4361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 02, 2017, 10:26:29 PM
Hey guys, pls tell, does this kind of project have competitors?

Ethereum has a lot of competitors but none of them have the similar level Ethereum has. You can find smart contracts, token creation etc. in other projects but they are immature yet. In the future there will be better competitors but right now Ethereum is at the top.

Exact

The only question people should be asking is

When moon?
Who knows? With ICO managers dumping Ethereum it might take a while. Would need fresh blood from outside of the crypto world to significantly drive the price up. I really don't think that Ethereum is the best hodl coin, considering it's used to invest in ICOs and fuel them.
4362  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I quit trading on: November 02, 2017, 10:15:44 PM
I certainly will not do any more trading. Because I am very difficult economically right now, I am not psychologically good, it will take some time to recover the money I lost.

Do not give up just because you lost some of your coins. When you did something wrong it means you learn something, so never give up and learn from your experience that is how every traders are dealing everyday.
No, he should probably be giving up on that by now. Did you even read that before commenting or you just read the headline? He has been trading for 2 years and now, invested 47 BTC and lost about 7 BTC, bro if it’s me, no way, I’m finding something else that is much better than trading and not waste my time on it. So I say give up.

Yes, I think he should give up now. 40 BTC = $244,000.00. Wowww! That's a big amount of money. Let do anything he wants, traveling around the world, betting on football or horse racing,... Cool
I must say that this is not a good thing to quit. There is famous quotation “Never give up”. You actually keep on working and trying hard. Only then you’ll be able to achieve what all you actually want to achieve. If you will lose hope, then this will only add more troubles for you and it will do nothing in your favor. So you actually need to be well prepared for all the things so that you can avoid failure.
Very true. People give up way too early and easily and don't really try to reach their full potential for some reason, even though everyone is capable of achieving things beyond their wildest imaginations.
4363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin rise to $500k in three years? on: November 02, 2017, 10:13:07 PM
lol, I think he just kidding. How can 1 BTC equal a half million dollars? If it reaches that peak, I think all investors in the world will waive Stock market to invest in Cryptocurrency. :v
Did you ever hear about the great depression that has started 1929 after the New York stock market crash? If something like this will happen until 2020 and it can happen at any time because the fiat system is an illusion based on believes, then one bitcoin can easily cost $500k. In such cases only one bread could cost $100!
There aren't enough Bitcoins to cause such a massive dollar inflation with a price of "only" 500k per BTC.
I don't understand what you mean with aren't enough bitcoins, because the less bitcoins available and the higher the demand, the more the price will increase.

But such a massive dollar inflation will be caused by the FED with printing more and more dollars to stimulate the economy without real countervalues.

Google for "Helicopter Ben".
There aren't enough Bitcoins around to make enough people rich from a 500k Bitcoin price to cause any sort of economic problems where bread would cost $100.

If that happens it would be because the federal reserve keeps crapping out too many dollars, but that's completely independent of Bitcoin and only one scenario in which the USD/BTC rate could skyrocket. It's the least likely though, at least in the next couple years.
I see now the misunderstood. It's almost impossible that the bitcoin price will increase to $500k within 3 years at the current value of the US dollar.

Only if the US dollar with lose its value heavily based on a great depression or because they print too much and throw the dollars out of helicopters, then the scenario of $500k per bitcoin could come true. And in this case the bitcoin owners don't become rich, because $500k will be worth $10,000 compared with the value of the US dollar today.
I do agree that $500k in just 3 years is too short. But I don't think that a "galloping" US dollar inflation would be required to reach such a price. The market cap would be "only" 8 trillion with that price, which really isn't that much if you consider that Apple and Alphabet are roughly 0.8 trillion EACH. The stock market is several times that number too.
I also don't think that a "galloping" US dollar inflation would be required to reach such a price one day. Especially as there are trillions parked in the derivatives market and if they fear it will crash or it starts to crash and look for something else promising, then bitcoin can experience an unpredictable boom!

But the question is until August 2020 and without a hyperinflation of the US dollar this scenario is almost impossible.
I'm with you on this assessment. $500k by 2020 seems way over the top unless we quadruple every year from now on.
4364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: November 02, 2017, 10:11:14 PM
Why would anyone want to use Bitcoin to buy drugs?

