4321  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New cooling setup for my asic room. on: June 05, 2023, 12:42:20 AM
@mikeywith

yeah in New Jersey ,USA.

we have 40 hot days a year.

and only 3-10 over 40c

The room we have has 2 x 400 amp 220 and 1 x 800 amp at 440

So 88kw + 88kw + 352kwatt is available.

to cool it with ac I would guess we need 6 movinair office pro 60000 btu units

burning 30000 extra watts.

Frankly we can’t fit them.

Plus routing 6 long tubes of heat exhaust from the ac to the big exhaust fan would be really hard.

Our power cost is really cheap.

and we could use 300 kwatts of the available power  of 525kwatts.

It is a space size issue that restricts us. also getting air in and out is very hard as the long walls are filled with power panels.

This room now works great up to 85f and at 95f it is too warm.

So far this year three hot days in the mid nineties..

So there will be 40 days coming up that I will just shut the 6 whatsminers off.

time to do that is under 1 minute.

All those tubes cost under 400.
Fans under 400
Two 36k btu  acs were 1700

So we spent 2500 to 3000 on cooling this year.

The power cost is not an issue. But I would guess 12000 watts are spent to cool maybe 150,000 watts.
4322  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Canaan + silent fans? on: June 04, 2023, 05:15:00 PM
I looked around a bit and found these fans which may be a better choice.

https://www.amazon.com/4-72inch-Brushless-Computer-Ventilation-3000-5000RPM/dp/B09BVHPXLW/ref=sr_1_9?

they do 175 cfm

vs the 101 yours do.

the canann do over 200cfm and are around 2.6 or 2.7 amps.

not certain if they will do the job.

you could try them and let us know
4323  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Miner IP Scanner on: June 04, 2023, 04:46:07 PM
whatsminer has nice tools.

it covers m20 and up.

it is free.

very hard to say use anything but it.

If you have whatsminers.

Also a lot depends on how many pieces of gear you have.

Under 10 units You don’t earn a lot.

If you have 10 s19xps it is only about 100 a day.

You can check 2 times a day for issues.

When you wake up and when you go to bed.

I have around 100 pieces of gear to check.

I am not using a phone to check.

Many have 1000 pieces to check they won’t use a phone.

most likely a decent android tablet is better as screen size works well as compared to a phone.

So if play store puts it on a tablet it could sell.

but as I said i use other methods which are safe and free.
4324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z15 - Hardware version Connecting the socket failed: Connection rejected on: June 04, 2023, 03:35:12 PM
Hi,

my Z15 stopped working. There's no communication on the wallet. Neither rebooting nor reloading the firmware helped. Today I looked at Overview Miner and it says Hardware Version Socket connect failed: connection refused. Can you help me what the error is?

Go BTC go!

I know I was born on the 27th but enough with the 27's
4327  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New cooling setup for my asic room. on: June 04, 2023, 04:01:02 AM
So we filtered more intake ducts. And added a second ac.

setting up the intake on 6 tubes

6+7 =  tubes are now done they all feed s19's.

They have filters. Heat shields (silver bubble wrap)

and 4 car radiator fans giving a gentle air boost

this is inside the mining room and is the end of the cold isle. It is temporary

and here is the second 3 ton (36000btu) feeding in air.
note white heat air duct we will get that pointed outside next week end.

4329  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: June 04, 2023, 03:41:13 AM
I could argue we never had real miners capitulation this cycle. Although we did get near it in Nov 2022 when BTC was close to 16k

Indeed Phil, the rules have changed, different players, different times, many people including myself underestimated the mining power location shift, it's obvious that Chinese money and U.S money don't play by the same rules,  the former seemed to be a lot more conservative, when the Chinese controlled the game you would see hashrate drop or at least slow down drastically at times like these, it's like things made some sense back then and they no longer do.

Not saying one part of the world is better/worse, but looks like the U.S players have a lot more cash they can't put elsewhere, they see things that the Chinese couldn't see, or, they just don't know what the hell they are doing, the last is the least likely, but I am still positive that some large U.S miners will be rekt by next year.

Well the tax laws are fucking endless. So many angles to play.

The average USA based billionaire pays about 8% of their year income to taxes.

I make no where near $500k a year and my taxes are well over 20% of my income.

So I am thinking we will see growth on and on and on.

