Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see the conversation around here has again become dominated by The Great Debate (into which I refuse to be sucked).

Meanwhile the price remains virtually unchanged since yesterday... $746USD/$1006CAD.

Bitcoin soldiers onward.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Slid back a little I see...$744USD/$1002CAD.

Hopefully we won't stagnate here for too long.

$744? where the heck did you see 744? It's $730 and keep dropping.

Bitcoinaverage.

Yes it's dropping... currently $743.

Then you are looking at the wrong place, check out bitstamp and bitfinex.

Maybe you're looking in the wrong place. It's $754 on Huobi. Even higher at Localbitcoins or any Indian exchange.

I use Bitcoinaverage as my principal reference because they average prices from all exchanges weighted to volumes, ignoring volumes from zero-fee exchanges.

I'm not sure what Jimbo is talking about, but I think he probably should keep his trap shut about his activities.

Just speaking hypothetically of course. I never said I was doing any of this.

I'm neither a hooker nor a dope dealer nor a tax evader. Those things are illegal almost everywhere.
4366  Economy / Speculation / Re: IRS sniffing around Coinbase on: November 23, 2016, 12:45:16 AM
They only need to know about a couple of transactions from your wallet and then they can use blockchain analysis to get the rest..

Only if you're foolish enough to keep all your coins in one wallet. As along as your coins are kept in as many separate wallets as possible, your risk is minimized.

Only wallets that can be traced to exchanges, personally identifiable purchases, payment services, online wallet apps, etc., are at risk of government snooping.

Be sure to separate your wallets into those with compromised anonymity and those that are fully anonymous.
4367  Economy / Speculation / Re: IRS sniffing around Coinbase on: November 23, 2016, 12:30:34 AM
One would have to be stupid to think that trading on a US exchange is safe from the IRS. I would hope people with some common sense planned ahead if they did so.

Hooray for anonymous off-exchange trading.

It's like trying to tax a street hooker who takes her "fee" to buy dope from a street dealer. No names, no banks, no taxes.  Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin Cool

The wall was for exactly 1000 btc. We need higher prices to see more impressive walls.

Sometimes the biggest walls are at lower prices.

Remember the epic Bearwhale wall in Oct 2014? That was 30,000 coins at $300 per.

OR, it could have been a large bull who simply tested the market's downside.
Remember Jesse Livermore? As per "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" (ageless book).
He always put in a large sell order to see how market reacts before starting accumulation on the long side.

Indeed. I never read that book but I've seen that ploy before. In fact I see it all the time.

The big difference is that it usually gets pulled after a certain amount of nibbling. Bearwhale stood by and watched it all get eaten.

As it is he had ample time later to buy back at a lower price.
______

Funny thing, both Finex and Stamp just dipped but Huobi just keeps soldiering along.

They were close to being at par. Now the spread is starting to widen.
4369  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000+ is anytime now on: November 22, 2016, 08:42:06 PM
I hope you're right.

Once the price hits $930USD, we'll be at a Canadian dollar ATH.

That was clearly some kind of soap opera.

That's why I'm here.

Face it. Slow accumulation of a nest egg is pretty boring.

The drama of the market swings, especially the obviously manipulated ones, can provide excellent entertainment.

Poor bearwhale, never forget.

Yes, apparently he was delicious. Fed lots of hungry bulls.

Ha, this is so much fun!

Indeed it is, unless you're one of those fools who sold on Sunday.

Remember though that this is just returning to where we were before Sunday's dip.

I'll start getting more optimistic when we pass $780 and start working on $800.

Still waiting for the train.

4374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2016, 05:44:28 PM
when will the next small dip happen?

Small dips happen all the time. There's usually a significant one after a major upward push through a resistance point.

I foresee that happening around $780.
4375  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2016, 04:54:57 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

The recovery from Sunday's little dip is almost complete... $754USD/$1012CAD.

Of course there was bound to be some resistance at $750 but hopefully that's behind us now.

Let's get 'er movin' on up again.
4376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nobody is talking about the reason for this rise! on: November 21, 2016, 07:14:25 PM
You need a reason for a rise?

Rising in value is what Bitcoin has pretty much always done, except for one freak year (2014) when it actually fell.

Rising is nothing unusual.

I smell another dump.

In your "shorts"?

Don't forget about calme, though I am sure calme will figure out a way to change his story when his shorts get r3ckt

How about Kwuk? He sold for $10 and has been in a state of denial ever since, chanting his mantra of sell-sell-sell/dump/short.

He couldn't have sold at yesterdays bottom though. If you aint got nuthin' you got nuthin' to dump.  Cheesy

Good AM Bitcoinland.

No surprises this morning. We're about halfway back from yesterdays little correction/profit-taking... $745USD/$1000CAD according to Bitcoinaverage.

Yesterday's red candle was a bit on the tall side but it was still appreciably shorter than the green candle 4 days earlier.

I hope everyone added coins to their stashes. The $975CAD I paid yesterday was by far the most I ever paid but I want to keep accumulating and it might have been my last chance to buy for less than a grand. It was $1025 just hours earlier.

My condolences to anyone who sold.
