I've been getting quite obsessed with your GLBSE project!

Keep up the excellent work!

Physics grad from top 5 US university, will answer any college level physics/engineering/math/chemistry question that I can.

There's gotta be a few of you who are not done with exams yet!

Thanks, psy!

I don't know if I'm just OCD, but somehow leaving fractions of a penny in a bank account would drive me nuts, haha.

I'll definitely check them out though.

The things you are talking about are multi-billion dollar projects. It doesn't seem like you have any concrete idea about what you hope to achieve with a couple grand raised in a glbse IPO.

LOL at the price action on gigamining due to this thread

Mining bonds are an interesting investment, since you should expect the price of bonds to depreciate as mining capacity increases. But the annualized yield of something like gigamining is somewhere around 200%, so you are still making a lot of money in the dividends.

The idea is that depreciation of face value will be more than offset by your dividend payouts, which you can then reinvest into higher Mhash/BTC bonds as mining efficiency improves.

I bought some on bitcoin-nordic, but the fees were quite high. I would be interested in knowing the cheapest/most reliable place that accepts EUR bank deposits.

I used to never be interested in college basketball, until I made a bracket with a bunch of friends.

They should do a similar thing for the olympics or the euro/world cup.

A bitcoin service with payouts would be sweet.

Hi bitcoiners,
I'm new to this forum, but have been lurking for the last year or so.

I'm curious how many people on this board work in finance or have used their expertise in bitcoin to demonstrate value to potential employers in the field of finance (e.g. hedge funds). I think bitcoin and studying all different aspects of it has taught me a ton of stuff about economics, security, IT, forex trading and business.

After all, the people working on Bitcoin now might well be the JP Morgans and Warren Buffetts of the next century...
450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin too slow for many transactions on: June 12, 2012, 09:33:20 PM
As the bitcoin infrastructure grows, it will be adapted for individual transaction types.

The US dollar, for example, is named after a large silver coin. Those were impractical (sorry ron paul) and were eventually replaced with the paper/fiat/electronic/credit card system we have today.

It will take a few more years of developing fast-pay systems to adapt bitcoin for use in day-to-day transactions.

In the meantime, the more obvious uses for bitcoin are foreign currency exchange, tax evasion, money laundering, porn, etc., but this will change as more technologies are developed.

Wizard is fun as hell...

Too bad the RMAH doesn't accept bitcoin yet!
