441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Institutional Bitcoin Trading on: December 02, 2019, 08:11:49 PM
I think the opposite, early or so this year we saw a lot of institutional investors try and enter the market, and they basically pushed Bitcoin dominance pretty high and raised the price of it again.

I doubt institutions are going to have a huge effect on bitcoin, likely just small movements that get covered by the regular market, and they still aren't the biggest whales.

There has actually been a lot of people who have been trying to trade OTC without effecting market prices, as well. Not sure if businesses can do this.
442  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy 1 bitcoin on: December 02, 2019, 04:00:22 AM
So I own $1000 in bitcoin but I want to invest the remaining amount to accumulate a whole bitcoin.  The prices fluctuates every second so how can I do this on coinbase?  I believe this is called a market buy order and I've looked at the steps on how to do this but I think they're outdated or wrong.
If you trade on Coinbase, it's quite easy and you can literally buy BTC from them, they only update their prices every 5 minutes or so, and when your transaction is getting processed, it's basically set in stone (the price), and they can't change it.

They have huge, huge spreads though (something like 5%) and I would definitely recommend you to look at other options like paxful, which don't require your ID, and have only 1 percent or so via bank transfers (0.9% spread or smth, and then a 0.1% bank transfer, I believe).
443  Other / Archival / Re: Need your advice and ideas for making money online and get out of a hellhole on: December 01, 2019, 11:49:19 PM
There's a lot of ways out of your situation, although they are going to require huge amounts of manpower and work, especially since you have basically wasted your life before 25 years (no offense).

These a lot of ways to learn things with a simple internet connection, I have friends that have learned how to code really well just off youtube and articles - if you think this is something interested, go down that path, as web development is a pretty popular and well paid job, even if you are remote.

That's the only job that I can think off that doesn't involve some form of dodginess unfortunately.
444  Economy / Economics / Re: Future without Middle men big way, but big Question? on: December 01, 2019, 10:25:22 PM
There's always going to be a use for middleman, and it's not just going to end up with people doing everything for themselves. Middlemen are usually used to save time, or when something you want just can't be done (eg, you want to talk to investment bankers).

We aren't going to be able to see automation of every service, although a lot of the industries you are talking about are going to die (eg, taxis).

Also, you forgot a very important middle-man. Payment processors! I don't think they will ever end up outdated, they are too crucial and some businesses don't have the time to make their own payments.
445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does crypto help to diversify your investment portfolio? on: December 01, 2019, 09:57:40 PM
Most crypto-investors, like me and my friends will understand that the market is basically a gamble if you make money or not. I personally wouldn't ever invest in crypto if I had a lot more financial freedom, but so far I just put it off as a hobby and if I end up making profits, I sell and maintain my portfolio at a certain value.

Have the mindset that the money you have in crypto is already gone, and I would invest in crypto if I didn't have investments in more safer, traditional options.
446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the Crypto Markets Are Saying About the Future of Bitcoin on: December 01, 2019, 09:28:40 PM
I also share a similar POV, that bitcoin is going to end up maturing into a state where it's going settle between 2 price points (I thought this was going to be 8,000 to 12,000) and then it would just bounce around that price for a while.

Other investments have lasted/been around for several hundred years before they reached their fairly stable state like they are in now. I would assume crypto-currencies to talk around the same year, and we likely won't stabilise around the price ceiling for 30 or so years.
447  Economy / Services / Re: CryptoTalk.Org Signature Campaign [Yobit Panel] on: December 01, 2019, 10:25:38 AM
Right now both Yobit and Cryptotalk are down I only see a cloudflare I just login to my computer, and I don't know how long is this going, I hope it's just a maintainance,  it seems there is an overload of their server, I hope it's not a ddos attack and they will be back the soonest possible time.

Yes, I also cannot access 2 hours ago to the Yobit panel. I hope this maintenance will not be too long and I also hope that there are no new rules in this cryptotalk signature campaign.
Let's wait for the updates and statements.
I think it's a specific region block. Where are you guys from? I am still able to access the site, although the "send to your BTC balance" button doesn't work (excepted).
448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friends of Satoshi on: December 01, 2019, 06:56:41 AM
The think of the mystery is everyone just keeps focusing on Satoshi and who that might be.
No one is really searching for people who may have known that person or persons.

There are several people out there. Who do know who Satoshi is and did talk to him at least. Why are we not focusing on those people? the friends?
It's fairly well known that Satoshi is a smart fella, so it would be fair to assume that he didn't overly talk to people and reveal to them that he was satoshi, and his life was weird in a way it was like he lead 2 of them.

