4341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is better between keeping assets in exchange or personal wallet on: December 02, 2020, 06:33:43 PM
With your crypto funds you ought to take the responsibility of "being your own bank" and that has to do with protecting your funds yourself, of course quite a lot of people have lost their funds from their own follies, but thing is part of that responsibility is learning what you should do to make sure your funds are safe, asking questions, reading articles and making sure you're following the best security protocols; with this method, you have your funds and your keys without a third party and if you take this responsibility seriously, you'll definitely not lose your funds, at least your fate rests in your hands unlike on exchanges.

Having said that, exchanges are centralized and are third party services, if you leave your funds there and give them the responsibility of being your bank for you, how sure are you they'll take up that role seriously, we've seen exchange workers make mistakes that leaks data of their customers and makes them vulnerable to phishing attacks; then there is the other possibility of the exchange being hacked and your funds gone, crypto is not like the financial traditional institution, you'll most likely not get your funds back in a situation of a hack, and since Bitcoin was designed to eliminate a third party, then you're better of " being your own bank".

There is also a saying that "If you want something done well, you do it yourself".

Assuming that ^ happens, I expect PSG to move to the next round as they face IBFK on match day 6. Man U and RBL will be a do-or-die match  Grin
That's a very tough group with nothing yet to be decided, I must admit that when the group stages were drawn, I didn't give United any chance to go through, but surprisingly they have been the best team in the group thus far; I think PSG will win tonight and set up a cracking last game for all the teams; I expect to see lots of goals across the two games in group H tonight.
Ferencvaros Barcelona - quite high chance for  surprise.
It'll depend on the players Koeman fields tonight, Barcelona are through already, so they could rest a couple of starters and try out fringe players and that could give the opposition a chance in this game.
4343  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Australia’s crypto exchange, BTC Markets data breach on: December 02, 2020, 01:17:45 PM
According to the BTC Markets, the company uses an external email system to send out updates to its customers. In the process of sending out correspondence, the company’s customers’ names and emails were included in the ‘to’ section of emails, rather than being blind carbon copied or individually addressed.
Imo this is a somewhat very silly mistake, that could later, sometime 'down the road' cost someone their funds, I think this exchange should know better to avoid such mistakes, that's the thing with centralized establishments in crypto, you can't entirely trust them, that's why you should always remember to be your own bank and store your funds either in a hw wallet or in a wallet that you alone have the private keys, and never on an exchange.

