441  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is it possible to realistically break even mining anymore? on: August 13, 2013, 01:33:45 AM

If we are going to be smoking weed and imagining things... "I have a litecoin miner that paid for itself in 144 hours".

lol if you pick the right altcoin you can make your rig costs back very quickly

OP's scenario makes a lot of sense. Any chance anyone in China will get above 50% in the next few months or so?

Lets say they produce 50 wafers per day for a full month non-stop. Where would that put us in PH/s with the size of the Avalon chips?

And on the opposite side Lets say that all the others, KNCminer and so on do deliver and lets round it up to 3 PH/s to KNCminer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=261669.0) plus whatever estimates you got for the other guys.

Any numbers?

please argue if I missed anything.
Discuss, would be preferred =)

kyle fuck all these freaks on here. Nothing but a bunch of weirdos. Weirdos that send me unpaid pizzas, stalk me, take pictures of my house, send empty boxes, etc.

Quoting for posterity.  I have a feeling it will get worse if you continue to scam.
I think its going to get worse until he repays his debt =D

Personally I believe the best option is to go in strong. If you're serious then spend big, rack up a few avalons, make some coins then sell them off, people pay a lot for them. You'll get what you paid for your avalons back and you've got yourself a little bitcoin nest egg for your trouble.

"If buying one unprofitable miner isn't appealing to you, buy a lot of unprofitable miners!  And then hope you can manage a net profit by selling them off to someone else who can't do the math!"

I did this selling block erupters on ebay, just so I could keep one to hobby mine for free =D
447  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: August 12, 2013, 01:57:46 PM
There are some pretty big up front costs involved. It's not like you scrape up pocket change and have custom chips made up. So they could either have gone the route they went (develop chips and sell devices to end users) or go the ASICminer route, raise capital from a small group of investors, develop those same chips and hold your hashing power tight to your chest.

I'm glad that BFL took the route they took. Otherwise we'd have a completely different looking ecosystem, twin towers of AM and BFL, with the rest of the world trying to keep up using GPUs. Well, we'd have all of 1500 Avalon machines to fight over, or be afforded such great deals as friedcats 2BTC 330 MH device. Which, even after its latest price it, is still twice as much per hash as butterfly's offerings. Yes, you can get it sooner. But every day BFL wittles away at that.
the 330mh device is like .39 now btc and you know that even 2btc buyers were at least getting a product.

Where are the jalepenos?
448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your questions for a miner on: August 12, 2013, 01:26:32 PM
If you could ask a miner 3 questions, what would it be?

David
1) solo mining or pool mining

Lol....seriously??

lol.... are you seriously using GPU's to mine bitcoin?

Yup, seriously. I have a buddy doing PPLNS on btcguild with 8 BE Blades. I think he should be doing it solo but he doesnt want to, so I thought I'd ask the miner.

What about other Android wallets that are derived from Schildbach's code, such as Litecoin-Qt and Feathercoin-Qt??? I assume they have the same vulnerability. Any plans to update those?
no BTC no care.

don't they call Feather Coin "Fork that Coin"??

http://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2013-08-11-android

We recently learned that a component of Android responsible for generating secure random numbers contains critical weaknesses, that render all Android wallets generated to date vulnerable to theft. Because the problem lies with Android itself, this problem will affect you if you have a wallet generated by any Android app. An incomplete list would be Bitcoin Wallet, blockchain.info wallet, BitcoinSpinner and Mycelium Wallet.

as a former Google employee I thank you for your vigilance!
How many BTC you want for that crazy hat they give you?

455  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: If you sell on eBay or other outlets, please read this: on: August 12, 2013, 01:51:47 AM
Being a drop shipper is going to kill future sales from me.
As it stood now people who could buy and pay for large amounts were rewarded with a lower cost as it should be. Now your going to turn it into a cut throat deal on ebay where some kid is going to be happy making 29 cents per unit.

It would be like ASICMINER telling people if they want they will drop ship at the same cost as the resellers get and killing any reseller markup you might get.
Ebay sales look to have peaked over the last few days anyways. The last order I got in was for $74.95, a measly markup. Now they're far lower. I don't see your concern here.

The most readily available ASIC is the Block Erupter USB which hashes @ 336MH/s. I paid BTC 2.6 each, but now you can get them for BTC 0.55 each. It's a much better deal, but you might still have trouble making ROI.

Check out my case study here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=224015.0
You can get a blade for BTC10.24. up to 12GH. After the upcoming difficulty change to 49 million (about 3 days away), it'd make about $14USD per day.
457  Economy / Lending / Re: need 0.60 btc for these three cool things on: August 12, 2013, 01:32:39 AM
paying back the 0.60 BTC as said before.

in total it is about $58.97. The rest ($2.97, i think) are going to emergency funds/savings accounts.

I also will pay by Saturday, August 17th at 6PM

459  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Process to get started buying bitcoins on: August 12, 2013, 01:15:06 AM
Hello All,

I hope Im posting in the correct manner.

Im learning about bitcoin and request someone to provide a simple step by step process from

1. USD cash in my hand

2. next step set up account with ?  (who is reputable and has least commission rate )

3. How do I get me cash to them?

4. How do they get the bitcoins to me?

5. I want to keep them until they appreciate in value and then convert back to USD.  How do I sell them and with whom?

6. I see reputable people on this board offering escrow service, how does this work?

7. Any other info that can be offered up that would be great.

8. Are there different transactions for those buying only 10 bitcoins (approx USD1,000.00) on a single purchase and those buying 100 bitcoins (approx USD 10,000.00) on a single purchase

Many thanks and I appreciate your input and guidance.

Coinbase is the way to go! Check out the link in my sig and we both get free BTC =)

i randomly received .15 btc yesterday to one of my android generated addresses.  Why would I randomly get free money?  this never happened to me before, is this related to the flaw?
did you google the sending address?
