power and expertise actually modelled the crypto market already.
4323  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next 5 year for Bitcoin on: November 03, 2017, 02:28:58 PM
Hey, to each his own! We've all got our own predictions. I feel extremely confident in bitcoin being over $100k in five years. I'd surprised if it isn't 6 digits in five years.
Would you bet all of your money on that though?

haha since when are we betting all our money on the price?
I wouldn't bet all my money on any specific price prediction on bitcoin or anything else in the world.

But I will say I feel 90% sure the price will be over $100k in 5 years (personally I think it will probably happen in 4 years around the end of 2021). And I do plan to hold most of my bitcoin until the price is $100k, at which point I'll slowly start selling in order to diversify my portfolio, and I expect to start doing this in less than 5 years.
Interesting approach, I've gone the opposite way. Went with altcoins until I cracked $1000k then started diversifying into safer assets like Bitcoin and stocks. Probably add some real estate as well.

cool good job. I messed around with altcoins a bit, but always eventually ended up losing bitcoin from that. So now I'm just taking my losses and sticking with the sure thing. Figure I can hit a million dollars in the next few years with the bitcoins I have now.
Did you trade or did you hold though? I don't trade because it takes too much time, messes with tax reports, and is very risky. With long-term investing I've been doing quite well though, even if it took quite a bit of effort and research to stay safe.

I have feeling that the entire WAVES Platform is a total scam that steals people's money. It's only my opinion, and you all can prove me wrong.
I've had absolutely no issues with withdrawing profits from the Waves platform. Not sure where the scam is. Please enlighten me?
4326  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If we can educate our kids at home why do we need to send them at school? on: November 03, 2017, 02:22:06 PM
Avoiding the children of sending them to school is the miss opportunity for them to explore and discover the things which are not available in the house. Maybe there are parents that can provide a personal teacher for their children, but the experience that only the school can provide which can possibly leads them to realize the meaning of life is what the parents voluntarily ignored.
The only opportunity schools provide is the opportunity to lose your curiosity and drive to explore. People who went to school usually don't care about exploring anymore and just want everything "now" and "fast", because the exploration process is not relevant in school.

Don't need a private teacher either, especially not with the internet.

What was your plan then? Let the Internet teach your kids? (I'm sorry but I really don't get what kind of home school you are thinking.)
I just realized that the long post I've written never showed up on here. So here's a short version.

Just provide an environment where they can do a lot of different things and let them freely move with their interests. Kids are naturally curious and playful and will try anything and everything that comes their way. Only when they get into school they start forming bullshit opinions about what they can or can't do and start associating anything that takes effort as "bad" or unenjoyable. Never tell them directly what to think and just help them think of questions to ask and answer instead. If they get stuck help them find a new approach to a problem that they haven't though of before, but don't tell them any solutions. If they approach life from this perspective they will never have any real problems, since it'll just be challenges to solve rather than problems to avoid (like in school).

Just look at a young child, that keeps spamming "why why why", and then compare them with a child that has entered school. It's pretty obvious that school ruins children's curiosity, creativity and drive for exploration. And then they replace that with social media and other bullshit and get depressed because they never fulfill their potentials and are too scared to follow their passions. School is for creating robots that run programs, which is exactly what school was created for when factories first appeared during the industrial revolution. Thus schools are no longer appropriate for children of today.

the dog will never die, he is here since 2014, but 1 dollar for each doge would be an huge market cap..maybe when btc hits 500k it could happen but not during this december
Doges only live around 10 years though, don't they?
You are thinking in human years, not DOGE years =)
Well I am a human. Wink

Yes client need to pay 3% as transaction fee here.
You keep failing to answer simple questions. How can you answer a simple "A or B" question without picking an option?

Is the whole team like this?

Hello,
I cancelled waves leasing, sold 30 waves on DEX and tried to send BTC to the Cryptopia exchange. It says "wrong address". I doubt that cryptopia gave me the wrong address.
Is it because I did not wait 1000 blocks (if I remember right) for leasing to be fully cancelled (or smth like that)? But I managed to sell waves on DEX.
Can somebody explain that? Thank you!

EDIT: Solved. I just used "Withdraw" instead of "Send". But what the purpose of "Send"?
You can "Send" coins to other Waves wallets.
without paying the fee??
I think you might not have to pay the Bitcoin transaction fee, but you'll still pay the 0.001 Waves fee. That's a very interesting question actually that I don't know the definite answer to. This could potentially make Waves the cheapest and quickest way to move coins around.
wait a minute, is this what your saying :
send btc via waveswallet and you pay 0.001waves??

From Waves wallet to Waves wallet it seems so yes. I'm not sure how they handle BTC transfers internally though.
4330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [MCO] MONACO #1 Cryptocurrency Payments Card on: November 03, 2017, 02:10:04 PM
In my country they talk about Monaco and I am very curious to know the outcome of the project because if it is recognized on all VISA cards then this altcoin will definitely be a great investment for all investors.

I think so, because it mean that you can using monaco card anywhere to spent all your cryptocurrency with easily. Also monaco card will always be treated as a local currency card and you will get perfect interbank exchange rates, wherever you are.
You can only spend your crypto easily if you don't evade taxes. If you don't report your trades to your government you'll pay heavy fines or go straight to jail. I don't think most people are aware of this.

