Its not really as big as people are saying, they are basically saying they are not going to stand in the way if people want to use it as a payment method. That being said they arent openly endorsing it by accepting it for tax payment ect.

Ive been using the bitpay card and I personally love it. Really easy to loadup and spend. In addition I have a paypal card because I get that 6 month no interest on payments over 100 and can put bitcoin right on my account via coinbase (eventhough theres a bit of a fee).

There is no need to use bitcoin in this situation. Bitcoin isnt for ideological payments.

Most people DONT need bitcoin if they are in first world countries. censorship resistance and the ability to avoid hyper inflated currencies and given the freedom of money is important to many around the world.

I wish we could actually see real distribution on the blockchain, but unfortunately it is designed to obscure the data. I would like to really know how many coins are owned by a small amount of early adopters.

I think we have far to go as well, but we can only go there if we make technical upgrades to the system. Until we pass segwit and pave the way for lightning network im just sitting back and staying out of the bitcoin news.

The mockup video screams troll to me. I have a feeling that bitcache is going to be very underwhelming and overall be worthless. I dont trust Kim at all to deliver a decent project and I think people are getting fooled by his hype.

Highly doubt the stock market is going to crash 50%+ people have been calling it for years, and if it does the bitcoin/gold you hold wont be worth shit. People wont have money to buy them.

While I think BU is a terrible incompetent project, I think we are far from over in terms of it disappearing. Discounting the money and influence they have among early bitcoin investors is foolish imo. Many crazies actually think core is run by the FBI to destroy bitcoin.

While I do agree that a fork would be a terrible idea for maintaining both chains, I think BU might fork just out of spite/ they really believe that they will get the majority.

We dont need it yet, maybe there will be a solution in the future, but most likely blockchain isnt it.

I mean nearly 9 years with billions of dollars at stake and it still keeps kicking, I would think that is pretty damn strong. Someone did the math on reddit and you have a better chance of hitting the lottery than you do bruteforcing private keys. That being said, some wallets might have bugs in address creation.

I have to admit this gave me a really good laugh.

Part of the misconception is that you need to find something to do with bitcoin, but in my opinion, if you dont have a necessity, or you dont want to speculate, then you dont need to use it.

Yeah LTC is definitely going to get segwit before bitcoin. Its not that they need to, their transactions arent that high, but it will be a great testnet for bitcoin.
|

The chinese miners are not controlling it, but they are definitely influencing many people involved. Honestly in my opinion we should move back to a gpu centric algo and recentralize it. Maybe a very memory intensive algo so asics would be hard to develop for.

Almost no one in a first world country needs to use bitcoin on a daily basis. They are just idealist purchases. Using bitcoin is slower and less inefficient with everyday in person payments than cash or credit. Uncensored transactions/ online transactions is where they shine.
