I'm by far the most excited about Mycelium's Bitcoin Card - provided that it allows you to broadcast transactions without the need of carrying another device (smartphone). We need cheap, simple and secure hardware solutions that provide instant Bitcoin use. Having a tiny card that allows you initiate Bitcoin payments anytime is imho a "killer app".

That said another project I'm very excited about is BitSIM - a smart SIM that you can use in any 2G-cellphone for doing Bitcoin transactions. If this project materializes, it might be the first serious competitor for Africa's established mobile payments solutions.

ya.ya.yo!
Aye, I am in agreement. It sounds great. It's familiar with people too. We are used to using credit cards to transact with. Making something that fits in your wallet that functions well and securely will be a big deal. I read that it will work outside of the blockchain though, which I am not too sure about, but I am intrigued for sure.

Thanks for sharing BitSIM, I shall have a google. Do you think it will be useful outside of Africa?

Get gems messenger app. Decentralized messaging app that rewards users for growing the network.  Also when fully operational, it will have daily air drops based on usage. Plus, advertisers will pay users direct. It is also a very secure Bitcoin wallet and an easy way to transfer funds.

Basically it's bitcoin's killer app.

Personally I only tend to text message my wife, my mum and the fish monger. Very seldom do I text others. Is that the kind of thing it is? Like whatsapp but decentralised? Also, what are 'air drops'?

i look the most forward to the gemini exchange of the winklevoss brothers. in the long term it can have a great impact on the price. we need better exchanges than the current ones that we have.

Yeah, I hear this a lot about Gemini. I dunno though. The exchanges that I have used seem pretty good. All that needs to improve for me is being able to instantly credit your exchange account with FIAT with zero fees. Will it be able to do this? All I hear is that it will bring an air of respectability because two guys who were represented poorly in the movie, 'The Social Network', are behind it.

meh

Ethereum and Maidsafe! don't forget maidsafe!  Cheesy

Hmmm. For the first time I just looked up maidsafe. It sounds good. It's one of those things I think I'd like to try out. Hopefully not too long before I get the opportunity.
445  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: June 26, 2015, 11:57:38 AM
Bitcoin clearly needs to fly first for openbazaar to take off. In my country to get bitcoins instantly you need to pay 5% above the market rate. Will people do that in order to use OB? I dunno. I think only bitcoin fans and those who like tech and probably those that hodled before the last bubble and others before the next bubble (if it ever comes).

You may get a few that decide to use it because it works out cheaper, but i think that a lot of people wont want the math problem and will dismiss the option as they find the process too cumbersome. I am not sure how how to get over this hurdle. Just keep talking about bitcoin i guess.

What do you mean bitcoin needs to fly first? If bitcoins are difficult or expensive to buy in your country you can find other channels to purchase them. People will sell you them here in a variety of different ways.

Where is here?

I know there are different ways to purchase them, but none of them are ideal. Presumably openbazaar will have a function when it is first released to display BTC prices in the users local FIAT currency. Say a pair of trainers pop up for £50. Now a UK user that is completely new to bitcoin has a few options, he could go to somewhere like localbitcoins.com and purchase £50 worth of bitcoins for £52.50 and make his purchase that way, or he could send £51 or so over to an exchange and make a purchase that way, but this way he will face bank charges and days of waiting for his funds to clear.

Now perhaps £52.50 would still be cheaper than this user could get the trainers from elsewhere and he may decide to proceed with the purchase. What I am saying though is that a lot of people could be turned off due to this as it may be viewed as cumbersome.

Betfair sportsbook have put their odds back to 2.0 so the original calculations still apply.

I have noticed that Betfair Sportsbook have increased their odds from 2.0 to 2.05. This is favourable and you can continue using the calculations already described. If they draw or lose then you will make the same amount which I calculated in the instructions quoted below.

One advantage of Bitcoin betting sites is the immediate cashout. In fact you don't even need an account for fairlay - just send your bet from a bitcoin address and receive your winnings directly after the bet on the same address. Thus the time where you have to trust the site is reduced to a few hours.

I can understand that fairlay will function in this way but i presume that if there is a bonus involved the book will be monitoring wagering before a withdrawal is allowed.

I wish you the best of luck with fairlay, I have not heard anything I dont like so far.