Having said that, if you use that exchange, avoid clicking random links even if they look legit and verify any information or message you receive going forward, and mind you that despite the fact that this data is already in the black market, the phishing attempts may not start immediately, it could be after many months, so don't only stay vigilant for a while, but always be.
4344  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers at work on: December 02, 2020, 12:38:44 PM
If you go looking for the private keys or seed phrases of others to import (steal) their funds, and you then lose yours via that process, you really have no moral right to complain you were scammed, what if you were successful in stealing the funds, you would prolly have taught yourself smart; just learn to keep your private keys and seed phrase away from the public, but do not go looking for those of others, cause chances are low someone will expose theirs just like that, and as you can see, you could fall for scammers and it becomes counterproductive.
4345  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM Alert] Investmenow.com Ponzi scheme offering 500% hourly for 59 hours! on: December 01, 2020, 08:12:59 PM
Now that Bitcoin keeps edging closer to go above the 20k ath and start another bull run, and some altcoins looking to spike with it as well, scam attempts will prolly also increase, users should verify everything, some scams are pretty difficult to catch, but when you see something like a 500% ROI hourly, you don't need any form of verification to know it's definitely a scam and imo, only the extremely greedy can then fall for it, take responsibility and protect your funds or you lose them.
4346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: December 01, 2020, 06:49:05 PM
...but the elimination would make the owners of the inter understand that Antonio conte is not the right man for this team
Antonio Conte hasn't been too bad as head coach of Inter, at least last season in the seria A they had their moments and for a long time it looked like they may actually dethrone Juve, but they fell behind before the end, I think inter Milan need better players and not a change in manager, at least not yet, bring in a couple of new good talents into the team, give the manger another season, if he fails to deliver anything, then he could be sacked, having said that, I believe inter will win tonight.
Considering they pocketed a 4-0 win against them last time, even if Atletico hustles hard and scores two goals, there's still a chance for Bayern to win from their spectacular performance.
I think Athletico Madrid have improved since they conceded 4 against Bayern, especially in the laliga, and since Bayern have already qualified for the next round, and have had a couple of shaky performances in the bundesliga of late, I think ATM will either win this game or it ends in a draw.
4347  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noticed something and want to share. on: December 01, 2020, 11:09:14 AM
It is not the idea to bother them, but whenever you can you should consider participating in the threads they use to write.
I don't think a user should participate in any discussion just cause merit sources or any other user at all is in it, post in discussions cause you have something to contribute to it and you're comfortable doing so, and mind you that a merit source or other users mustn't necessarily join in a discussion before they give out merits, so just post wherever you wish and if the posts are good, then they'll prolly be merited.
4. Should I reply to every one who reply to my post? ( 4th number add now because I think this is compulsory question)
No, it can make your thread look disorganized, and there's no need to do so if you do not have anything useful or necessary (mind you that 'thank you' isn't necessary) to add to what the user posted, and then if you want to react to two or more replies, you can wait it out and through quotes include all of it in one post.
4348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Altcoin Safe for Investment on: November 30, 2020, 07:01:25 PM
So how we make altcoin investment safe ?
Sorry there is no way to do that since quite a lot of them are either pump and dump coins or they simply take away all your funds via scam, having said that, you can Invest in altcoins that have been in the market for some years now and whose network is good and constantly improving, like Ethereum for example; but if you want to make ROI from new projects and tokens and their hype, you'll most likely be falling into the same scam trap most of the time, remember to always DYOR first before investing in any cryptocurrecy.
4349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: November 29, 2020, 02:22:59 PM
Atletico are extending their leads over both Barcelona and Real Madrid, this surely could be their season ? or is it still way too early to speculate  Huh
While it may well be early to pick who will be laliga champions, Athletico Madrid will definitely be a contender this season, they look better prepared that both Barca and Madrid and if those two have an extended bad period, then Athletico can capitalize on this and be champions of Spain once again, Zidane isn't getting it right this season at Real, while Barca seem to have their own share of problems, from the board, to talks of Messi leaving/or not being happy, all this could play into Diego simeone's favor, it's still a long way to go btw.
4350  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ledger SMS phishing campaign – Yet another phishing SMS campaign in progress on: November 29, 2020, 10:14:42 AM
As long as those receivers of that phishing SMS won't entertain and click the link it has attached, they'll be fine.
Of course, but the thing is at least one or two people will prolly click the link, maybe those who were not aware of the data breach or those who don't really verify information when they receive them, but just go ahead to trust it; I know ledger owe it to their customers to make sure they keep them abreast with information and follow up if their data was leaked to the black market and warn them to be on the look out for phishing attempts, but users as well, should take responsibility and avoid clicking random links without proper verification, after all a hw wallet doesn't automatically mean you should forget security protocols as any little folly of yours would still amount to your funds being gone.
4351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ripple (XRP) is again in the news. Will it break its ATH before the Year Ends on: November 28, 2020, 05:49:15 PM
The Ripple team came up with a good strategy with the upcoming airdrop of Flare tokens next month to Ripple holders, and imo, I think many people have bought XRP in the last couple of weeks cause of this news. Thing is if many of the current buyers actually think of contributing to the Ripple network for the long term, or are only interested in the airdrop and will prolly dump the coin afterwards, if this is the case, then the pump will surely not last long and we may be seeing a dump in a couple of weeks after the airdrop is over, it'll be interesting to study what will happen with XRP in the next month or so.
4352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 28, 2020, 03:59:04 PM
lol City heard that Liverpool failed to win so they woke up Tongue
3 goals in the first half vs 0 goal to Burnley which seems completely out of the game!
It was a must win for city and that's what they are definitely going to do, City have a habit of hammering Burnley at the Etihad and it's looking like it's going to be the same old story, they have won 5-0 against Shean Dyche's men at the Etihad in their last three games IIRC, I'm wondering if anyone is considering staking a 'live' bet on this game ending with that same scoreline?
I am saying this for quite some time now. Brighton is playing very good football and they are unlucky they don't have more points this season. I did not expect them to take the point from Liverpool though.
That's very true, they have been somewhat unlucky not to have more points than they currently do, and imo, the point they got today was really very deserved, Liverpool will definitely be disappointed dropping points today, but it's becoming clearer every weekend that this seasons title race is going to be as close as ever, in contrast to what we had last season.
4353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the most advantage of Using Bitcoin Forum ? on: November 28, 2020, 01:36:21 PM
There are quite a lot of complex technicalities inherent in bitcoin, so much so, it's going to be very difficult for a newcomer to understand quite quickly, reading the whitepaper itself isn't enough and could even cause more confusion to one lacking in knowledge, but on bitcointalk, you can get a very easy to understand break down of quite a lot of things about Bitcoin from posts and efforts of others, I know you're prolly thinking you can also get that online, but it's very much different, when you read articles online, you'll prolly not be able to send the writer a message on the aspects you don't quite understand, but on the forum, questions, inquiries, no matter how basic or even annoying they are, are all accepted, and you'll definitely get one user or the other to answer them, so bitcointalk provides the most basic knowledge for newbies about bitcoin.