The interesting thing is June 1 to Oct 1 Texas can be very hot. So if they have 20% of the worlds hash in Texas we could see some rollbacks over the next 100 days.  But they will go away in the fall.
4330  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: June 04, 2023, 12:49:47 AM

About 2-4 hours left

and about +3.0 to +3.5% jump

world record diff of 51t+

It was a 3.39% increase, i am still amazed by the ability of these large guys to keep adding tens of thousands of gears ( probably the last generations) while BTC price is not helping and the halving is around the corner,  i doubt this would have happen if the main mining hub was in China like it was the previous halving, the U.S large players seem to have a ton of cash they want to use ( probably not thiers anyway)

I could argue we never had real miners capitulation this cycle. Although we did get near it in Nov 2022 when BTC was close to 16k
4331  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What pool to use or what to mine with an S3? on: June 03, 2023, 09:37:08 PM
I am currently mining in solo.ckpool with my recently acquired S3 (I paid 20 dollars second hand for it) and I have been mining for 10 hours and nothing. I know that it is a very low-power equipment, that's why I wanted to ask you if you recommend me to continue mining in that pool or change to another and Kas mines for example. I don't know, I'm really lost. If you can guide me I would be very grateful. All the best.

Another other way to look at this is

moder gear the s19 with 1 board not 3 set to low speed will pull 700 watts and do 27000gh or 27th

an s9 set to 1/3 speed will pull 400 watts and do 4700 gh or 4.5 th

a s3 set to full speed pulls pulls 380 watts and does 400gh  or  0.4 th

so 27 x 7 cents = $1.89 a day
and 4.5 x 7 cents = 31.5 cents a day

and .4 x 7 cents = 2.8 cents a day.

so in 100 days if power is free you have $2.80 USD

700 days if power is free you have $19.60 USD so not a good unit to mine with

If I have to describe in one sentence the price action in 2019 and 2020 it would be "The battle for 10K". I'm just curious which will be the new 10K for 2023 and 2024 - 30K, 40K or even 50K? My guess is 40K.

My guess is $29,900 will become the new $9,900.

It'll go sideways for what seems like forever, occasionally teasing > $30k only to get squashed down over again and again.  Roll Eyes

^^^^^^^^^^^

Hot take: We are here, and my estimate is that we will remain in this range, barting up and down, throughout 2023 and possibly into 2024.

Don't see any reason on the horizon for that to change until closer to halving. There will be a number of 'head fakes' along the way.

The only thing that could really alter this range bound is if Fed rates dropped by at least 2% or more.

Oh lookie, we still here. Same price range, different day.

Get used to it guyz....
works for me

My first cousin lost a kid to a tv set in the 90’s.

I always felt the move to tube conforming designs made them easier to pull over.

Yeah the 5 year old dropped it on the 9 month old while the mother was washing dishes. Very sad story.

Wow, that's rough.

I am sure that my cousin and his wife will never fully get over it.

I think it was 1996 or 1997 when it happened. I had an oldsmobile delta 88 with a 351 cu in 8 cylinder engine.

I dropped my wife at bus stop so she could go to work in manhattan and drove from howell nj to harrisburg pa . 180 mile trip did the church. went to the wake service. had the grief meal drove back 180 mile to howell. Amazing as it sounds as My wife’s pulled into the park and ride at the exact time I arrived.

So I drove 180+180= 360 miles. did a wake a chruch ceremony and a grief meal. Along with driving my wife to and from the park and ride.

Quite an odd long sad day.

Back on point.

https://decrypt.co/142711/us-debt-ceiling-deal-blocks-30-bitcoin-mining-tax-congressman

so if this passes and it should do so by Friday night

the 30% mining power tax increase will not happen in US.

So far Biden and McCarty did the agreement.
Budget committee passed it 7-6
House passed it 314 to 117 or so

Next up the senate
then the prez

should end this ceiling fud til 2025

To be nasty WTF are you doing!!!!!

the 4 fans on the a1246 do 200+ cfm each that is 800+cfm

the T30 phanteks do 101+ cfm  that is 404+ cfm

they do not have the balls to cool your gear off.

is there anyway to make it work on two boards ?

please note I put the logs in code for neatness.

I will review and try to help in a few minutes.

okay

 board 0 good
 board 1 good
 board 2 dead

so disconnect the left board and disconnect the right board

leave the one in the center.  I say this because the center board is certainly good.

Confusing the left and right boards is easy to do. but the center is good.

step 1)

so run it with just the center attached and show us the logs.

step 2)  will be done after step 1 is done. I will explain it to you once I see results of step 1