A regular real life, similar to ours. I would assume he would only tell his family and closest friends about his online ID, and it's going to be impossible to track that past.

And an online life, where he actually never linked to any real life features. All of his work is about BTC and technology, and he never talks about his real life on the forum, or anywhere else.
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A new proof-of-work system for Bitcoin mining? on: December 01, 2019, 04:36:16 AM
There's been quite a bunch of new ideas circulating around BTC mining, and there are forks/ideas that will bring BTC to a POS, POW and a lot of other systems all focused on the idea of saving money and keeping energy consumption low. The problems are however:

- It will be a different fork to BTC and will either split BTC into 2 weaker communities or completely be dead on arrival.
- Miners and a lot of investors will never, never touch the new BTC, likely either keep mining the old BTC, or move to other coins (BCASH).
- Waste of time/effort.
450  Economy / Economics / Re: HSBC Bank to shift $20 billion worth of assets to blockchain-based Digital Vault on: December 01, 2019, 03:56:22 AM
Now doesn't that sound cool? A blockchain-based digital vault!

Even though it's pretty obvious this is forced innovation, and the banks are likely only doing this for attention/to please shareholders, it is something interesting to talk and look at.

The idea of moving everything to a single centralised platform, where everyone can see deals that have been made (even private ones) sounds extremly bad for business, and it's neglecting a lot of people who are focused on privacy.

Don't think this will ever get anywhere.
451  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ koinde.com] The another alternative of localbitcoins.com is it safe to trade? on: December 01, 2019, 03:39:06 AM
I just trading on localbitcoins over years, I heard from one of my trade partner he reputations is very high and account is older than 3 years.
Any experience on that site.
The site is location is Turkey. It have address but I am outside of Turkey.
The site says 0 trading fee and just BTC trading available versus TRY, USD.
To be honest, if someone has high reputation and can prove they are another person on another site, 1 of 3 things spring to my mind.

-He/he is going to try scam you for a big amount on the other site and pray you can't link it back to LBC and ruin his reputation.
-He/She just wants the avoid the 1% fee that he needs to eat, every time you start a trade with him.
-He/She owns/works with the site.

I'm leaning to the last one due to the experiences you've had with him, and lack of reviews.
452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard Wallet Privacy on: November 30, 2019, 04:30:09 AM
@gbr79a. If you are extremely scared for your safety and privacy, you should use a Monero donation address. You can use xmr.to to purchase something in bitcoin.
Facts. I know a bit of a privacy freak that only accepts payments via XMR, and then uses a mixer/exchange (I forgot which one) to then instantly transfer the amount into BTC, and then he sends it instantly to his cold storage.

I wouldn't be really scared about holding any amount below 10 BTC, especially if it's on a hardware wallet, just keep that safe and you should have no issues with hacks/privacy exploits in the future. If you still want to go through the hassle, mocacinno has a great post for you to follow.
453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: French National TV Starts Advertising Bitcoin on: November 30, 2019, 03:34:50 AM
Pretty sure Keplerk or another company announced that there was going to be an option to spend BTC on cigarettes and e-cigarettes earlier this year, kinda sucks that it took them several months to get it implemented, although better late than never.

Not sure if it's the best idea to only let tobacco be bought with BTC, it sort of gives off a bad vibe of BTC (I understand cigarettes aren't illegal, but they aren't good for you either), I think there needs to be a lot more mainstream adoption, where it can be used to buy groceries or electronics before they start seeing any actual numbers.
454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So, What did you buy with your bitcoins on Black Friday? on: November 30, 2019, 02:48:59 AM
Let's not be so glum, I think one of the biggest issues when it comes to bitcoin mentality is one of regret. Oh, I can't believe I spent BTC there for something so useless, blah, blah. It's a bad mindset to have, and as someone who loves new tech, I've given up on it and just tried to enjoy life Smiley

This time, I used the purse.io addon/app for amazon's black friday deal and bought a bunch of the new black friday specials, with most of them being SSDs, headphones, and a monitor + some small purchases!
455  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PRIVCOIN.IO l The money did not come on: November 30, 2019, 02:23:18 AM
Hello.
I decided to transfer money through a mixer 1900$ privcoin.io
Pointed everything right.
Such a letter has arrived:
«Total BTC received and confirmed: 0.27776967. This amount will be forwarded shortly. Please tell your friends about us Smiley

I wrote to them in the mail, but I did not wait for an answer.
Tell me what to do?