1. Drug is bad for you never do it.
2. Bitcoin is so much better than drugs you can invest in it and earn a profit.
1. Completely wrong. Please do proper research and don't believe baseless propaganda.
Many recreational drugs are far safer than alcohol and tobacco and even some foods. Quite a few of them even have very positive and lasting health benefits, which is why they are slowly starting to crawl up in medical research again (psychedelics and MDMA).

The Imperial College in London (one of the most reputable universities in the world) is conducting research on the impact of LSD when used for problem solving (Mathematics and Physics) with very promising results (due to the increase in neuroplasticity and neurogenesis).
Psychedelics literally stimulate the creation of new brain cells, which has a positive impact on mood, intelligence and creativity.

As such, these substances are also potential candidates for treating depression, PTSD and addiction, among other problems.

I like the idea. The question remains for realization. We are waiting for a real prototype.

Welcome!

The preview was already released and the test version is coming quite soon. I personally don't have any doubt that this team will realize their vision, as they've been going at it for a while already. It'll ultimately just be a question of marketing and adoption, which won't be difficult after a solid amount of funds gets collected during the ICO.
4366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next 5 year for Bitcoin on: November 02, 2017, 09:57:04 PM
Hey, to each his own! We've all got our own predictions. I feel extremely confident in bitcoin being over $100k in five years. I'd surprised if it isn't 6 digits in five years.
Would you bet all of your money on that though?

haha since when are we betting all our money on the price?
I wouldn't bet all my money on any specific price prediction on bitcoin or anything else in the world.

But I will say I feel 90% sure the price will be over $100k in 5 years (personally I think it will probably happen in 4 years around the end of 2021). And I do plan to hold most of my bitcoin until the price is $100k, at which point I'll slowly start selling in order to diversify my portfolio, and I expect to start doing this in less than 5 years.
Interesting approach, I've gone the opposite way. Went with altcoins until I cracked $1000k then started diversifying into safer assets like Bitcoin and stocks. Probably add some real estate as well.
4367  Other / Politics & Society / Re: how to break teenage video game addiction on: November 02, 2017, 09:54:40 PM
Look for an alternatives, like sports (basketball, baseball, or soccer) there are lots of ways, but to be honest this types of addiction will fade so let them enjoy it, actually I'd rather see them play games than to drink and do drugs.
Great stance. Wish more parents saw it this way.

4370  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin regaining dominance. on: November 02, 2017, 09:04:31 PM
Bitcoin is regaining dominance, yes. It always does if you look back in time. Bitcoin is a deflationary currency which means that the supply that is being distributed every 10 minutes via the blockchain where miners receive a reward, that is halved every four years and it started of with 50BTC in 2009. Now it is 7.25 for a block reward, but the miners that hash also get fees from transactions as well.

So far Bitcoin is inflationary

Though you could in fact claim that many coins get lost everyday and thus the real number of bitcoins available for trading or other uses is gradually diminishing. But ultimately this is irrelevant. What matters is real adoption, and if there is none, no amount of scarcity (if i can say so) will help Bitcoin. It is not enough to be scarce, Bitcoin (or anything else, for that matter) should also be useful for some real purpose. Speculation gives Bitcoin which some would call value, speculative value, but how long will it last on speculation alone?
Is it in any way possible to estimate how many coins have been lost accurately?

4372  Other / Politics & Society / Re: how to break teenage video game addiction on: November 02, 2017, 09:01:53 PM
I think if the problem is in online games, parents have the power to stop teenagers from video game addiction, I've experienced it. By monitoring the spending of money for their teenage child. Parents should not arbitrarily give money, if children ask for money, just ask the money for what, do not give if it is to play online games. I've been through it and I managed to quit the addiction of playing video games.
If your signature is anything to go by you've replaced it with a gambling addiction though? I really hope for you that's not the case and you're just doing the campaign for extra BTC.
4373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins are dying on: November 02, 2017, 09:00:35 PM
Have you heard that one of the biggest exchange for alt coins Nova Exchange will close sometime in the coming months? Does anyone know why this is happening? Is this due to loss of revenue because almost everybody is going to bitcoin now?
Change of management. As far as I know Nova has been sold and the new owners are changing or upgrading the platform.
4374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin rise to $500k in three years? on: November 02, 2017, 08:59:20 PM
No it is impossible to happen because if you have 2 bitcoin you become millioniare what if those people have thousands of bitcoin they are now billionaire on that day. And for sure the maximum price of bitcoin maybe 30k or 50k only. But we dont know what will happen to the bitcoin price . I think the price of bitcoin in the year of 2020 is maybe it will become 20k dollars and that's big amount.
At 500k per Bitcoin at most 8000 people could be billionaires if they held 2000 Bitcoins each. In reality, Bitcoins are much more scattered, so that's not going to happen. But even if that wouldn't be any problem. There are tens of millions of millionaires and thousands of billionaires in the world already.

