444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CVC] CIVIC Tokensale :: 21 June on: June 21, 2017, 04:37:10 PM
The Tokens are intended to be used solely within the Ecosystem and the Company will
not support or otherwise facilitate any secondary trading or external valuation of Tokens. This
restricts the contemplated avenues for using Tokens to the provision or receipt of Services, and
could therefore create illiquidity risk with respect to any Tokens you own. Even if secondary
trading of Tokens is facilitated by third-party exchanges, such exchanges may be relatively new
and subject to little or no regulatory oversight, making them more susceptible to fraud or
manipulation. Furthermore, to the extent that third parties do ascribe an external exchange value
to Tokens (e.g., as denominated in a digital or fiat currency), such value may be extremely
volatile and diminish to zero.

No one is worried about this?

they are just better at disclosing risk than other projects have been...
this is a risk for pretty much any crypto token

I agree the disclosure is more forthright with this project than other similar projects I have studied recently.  I am getting excited.  Awesome work!
445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Explain pls what are sidechains and drivechains? on: June 21, 2017, 04:22:01 PM
The benefits of sidechains are plentiful as the negatives, I think.  If a sidechain is an independently operated chain like the side chains in Komodo for example, there is comfort in some stability. What I am referring to is this: If an event occurs that affects the main chain, such as an attack, the side chains remain unnaffected.  That's a plus, for blockchain based businesses, and altcoins.

448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear Bitcointalk Community, please change your perspective about Bitcoin! on: June 19, 2017, 05:47:04 PM
it's not just about the price, it's about the use and adoption as well, and using the currency as it should be used, as a method to send and receive payments and That's my opinion as well, but we have to accept there are people investing in BTC like that, it is their free choice and option to use their money and BTC. We can't just tell them to not do that.

The real paradox, if we are free to choose and free to speak than I suppose it is our freedom to listen or tune it out.

Bitcoin will survive all of the various challenges regardless.  We will all be richer for it!

Hello There, I have applied for a loan somewhere else but I would withdraw those apps if I meet your criteria for lending.

Would you consider a .018 loan without collateral, or this account...   I follow your thread closely and I see that you do sometimes allow senior accounts as collateral on a case by case basis. Please let me know if I should formally apply with you and remove my application from other, less known lender.  Thank you !

I'm not sure if there's another thread for this already, or if this belongs in a different section. So basically I thought it would be helpful to post up your Bitcoin address in this thread in the event that your account gets compromised later on down the road. You can simply make a new alt account, sign the address that your original account posted here, and have irrefutable proof that you're the actual owner. It's not 100% guaranteed that you'll get your account back, but it's a pretty good start. Of course, if your account is compromised, the hacker could just come back to this thread and edit/delete whatever address you post here, so that's why I'm asking people to quote the address posted by the preceding user in this thread. Here's mine:

Yes, but the constant drip of the freeloaders wanting a bounty is getting old... oh and now, if they don't get a bounty its going to "fail". How original. More entitlement mentality.

These words made me laugh, audibly, enough that my husband poked his head in the room to ask if everything was okay. It does seem like a trend though.  Failure is never as predictable as the "freeloaders" make it appear.  This project looks solid,  worthy of investment even.

Since I am actively seeking a new campaign to promote, I am posting in other applications.  My Writing styles carries across any topic, and I really liked the look of this one, including the campaign management.  I still wish to be considered for this campaign, and if chosen I will immediately wear the uniform (the avatar and signature code)
Thank you !!

457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin really need an ATM? on: June 15, 2017, 01:37:11 AM
✨I agree!✨ Here are my thoughts Smiley.
No, it isn't really a need.  It is however a solution to one problem that Bitcoin users face, and that is, trust. Peer to peer transactions are not different than a transaction handled at an ATM except the ATM is holding the wallet of the peer the ATM user is transacting with.  The reason the ATM is more trusted than "some guy" is purely because it is a machine, attached to the blockchain, and has all the familiar features we are accustomed to like buttons, receipts, and a toll free phone number to call if an error occurs etc.

I think there is a need for an ATM. This is because they connect Bitcoin to Cash. I agree, trust is something that is an issue for bitcoiners, in a peer-to-peer transaction. But, what about the people who aren't tech-savvy enough to even understand what Bitcoin is?

If they want to buy or sell Bitcoins, they can easily use ATMs to do that in a more conventional way. (Which they are comfortable with.)

The fee that is placed on top of the actual value when purchasing from an ATM is often a painfully out of proportion amount. Also to withdraw cash from the machine will yield a disappointing, below market result.   Yesterday at a popular Bitcoin ATM machine the current VALUE of btc was 2848.00 but the ATM charged 3200 per coin to purchase. OUCH!  Then if you wanted to get cash, you "sell" your coins to the machine and it was paying $2340 per coin.  More ouch!

I agree, the fee is a lot, when transacting on ATMs. This is something that ATM operators need to work on. I think the fee shouldn't be more than 1-2%. (Currently it's around 7-8%)

✨I appreciate the fact that you actually read my reply and your responses are clear & thoughtful✨ Now, I have to tell you that on any given day, I will be seen at the bitcoin atm despite my long-winded answer, above.  I HATE the fee, but I love the convenience.  It is an evolving perspective and soon I hope to offer a mobile solution in Vegas at least, as soon as my kiosks are funded fully !!
