4381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats causing the re rise of BTC? on: November 19, 2020, 08:15:41 PM
This will always happen, and if history repeats itself Bitcoin will rally up, and then lose value fairly significantly making many impatient investors take the loss, and therefore lose money.
This 'history' can very well repeat itself, and I think the investors that will be shaken by it are those who prolly joined the network not too long ago (this year maybe), or are investors who bought right after the halving ( you know many invested after that event), without any knowledge of Bitcoins history/it's historical rise and fall. Having said that, for investors who understand the Bitcoin network more and even go as far as appreciating and also using btc as a currency (money) and not only as an investment, no significant loss of value will make them sell up the stash in the wallets. What I'm saying is, the best way to invest in Bitcoin is first to understand quite a lot about it, joining the network to get rich quickly is more often than not 'counterproductive'.
4382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: November 19, 2020, 07:54:38 PM
Real Madrid have lost Ramos to international injury (or is that just rumor) so do you think it's possible another loss is for them to a lesser team? I am ready to pick one upset this week.
They aren't even playing that much of a 'lesser' team this week as they are up against Villarreal, a team doing very well this season; Madrid is a world class team and they should be able to cope if it's confirmed that Ramos will be absent in this match, but they have dropped careless points to smaller teams this season. Having said that, they seem to win the big games, like the match against Barcelona, so I think they'll beat Villarreal in this game, I predict a 2-1 victory for real Madrid.
I think it's already the time for Messi to retire.
Do you mean retire from international football, that's prolly possible, but for club duties Messi still has many years ahead of him, either in Barcelona, Manchester City or any other team he leaves to, it's definitely time imo for Messi to leave Barcelona, but not to leave football, definitely not.
4383  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price increase = scam increase - BE CAREFUL, friends on: November 18, 2020, 08:49:36 PM
As anyone heard of bitcoin scams recently? I haven't seen much in the news...would love to hear about what big bad things have been happening.
I haven't as well, and as btc's rise continues, I hope it stays that way so the only news on the media about Bitcoin will be positive. People prolly now know better that btc isn't some scheme to get rich quickly, if one didn't invest earlier on before this bull run started, you shouldn't get affected by FOMO, but carefully analyse the market, and when to get it next, but if you're looking to earn some from either giveaway (scams), Ponzi or any other quick means, then sorry, you're going to be scammed.
4384  Economy / Economics / Mexico's billionaire invests in Bitcoin on: November 18, 2020, 02:11:09 PM
This is a big news for Bitcoin, the second richest man in Mexico has just revealed that he invested 10% of his "liquid portfolio" in Bitcoin, the article doesn't categorically state exactly when, he could prolly be a long time investor, but nonetheless, the news is good for adoption and makes Bitcoin more alluring to investors when prominent individuals or corporations join the network. Even as fiat currencies and traditional institutions/economy continually plunges due to inflation and effects of covid-19, Bitcoin is on the road to cross it's ath, which shows btc rising strength and efficacy as a reliable investment and reserve asset. See this excerpt, and what the billionaire has to say about fiat currencies:
Quote
The billionaire shared a video captured in “a Latin country” depicting banks throwing out garbage bags filled with paper money into a dumpster. He asserted that “paper money is worth nothing,” adding: “That is why it is always good to diversify our investment portfolio.”
From the above, the 166th richest individual in the world, believes fiat currencies are constantly devaluing and I agree with that, saving money in the bank/holding fiat now feels wrong to quite a lot of people, and I think this will affect the economy negatively; so what do you think will be the foreseeable effect on the economy if a lot of people, both the wealthy, middle class, poor and even companies choose to invest a larger chunk of their funds in Bitcoin and other assets (that aren't controlled by the government), rather than keeping their funds in the bank/traditional institutions?

4385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UEFA Nations League 2020/2021 Discussion Thread on: November 18, 2020, 12:50:25 PM

Ferran Torres is going to be one of the very best players in the world Smiley
Lol, Pep and every City fan will surely want that, on a more serious note, Ferran is good player, he played well in all City's UCL games thus far, even when he was played in an unfamiliar number 9 role, scoring in all the games, he is yet to replicate that form in the epl, but it's only a matter of time I'm sure. It's great to see Luiz Enrique put trust in him by starting him even in such a big game, and he truly delivered. Another city player, Rodri was also on the score sheet, pep will be happy, and hope his boys will put in that same level against spurs in the weekend.

Germany need to go back to the drawing board, I knew they'll lose to Spain, but definitely not with that scoreline, Spain dominated every aspect of the game, Low has work to do, and I'm sure big changes will be made in their next matches.
4386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats causing the re rise of BTC? on: November 18, 2020, 10:26:32 AM
Many users and even non-bitcoiners are also curious to know why Btc price is moving up and set to cross the ath of 20k usd, thing is I just hope it does not make them start investing cause of FOMO. People tend to forget Bitcoin has had a very good year, with all indication that it will prolly break the ath soon.

