4401  Economy / Speculation / Re: All time high is just around the corner are you selling all on: November 07, 2020, 10:57:38 AM
I have no plans of selling all. That would be a bad decision. If you are 100% into cryptocurrency just for the sake of investment, then you may do it and then wait for a lower price to get back in. But if you are into cryptocurrency because that is the best way for a currency to be operated then you would surely leave some for it.
+1 to what you said. I can't sell all my btc just cause Bitcoin maybe could cross it's ath, Bitcoin itself is a currency and also a hedge against fiat devaluation/inflation, so even if btc goes above 20k, selling all you stash back to your fiat currency is not wise, especially if your currency is one that's so vulnerable to inflation/hyperinflation.

Even being a Bitcoin investor, I also a enjoy btc as a currency (of course without a third party), having said this, we pretty much have the liberty to use the stash in our portfolio as we think good, if you are only a investor, then you can take your ROI when it gets to the ath, but for me I'll always have btc in my wallets to spend in places that accept it.

4403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 06, 2020, 07:09:21 PM
...With Citys current form I don't see them as the favourites in that match. But as you said Liverpool has its problems in the defense, now even without VVD. So a hard match to predict. My gut tells me Liverpool will take this one but betting-wise it would probably make more sense to go for BTTS or over 2.5.
Liverpool are also not in 'excellent' form this season, City usually have problems when they face Liverpool at Anfield, but at the Etihad I always fancy City to get a win (or a draw). Manchester City look to have addressed their center back issues, with Diaz and Laporte forming a confident partnership in front of Ederson, though this Liverpool match with attackers like Mane, Salah etc, will more or less be their first major test, I'll also be watching out for that.

Imo, I'm going with City to win this game, with Jesus back and prolly Sergio may also be fit, they will surely be playing this match with a recognized center forward, I'm going with a 2-1 victory in favor of Manchester City.

4405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State-Issued Digital Currencies - Why do you need to sell all your bitcoin on: November 06, 2020, 01:20:15 AM
Central bank digital currencies are centralized, so it's not 'competing' with Bitcoin which is a dex crypto, and can't make it's value depreciate by any means, the only competition CBDC's have is with other countries planning to also launch theirs, like China v The U.S. in their struggle for which country is making more progress economically and in other whatnots.

Btc crossed 15k today, sorry it's prolly not the time FUD can actually work on noobs, it's more of that period when quite a lot of people will start getting curious (FOMO) and joining the network as opposed to selling their btc.
4406  Economy / Economics / Re: After elections end this year for all countries, we are all screwed on: November 05, 2020, 11:23:39 PM
After elections end this year for all countries we are all screwed
All countries are not conducting elections this year, and if you mean the U.S election currently ongoing, then it more or less has nothing to do with other countries, not to talk of "all countries"
Prepare for tax increase, price increase, lockdowns, police brutality and anti democratic measures .
What elections exactly is going to bring all this? And tbh, all the above are present in our world today, so I don't really get your point.
2021 going to be a crazy year for the world .
Yeah it already is, from Covid-19, to Bitcoin crossing 15k Grin
4407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another 2017 kinda year is already around the corner on: November 05, 2020, 08:42:43 PM
PayPal news been the reason of BTC Continuous price increase, while other says it's due to election, we will know whether it's really related once election ends which we already know whose the winner.
Tbh I don't think it's any of that, after the btc halving this year, the price was predicted to follow the trend and gradually keep appreciating till it crosses the atm, prolly by next year and that's exactly how it's going, even before payPals decision or the kickoff of the U.S. presidential election, Bitcoin has been on a very good run and that's good news for Bitcoin hodlers.
I just hope that ethereum and other top coins will also move behind btc this time and market can be collectively green.
I don't know about other coins, but ethereum definitely has been doing good on the market and it has continued to appreciate in price. Imo, after the launch of eth 2.0, it could spike so high and go over it's own ath, the months and years ahead looks good for Bitcoin and eth and prolly maybe few other good coins.

Congratulations legendary coolcryptovator, you carry on your shoulders many responsibilities on the forum, from scam busting to campaign management, and you're a very 'cool' campaign manager, this is a reward for the good things you've been doing on the forum, especially posting HQ and warning/updating users on scams and ways scammers can take away their funds.

Well done mate, you're going to still achieve much more going forward I'm sure.
4409  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Complete Guide for Beginners on: November 05, 2020, 07:54:40 AM
I've not used the site (app) and I don't think we know who created it, I'm not saying it's not good for newbies, but you can't be sure about it in maybe the long run, so to the newbies who may be interested in exploring that website to add to their Bitcoin knowledge, they should be careful and remember to follow all the precautionary measures when in the Bitcoin network.

This forum is prolly even enough as a start for a newbie, plus users sometimes share safe links leading off the forum (GitHub, YouTube, etc) that are helpful and newbies can read and gain more knowledge; the point is, in btt, users put efforts to make sure newbies stay safe and help them filter what's scam from legitimate, I don't know how many websites or apps do that for newbies and that's were there's a problem.
4410  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why aren't more businesses and investment funds buying Bitcoin? on: November 05, 2020, 07:33:23 AM
Of course businesses and corporations are buying Bitcoins, this year alone we've seen more than a handful of companies either investing in Bitcoins or using the coin as their reserve asset, it's good for the network and you wouldn't expect every company to make their investment plans public. Having said that, not every company has the 'balls' to invest in Bitcoin based on how volatile it is, most companies that aren't really cut out for the risks, will pretty much choose assets that are more stable than BTC.