Hello eerygarden

we at Fairlay.com welcome all user that want to use Fairlay for bonus clearing. As a betting exchange we do not offer bonuses but we offer lay bets with high liquidity and outstanding odds. It will be often possible to not only clear a bonus but even make small arbitrage winnings.
Just look for Bitcoin bookies that offer deposit bonuses and cleat them easy with Fairlay.

@eerygarden - we also have a referral program.

Hello fairlay Smiley

Thank you for getting in touch. I have heard about fairlay previously but i didnt look very closely at your site. I am impressed that you claim to have excellent liquidity, I wouldnt have expected so, I should take a closer look. What commission do you take? Do you take commission from winning bets only?

To be honest I am very cautious about betting with bitcoin. Its not that regulation makes me feel safe, its that reputations are thin. I get no pleasure from betting small sums and if i risk building up a balance at a bitcoin book I am going to get nervous. Bookmakers are known for having a disliking for arbers and advantage players and in my experience all bookmakers are bastards. There is no sportsbookreview or anything substantial out there as far as I can see that will put any weight on bitcoin sportsbooks acting unfairly.

Where do you stand on obtaining a UK gambling license?
449  Economy / Gambling / Re: GIVEAWAY!!! - Instructions to profit from UK gambling companies welcome bonuses on: June 26, 2015, 08:38:47 AM
Can you register from other places of europe?
It's possible that some books will, but I know for sure that the terms and conditions for the betfair bonus is restricted to UK and Republic of Ireland only.
They require id verification? Because maybe they don't and I can transfer money there and win the bonus to withdraw.

yes mate
all of these fiat casinos , sportsbooks and poker rooms require you to verify your account
and usually the verification is by providing your ID with a bill with your name and address on it
sadly I can't play on any of these due to country rejection
Sy answered this exactly right. If you cant prove your ID come withdrawal time they will just keep your funds.
450  Economy / Gambling / Re: GIVEAWAY!!! - Instructions to profit from UK gambling companies welcome bonuses on: June 26, 2015, 08:36:03 AM
What companies is this available for if I am not from UK?

In short, I dont know, but this is the third similar query I have had regarding this. If I find one I will let you know. In the meantime if you come across an offer that you are eligible for in your country let me know and I will take a look at the terms to see if I can help.

I assume there are a number of ongoing projects under development that I have not heard of. Which projects do you anticipate will be great for the bitcoin community once they are released/completed?

The ones that I have heard about are
  • openbazaar - seems really cool
  • mycelium bitcoin card - i would like to see this in action
  • the twinkletoe twins exchange - meh
  • ethereum - not really sure what it is. Is it an alt coin?

Tell me what you are excited about for the bitcoin community?

Not content with shutting my website down, the UK Gambling Commission has now seen to it that I cannot bet with my bitcoin at the following (so far)

Direct Bet
Fairlay
Nitrogen Sports
BetBtc

Where ever you are in the world, enjoy your freedom.....ours here in Britain is slowly vanishing.
 Undecided

Did you say this as those websites have chosen to restrict your access from you UK IP address or did the Gambling Commission communicate something to you directly?
I was contacted by them.
They sent me a 'Cease and Desist' order setting out in no uncertain terms,  that I was open to being prosecuted  if the site wasn't taken down swiftly.
And the sites above have chosen to block  my IP address at the request of the Gambling Commission.

They all blocked your IP address specificly?! Jeezus thats crazy. Are you on a static IP? I know that you could work around it with a VPN but that seems quite a message.

It's getting worse.

Betfair.com not have different type of bonus for every nation ? For italy, have blocked a sign up
Hiya. Thank you for your query. It is possible that Betfair offer different promotions to different countries and if they do you will most likely be able to profit from them. As I am from the UK myself and I am already familiar with a lot of welcome offers targeted to UK customers I am aiming this giveaway offer to other UK citizens as I feel I can do this comfortably. In this instance this offer is available to citizens of the UK and Republic of Ireland.

If you come across a gambling site with a welcome bonus that you are eligible for in your country, then I am happy to take a look at the terms and conditions of it for you. If I feel it is profitable, then I may be able to help you for a fee. Please let me know if you have any such queries.
