441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: February 05, 2024, 06:05:59 AM
I dispute the fact about what you said about gamblers who loses bets having less interest or quitting because I've seen most gamblers losing conspicuously but rather calling it a quit they continue with the believe that they will win on several attempts and this mostly happens to people that have won before as they are always the people that believes they can win again no matter how many times they have lost but someone who is new into gambling and tried on several occasions and couldn't win can easily lose interest and maybe call it a quit because he hasn't tasted the sweet side of gambling. Yeah no body that puts sugar in their mouth and complain it is bitter so someone who plays and wins will always talk good about gambling unlike someone that have been failing on several attempts.

Well explained. People who have gambled for a long time and have won severally will never take a break from gambling even when it is obvious to them that it will be of interest to them if they stop. But then, the feeling that I will win soon and so I don`t have to stop because if I stop how will I win will make them stick to gambling. They only try to change strategy and the kind of options they play and not quit the game.

I have a friend who will always cry after losing and then make a series of vows that he will never visit a gambling house because gambling has wrecked his life but the moment he has money you will see him gambling again and when you remind him of the things he has said, he will tell you that he will win this time because he has changed his strategy.

As you have noted, it is easier for new gamblers to quit but then this is not always the reality. Some individuals are too desperate naturally. When such a person goes into gambling they will continue gambling and rather than stop, they will always source for a means to win. This gambler sees positivity in gambling and sooner they become addicted and that becomes the end of the journey.
442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: February 05, 2024, 05:50:06 AM
I don't agree with this saying, the more time you spend gambling, the more you will lose and vice versa, then what about people who play for a short time and have spent a lot of money, it all depends on how big a bet we place, it's not time that determines but the bet. Personally, I can't afford to play online gambling for a long time, but it's different from playing physical gambling, it certainly has art

I agree with your opinion. Time doesn`t guarantee profit and loss. You can spend more time and still be winning and you can spend less time but have lost so much money. The difference is staking power and luck. When your stake is too high, you tend to lose more when it is not your day but when you are lucky you continue profiting and then stay longer if you do not control the urge.

I have been in a casino house for 6hours gambling and making money. I was there people came in and left and then I noticed a man who didn`t stay up to an hour but had lost millions compared to me who had been there a long time. So, the problem doesn`t lie in how long we are gambling but the ability to take a pause when it is necessary and control our stake.

I am into sports betting and I gamble online. It takes me only 2 hours to analyze and place my bet and that is all for that day. I do this only on Saturdays and Sundays because those are the only days I gamble.
443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: February 05, 2024, 05:31:37 AM
The most dangerous thing is that you are obsessed with winning and when you chase it you end up spending a lot of money. We can't blame it because everyone's emotional level is different and if a gambler finds it difficult to suppress it then he will only lose more money. There is a need to anticipate this with the right allocation of funds and I agree with you. There is no need to rush when gambling and if it gets too deep it will be difficult to change.

You're right, being obsessed with winning and chasing your losses is too dangerous. If you are always like this, you will easily run out of money and you will quickly become addicted to gambling. You will not only have financial problems if you are addicted to gambling, there are many negative effects of gambling and we will suffer from it if we abuse it, so let's avoid getting to this point.

Chasing losses is the genesis of revenge gambling and revenge gambling precedes compulsive gambling. All the problems associated with gambling are caused by trying to recoup our losses which I know is not bad. There is a cold war between the gamblers and the bookies. Both parties want to gain. When you are winning, the bookies are not happy and when you are losing, you are not happy. Since we all want to win and make money, it becomes normal to try to win. After all, that is why we are gambling.

But then, whether we try to recoup our losses or not, we should always stick to a strategy that can help us regain the loss in the long run. We don`t have to fall for the thought of let me try again, maybe this time I will win. It is this mindset of recovering immediately that has ruined the life of many not only in terms of their finance but it has strained their relationship and led them to substance abuse problems, depression and even anxiety.
444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The scam of FAKE fixed matches on: February 05, 2024, 05:06:25 AM
In my opinion the best way to avoid being scammed is to avoid fixed matches. Don't try being clever to take advantage of a scam (the hypothetical fixed game itself), because you might be the one who will end being scammed after all...

