441  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 10, 2014, 06:50:27 PM

Thanks for the link. I have not put my S1s on my p2pool yet because with my S2 on it they get high diff on the s1's. Now that I hear S2 is not currently efficient on p2pool I may swap and put my S1's on it with the new cgminer and put my S2 on reg pool.

I assume you void warranty when you upgrade cgminer this way Smiley

Is it possible to restore to default after this update by using the reset button on S1? or would I have to remove the updated cgminer manually?

you can revert back easily as you only rename the old one. you simply rename it back to go back to default. I don't think changing cgminer could void hardware warranty but you'll need to ask Bitmain about that.
If you have your s1's and the s2 on your node then use the diff setting as specified a couple of pages back.

essentially you add a /0+diff to the end of your miner address. for an s1 at around 200gh/s it's /0+230

Quote
If your running S1's set <share> to 0 ("0" defaults to lowest p2pool diff, currently 1677854.73)

And <pseudo_share> to 220.4 (optimized for 190GH/s)

<pseudo_share> is calculated as your hash rate in KH/s times 0.00000116

i.e. 190,000,000 * 0.00000116 = 220.4

Is the pseudo share diff setting Address+number ever really necessary other than for graphs?

This will cause the new wallet to never say it's in sync :/

Last wallet update has only nodes to the new chain, so no problem with the sync

The source code was updated to only connect to new wallet nodes but I don't think the binaries for Windows were updated. It was added shortly after the binaries were released.

I think the main source of the hashrate on the old chain may be coming from this pool:

Have messaged the admin but no response Sad

Finally got them to update. It looks like they were checking the old GIT page and thinking they were up-to-date until I told them of the new GIT page  Undecided

Who am Main in dual mode with voltmod?
What temperature device?

Not completely sure what your asking but if you are wondering if you can mine BTC and LTC (dual mode) with the voltmod the answer is NO. Do not even try...you will blow your miner.

our site is up and our monitors say the same.

I would check your DNS servers to make sure they are resolving correctly.

Then I'm not the only one confused! Smiley

I have last block on the 486xxx chain and connections to some of the nodes on the example conf so if I'm on the wrong chain they are too. That is different than the Altexplorer chain which has a 489xxx block.

From what you said I'm reading this as the 489 chain is old/wrong and the 486 chain is correct. Which makes Altexplorer on the wrong chain.

LOL, yea...the new chain was ahead of the old for a while but that changed since the last time I checked. This will cause the new wallet to never say it's in sync :/

Think this block explorer is the new chain:

...and this one the old:

Any way to verify if you're on the right chain? One of the block explorers is offline and the other is on a different chain.

I have 8 connections to my wallet half of which are from the list in the OP example conf and 7 of 8 are on version 1.2. So I'm reasonably confident I'm on the right chain but no way to know for sure.

I believe the correct chain is around block 489883 and the old one is around 486843.

Edit... hold on...double checked...looks like the old is 489xxx and new is 486xxx. Somehow the old chain is longer than the new one again Sad

Why is the 100M cheaper than the 75M by nearly $7000 again? Huh Huh

check the delivery time.

I thought your moto was not to take "long term" preorders, Jack?

Q3/Q4 seems possibily a long time from now..

Q3 or Q4?  So it could be December 31st, 2014 when it arrives potentially.   Cheesy

If you read carefully, we say end of Q3 , start of Q4.
Stop trolling.

What month(s) is that? October probably?

Guess it'll be an alternative to the 400 MH/s Titan, KNC will drop around the same time.

Trying to figure out what to buy...holding off on doing any pre-orders but that Titan at $6,995.00 looks nice if they can deliver. Haven't heard anything recently from flowertech.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed 5-Chip USB & Blade Miner Support/Tuning on: June 07, 2014, 09:08:41 AM
Here's a dumb question. When setting the difficulty, should it be based on the frequency of individual GridSeeds, or the total for a group of them?

For example if you have 10 GSDs that combined produce about 3.6 MH/s, do you set the difficulty based on 3.6 MH/s or 360 KH/s?

For the pools that allow you to set a difficulty, I've based it on the total for the rig, not the individual GSDs. Maybe I've been doing this wrong...

I dunno...don't think it matters much. I have run 21 Gridseeds as low as 50 and as high as 1028 difficulty for the group without much of a difference. Think rejects were a little lower at 512 vs 768 but did not spend too much time testing it out. I usually just let the pool auto adjust the diff to whatever it thinks is best. Too low and there is too much traffic/time wasted communicating between the pool and the miner that could be spent trying to solve blocks/shares. Too high and you could be wasting time trying to solve an old block/share.

I think the Gridseeds can handle high diff as long as you have enough of them. Others may have opposing opinions but this is my belief from mining with them for about 4-5 months.

Found a pool on the wrong chain:

http://162.243.63.239:8840/static/

It currently has one miner at about 400 Kh/s: CPUKNhdSWewRHUC36cYcRj533aVczX1ank

...but has gone over 1Mh/s at times.

Have messaged the admin.

looks like all the net hash is currently on one pool, all the other pools listed on the .org website seem to be down, I don't see how this is a good thing  Undecided

Cant be good when one pool gets 250mh/s dumped on it all at once

The Casinocoin p2pool is still going with at least 5 nodes. Hashrate is down to about 4 Mh/s though so we need more miners :/

Good to hear GoldSeal. I too am holding out for higher values. I have mined everything I have...that's only about 90k though :/

My Gridseed after a day of work give a lower speed.
After disconnecting and connecting the USB speed restored.
Very uncomfortable every day to restart.
Prompt solution to this problem.

Check the USB FIFO setting...search the thread for this. I am assuming you are running Windows as this only seems to be a problem there.

How could we improve the stability of difficulty? One day i have like 100MH at my pool, the other day 5MH.

As asics become more widespread, the diff will eventually stabilize.

It's these ASICs that are causing the 100+Mh/s jumps in pools. Just one miner can do that on their own. Have seen jumps from 100 to 200 back to 10 in the same day. Fortunately I think the diff algo is working fine in accommodating these jumps. When the 300+Mh/s asics are out you will see even more dramatic jumps. Hopefully the new diff algo will continue to work as it has. I think Casinocoin fixed up the diff algo "in the nick of time" Smiley

On a different note: I have noticed that people are still using and mining the old version Sad
Where would they be able to use it currently?!
How big is the other networks hashrate?

Hard to say. I think one of the p2pool nodes is still running the old version as I'm seeing blocks being solved in both chains. There may be other pools or solo miners.