Starting from the pandemic that didn't quite affect btc, while traditional institutions plunged, to the btc halving and the numerous big news of companies investing in Bitcoin and others making it their reserve asset, this year was good for btc adoption and now the price is moving in tune with the kind of year it was for btc, which is a good one.
4387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lebanon to launch digital currency in face of economic and financial turmoil on: November 18, 2020, 09:18:01 AM
I don’t see the use for this.
I don't as well, sometimes I think this is just about competition for some countries (China v America for example), competition on the basis of which country is doing better with the blockchain technology, and which is using this CBDC to better their economy, etc; while for other countries, they are prolly following the CBDC trend to see how it'll affect their economy positively, I think by the end of 2021, quite a lot of countries will have their own CBDC, and covid-19 should be in it's last days by then, so we'll be able to access if this CBDC thing will help countries economically/financially.

Having said that, users should draw the line between CBDC and Bitcoin, as they are different, one is centralized, while the other is decentralized, without any third party and zero manipulations whatsoever. CBDC's should be discussed on it's own without Bitcoin being mentioned.
4388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Will List Frontier (FRONT) in the Innovation Zone on: November 18, 2020, 09:00:15 AM
Lol, that's the nature of crypto though, it will be pump once there is a news coming from Binance like this, I do hope that there are traders here who join the bandwagon early and made profit out of this pump.
That is the "nature" of altcoins, except for prolly a few of them (example: Ethereum). As an investor if you buy this altcoins, be ready to sell them when they pump cause they are more of pump and dump coins, and they should not be held for the long term, they follow the pattern of buying, then selling immediately they pump and take your ROI, if you want to invest in a project for future returns, then go for Bitcoin or ethereum.

Having said that, investors who are still interested in this front token now that it's dumped, should be pretty careful, most of this altcoins find it difficult to pump again, after they've dumped, so you could prolly be buying a coin that'll continue going down till it's zero, so invest wisely.
4389  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do I need to be in favor of the company I am advertising? on: November 17, 2020, 07:46:49 PM
Of course you can't talk about the company you're advertising in every post you make, except you're making spam posts; the only time you would prolly have something to say about the company is either in the ANN thread or maybe on the reputation board, if another user creates a thread about the company you advertise for, prolly accusing them of one thing or another, and mind you that in a case of the latter, you should only support the company if you have checked the accusations and you're very sure they aren't true.

Having said that, other than any of the above scenario, just discuss about bitcoin or any other topic that you come across; and in the first place, that's why you should be here.
4390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will central banks create their own digital currencies? on: November 17, 2020, 11:45:21 AM
I read an article in Cointelegrapf where Binance boss believes central bank digital currency could threaten Bitcoin.
What do you think, would it be a threat or could Bitcoin get a boost from it?
Imo, CBDC's aren't going to be a threat whatsoever to Bitcoin, I've said this a couple of times already, it's centralized, while btc is decentralized, CBDC's are going to be controlled and manipulated as well by central banks of it's country, but that scenario isn't possible with Bitcoin. CBDC's are created to focus on boosting the economy of it's country as well as for competition between different countries on which is doing better with the blockchain technology.

Having said that, Bitcoin isn't also going to get any "boost" from CBDC's, they are both different forms of digital currency and putting them in the same bracket for comparison, assessment or any other reason whatsoever is wrong.
4391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A crypto Scammer on the run on: November 17, 2020, 10:28:05 AM
Even if the scammer is apprehended by the Nigerian Police force, thing still remains that those who invested in the pinkcoin scam have lost their funds, I'm actually even surprised that the Nigerian Police are actually involved in this case of digital fraud; I just hope that there are less cases of fraud using digital currencies in Nigeria, as the Nigerian government could have no other choice but to impose regulations on Bitcoin and other digital currencies and looking closely at the rising numbers of crypto enthusiast in the 'Giant of Africa', that could be bad news for adoption.
4392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 15, 2020, 08:21:59 AM
How we move from this will determine whether we would defend the title or not.
You're correct, it's quite unfortunate that Liverpool have to cope with this number of injuries so early in the season, but it is what it is, and the only thing Jurgen Klopp can do now is to motivate the players available to perform to the best of their ability, I remember last season, City had so many injury issues and they were unable to cope with it and dropped far below Liverpool having to relinquish their title finally, let's see if that's what's going to happen to LFC, Leicester is a big test and an opportunity to make a statement, we'll see how that one pans out for Jurgen and his boys.
4393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The last time we saw 16K on Bitcoin price on: November 14, 2020, 10:28:26 PM
Personally I feel that anything other than a very short term investment with altcoins is highly risky. Most altcoins are very influenced and affected by Pump & Dump schemes and unless you are able to watch the market for your altcoin holdings nearly 24/7 you are likely to miss out on the highs and lows.
+1 to your points, I generally consider most altcoins to be only short term investments, i know there are some people who hold altcoins, but honestly I can only feel comfortable if I'm holding an altcoin like ethereum, and prolly a handful of others, the rest are more or less pump and dump coins, and will not hold their value for the long term. Bitcoin is different from all of them, that's why it's possible for it to rise and plunge and then rise again, Bitcoin is definitely bound to cross it's ath very soon, it's great for BTC holders to see it gain traction all over the world, and with the kind of adoption Bitcoin got this year alone, it's growth will continue non-stop.
4394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One year on the forum -encouragement- on: November 14, 2020, 09:54:20 PM
it's really awesome to read something like this, a lot of people new to this forum think that this forum is useless and they can't get anything out of
There is so much to learn from btt, people saying the forum is useless prolly didn't come to talk about btc or learn from the forum, if you're truly interested in btc, you'll appreciate the topics found on this forum and try to get some knowledge from them, so you can also be productive and contribute to discussions in general, quite a lot of people and I have found the forum to be useful in our bitcoin journey, but it's only for those who are really curious plus being interested to learn about btc.