This is a good advice. As it is said, a word is enough for the wise. Most gamblers out of frustration go online to search for sites that can offer fixed matches without knowing that they are giving themselves out to be easily scammed. Searching for fixed matches creates more problems for the gambler than it solves.  I have always advised gamblers around me that there is nothing like a fixed match. Even though it exists, you cannot have access to it. Fixed matches are not open to the public because of the sanctions the team or players involved get. It is done with utmost secrecy and with few persons. Sometimes, when a particular match is widely staked by so many gamblers and it won, the game is been investigated to know if it was fixed.

So, when we look at the check involved in match-fixing, it becomes clearer why we shouldn`t hope to get fixed matches. We don`t need fixed matches to make money through gambling. What matters is strategy. Even though no strategy can guarantee 100% winning with a good strategy losses can be controlled. Only ignorance and greed will make a gambler feel that he will win all the time because the nature of gambling speaks volumes already on the impossible of always winning.
445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you make gambling a profession - a full time job on: February 05, 2024, 04:47:36 AM
I know some gamblers who are professional and take the gambling path as their carrier and gambling with discipline. Even I saw them losing big amount of money but as they have their own strategies, they also recover their money & even able to make more money afterwards. Honestly its true but I still don't know how they do such thing at all. But yeah, they only do such games which can be win by strategies and technics and they always games like slot machines which is uncertain. Well for me, i don't have any intention for become professional gambler cause gambling is uncertain thing, There's no assurance of income. Rather I would like to enjoy gambling and consider it as the source of entertainment

I don`t think the so-called professionals you know rely 100% on gambling. To me, a professional gambler is someone who takes gambling as his main source of income. You can do in-depth research about these gamblers and you will find out that they have investments all over the place and they just decide to gamble to get satisfaction and not because they need the winnings for anything. Yes, we all want to win and they also play to win. Such people record more winnings due to the few selections or single picks they gamble on.

Most bookies have a way of discouraging gamblers who win all the time and this is done by reducing the odd accrue to games for a particular gambler. I have a friend who was into rollover and he completed his rollover twice consecutively. After this success, he noticed that he was prevented from accessing some bet options and also odds were reduced compared to that of other users using the same bookies. So, the bookies want to always gain and they are not happy when you win them. The bookies will do anything possible to prevent anyone from becoming a professional except you are losing lol.
446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gamblers do retired betting gambles on: February 05, 2024, 04:23:19 AM
That means it depends on each gambler because if a gambler can win a lot of money from gambling, they can choose to retire from gambling and enjoy the money and use it to open a business that can provide passive income for them. But not many can get something like that because most of them will lose their money and many will end up bankrupt. They can't retire from gambling but they can stop gambling even though they haven't been able to make a lot of money. They stop gambling because of the impact of becoming addicted to gambling if they continue their gambling activities so stopping gambling would be the best way.

I don`t think that there is any amount of winning that can propel a gambler to stop gambling. The more you win, the more you want to continue playing to win even more. This is common among gamblers. Even when people lose continuously they continue gambling so how much more when they are winning? They will continue.

Many who won millions in gambling usually set up businesses as you have mentioned but that didn`t stop them from gambling. Gambling has been made in such a way that you can lie on your bed and gamble and so this ease of assessment has also made it difficult for people to stop gambling. I can make a pronouncement that I will not gamble again but then it takes very little thing to take me back to gambling especially when I remember the good old days.

I don`t advocate that people should stop gambling or retire at a certain age because the reason we gamble differs from individual to individual regardless of age. Some have fun through it, Some try to make mega money through it, and others use it even as a coping mechanism. So, if the old person is gambling for a justified reason we can only hope he gambles responsibly and controls his emotions because at that age they are easily prone to high blood pressure and his inability to control and guide his losses might result in that.
447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gamblers do retired betting gambles on: February 05, 2024, 03:34:15 AM
Wise people would make sure they have a financially stable old age for which they will work very hard when they are young and keep saving money or creating assets for their future so that they don't need to worry about finances when they grow old. Such people would have no issues with whatever they want to do because they will have funds available when they are retired and they can use that money to do anything that gives them pleasure.