4332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRATIS or WAVES or ARK? on: November 03, 2017, 01:42:02 PM
You should buy stratis. I read they will have mastetnodes feature and that will make atratis price up. When many masternodes up its mean many coin will be held and the coin in circullation will be small ammount only.
Btw anyone here knows stratis masternodes earn bitcoins instead of stratis ?  Cheesy
Is this true or are you asking if it is?
STrat masternodes earn bitcoins yes , but too bad you need over 700.000$ for 1 masternode with current price  Cheesy
$700,000 for 1 master node, they it will be only whales and Stratis team that will be holding masternodes. The reason why I'm skeptical about Stratis is the hype, most hyped projects underperformed though this has done exceeding well for ICO investors
Is there any intention of lowering the amount required?
4333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin rise to $500k in three years? on: November 03, 2017, 01:41:24 PM
In my opinion, if we follow the trend of exponential growth in the market of bitcoin's price, $500,000 is not impossible to reach in the next three years. Bitcoin is gaining popularity all over the world in every single day whether it is bad news or good news. We all have to accumulate as much bitcoin as we can right now and focus on the achievement of our goal for long term profit and hope for the best to come.
Stop raising this to a meaningless point….the rate of $6000 took several years to accomplish, 8 years precisely. How can.you be saying that a whole $500,000 per Bitcoin can be accomplished within three years, that’s kind of madness.

Then you’re trying to say each person will $500,000 worth of Bitcoin each, bet me, just one person that will sell off will send the whole market crashing if it was to put at such rate with its current
If Bitcoin was $500k the market cap would be in the trillions. So selling a bunch of Bitcoins would have no significant impact, because the market volatility would be far lower than it is now. At that point Bitcoin would be adequate as an actual currency too, assuming the transaction times and fees are still good enough for dealing with it.

And since you don't seem to be aware of this, groundbreaking technologies usually take a long time to reach public awareness and once they do they keep exploding until mass adoption is achieved.

snip

I am waiting for more information
Asset contract no longer exists. And there is no replacement for it that is relevant to investors.

Is that means that the reward system for token holder wont happen?

That's exactly what it means. And Kris released a video in which he said that "it doesn't matter anyways Mathematically" - which is completely untrue. He's either not competent of doing basic Math or he's lying to his investors about this issue. He then proceeds with a bunch of buzzwords and promises just like a shady insurance salesman would.

I would stay away from MCO if this doesn't get seriously addressed in a way that doesn't insult the intelligence of investors soon, since there are quite a few serious and honest projects that don't behave in shady ways like this.

So wait, what is the use case of MCO token then? lol

Do you have a link to the video?
Its quite disappointing there is no need for the token anymore.
It's on their Youtube page and has "asset contract" in the title.

Glad someone actually pays attention to what is happening, quite refreshing when you look at the pages filled with shills who don't care about anything other than token price and manipulation.

FreeBitcoins.com is still paying $14.16 USD in Bitcoin for every Dogecoin address that was in use on May 12, 2014.

The dogecoin address should not contain dogecoins any more. (AKA only sell empty addresses)

waves is gaining traction like crazy, why this now?
Where is Waves gaining traction like crazy? The price has been moving sideways for months.

i mean, it jumped from 2.7 to 4.16 in bitter today
but i know what you mean, i've been baghodling this for some time now and tried to sell at a nice price but the movement was so quick that i couldn't even send my coins to the exchange in time

now it's 3.35  Huh
Why not lease your coins and wait for the new platform?

i read about leasing but from what i understood i need a recipient and i do not know one
could you explain to me how it works?
You can find leasing nodes on Google or the Waves Reddit.

My favourites so far are:

3PPRLpTAn9ku11YpPh1YfZcojCgopeet6er
3PFrn8EHRhjJGEQxYwWKdJcwcsW1XFRJbmz
3P2HNUd5VUPLMQkJmctTPEeeHumiPN2GkTb

One of those is called Fountain Perpetua, one is the WCT or WavesGo one (forgot which), and one more has a nice balance sheet that you can check at any time. I tried a few different ones and eventually sized down to just these three after testing.

What happens with leasing is, you pick a leasing node (master node) and then lease your Waves to them. You can choose any amount.

The Waves get locked up for the duration of the lease which you can cancel at any time.

Nobody has access to your Waves during the leasing so it's impossible to lose them that way.

Depending on the amount you've leased and the fee structure of the leasing node you'll get different rewards.

that's really cool, thank you for your answer and explanation
unfortunately, even though waves is a big chunk of my portfolio, i am still a small pond fish in this game so i do not have 10000 waves for the lease

You can lease small amounts of Waves, even just 1 if you want to. 10000 Waves are needed if you want to be the person that other people can lease to, which would allow you to gain some extra through a small fee.
4338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: SSD update worth it? on: November 03, 2017, 01:32:13 AM
You should upgrade SSD asap because it is very good. SSD speed is 10 times faster than your 7200 rpm HDD. With SSDs, the PC boot time will be greatly reduced, suitable for gaming and running full nodes. You should buy the Samsung EVO SSD  Cool
M.2s are even up to 100 times faster than HDDs and not that much more expensive anymore.
