omg, i hope not!

Most likely not, should only be some minor downtime.

Happened countless times even before the recent attack happened.
4342  Other / Off-topic / Re: MSI CEO passed away on: July 10, 2020, 01:25:05 AM

Anything becomes boring when you do it enough.  I remember the days of connecting to a BBS to download a driver for a new hard drive.  No such thing as plug n play back then.  Smiley

Not to forget network interruptions when a call comes in. Those were the days Grin
4343  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why hasn’t Bitcoin’s price skyrocketed? on: July 09, 2020, 01:05:21 PM
As for the price, it is quite realistic given the overall economic situation, and the fact that summer is in the Northern Hemisphere, so the bulls enjoy their mega yachts and crystal white sand beaches. They can’t pump up the price all year, everyone deserves a vacation.

I think he went all in when the price was near ATH, so he's been waiting since 2018 Grin

Multiple times to Our Payments lol,Ours is just like a Chicken compared to them .

Haha, ikr! Can imagine how many rejections many participants have to face just to secure that one available spot.
4345  Other / Off-topic / Re: Make money through Bitcointalk on: July 09, 2020, 10:40:18 AM
Currently Chipmixer is the campaign pay is high compared to any other signature campaign. They are paying upto BTC0.0375 per week for a user and you can calculate the USD value on yourself.

That only applies to the top guns of this forum. We peasants could only watch from a distance :c
4346  Other / Off-topic / Re: what if ? on: July 09, 2020, 10:29:05 AM
I would love that to happen man. It is one of my dreams to experience killing zombies all around the neighborhood
If there would be a zombie apocalypse i would be dead right now. Grin
Well it feels like there is zombie right now in our current situation people are afraid to go out and be infected with the virus.

Imagine being stuck in a country that prohibits ownership of any firearm.
4347  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm starting to enjoy the lockdown on: July 09, 2020, 10:24:31 AM
Actually, if you have more money then you will enjoy the lockdown. You just order foods and all you need throughout the day and enjoy watching movies at home .

I cant stand that kind of lifestyle. Have to go out and exercise instead of bumming around at home. Eating at home may be nice for a while but soon you'll miss eating out or home-cooked food.

Work-wise, I guess there's more work and monitoring required from the boss.
4348  Other / Off-topic / Re: MSI CEO passed away on: July 09, 2020, 09:54:52 AM
I love MSI motherboards!  But these days I spend less time upgrading components; I just replace the computer all together.  I'll probably never see the MSI logo again.  Sad

Why not? Customizing PCs has always been a fun activity once you assemble the parts altogether Grin
4349  Other / Meta / Re: A new group of scammers, make topics with phishing links. Please nuke them. on: July 09, 2020, 09:49:44 AM

There is now a limit for newbies to spread links, for example
but it seems to only work on certain types of links.

This may be the only solution without increasing restrictions on sing up or rank up requirements , it's just that need to add more types of links that can be suspected or even not allow all types of links even though inserting them as quote or code in some boards that are likely to be targeted by scammers .

They can still bypass if they do not include the protocol, like abc.com instead of https://abc.com.

About the link you posted, the contents were removed. What was it about?
4350  Other / Meta / Re: Where do Locked topics on the forum move to? on: July 09, 2020, 09:45:18 AM
Many had answered your questions, so repeating the same thing is another way of spamming in the thread. I'm avoiding that. Thanks to those that helped OP.
Absolutely, it's nice to ask questions you seems not to understand, that doesn't make you a fool. We all here to learn, acquire and practice.

If you dont like people commenting the same thing over and over, just report the topic for locking. It'd be locked sooner or later.

You are correct I only insult the idiots that I catch trying to steal from us when they persist in bullshit after I've told them they were banned for multi-accounting abuse. This idiot tried to give me advice about how to do my job and now he thinks me replying is spamming him. The only spamming against the forum rules going on here is his cross-posting in both our threads.

This is where I explained why he got banned.

