441  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: There is no certainty in trading on: January 04, 2021, 08:49:30 PM
Lorokan (the OP) has said it perfectly. We don't have a crystal ball so obviously can't know which direction the market is going. If we'd know that we could make billions in seconds.

The game changes when you have deep pockets and your trades affect the market significantly. But very few people actually get to that stage. Mostly hedge fund managers.
442  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if Bitcoin goes off this Institutionalized expected Bull-Run? on: January 04, 2021, 07:27:09 PM
Quote
Institutions are smart people smart money so why they buy at any given market price when they can save and get it cheaper in a correction or a crash?

Because the supply is so small. 21,000,000 for a whole planet to save their wealth in Bitcoin is minuscule to say the least.
Secondly, the professionals usually don't trade on weekends and there was a gap to fill on the CMEs. Wink

If supply is trickling little drops like a tap then bitcoin price should increase 5k daily right?

It doesn't work exactly like that. Some institutions like to trade profits along the way and also engineer liquidity to accumulate more. When you're a whale the game is completely different.
443  Economy / Economics / Re: Very serious Question the New money system on: January 04, 2021, 06:53:49 PM
The world hasn't gone through many changes of the monetary system. I mean from bartering we went directly to precious metal coins and then went off the Gold Standard (big mistake IMO). That's when the decline has begun. We're in a totally different era now then we were even 30 years ago. Technology is booming everywhere you look. I don't know how the governments and Central Banks will handle the transition but it's going to be either a lightning-fast transition that will shock the whole world or the more likely scenario they will adopt/accumulate Bitcoin and then make it mainstream.

Even if they do make a digital currency, that's still no solution for inflation.
444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "rat poison" is worth more than Buffett's company on: January 04, 2021, 03:47:18 PM
I have recently watched one of Chamath Palihapitiya's speeches and he says that technology and Bitcoin is not Buffett's "zone" or something like that. Keep in mind that Chamath calls himself a disciple of Warren and Charlie Munger. With all the respect, you can't expect a 90 years old man to understand a technology phenomenon that is only 12 years old. Yes, he is a guru in investing, but that doesn't mean he has a crystall ball or if his opinion is worth anything in a subject he has no expertise in.
445  Economy / Services / Re: Paying btc for your money making method. on: January 04, 2021, 01:38:50 PM
If you google methods of making money you will get a lot of ways to make money. They're all tested as someone somewhere must have made money using them, but remember that past results are not indicative of future performance. To generate high-returns with your money you need to have skills, not just the capital. You can do anything from ecommerce, content creation (blogging, vlogging, social media influencer, etc.), flipping (websites, domains, cars, real estate, sneakers, etc.), retail arbitrage, uber, crafting objects and then selling them. Then you have trading & investing. You can beat the index returns, but you need a lot of experience and the skills to do it. Wink
446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Really bad beginner mistake with bitcoin. Plz HELP on: January 04, 2021, 11:59:28 AM
I'm not sure if Robinhood allows users to withdraw cryptocurrencies from their accounts, but you can do it the classic way. Sell all your holdings on Robinhood, transfer them to your bank account, then to an exchange, buy Bitcoin and then transfer them back to your personal wallet - preferably a cold one if you plan to hodl for long-term.
447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I quit smoking and buy Bitcoin every week on: January 04, 2021, 06:56:03 AM

Wow!! Just four weeks have passed, and you are already having more than BTC0.01 in your wallet. Just imagine what could have happened, if you had started this in 2018, or even in 2019. But then, it is never too late to invest in cryptocurrency. If the prices remain constant, then you may end up with BTC0.12-BTC0.13 by the end of this year. And more importantly, your health situation is going to improve.

It is amazing how much of a better life we could live if we become conscious about our spending flaws and invest that money wisely. I really believe financial education should be promoted extensively especially in third-world countries where people are starving. Even when having only 1 buck a week in savings, that can still compound to something relevant in a few years if put to work wisely.
448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FOMO has started for Bitcoin on: January 03, 2021, 08:49:59 PM
Emotions like greed will always be present in the market. The trading forces change as years pass by, but we're all humans even if sometimes bots trade for us. We can still set them to be more aggressive during a bull run Smiley)

This kind of post is always helpful especially for beginners in trading. A bull run can inspire euphoric states in some people and it's not a good idea to trade when you're on that extreme. You should be feeling good when trading, but not too good if you know what I mean. Always keep your emotions in check is my final advice.
449  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin a deep pullback @40K? on: January 03, 2021, 07:51:18 PM
We're in price discovery mode and there is a lot of buying pressure on the market from professional investors. Guess what... no one has a crystall ball, but when the big dogs are playing and the supply is thin surprising things can happen. Let's not forget that CMEs have a gap to close tomorrow, but that's not a set in stone rule.
450  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is the crypto market saturated? on: January 03, 2021, 06:23:47 PM
It is not saturated, it is just full of junk projects, copy cats and scammers who don't bring any extra value to what Bitcoin or Ethereum are already offering.
I'd say that the crypto "market" still has massive room to expand. Think about the infinite amount of dapps and services you can build using cryptocurrencies especially in the financial services sector.
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's Happening? $31K on: January 03, 2021, 05:15:48 PM
Institutions are getting their toes dipped into the market. Personally I expect a lot more news like "xyz fund/company enters the bitcoin market". Until now, there was not the right playground for high net-worth individuals to play. Now that the price is getting towards $100k, big money will pour in the market.

