Yep! Check out the digistats thread for more info and support the project! We are about 30K shy of the funding target more info on the link above.

If the Bitcoin community is any indication, the interest should be huge.

It would be great to have all the data available from the network itself, to exchange trading, in dozens of charts.

Add: That's for starters. Check out the API's!

This is a priority pending project IMHO.

I think this would be an awesome project to do. I am not very knowledgeable on front end development etc. so I would have to use something like insight which would make it very similar to digiexplorer. The only thing I could then add on top of digiexplorer is what I have already mentioned; which would be network analysis, a stats page like blockchain.info has for bitcoin and then extend that by adding an average price chart over multiple exchanges. Of course within this there is a lot of room for adding extra charts and visualizations (like digimap) and it could evolve into the place to get your digi-info. I've already thought of a potential name: DigiNetwork? Hahaha

I don't know if this is true or not but digiexplorer seems dead and isn't being fully developed so I would be starting a similar resource with the added features I've mentioned (btw if the digiexplorer dev is reading this I would much prefer to collaborate with you then take on the challenge by myself so drop me a PM if your interested).

This is nice.

Hey,

I personally would love to have a chat with you. I've actually been working on implementing alot of these ideas separately but combining it all into a single resource would be awesome. I'm not a python guy but I do have a few questions I would like to ask about a python project I have in mind. Timezones can be a bit annoying but if you want to catch me or jared the best way is usually to idle on IRC.

Digiexplorer has a JSON API thats useful for pulling in some basic transaction/network stats.

Also it seems that digiexplorer got an update. No more "Bitcoin Block Explorer" and it looks like you can check your balance in DGB or USD now.

Saw your PM, sent one back!

I will be thinking of ideas in the following week and post a summary of what I can do on the official digibyte forum late next week. I already have a few in mind and I just have to add that some of the input I've gotten here has been really positive which is nice to see!

I was wondering, and I am asking this principally to the people involved with the DGB dev team, if there is a need for an advanced scientific python developer? I doubt my skills are tuned towards most of what you guys do (I'm not a programmer I am a theoretical physicist) but I would like to help out over summer if I can, and get more involved with the community.

I've sent out a PM to Jared on the official digiforum but he hasn't responded yet (completely understandable, he's a busy guy).

If someone related to the DGB team can send me a PM either on here or on the digiforum (user: alaniz) with more info/suggestions I'd be delighted to check out whether I can help with any of the things you guys are currently working on.
good on ya bitkapp, that's the spirit!  Smiley

Loads of Raspberry Pi digibyte applications would probably require your kind of skills!

Haha true! NFC + Raspberry Pi = DigiByte payment station? I think hardware applications are probably more suited when digibyte becomes slightly more established. I was referring more to data analytics, statistical analysis, basically anything mathsy which would be useful to apply to DGB. Again I have to stress I am in no way a crypto expert or anything of the sort but I am assuming that an advanced mathematician who knows how to program in python and is familiar with network analysis (not computer networks specifically but networks in general i.e. PageRank etc.), statistics etc. could potentially come in handy?

Again I am just putting this out there and I have a few other projects that I could work on over summer so if you guys are not interested that's fine. On the other hand if you guys think I could be useful in any way PM me and we can talk details.

P.S. Just a very quick thought I had; maybe an index showing some measure of how "strong" the digibyte network is could potentially be useful to future adopters/merchants and would quantify how good the DGB network actually is. Also identifying weak nodes/links within the network could help foresee any future problems?

What do you think about something like this for DGB?

With this of course.

That's something on the line of what I'm thinking. Of course we already have DigiExplorer for blockchain info although I can already see some improvements/upgrades that could be done to DigiExplorer. I think network analysis could be something that people might be interested in. It would be awesome to be able to couple the information from the blockchain with esotericizm DigiMap idea to create a possible PageRank (or a modified PageRank) of all the nodes on the DGB network. If we could then create a map of all the nodes (i.e. DigiMap) and interconnections and put that along side some network analytics that could be something people within the community might be interested in and would be a piece of software that no other Crypto has (as far as I know). It would also quantify the robustness of the network and could attract more people and merchants. A robust network = a reliable network and that could be something merchants value.

As soon as I am done with my exams I will be posting a more concrete set of ideas on the DigiByte official forum and if there is genuine interest for this type of thing within the community I will start cracking away!

If you guys can tell me whether the DGB team and the community at large might be interested in this I can start gauging whether something like this is worth doing. Tell me what you think!

1. DigiByte no doubt! Fast transactions, great for micropayments (1000x BTC supply) and awesome dev team+community as has already been said. Check out the video link on my sig to learn more!

Today I’d also like to talk about the importance of the signature line. Wink

What you have in your signature line appears below every message you’ve ever posted on BCT. That’s right, every message you’ve ever posted, updated, with the most recent changes you’ve made.

