4361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is this the long awaited bull run? on: November 25, 2020, 09:53:30 AM
The Bitcoin network has improved since 2017, that's why I believe this bull run will be different from the one of three years ago that brought about the ath of $20k, thing is first there was a pandemic that made quite a lot of Bitcoiners actually doubt that there will be an effect of this years btc halving on the price, but that wasn't the case, the pandemic didn't seem to affect Bitcoin, or if it did, only for a few weeks, then there's been adoption from traditional institutions and companies that you wouldn't believe they'll be interested in either investing in bitcoin or even making it their reserve asset.

Having said that, the point remains that this year was pretty good for Bitcoin, in terms of adoption and the rest, and more people seem to understand the network even more, I believe the bull run will surpass that of 2017, and we'll not see any crash afterwards, or the media calling it a bubble.
4362  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: November 25, 2020, 07:55:28 AM
Ronald Koeman should start working on post Messi departure or exist so as put up and assemble a formidable Barca team that can compete at the top level with other top European clubs.
I think so too, Barcelona do not need to hold on to Messi, I felt they should have let him leave at the end of last season, it's clear they can't hold on to him for much longer, he has already given his all of Barca (good things prolly must come to an end), and it's time for them and him to move on; that way Barca can build their team, but this time without Messi in it, it'll take the team quite some time to handle Messi's departure, but the sooner they start, the better.

Having said that, in today's game Olympiakos takes on City, can Pep continue his amazing form in the group stages this season and seal qualification today, I feel it'll be an easy win for Manchester City, they are fumbling in the epl, but not in the CL.
4363  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Another fake atomic app on google play store on: November 25, 2020, 07:40:34 AM
There is now so many of this fake apps on Google play store, and so many threads repeating the same warning to users not to download crypto apps or wallets from playstore, but from official sources/sites. I think by now any responsible user will protect their funds and stop using Google playstore, but the heads up is good btw, for new users and those who don't know they can download fake sites and malwares from some apps on playstore.

I'll report this app, and hope they take it down asap (though I know it'll take them some time, which is another flaw in their system).
4364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful this coming Black Friday on: November 24, 2020, 07:05:51 PM
Just like when btc halving was very close, to now that btc has crossed 19k and this last Friday of Nov (Black Friday), they are all good times for scammers to trick people, mind you that scammers operate round the clock all the time, but there are certain periods that makes their operation easier, during this times, people are more anxious to get something at a good offer, make good ROI quickly, get into a rising Investment etc; having said that, with more effort put into verification rather than trusting, then there'll be no way you'll be fooled by scammers, it's a good head ups op.
4365  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin retirement account on: November 24, 2020, 10:31:57 AM
Imo, the idea of a bitcoin retirement account is good for people who are already Bitcoin users, who already understand the network, it's volatility and it's risks, and want a currency that can act as a hedge to fiat vulnerabilities and also appreciates (depreciates as well) rapidly in value, for others who have a lopsided view of the network, they will prolly not fancy it, and if ever they do, any slight plunge and they may start calling for a change in "currency" of their retirement plan. Having said that, my point is if companies are ever going to introduce the option of a Bitcoin retirement plan, it should be voluntary, for workers who want to choose it, and it must also be implemented in such a way that the worker is fully in control of the funds going into the wallet, for security reasons. It'll btw be good for adoption and help people build a btc portfolio.
4366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 23, 2020, 07:37:53 PM
This meme really on point about Mourinho, he would even give Manchester City 98% ball possession just to win the game with one goal  Tongue
We'll see how far that pattern can take him and if Spurs can push for the title with it, personally I didn't think Spurs were that excellent against City, yes they carried out what Mou instructed them to do to perfection, but I think it was more of city being lazy and not having any real attacking drive going forward, well you can say it was down to the 'bus' spurs packed in front of their goal; I know soon the mind games will start, and Mou is good at it, but it's still very early in the league and City could still bounce right back in it.
The same ol' Mourinho  Grin Grin Grin

No domestic league title since 2014/15.

No CL since 2010.

Same ol’ Mourinho Wink
Lol, Mou is really desperate to win a major title again, cause he knows he can't afford to get sacked another time; well I hope he doesn't win the EPL this season Wink

I like the message your art work depicts, it also looks cool; on the issue of regurgitated questions, there are inquiries that are much better to clarify than others, even if they are asked over and again, for example, lately there have been few newbies asking questions about hardware wallets cause they want to buy some btc and need the safest kind of wallet, inquiries such as this one can't go wrong, and the discussions that follow will be educative, not just for the inquirer, but for other users likewise.

Having said that, if you're going to ask questions, you should at least make sure the answers you'll get back are going to teach you something new that you can't at the very least 'easily' find yourself, or if you're going to introduce yourself, follow this quote below:

If you feel the need to post an introduction thread please take the effort to write something substantial or don't bother at all. Threads and post that contain only one word/sentence such as "hello & welcome to the forum" will be removed without warning as it causes unnecessary clutter.
4369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real purpose of Bitcoin on: November 22, 2020, 04:08:14 PM
Okay, true that prolly all Satoshi had in mind was a payment system without a third party, but isn't it great that the network has evolved and now Bitcoin can be used for multi-purposes; from a currency (money) and by extension a payment system to being an investment plan, a reserve asset and hell yeah even "digital gold"; there's absolutely 'no bad' in all of that and in how people choose to use the Bitcoins in their wallets, all this diverse uses is even advantageous for the network and it's walk to mass adoption.
4370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multiparty computation: The Trojan Horse of crypto regulation on: November 22, 2020, 02:30:52 PM
Bitcoin users who value their privacy, security of funds, anonymity and do not want any sort of regulations wouldn't use centralized third party services, Centralized exchanges for example are already giving out information/data of customers to the government, while that's very bad and there is prolly an excuse for them (that they are somewhat under the ruling govt where they are located), Multiparty computation is worse as your handing over your private keys to a third party service for no reason, cause I don't buy the security feature they claim to offer, there are many ways to secure your crypto whilst still being in full control of your keys, remember, "not your keys, means it's not your funds".