People must understand that Bitcoin is pushing away against fiat currencies, but you can still buy fractions of a unit. If Bitcoin is going mainstream I believe we will be talking in terms of millions in a few years.
452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today Bitcoin Turns 12 Years ! on: January 03, 2021, 01:58:46 PM
What a great market environment to celebrate the genesis of Bitcoin network. Happy Birthday to BTC and may all the supporters continue their work towards a better world.
Let's keep our vision in the present and the future and think how much can this asset and currency change in the next 12 years!
453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Fees are cheap right now on: January 03, 2021, 07:40:48 AM
This is just another proof that mining fees are not that big of a problem. It needs to get sorted? - For sure, that's why we have the Lightning Network.
I think we should be more conscious about fees when we get to a more stable, less volatile Bitcoin. For now we are in a full on bull run led by institutions queueing to get a piece of the pie. Wink
454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we deal with all the disgusting snake oil salesmen? on: January 03, 2021, 07:11:32 AM
I think that in one way or another avoiding scams is a necessary skill for any wanna-be investor. Getting scammed is a great lesson and teaches people to look objectively at the pros and cons of an opportunity.
Personally I would not spend time watching a video/parody of scammers, but beginners in online investing might find it useful, though.
455  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie should trade or not? Please give me idea. on: January 02, 2021, 08:36:05 PM
I know this is an old thread, but this theme is extremely useful for aspiring traders. Beginners should DEFINITELY TRADE - and as often as possible. Only by getting repetitions you will become proficient at this game. BUT, and this is a big but, do not trade with real funds until you prove yourself on paper that you're profitable over a set of 20-50 trades. There is absolutely no reason to start trading before that besides being greedy and reckless. You will pay your tuition to the market through money or time, or the worst... BOTH!

My friendly recommendation: get a demo account and start trading if this is what you want to do in life. Don't do it for the money.
456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will 2021 become the year of the Lightning Network? on: January 02, 2021, 08:01:20 PM

Transaction fees are voluntary on the part of the person making the bitcoin transaction, as the person attempting to make a transaction can include any fee or none at all in the transaction. On the other hand, nobody mining new bitcoins necessarily needs to accept the transactions and include them in the new block being created. The transaction fee is therefore an incentive on the part of the bitcoin user to make sure that a particular transaction will get included into the next block which is generated.

I've got the above from wikipedia. As Bitcoin price rises people won't spend the same amount of BTC on fees because it is not economical. I believe the Bitcoin is very efficient, but it has some small problems here and there such as getting too congested from time to time, but it does not happen very often. Luckily we already have the Lighting Network to handle this issue.
457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whales or institutes do not stop their bitcoin buying on: January 02, 2021, 07:16:08 PM
We might see more violent movements in the markets as the supply is getting thinner and thinner while the institutions want to accumulate more. I've also seen a recent statistic that "buy bitcoin" keyword is trending up on the google search analytics. Fundamentally this is very bullish and for sure the institutions are using military grade protection for their assets. When you're playing with investors' money you can't take no chances or your career is over.

When an asset is in price discovery mode and the fundamentals are strong, expect some crazy results. That's all I can say.
458  Economy / Economics / Re: Out of Reach on: January 02, 2021, 06:08:06 PM
It is not pushing away, but its value increases. People who are in the lower bracket of income can still buy fractions of a Bitcoin, they will still get the same benefits of Bitcoin, but proportionally to their allocation.
1 BTC is a lot nowadays, but 1 mBTC is not that much while 1 satoshi is accessible to anyone. This is the beauty of this currency, everyone can participate in a decentralized distribution of wealth. They can keep it or send it forward. It's all part of the blockchain aka the history of transactions in our society. Quite cool if you think about it.  Grin
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qortal Genesis - LTC cross-chain coming soon - new updates! on: January 02, 2021, 03:26:11 PM

Also, with the change to LTC, we get a MUCH FASTER, MUCH CHEAPER network (LTC network over BTC) to deal with, and therefore we will have trades that are CHEAPER THAN CENTRALIZED EXCHANGES.

That's a great incentive for people who trade on shady unregulated, centralized exchanges and not only..

Looking forward to some tokenomics for QORT, though. Don't get me wrong, the QORT blockchain and network is already offering innovative tech solutions that no one else has. Could be a game-changer, but I'd like to see some ways to leverage QORT holdings and boost its value? Bitcoin is a scarce asset by design which is the main value-driver besides being used as a payment method. Maybe the data-hosting and liquidity provider features will have an important role in the ecosystem?

Great work and excited to be here!  Wink
460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex delisting XMR, DASH and ZEC. Will this affect Bitcoin? on: January 02, 2021, 10:04:12 AM
I'm curious what is the reason behind the removal of these cryptocurrencies. Hopefully authorities haven't made some orders regarding the trading of anonymous cryptocurrencies. These coins have more than decent volume and they're veterans in the space so it wouldn't make sense for Bittrex to delist them from a business point of view.