That means that if you’re like me, and you’ve posted before in the DOGE thread, or the Vertcoin thread, or the Groestlcoin thread, or the Myriadcoin thread, or the Diamondcoin thread, or –  I could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea – the thread of your choice, your latest signature will show up.

That means that any Crypto newcomer who happens to show up at SCR or MEC (because his or her friend or family member sent them there) and does some basic research and background reading WILL have a VERY GOOD CHANCE of SEEING DIGIBYTE since I’ve got it in my sig line.

IF YOU LINK THE VIDEO, ALL THE BETTER!

Now that's some first class exposure to write home about!

Done!

The iOS wallet issue seems to have been resolved now. I think it could have been a fault with my phone but the QR code scanner seems to be working now!

With regards to all the comments about the mobile wallets. The new iOS wallet works fine i.e. it opens up and processes transactions the only problem is that I can't seem to open up the QR code scanner. I've got an iPhone 5c so maybe you guys could have a look at that? I don't know if its just my phone but feedback is key to any app's success so hope it helps!

I just want to say that I am loving the digibyte vibe and have already redirected my miners to mine DGB. I think the team has some very good ideas and hopefully, as some people have already mentioned, the PR/marketing surrounding digibyte will be improved. I think one of the most important goals for the developers is to aggregate a list of merchants which accept DGB, but looking at the website it seems to be a work in progress.

I did read something on the digibyte forum about a mining consortium and a value index (an index to show the average break even point for miners) to try and raise the price of the coin. I think its a good idea but could lead to a pump and dump so be careful. (If this is going to happen I can help on the development side).

Anyways I'll be monitoring the progress here so good luck to the DGB team!

P.S. I am a well versed python programmer and I might get involved on the development side of things this summer if i can find the time!

BitKapp is releasing an open source currency to bitcoin converter desktop application written in python. It is free to use and distribute in accordance to its GNU License.

Simple Dollar, Pound and Euro to bitcoin converter. Supports those three currencies and works simply by inputting the amount in the respective currency you need to know the bitcoin value of, and prints the bitcoin value just below. See the screenshots below.

456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Socket IO in Python Question About multiple currencies on: July 11, 2013, 10:41:13 AM
Im using this script, https://github.com/molecular/traidor/blob/master/socketio.py , to connect to the socket io streaming api for mt gox. I was wondering as to how i can also listen to the channels for other currencies, ive tried various things like adding ?Currency=EUR in the url etc. but nothing has worked any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah hopefully, I mean I know this program isnt much but I am coming up with some more apps and it would be nice to get some recognition. Maybe you can pledge for it as well bitcoinstarter Tongue
458  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: source data for mtgox depth on: July 10, 2013, 03:34:19 PM
I have a similar problem. I want to create a very simple app that displays the 20 most recent bids and asks im trying to fiddle about with the websocket API mtgox has but its a hassle as i know very little websocket programming. I was also wondering whether theres some neat way of only requesting the x most recent bids and asks or something of the sort. I am using python for this project. Thanks in advance for any help!
459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Mt Gox Websocket Streaming API and Depth Question[PYTHON][ANSWERED] on: July 10, 2013, 03:01:04 PM
Ok so I am working on a application that displays a recent self updating orderbook of the first 20 or so (not decided) bids and asks. I am doing this for fun and as a learning experience i know it would be easily accessible through clark moody and the sort. The question is, its easy to get the full depth by using http://data.mtgox.com/api/2/BTCUSD/money/depth. However ive been looking around and most people say to get it to update you should use the websocket API. I am not familiar with this type of programming (my programming knowledge is quite limited anyways) and i've found this script which gives me the output of the websocket, however I would like this output to be appended into an array and i cant get that to happen. So the question is how can i handle or define a variable which consitutes the output of the websocket api at mtgox.

THIS HAS BEEN ANSWERED THANKS ANYWAYS!

Code:
import threading
import websocket
import json

class mtgox( threading.Thread ):

    def run( self ):
        websocket.enableTrace( True )
        url = 'ws://websocket.mtgox.com/mtgox?Currency=USD'
        self.socket = websocket.WebSocketApp( url, on_open = self.on_open )
self.socket.run_forever( )

    def subscribe( self, channel ):
        output = { 'op': 'mtgox.subscribe', 'type': channel }
        output = json.dumps( output )
        self.socket.send( output )

    def on_open( self, socket ):
        self.subscribe( 'depth' )
#self.subscribe( 'lag' )
        #self.subscribe( 'ticker' )
        #self.subscribe( 'trades' )

if __name__ == '__main__':
    mtgox = mtgox( )
    mtgox.start( )

Buenas noticias!
