441  Economy / Economics / Re: NYSE declares bitcoin "emerging ASSET CLASS" on: May 28, 2015, 05:21:40 AM
There are a lot of words over what Bitcoin is and no real consensus
At the least an asset class sounds reasonable, it can act as a means of currency but retains its own value it may be a new type of asset class but it fits in that definition.
442  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin investing on: May 28, 2015, 05:11:11 AM
so, what id like to do is invest bitcoins to a stock or mutual fund account, but am not sure the best way to go about it. any tips/advice?

There is one that I remember but they require a signifcant amount of capital the hedgable article from last year.

Hedgeable Offers 'Free Bitcoin to Every American' in Investor Promotion

The promotion is part of a multi-stage rollout of bitcoin services at the company, which has integrated its platform with bitcoin services provider Coinbase.

The company's Plus Program requires a minimum $25,000 investment, and associated fees can be paid with bitcoin. Bitcoin investments are currently not available with its $5,000 basic investment program.

Throughout the conversation, Kane stressed that, while its account may require a sizable upfront investment, its target market is average investors, those who have between $50,000–$200,000 to invest.

"The average client with us has $250,000, that's actually the average account size in America. However, if you have $200,000, you're really in the dark, most high-quality investment solutions are $250,000 and up," he said.

Otherwise you can wait for the Winkeveli ETF and then by some stock when it gets released on the Nasdaq in the future.

443  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Why are there no legitimate HYIPs? on: May 28, 2015, 05:06:34 AM
A real HYIP scheme would not work since it would easily become overextended when the rate of withdrawals exceeds the rate of deposits
The reason that Madoff was able to keep his running for example is because they were able to convince users to retain assets and due to its famous reputation could keep a steady inflow of new investors to pay out old ones.

That said real estate and hedge funds take advantage of chaotic environments and leverage their equity to maximize profits through trading other peoples assets so its possible for them to have great years perhaps not every year but consistently enough to get 10-15% in some years using a trading strategy.

Rent and property management is an example of this as long as the housing market remains stable there is a solid return on income from managing them, that is why their are really rich people who manage trailer parks especially from criminals etc to make a good buck.

444  Economy / Economics / Re: New research: Using Time-Series and Sentiment Analysis to Detect the Determinant on: May 28, 2015, 05:00:50 AM
The time-series measured sentiment assuming the servers were online
A great example of when one of the main sources of information was down would make a good note but they focused on twitter so the sources focus on one area still an interesting series of relationships were illustrated in my opinion.

For the set of cointegrated variables, we estimated a VECM to identify the underlying long-run relationships. The analysis revealed that the stock of Bitcoins has a positive long-run impact on their price.

This is also a counterintuitive result, since the number of Bitcoins in circulation measures the total supply of money which would be expected to have a negative effect on Bitcoin prices.

The Standard and Poor‟s 500 index was found to have a negative impact on Bitcoin prices in the long run, implying that stocks and Bitcoins are treated as substitutes by investors.

More specifically, a decrease in the Standard and Poor‟s 500 index induces investors to sell their stocks and substitute them for Bitcoins

So like any asset it's impacted by awareness popularity and exchange rates.

445  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin trading strategy on: May 28, 2015, 04:41:44 AM
most important thing is patience. if you have that then trading is very easy and it requires very low effort. buy low sell high.

It's also important to know when to break the trend or to change patterns, even with the long run price drop this year there were periods of recovery and price rallies, so in terms of short and long term strategies both sides can easily make money.

2 Million hands and millions more to come
448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you expect from dice sites? on: May 27, 2015, 03:22:31 AM
I mean, dice game is really simple, and many sites offer the same more or less( in terms of gaming),dice with bot with some configurations.

What makes you decide for a dice site to play in it?