Having said that, I think all this different services is only a way to stealthily bring in more regulations to cryptocurrecy; thing is many Bitcoiners do not still understand how important their privacy is, and that Bitcoin was created to eliminate a third party, the more people patronize this third party services, the more strength they garner. Bitcoin requires your personal responsibility to handle your funds and protect them, and with just a little effort you can do that without any third party.
4371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin very Big problem on: November 22, 2020, 01:35:51 PM
Thing with many altcoins and their projects is they all have 'reincarnated' use cases that have failed before, and the project owners using them now only want to scam Investors, another thing also is that many of them are pump and dump coins, and aren't good for long term investment, as they can only give ROI when they pump (short term), tbh I only trust a few altcoins (like ethereum), users who invest in many altcoins are vulnerable to many losses.

Having said that, Bitcoin is very different from them, you at least can be sure your stash is never going to zero, even if it plunges, the value appreciates again after some time, btc is already on a bull run and if you're looking for crypto to invest in, choose it.
4372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 22, 2020, 08:37:13 AM
Lastly I believe that it’s time we all acknowledge that Tottenham has an excellent chance of winning the premier league, and I’ll be absolutely delighted for Mourinho if he can win it again.
Of course after their win against City and now top of the table with 20 points and just one loss thus far this season, I can say Spurs are also in the title race, unless they capitulate as the season goes on, but with the motivation Mourinho will be giving his players, I think they'll be in it till the final week of this season. They have beaten United and now City, that's two big wins and that's definitely a statement sent to everyone in the league.

Having said that, I know pep just signed a contract extension with City, but he really needs to fix his team, or there could be questions if City needs a new manager, they are doing too bad, and they spent well to bring new players into the squad, the club needs trophies to justify the money being spent, the season is still long, but if they keep dropping points like this, they'll be out of the race by early next year.

Odds on Tottenham vs Man City are 4.0-2.0... I certainly think that will win Man City, but odd on Tottenham is very attractive! I am sure it will be an interesting match! Both teams are strong opponents... Wink
I can't just predict this match, of course I know spurs are in the better form this season, but City, with the quality they have can come up with an excellent performance anytime and blow absolutely any team away. Having said that, the two managers and their rivalry also comes into play, we know pep likes playing attractive attacking football, Mou on the other hand is a little bit defensive, but this season, Mou's Spurs have a good attacking flow in their team, neither of the managers likes to lose to the other. There are many things to look out for in this game, but I'll give the edge to City, they'll either win or the game ends in a draw, but City need the 3 points more imo, they have dropped too many already, but one thing is sure, and that's we're all going to be entertained by this match today.

4376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Another person losses $20k to Fake Uniswap on Google Play on: November 20, 2020, 05:27:06 PM
Google ads and their apps on playstore are not properly filtered to remove scam ads/apps, users run a risk of losing their funds if they download anything from playstore that they have to input their seed phrases into, that's were responsibility in crypto comes in, users should verify and go through only the official source. Having said that, $20k is a pretty large sum of money, if one decides to get crypto ads like this one from playstore, to be sure it's legit, they could first import a wallet with a very small amount.

4378  Economy / Economics / Re: Mexico's billionaire invests in Bitcoin on: November 20, 2020, 08:56:07 AM
Now that a billionaire is into bitcoin, probably this will open more opportunities to other wealthy persons or huge institutions to start on studying about bitcoin and crypto and embrace its potentials that it will definitely grow its market value in the years to come.
He is definitely not the first Billionaire to invest in Bitcoin, there are many more, and mind you that a lot more wouldn't make it public if they invest in btc, for some reasons; and for "huge institutions", many companies are already joining the Bitcoin network and that can be one of the reasons why the price is appreciating fast at this time, imo, the BTC network is now so alluring to investors and even traditional institutions, and that's great for adoption.
Maybe we can see reaching new ATH by Christmas Cheesy. I would be happy to see that scenario happening.
It's not impossible, but even if it's not achieved in this said time, it will by early 2021. When btc crosses 20k, then we can now see if it'll continue to spike high, or if there'll be a major fall, or if quite a large number of people will pull out, there are so many questions and things to look out for, and it's somewhat interesting for we Bitcoiners, bearing in mind you didn't invest more than you can afford to lose.
4379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple and Bitcoin on: November 20, 2020, 08:19:01 AM
I'd like to start by saying that normally users will compare ripple and any other fairly good altcoin to ethereum, but till this time eth is still much better than them all. Bitcoin is used as a hedge against fiat inflation, it's the crypto that companies want to invest in and make their reserve asset; Bitcoin stood steady this year, even after the pandemic and all and now is moving up to cross the ath, Bitcoin is much better and 'bigger' (even on a global scale) than Ripple, it's much more widely used and appreciated than any other crypto, for most people when they hear cryptocurrecy, only Bitcoin comes to their mind, having said that, Ripple has it's own pros, and it's good for the altcoin network for a few reasons, but Bitcoin is irreplaceable.