People who don't save money when they can or do anything for their future but instead take loans and have a lot of debt by the time they need to retire will surely have a hard time when they are old because they can't work the same way when you are old which is why it's essential to make your young days work.

Gambling is a passion, and as long as you do it correctly, you should keep doing it; age is irrelevant as long as you enjoy it and know what you're doing. Most people believe that only those with unstable finances gamble, which is wrong; no one gambles more than wealthy individuals.

Personally, I gamble for fun, not because my finances or life depend on it, therefore I see no reason why I shouldn't play till I'm elderly as long as I have access to it. Anyone who relies on gambling, whether young or elderly, is making a big mistake.
448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 05, 2024, 03:19:34 AM
Liverpool had difficulty developing their game against Arsenal, Liverpool only goal in this match came from Gabriel Magalhaes' own goal in the 45th minute. Alisson Becker fatal blunder when he failed to clear the ball brought disaster for Liverpool, Gabriel Martinelli took advantage of the moment to put Arsenal back in front 2-1, Leandro Trossard increased Arsenal victory in the 92nd minute.

This defeat made Liverpool position unsafe, Manchester City, who had only played 21 games, was in position to shift Liverpool position at the top of the standings. Guardiola will certainly not waste this opportunity to bring Manchester City to victory in the remaining two matches. An additional six points will take Manchester City to the top of the standings with 52 points, one point ahead of Liverpool who have 51 points.

I have no idea why they performed so terribly after their amazing game against Chelsea a few days ago; I expected Liverpool to put up a fight and most likely win. After that early goal, the entire team became a shadow of itself; they were no longer in the game, and they were bullied throughout. It's good to see Arsenal winning and competing again.
449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Viewpoint of a fan gambling on: February 04, 2024, 10:36:26 AM
If I see my favorite team in their worse condition and I see it as an opportunity to make some good cash off it trust me I will utilize such opportunity and it still doesn't make me any less of a fan to such team it's just that I need to utilize an opportunity which I didn't fail to at the point when the opportunity did avail it self to me.

How do you feel when your team wins even if they are in their worst condition? Happy that your team won or sad that you lost? This can leave a gambler in a state of dilemma where something that is supposed to bring happiness is creating ill feelings. I have been in this position where I placed a bet against my team because at that time my team was on a bad run due to injuries and the team they were up against was a team on a winning streak and even the league table toppers. My team won that match regardless of the bad run and and wasn`t happy because I staked against them. It can be difficult to objectively support your team when you have a financial incentive for them to lose.

Humans are naturally driven by emotions and betting against your team can negatively intensify emotions. If you have staked against your team, you may find yourself hoping for their failure or feeling conflicted about their success. This will take away the enjoyment of watching and supporting your team.

450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 03, 2024, 11:32:18 PM
Investment is different from gambling. Investment involves allocating money with the expectation of generating income over time. Investment involves the purchase of assets like stocks, bonds, and real estate to achieve long-term growth. With proper market analysis and information, investment can be reliable but then there is no reliability in gambling.

At every point in time, you can not guarantee the outcome of gambling and so there is no gain investing in gambling. Even with in-depth research, the outcome of gambling can not be known. This is because gambling decisions are driven by luck and not informed analysis. When we look at the Ponzi scheme it is a fraudulent investment but the earlier investors are paid to attract other investors and then it closes enriching the schemer.

Even though it is difficult to win in gambling, it is not fraudulent because when you wager and win you get paid, unlike a Ponzi scheme where after putting in the money you end up not getting value for your money.