Honestly speaking I never heard of this mixer. Why would you chose this site in the first place? You could go with ChipMixer.

Scamming BTC by providing mixing service is really easy.
Create a website
Rank it on Google
Ignorant people think it's legit since it came from Google search at the first
Easy money.
I am pretty sure this was your case since you have not got your coins.
Fair, there are definitely quite a lot of mixers out there, and there is no doubt that chipmixer is the most popular/trusted one. But it lacks a lot of other features that other mixers offer (mostly talking about multi-currency mixing, which is when you send in BTC, and then receive ETH back, making transactions literally impossible to track).

That's one of privcoins main features, and it's one of their rises to fame. They've been around bitcointalk for a couple years now, and I've seen people use them fairly well.

I am sure one of privcoins support members will get to you - maybe move this to reputation/scam accusations to get more attention.
456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass adoption of crypto on: November 29, 2019, 12:05:29 PM
Firstly, there is no need to talk about North Korean. The UN has already declared numerous issues against them, and thinking their opinion is valid in the acceptance of crypto-currencies is just frankly stupid. Syria, and especially Iran make sense, as these are pretty powerful middle-eastern countries that will actually have an effect against the acceptance of crypto.

They haven't been very forthcoming with crypto-currencies at all! Iran and Syria have not made any changes in recent years, and whatever you are referencing is incorrect. Although, I still think the world is going to be able to move on with newer technologies, even if Syria and Iran don't agree with this new tech.
457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese football players wear bitcoin wallet QR code T-shirt, popular social net on: November 29, 2019, 11:52:09 AM
Yesterday, bitcoin soared wildly. When many people regretted that it was too late to start, a football player found a new way -- to wear the T-shirt advertised by bitcoin to speak for his dream on shaky voice, and successfully won the support of many people.

There are football players wearing clothes with bitcoin logo and QR code, which represents the address of bitcoin wallet. Scan these QR codes, and others can donate money to the wallet. This two-dimensional code has successfully gained a lot of attention in dithering, and quickly spread throughout the bitcoin community.
Damn, that's a heart-warming subject. From what I've heard, the sport scene in China is extremely difficult and people will need to push themselves harder then ever to be able to be noticed, and there isn't a lot of money on it (except when you are at the very best).

Any idea how much has actually been raised through these QR codes, I reckon it would be very popular if they played games with these jerseys, we could see live action donations, as they are playing!
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New EU law: Banks allowed to hold and sell Bitcoin as of 2020 on: November 29, 2019, 10:42:18 AM
Let's not all get so happy, keep in mind there is a need for further approval before this bill is going to get passed, and there's a pretty high chance that it ends up getting blocked, the EU isn't the most crypto-friendly bunch.

I am no expert when it comes to economics or bills, but I feel like this isn't focused on banking - instead its more focused on the anti-AML side of things, and this is just going to impose a new ruleset on the banks? Will this even affect regular users?
459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so few women buying into Bitcoin? on: November 29, 2019, 05:13:14 AM
They don't care because you have given them a small amount but see to it if you'll be giving them hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of bitcoin, they will remember it and probably cash it immediately.

I guess the interest of woman isn't really into this but in the future, this might change.
This is the wrong mindset to have, it's the payment option that is the problem here, not the amount of money. Getting 300 dollars in any currency is going to turn heads, and if the ladies got 10 dollars in fiat, they would have likely just pocketed the money.

Even though this is a pretty small sample size, it's fairly accurate and representative of the scene. Women are statistically less interested in investments, compared to men, and since BTC is usually seen as an investment nowadays, women aren't going to interested in it.
460  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there a service that lets you lock your Bitcoin for 24-48 hours etc.? on: November 29, 2019, 04:52:28 AM
Let's say I have some Bitcoin and I want to lock the Bitcoin away for many reasons - is there a service that can let you deposit your Bitcoin and get it back after 24 hours or something similar?

Perhaps you can even earn a small interest % on the Bitcoin whilst it's there?

Do you know of any reliable service that does it?

I'm not sure about short term ones where you can lock away your BTC, but there are a lot of options for you to keep BTC away, I think companies like Nexo will offer you monthly rates, where you can't withdraw your money for a month, and you get some nice interest as well.

I get a feeling that this is a possible gambling/spending addiction. If you really do feel like your addicted, you can buy containers that can hold things, and then plop your ledger inside, set the timer for several hours and then be forced to resist.