I guess after a while, you'd be pretty thick-skinned dealing with those "Karens" Grin
4352  Other / Meta / Re: A new group of scammers, make topics with phishing links. Please nuke them. on: July 08, 2020, 10:26:58 AM
They are probably bot accounts and they will ditch the account and create a new one and spam the same thing again. I think the only way to combat this would be to make registration harder. The points of evil system only prevents a small minority of scammers and other bad members from signing up. The majority will probably be using clean vpns from something like openvpn and moving onto a different IP everytime making it almost impossible to prevent this happening on a large scale.

The captcha system can be exploited for pennies and that again is only preventing those that are not willing to spend anything but most scammers are willing to spend some money to earn money in return. I think our best option would be to making registration harder by including randomly generated questions related to the forum so they are both being taught how to use the forum as well as having to answer questions about it. These questions could be changed every 2 weeks or something to prevent bots learning how to answer them.

Another option would be the shadow ban that has been talked about a lot. I think this would probably be the most effective way although again for this specific scammer attack they would learn to get approved by a staff member and then continue on their way of scamming but this would probably stop bots being able to easily exploit the forum.

Maybe about time to introduce hCAPTCHA. Ironically reCAPTCHA is easy on bots, hard on humans.
4353  Other / Meta / Re: Is this a bug? on: July 08, 2020, 10:20:12 AM
Chill, this is just a small matter. We should only start worrying if our precious Merits and feedback score starts change numbers Grin
4354  Other / Meta / Re: Features of a Member rank on: July 05, 2020, 11:06:13 PM

I see when I was jr member rank, all was just plain and now what I do notice is BUMB what does Bumb really mean on this forum because I do see it on most thread I came across.

Do you mean BUMP? That basically means "Bring Up My Post"
4355  Other / Meta / Re: I created the Bitcointalk Stats Live Counter on: July 05, 2020, 03:56:00 PM
Curiosity question. Any donations you received with the address so far?
4356  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don't regret about your past mistake & Don't go against common sense. on: July 05, 2020, 03:53:21 PM
A trader under the hot sun one day approached me from the open window of my bus in the bus station and was trying to woo me on how to get a book title, "25 ways to end poverty" how is it that he hasn't cashed in on those ways,
That's how crazy some Ponzi can be giving you format-enriching schemes- in getting people -referral- when you just freshly registered,
The mirage that ponzi scheme might just hold in it a fortune for them keeps them from not learning for others experiences or theirs,

How much did his book cost?
4357  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am looking for merits...Let see how many will react violently... on: July 05, 2020, 03:44:54 PM
I was advised from others not to ask for merit on these forums. I was wondering why there is such a stigma against this, I have heard it is is very difficult to earn merit especially as new users such as ourselves. Hopefully as our post quality improves, the merit will come naturally.

Merits are meant to be given to good quality or deserving posts. For every 2 Merits you receive, you get 1 sMerit (sendable). In other words, they have to be earned to be given away.

Then there is a group which thinks it's easy to farm them, like upvotes. Just ask and you shall receive. Shortcut.

Naturally these kind of thing defeats the purpose of discussions when such beggars just want the easy way.
4358  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are user stats disabled? on: July 05, 2020, 03:39:44 PM

Apparently, later it was decided not to return this option.

However, detailed statistics for each user can be found on Bitcointalk Public Information Project

I guess we won't see this until the new software rolls out.

This SMF version is still vulnerable.
4359  Other / Off-topic / Re: Share your struggle story during Covid-19 on: July 05, 2020, 03:29:45 PM

Number one struggle which I think it's also top for most families is on where to get funds. Once my job went on a skeletal form of schedule, means I only get to work 2-4 hours a day, it is really hard to compensate for the entire family budget.

What industry are you working in atm?
4360  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Domain host and their abuse contact on: July 05, 2020, 03:00:05 PM
Can you please elaborate more? Share some links perhaps to those researchers who quited reporting phishing sites because it's just a waste of time? I'm interested, because as a researchers you have to do everything in your control to help take down those malicious sites. I will be happy to read it online (if there is one).

Here's one of the prominent ones, @JAYTHL. Disappeared and no one knows where he went: https://twitter.com/NathanMcNulty/status/1267526318716903424

Because those site hosts such as NameCheap still want things to be manually spoonfed (i.e. please submit a report through our form), rather than actively taking action against those abused sites or threat actors when the malware researchers have already spent time identifying the threat names, domains involved, hash/ files and the stages.