Having said that, Bitcoin is a decentralized concept with the pseudoanonymity feature, the forum also connects Bitcoiners from every continent of the world to discuss about Bitcoin, while still staying as anonymous as they want (as you get to set up your profile the way you choose), I know there are prolly more than one Bitcoin forums, but this is the best and contains the largest repertoire of knowledge.

Last but not least is the incentive to earn, this can be misleading though, to those who come with only that intention, if you're a good user, who puts in efforts, your contributions will be appreciated in the form of merits, this enables you rank up, and possibly wear a signature if you choose, thus earning 'pocket money' from the forum, while still making posts you'll make even without it.
4354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 27, 2020, 05:27:47 PM
If that news is true, it will become a bad news for Tottenham Hotspur. AFAIK, Dele Alli is one of the player who has a big role in the middle field of Tottenham. I don't see any other players who can replace his position there. I will be a big lose for Tottenham if he really leaves the club to Man. United.
That was prolly during the pochettino era as head coach of Spurs, but under Jose, Dele has been a shadow of himself, he's not getting game time and that's worrying for his young career, what's more worrying (for Ali) is Spurs seem to have found a winning team without him, and it's bad for a player when he's on the bench and the team gels so well and are winning, the manager has no reason to change anything, as long as the performance and winning streak is good, and I can understand if there are rumors of Ali leaving.

Having said that, it's going to be a loss if they lose him to Manchester United or any EPL rivals, Dele is good and they could just be strengthening their rivals, so even if Spurs are willing to sell, a team in another league will do for me.
4355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop wishing Ethereum dead or overthrown on: November 27, 2020, 11:15:27 AM
Ethereum is an ever developing network, mind you that it has developed and is still developing faster than any other altcoin, that's prolly why AFAIK, no altcoin can surpass the progress eth has made on the alternative cryptocurrecy market, I think with eth 2.0, ethereum is going to be even better, with a spike in it's price, it's good of other coins to want to take ethereum out, at least if they are really working on their network to do so, creates a competitive market and is good for the network.

4358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reason for calling Bitcoin scam on: November 27, 2020, 07:22:35 AM
Thing is with Bitcoin, there are a couple of personal responsibilities that rests on the shoulder of the user, and with just a little effort you can comfortably be your own bank, be in control and secure your funds, but quite a lot of people have failed to do this while holding Bitcoin and prolly lost it to scammers, the media picks up this news and spreads it as "Bitcoin scam", when it was actually the users folly. What about users who keep their funds on centralized exchanges, when they know they should not, exchange gets hacked, funds lost and it turns into another "bitcoin scam", all this creates a risk concern in people's mind about btc, and a very wrong conception about Bitcoin.

Having said that, if more people will appreciate the responsibility that has to go with being your own bank, then the talk of bitcoin being a scam will stop, btc is obviously not a scam, but there are scammers that want to steal your btc, and even your fiat currency, just that with btc, you have to secure yourself as there is no third party in it.
4359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 27, 2020, 06:59:02 AM
This season the biggest surprise from Spurs is the sacrifice from Kane. I did not imagine that Kane can accept the sacrifice and I did not think he can do his works well like that with assist. Somehow Kane did his works too well with goals and assists and Spurs get benefit from this surprise.
Kane has matured thoroughly this season, he has always been a prolific marksman, but this season his game has also become more productive, bringing assists, more running from him as he makes up more ground, tracking back to help closing down opposition and releasing his teammates with beautiful passes during counter attacks, imo, if Spurs are going to win the EPL this season it'll depend on Kane keeping up this form till the end of the season, son as well.
Dele Alli is a minus point for Spurs and I hope Mourinho will help Alli come back.
Dele is having a very bad time, but it's normal, i think Mou has found his starting eleven and Dele is not in it, that's why he's always on the bench, he must have to work hard or wait for injuries to break into this squad atm, for now Dele just has to be patient and support the team.

Good poem @abdulodoi, your piece of poetry is easy to understand, so I hope it would help one or two newbies to actually "buckle up" on the forum and learn about bitcoin here, I personally love poems and I have a proclivity towards them, IIRC, I think the first poem i read on the forum was written by @Lordhermes (he creates good pieces of poetry btw), but since then a couple of other users have tried the 'art' out; I hope with this 'beautiful lines' users are actually being enlightened by the messages in this poems.
