4401  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need help figuring out electrical usage with small mining farm. Costs/Profit on: October 21, 2011, 08:01:50 PM
Did you include cooling costs and hardware depreciation?

You could reduce the cost of electricity by disabling 3 out of 4 cores on you cpus as well as underclocking and undervolting (not to mention reducing some voltages on the mobo).

P.S. Don't forget about merged mining!
4402  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Can switching the power off directly on the MB via power lead damage on: October 21, 2011, 07:02:12 PM
That is a small but realistic concern.  Newer drives do much better.  They have ability to auto-park using small capacitor to drive the actuator to the park posistion and the drives inertia to park before drive stops spinning.

Thanks! Did not know 'bout that one.

Not 100% sure but it might not be good for the HDD, when during sudden power loss the heads don't return at their places and land on the platters instead, scratching them.

What's the shipping cost to EU? where're you from?
4405  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); Now LP&Ntime, NMC merged mining on: October 16, 2011, 05:16:42 PM
I have a question regarding merged mining.

I have submitted my NMC address (it's: MxycpydXU7NUQt3qA6qxX3ZnS7QsZWsm3L )
few hours ago, and so far I got 0.00000000 unconfirmed/confirmed NMC

Settings saved, no problems with BTC mining as usual; I have 0.94 GHash/s and 3 workers if it matters.
4406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the Bitcoin need the most now? on: October 15, 2011, 01:11:09 PM
introduce new people to the concept that is Bitcoin?

Yes.
Big people.
And big companies.

But it mightn't be easy.

4408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Price Predictions on: October 02, 2011, 09:36:14 AM
I think there is nothing to keep it going up, very little demand, mostly speculation, and somewhere around 3 USD should be just slightly above the cost of electricity and the depreciation of hardware even for those with cheap electricity.
4409  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6950 Sapphire xtreme - It goes no further 320mhas on: September 28, 2011, 02:07:20 PM

- Experiment a bit with flag settings, like here:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

- Stupid question, but are you saving the settings? go to GPU-Z and check the clocks when GPUs are under load.

- Does it only happen with only all three GPUs connected simultaneously? How does it look with only one GPU connected? Same mhash/s? (if it's higher then there might be a problem with your PSU)

How would you increase the price of Bitcoin?

Find and convince BIG companies (we could start with gambling and pornography industries at first) to start accepting and promote Bitcoins.
4411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm planning to write a book about Bitcoin, any ideas? on: September 26, 2011, 08:05:16 PM
I'd wait a few months to see if bitcoin falls more or stays as it is or increases... unless there's some new demand for it, I expect it will continue to fall.
4412  Economy / Speculation / Dead cat bounce on: September 26, 2011, 08:01:20 PM

Dead cat bounce - when is it going to stop?

And also - wouldn't you expect the difficulty go down? It's no longer profitable to invest in new mining rigs, moreover, many people are scarcely making any profit with such low exchange rates.
4413  Economy / Economics / Re: [POLL] Where are you putting your money? on: September 18, 2011, 09:26:25 PM
I wish people would really put their money in Bitcoins like in the poll..
4414  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: EUROPEAN BITCOIN CONFERENCE 2011, PRAGUE NOV 25-27 on: September 18, 2011, 02:16:17 PM

Would it be possible to arrange live video streaming for people who will be unable to get there (e.g. me Tongue)?

4420  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 4 x 6870's Which Psu? on: August 30, 2011, 03:22:23 PM
Get a Corsair TX850V2, 840W on 12V rail and 70A, you'll have space to overclock too if you'll go with a cpu that doesnt that much power (or you won't stress it too much).
It's got 4 6+2 Pin power connectors, so you can connect either 4 hd6850s or 2 6870s and and remaining 2 from a molex-pcie connector.