Who cares if you add a few to that, there are still going to be 7 Billion "normal" and poor people in the world.
4375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves hold for longterm Good or Not? on: November 02, 2017, 08:56:39 PM
Personally I'm a big believer of Waves,

Ive been collecting them for a long time, and can see the benefits that holding has,

Each week I recieve my Leased POS rewards, and every month or so I get my airdrop coins on top of these (Mobile Go tokens, SmartRE etc)

The upcoming roadmap shows a lot of good development, from Smart contracts to a new DEX exchange.

The airdrops and altcoin lease rewards are the biggest drawing point of Waves for me. It's a very unique feature that no other platform really has so far. If the usage of Waves increased the altcoin rewards themselves could make some very nice money.
4376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next 5 year for Bitcoin on: November 02, 2017, 08:55:16 PM
$50k, worth to invest now?
In Bitcoin? Or altcoins?

Asking him with bitcoin or alt coins? Obviously we are on the speculations board for bitcoin so it's $50k investing for bitcoin. If you can avail the price now, just invest with it forget it for 5 years from now and you'll definitely get 100 - 1,000 % return.
100% in 5 years is pretty damn weak though. Can get more with stocks with more safety.

Yeah five years will be more like 2000% return for bitcoin
That could be a little too much, but it's probably not too far off if things keep going the same way.

I don't think its a little too much. Low to mid 100-thousand. Sounds about right for 5 year from now. I'd expect bitcoin to pass $100k in 4 years probably.
I honestly would be surprised if that happened, but I wouldn't plan my life around that prediction. Five years is a large amount of time in crypto, and we don't know if or how regulators would try to bring crypto down yet.

Hey, to each his own! We've all got our own predictions. I feel extremely confident in bitcoin being over $100k in five years. I'd surprised if it isn't 6 digits in five years.

It is still one of the best long term hold investment. But only if you have enough patience  Grin Because you will not make profit for next a few months you should be ready to wait for long in advance.
If you don't have patience you shouldn't invest. Impatient people always end up losing everything at some point. Tongue

so the asset contract is comming back?! but why let the mco token drop to hell and then change mind afterwards?!
now kris sounds like: oh wow what a surprise making mco useless did drop the price so much that we have to take some action...

what game is this?
Yeah I don't know what's going on either. I hope it was just a flunder and not deliberate market manipulation.

But for now let's see what legal workaround they will propose and leave them the benefit of the doubt if investors are going to get what they were promised.

since tenX can do it legally, i am sure they can do the same, but i am also a 100% certain kris and his "crew" knew excatly what will happen as soon
as they announce that the token is useless.....
this must have been planned, he did not anounce a single bit before talking to lawyers .. this time : ahh i got some messages from the community and
5 sec later the token is back in the game...

VERY VERY FISHY ..
I do agree that their moves were very strange. They should've been able to predict the reaction and outcome unless they were seriously lacking sleep or something like that, which I hope to be the case. In reality it does seem quite fishy though... let's see where this will go from now on.
4380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin rise to $500k in three years? on: November 02, 2017, 08:38:03 PM
lol, I think he just kidding. How can 1 BTC equal a half million dollars? If it reaches that peak, I think all investors in the world will waive Stock market to invest in Cryptocurrency. :v
Why would they? If it reaches $500k it's unlikely to double again in any forseeable time, so there's no reason to "invest" in it. People might use it as a safe haven instead of gold at that point since volatility should be getting very low at that market size. And some will buy Bitcoin to participate in altcoin investments. But the stock market would not die unless stocks move over onto the blockchain to take out the inefficient and expensive brokers.
I do not even know what to think if Bitcoin rises in price to such a level and the reality we can see the fall of all brokerage exchanges is a comma, but this will be followed by a completely huge decline in the economy of each developed country. This is practically a disaster for the global financial system and the economy as a whole.
Who cares about the traditional financial system? If stocks move onto the blockchain that's a plus for everyone. And the economy wouldn't collapse from it either, if anything it would boom due to how easy investing and starting a company would become.
