On my rig with 4 x 7950 Vapor-x when mining scrypt power consumption from wall is around 980W. Cards are on stock voltage in range from 1.06 to 1.12. They run stable at 630 KH/s.

J was a much more talented programmer and was a linux user. Satoshi's coding style is not the same and he was a window's user.
Satoshi probably prefers some kind of unix (more likely Net/OpenBSD than Linux), but chose the 'wrong' OS and a different coding style to mislead everyone. This is probably true... When I think about that I would do the same thing.

He could have 100,000 bitcoins in his wallet and he will have trouble converting them to anything other than bitcoin because the NSA and every other intelligence agency is on him like fly on shit.
The second he tries to cash out an account at Mt.Gox , CampBX or any exchange for that matter it'll get seized. They would most likely let him sell his bitcoins but not withdraw, so at the end of the day he'll have neither bitcoins or dollars (or Euros, Yen, whatever).
He's going to have to find lawyers that accept bitcoin, food stores that accept bitcoin, etc... because he most likely won't be able to convert it to anything else. Technically doable... but boy he has his work cut out for him.
I do not understand why are we obligated to trade on online exchanges. For example if anyone come in my country to visit and wants to exchange bitcoins for cash he does not need to do that on online exchange, there are people that are willing to change crypto currency in fiat with reasonable fee and that is even faster than banks. My friend waited 2 weeks to get his money from mtgox. I am not saying that online exchanges are bad but they are slowed down or even restricted by banks. Whole point of crypto currency is to avoid banks and governments because I want control over my assets and I will not pay taxes 3 times for one thing.

I have 4 x 7950 and when they mine bitcoin consumption from wall is around 850-900W depending on clocks, but when I tried scrypt on semi aggresive settings it pulled over 1000W from wall. So be careful when mining scrypt as it drains more power.

Yes that is correct. Try it out.

Well as for linux part there are number of distros that work well, only all-in-one solution is BAMT but I do not like it as it is live version. I use CentOS on 16GB usb flashdisk with minimal install options. From there you need to download all dependencies drivers and stuff install then configure it. If you have some linux knowledge and experience it should not be problem to make it work.

Well you need to try out with different types of extenders. Every motherboard has its own settings. Also I recommend you to try to set up a Linux miner as it is far more stable and easier to work with. I only use windows for testing max clocks and bios flashing.

Do not hate without reason. They are in pickle situation now as you all know what is happening to them in US. Also many people withdraw funds from them and they can not process all transactions. There is no need to panic just waiting game because banks are slowing them.

I am a fan of Sapphire especially Vapor-x series it has great cooling and excellent chips on itself. So my vote goes to Sapphire.

No problem I am glad to help. If you want to be sure and want to be prepared to mine scrypt also then you better go for some good and powerful power supply. I don`t know what you can find but check out Corsair, Seasonic and FSP also I would recommend at least Bronze Certified if not Gold.

It should work fine just check your PSU if it can manage with 7970.

Interesting question, I think there are too many altcoins some of theme are usable most of them not. As for mining them with ASIC or FPGA I don`t know is it possible especially those that are scrypt based.

Blockchain all the way, but I strongly recommend some type of backup. Best option is some usb flash disk or some other media storage device. Also I read on several places that people store theirs backup wallets on computers that are not connected to internet.

Thanks for settings I also can agree that I=20 works best for 7950, but for clock speeds you need to fine tune it for every single card, this is also a must when tweaking thread-concurrency. I would like to point out that is realy recommended to set your vddc as low as you can and the try to set up clocks. After that temps are going to be lower and your fan does not need 100%, I keep mine in range from 60%-85%.

Thanks for info I was looking where to mine LTC and for sure I am going to be very careful when choosing pool, but then again on all other currencies we must wisely choose the right pool.

Hello all, nice to be here

I have a feeling there will be more of these sites in the future. The ones listed look pretty good.
Of course there would be more gambling sites that accept bitcoin or some other crypto currency. It is much easier to implement payment system for crypto currencies.

Prices are sky high... But at the end these devices will hold complete network. Just watch the chart now and around end of the year and you`ll see then what I am talking now.