451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 03, 2024, 10:38:18 PM
Giving is a natural thing and it is so easy for a giver to become a generous gambler. People who share their winnings with friends and relatives are givers by nature and that is why they find it obligatory giving whenever they win regardless of how much they have lost. I have seen friends quarrel and avoid friends because they got a win from gambling. I have seen friends only spending on those friends who also engage in betting and neglecting those friends who are not in the gambling line. Of a true, winning in gambling can unravel the nature of a gambler.

I have a very close friend who won $1500 from sports betting and then gave me $10. When I inquired about why he gave me money, he lied that he got little winning of $50 and so decided to share with me. I was happy with such a mindset but then, when I went to the betting shop where he usually gambles, I was told he got a winning of $1500. When I asked him, he accepted but I got angry not because he gave me $10 but because he lied. He owes me nothing so there was no need for him lying. I have got also another friend who will always disclose his winnings to me and then give me 10% of the winning. So, people behave differently when they win.

In my case, I am a generous gambler. I don`t play offline where people can easily know when I win but even though I gamble online I have always told my friends about my winnings and we celebrate together. I give cash from the win and also sponsor hangouts. I believe that the essence of making money is to have fun but then I cannot have fun alone except with friends and family. So, the joy of winning is making everyone winning by sharing with them. I can also recount the days I gamble offline and win. I share fun randomly with the people present in the betting shop from the bet manager, staff and to my fellow gamblers.
452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: February 03, 2024, 08:45:01 PM
VPN can give the protection and make you access online gambling sites even when it is illegal and prohibited in your country. VPN does this by masking your real IP address and making it appear as if you are accessing the internet from another country where gambling is legal. By connecting to a VPN server in a country where online gambling is allowed, you can bypass these restrictions and access gambling websites.

However, it is good to respect the laws of your country regarding gambling as using VPN to engage in gambling activities can attract punishment if caught because sometimes your anonymity might not be guaranteed.
453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: February 02, 2024, 01:22:19 AM
I agree with you.

I think financial education and understanding the value of money is what makes the difference that counts. We're in the 21st century, women are educated on financial and gambling issues just like men. The rest is just random, so in my humble opinion gender doesn't condition anything.

Agree with this point. The gender has little on who would make a better gambler later on.
Proper financial education helps one understand/know the value of money. Both men and women are now educated on such topics and in as much women are now entering more boldly, the gambling scene, I don’t see women being a more better gambler than men.
It majorly depends on the individual in particular and not really the gender of the person. The gender has little to nothing to do with how a person manages money well and how much of a better gambler the person is.

I want to join voice in laying credence to the fact that the gender of a gambler does not determine the winning rate but then the sweetness and tears in gambling are mostly faced by males. The reason is simple. Statistically, gambling is mostly engaged by male folks. However, this gap is narrowing.

Let me add that, personal observation shows that men and women tend to have different preferences when it comes to gambling. Men are likely to engage in games of skills like Poker and Sports betting while women are drawn to games of chance like Bingo. However, these preferences don`t change the risk and uncertainty in gambling. So, whether male or female the probability of winning or losing is the same.
454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to stop on: February 02, 2024, 12:54:33 AM
But how can you stop when you start feeling like you can’t do without gambling? At that point i think it is too late because the person is already addicted to gambling.

Even at that level, it is never too late. The only thing that can not be corrected is death. Though it will be difficult to come out from the addiction. However, with certain practices the gambler can gain control. I recommend the following practices:

- Accept that the addiction is a problem
- Seek professional help
- Join support groups
- Develop alternate activities to create distractions
- Pause gambling
455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: February 02, 2024, 12:41:07 AM
The loan money is not the correct source for the gambling game, the gambler should allot the separate source of the income from the salary like 10-30% of their salary to their own games in the gambling site.

Only an addicted gambler can take a loan to gamble because he is moved by feelings and not his brain. When a gambler uses a loan to gamble he is risking funds that are not his. Whether he loses or not, he will have to pay the original loan amount and the interest accrued to the loan which is a double jeopardy and can exacerbate his financial burden. Using a loan to gamble is even a reflection of poor financial decision-making.