I guess primedice has its faucet and chatbox that can be entertaining
Otherwise I guess having more types of games besides dice once your bored can lead you to gravitate to it
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin recover from another 90bn coins hack? on: May 27, 2015, 02:59:24 AM
It would be fine the blockchain would require a hardfork to before the hack
At least that is what occured when the chain split and I believe also when that hack was discovered.
(Now if it made all transactions invalid and no one found out about that bug for years and it became unrecoverable that would be something else entirely)
450  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's talk about how hot Asian girls are. [NSFW] on: May 27, 2015, 02:53:48 AM
The only thing i worried about when the forum was down was that we may lose all the pics in this thread, it's good to see the hacker had some pitty and left us our beautiful asian girls thread.  Tongue

Indeed its good to see it alive and kicking even after our five day hiatus
Maybe it sounds strange, but I love this thread so much not because of these hot chicks and all, but because I can see some specific people posting them. It's hard to explain - you can google and find tons of these pics, but when you post them, they're beaching more valuable, because I know someone is enjoying these sights as much as I do.

Bros, am I normal?

You are mate its a shared understanding and appreciation of fine asian girls
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Want 1M USD from Roger Ver? Prove him wrong on: May 27, 2015, 02:31:02 AM
Speaking of that topic bitcoin.com is the escrow since its redirecting to blockchain wallets I guess the 5 year agreement that Ver had is invalid it means that the domain is up for sale again.
452  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Hillary Clinton Trustworthy? on: May 27, 2015, 01:31:21 AM
I can't say i'm a fan of Hillary Clinton
Her ties with monsanto bother me and I for one do not want more GMO's in my food to many risks with to little surveilance and that would only get worse if she becomes the President due to her backers who have a vested interested in that industry.
453  Economy / Economics / Re: Major Banks Admit Price Fixing... Hugh Penalties on: May 27, 2015, 01:21:16 AM
Cost of doing business for these guys, nothing is going to change that.

It is just a few pennies in the bucket for them and it's off to the next profit generating scheme
Perhaps by charging higher fees to users since interest rates are so low right now they need to skim money from somewhere.
That and it is future bailout money after all they are too big to fail and are not being broken into smaller banks.
454  Economy / Gambling / Re: ➫ ➬ ➫ ➬ LUCKYB.IT ★ +1.3M bets ★ +60k BTC wagered on: May 27, 2015, 12:47:13 AM
I haven't played luckyb.it in a while as well but saw people talking about the new layout so was curious
Design wise it is nice to see the blockchain hashes as a clickable option but the old symbol did look nicer.
Just my 2 cents
Old icon symbol was also clickable. It just seems a bit too poppy (in a bad way) for the mellow dark background. The bright light blue on the dark brown and green background just looks bad.

I was thinking that since it looks off people are more likely to hover over it and discover that they can click on it instead of using the bet lookup Smiley
I agree with you that it does look bad relative to the old design and that the new design needs a different skin to match it.
455  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin is the savior of professional poker players on: May 27, 2015, 12:37:04 AM
It is saviour for gambling in general

in my country there are many restrictions to gamble almost every game and with bitcoin is really simple and easy to play without restrictions

Indeed there is no reason to have house edges of 10% and over like in a Casino when there are low costs, it's also secure and provably fair with low cost and ease of transfer.
Just got to wait and see though I'm sure the government will want to have it's way with it sooner or later like Nevada and SWC

Do casinos have 10% house edge or more??  Shocked

I didn't know they have such high rates

I meant at some physical casinos and games (depends on what your playing and where)
The house edge on licensed online casinos that do US currency are likely lower but not sure by how much though but its still likely a lot higher than most Bitcoin house edges though and takes signifcantly less processing time for withdrawals.

There are a bunch of data listed in the American casino guide if your curious though but those are for slots the ones that provide data are roughly 10% for slots.
Keno has an edge from 4% to 35% according to wiki (which linked to wizardofodds) so 10% can be on the low end for some games he-he.

460  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-26] Bitcoin Volatility Hits 2015 Low; History Suggests Sizeable Moves.. on: May 27, 2015, 12:00:29 AM
When volatility is low and were near a 70% price drop from when we were at our last historical high
It's argueable and has been for a while that we are at the bottom and are due for an uptrend the question is what the trigger will be for the next massive rise or how long we will be in a sideways low volume trend.