Congratulations op, one year and all this is not quite easy, keep up the good work and gain more recognitions for your efforts, well done mate.
4395  Other / Politics & Society / Re: White House operating under the assumption of a second term for Trump. on: November 14, 2020, 10:05:23 AM
Until the court declares that there was a case of fraud in the election, I think Trump and his team needs to work with Bidens team and move towards a smooth transition, but that's not going to happen, cause according to Donald Trump, he won and there's not going be any transition. Having said that, if his team starts working with Biden's, then it's more like he has started to accept the reality that he lost the election, so that's exactly the reason why things will remain this way until there's a court decision on this issue.
4396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UEFA Nations League 2020/2021 Discussion Thread on: November 14, 2020, 09:46:27 AM
Belgium England will be a match to watch: bookmakers see Belgium winning at 2.40.
England are in very good form, with many players performing superbly for their club side and that will give Gareth Southgate many options to choose from. Belgium also equally have good players, the match is going to be evenly matched, and tbh, I really can't predict who's going to win the game, but I'll predict either a draw or England wins, I say so cause I feel England just have a slight edge, but nonetheless, it's going to be a really tough game.
i personally would cancel all these games now. there is simply too much risk that more and more players get infected with the corona virus .
This players also play for their club sides, so it's the same risk they are being exposed to, both when on club and national duty, it's just so unfortunate that we still have this virus affecting our football matches, hopefully things will be much better next year, heard vaccines are almost ready.
4397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Now the 20th Biggest Asset by Market Cap on: November 13, 2020, 02:46:03 PM
So what is your view on these guys? Do you believe that this increase can change the global economic structure and convince the traditional investors that Bitcoin is nit just a seasonal bubble?
As for changing the global economies which has plunged so much this year, Bitcoin can't change anything about that, mind you that the economy relies more on traditional institutions rather than bitcoin, which is dex and can't be controlled by any third party. Having said that, Bitcoin is obviously not a "seasonal bubble", anyone who thinks that way is prolly just being anti-bitcoin, or is ignorant of Bitcoins development since it was created.

Traditional investors choose their investments based on what suits them, Warren Buffet for example doesn't invest in Bitcoin, cause he doesn't consider it his kind of investment asset. The news is big for Bitcoin holders and firms that have adopted Bitcoin either as a reserve asset or an investment plan.
4398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: November 13, 2020, 10:01:04 AM
On November 21 I will watch the match Atletico vs Barcelona... Odds are almost the same - 2.7 and 2.6... I hope that Atletico can win this match and I will be able to win with them! I bet on winning Atletico!
The odds are so close cause it's quite difficult to pick one winner from this game, Barcelona usually win against Athletico, but the Barca of this season are not in the usual flying form we know them for, Athletico haven't been too great too, thing is this season, none of the big teams, both in Spain and England have really taken control in the league.

Imo, I'll call this match a draw, 1-1, we'll see though, but honestly I can't see either of this teams winning, they'll happily share the points between themselves.
4399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My journey from a default full member to achieved Senior member. on: November 12, 2020, 08:35:16 AM
Congratulations on your new senior member rank mate, it took quite a long time (you were a user even before the merit system was introduced), but imo, it really doesn't matter how long it takes, and you should not take it to be a disadvantage, except if you're only just desperate to rank up, but that aside, there is just so much knowledge at your finger tips on the forum. Bitcoin is dex, so the forum helps in immeasurable ways, such as protecting your funds, updating users on scams, wallets to use/not to use, etc.

Congratulations again, continue learning more about Bitcoin and with time you'll prolly rank up to Hero.
4400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to KittieFIGHT (KTY) old token holder on: November 11, 2020, 05:25:25 PM
So what actually will happen to old KTY token holders, does it mean the token is useless forever? Or KittieFIGHT team scammed the old token holders, let me understand this if you have any idea about KittieFIGHT development.
Thing is if the previous KTY token is currently useless, then I don't think users should be too interested in their new project or development cause it'll be more or less a pump and dump token just like the previous one. Going by your experience with this team, I find it somewhat difficult to trust their current project.

Having said that, users really shouldn't be holding this tokens for the long term, it's neither Bitcoin, or even ethereum, the team most times don't have any framework to keep the project and the coin moving forward, so the best practice is to sell it ASAP and make some ROI when you still can.