In my opinion, 10-30% of a gambler`s income is still high. 1-5% is preferable and that should be after covering expenses, savings and other important financial commitments. This will help to guide against excessive loss that can be detrimental to the gambler.
456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: February 02, 2024, 12:08:48 AM
gambling is just entertainment and should not be used as a job for gamblers out there.

True. The unpredictable nature of gambling makes it difficult for anyone to rely on gambling as a source of income. Gambling is risky to try to make a living. Many gamblers record significant losses along with their wins and this can be emotionally and financially challenging. Thus, there is a need to get a stable income. Considering that gambling will never offer benefits like health insurance, retirement plans and paid time off should discourage anyone hoping to make gambling a job.
457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: February 01, 2024, 11:49:53 PM
So, let's share our worst gambling experiences, have you ever hated yourself so much due to lack of winnings in gambling? To what extent, and how did it end?

This is an experience I don`t like to share because I hated myself for being so irrational. I have had so many bitter experiences about gambling but the most pathetic I will share. This happened six years ago when I graduated from the university. As a young and vibrant guy with big dreams and plans for the future. I had always saved to establish a website where I could render academic-related services like selling e-books, proofreading articles online and then even writing academic papers devoid of plagiarism.

I have always been a sports lover and so when a friend told me about sports betting I felt it was an easy way to get the money remaining to establish my website. I ignorantly thought sports betting was about saying Team A will win and they must surely win because they are the stronger team without knowing that the outcome of a game is determined by different factors. I placed a multi-bet and had a cut one. To me, it was close and I was so confident that I would win my second bet. It was a story of cut one (lose), lose, lose, lose, lose, lose, lose, lose, lose lol until I lost $1500. I blamed my friend for the loss because he introduced me to gambling.
458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: February 01, 2024, 11:26:52 PM
It’s pretty simple. When one wins a good sum of money, it’s solely due to his skills and prowess in gambling but when there is a loss or series of losses, it’s “gambling” that’s the cause of it. Very quick to claim all the glory when the outcome is positively in your favor and quicker to absolve oneself of any fault or responsibility when the outcome isn’t what was hoped for and turns out negative.

This is the human nature. Humans are so good at blaming their misfortune on a factor but tend to give accolades to themselves for fortunes. This is not different in gambling. When a gambler wins he is happy and then channels the winning to self-effort and when he is on a losing trek he tends to transfer blame to gambling.

In my opinion, such a gambler is immature. It is high time people understand that gambling is like a mountain. It is always there and it is you who go to the mountain because mountains don`t move. Thus, whatever happens to a gambler should solely be blamed on the gambler and not gambling. If you have self-control, you will not have a problem gambling but when you lack control you will have problem gambling. So, this is about the gambler and not the gambling. Apportioning blame has never solved a problem. So, instead of blaming your misfortune on gambling gamble wisely.
459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: February 01, 2024, 11:09:15 PM
I also agree that sports betting is lot better than average slots game because you follow games, you watch matches, you recognize players, so you can much easily win money through it. Regular football watcher as example, would definitely be maximizing profit through sports betting. But some people just love casino games. Slots, dice whatever. Some people enjoy them more. That's their choice so hard to convince them to try sports betting instead.

Gambling is gambling regardless of the form it takes. In sports betting, we lose and we win and this is the same with the slot game but then a person can prefer one over the other and that is why you will always see a gambler no matter the nature of the gambling. What matters is your ability to understand the game and then plan on how to win.

I have a friend that we both go out to watch football but then he prefers gambling on lotto than on football. This tells you that it is a matter of preference and saying sports betting is better than average slot game is immaterial because we are all open to one reality which is that gambling is a game of luck regardless of the form of the game.

"The fastest way to ruin someone's life is to let him learn to gamble."

Haha! This must have emanated from a gambler whose life was ruined by gambling. I have a friend who will always say that the hardest thing to do is to predict and win. He will always joke saying that whatever a gambler predicts will not play.

If you predict right, the outcome will go left lol and even if you predict that all the players will wear jerseys, one of the players will wear a singlet to the pitch lol.