But do not be concerned if businesses or corporations invest/don't invest in Bitcoin, since it's free from third party control it doesn't really matter who invests, except of course for adoption, the network is open for all to use it in the way they choose.

Real Madrid need to win but they are not the better side. Honestly I wouldn't take the risk for not a rewarding odd, my sportsbook shows 1.75 odd for Real Madrid win.
With Real's performances in the CL thus far this season, of course they are not the better team nor favorites in this match, but I usually stick out my head to trust Madrid in this sort of games in the CL, the decisive/big games. Anything other than a win for Madrid in this game puts their qualification chances in jeopardy, I expect Real to come out and get all three points in this match.

Manchester City play Olympiakos and can go to 9 points with a win tonight, peps men are doing better in the UCL than in the EPL this season, and I expect that to continue, I am going with City to win plus BTTS.
4414  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin the best reserve asset? on: November 02, 2020, 09:10:38 PM
...We can't assume what will bitcoin be in the future as early as now though, bitcoins show good characteristics as an investment. But that will not be a guarantee since countries like China are aiming to create their own centralized digital currency which other countries around that globe are doing the same and as of the moment, they are not considering bitcoin as the best one that can resolve most of the issues we are experiencing in fiat.
Bitcoin is a dex crypto, CBDC's aren't going to affect it in any way since it's more or less centralized and keeping them as a reserve currency is the same as holding the country's fiat currency that's vulnerable to inflation/devaluation/manipulation. Mind you that we never expected the government to believe in Bitcoin, that's prolly why they are imposing regulations here and there and launching CBDC's, but Bitcoin is free from their third party control, so whether they 'consider' it or not, it's more of the 'people's' coin and it's value looks like it'll keep appreciating down the years.
4415  Economy / Economics / Re: Need of the hour : Use the Crisis on: November 02, 2020, 06:40:03 PM
Starting a business is not as easy at it seems, I'm sure everyone will like to have their own business and be somewhat self employed, but there are many factors hindering the growth of small scale businesses and by extension, microeconomics. Capital is one of those factors, many people do not really have the capital to start the business of their choice, and the government are not willing to support small scale businesses with loans, it's easy to tell people to start a business, but without capital, starting a business is not possible.

Competition is another thing when considering starting a business, honestly if you look at some of the options people have when considering setting up their own business, there are more than enough businesses in that line already and you may be knocked out of business very fast as a result of stiff competition. Mind you that this pandemic is also not a good time to even consider starting a business, there are too many uncertainties with lockdowns and the rest, plus people mostly depend on home delivery for most of their needs. What I think could work this period is having a skill that people actually need, imo selling a skill looks pretty profitable at this point, especially one you can reach your customers without meeting them in-person.

4417  Economy / Economics / Is Bitcoin the best reserve asset? on: November 02, 2020, 03:44:10 PM
MicroStrategy, Grayscale, square etc, it was a year when companies chose Bitcoin as their reserve asset, if you missed some of the big news, see Fillippone's thread Bitcoin treasuries to keep track of it. That being said I found a good article that seemed to suggest that Bitcoin is the best reserve asset we've got, mind you that I'm not agreeing 100% with the writer, but many of his claims seems to be true, so why not allow the community have their say on this, see this excerpt:
Quote
An excellent way to evaluate any investment is to take $100 million and move it forward a hundred years and ask the question what happens. If I had $100 million worth of currency in any of the largest cities of the world in the year 1900, and I went forward for 100 years, and I put the money into the best bank in the city, I have two types of risks; counterparty risks and inflation risk. Regarding counterparty risk, every major bank in every major city around the world failed in 100 years. And that is a 90% probability you lose everything
I personally consider this excerpt the best part of the article and something we all can apply as we make investment plans for the future, but that's Bitcoin v Fiat/traditional institutions on the subject, and I agree that fiat is vulnerable to inflation/devaluation and manipulation and Bitcoin is prolly a much better reserve asset than just leaving your funds lying in your bank account losing its value with every year. Since Bitcoin is a good hedge, it's the better option imo. But what about Bitcoin v Gold or Bitcoin v real estate investment etc, the article has something to say about that, see:
Quote
Even gold and other precious metals run into issues when you look at them in terms of 100 years. While they appreciate over time, the logistics of holding them can be stressful. You could use third-party storage services such as commercial banks, but history has taught us that gold can get lost even there, especially during wartime or political upheavals such as revolutions. This has also happened several times in the last century. During World War II, large masses of gold were stolen by both state and non-state actors. Similarly, during the Soviet revolution, a lot of privately owned gold was seized by the incoming government
Do you think Bitcoin is the best reserve asset we have atm? Much better than Gold and others, and can we continually trust Bitcoins value to keep appreciating with the years.

The article: https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-is-the-best-treasury-reserve-asset-humanity-s-ever-had (it's much better you read the article first before commenting)
4418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Legit Airdrops, don't waste time with others on: November 02, 2020, 02:56:26 PM
I've been having this on my mind for awhile now, i know most airdrops sucks and i would like to use this little time to put together a list of valid airdrops for those who still cares about airdrops, i will be updating the list once another legit airdrop is up for grab
Imo compiling a list of 'legit airdrops' is counterproductive cause users are hardly interested in airdrops now, the tokens could look free, but in reality you're actually not getting anything at all, it's much better to invest time into crypto related things that'll be more productive than airdrops, trading for example, learning more about the BTC network, eth is about to launch 2.0, not a bad time to join the ethereum network etc.

You prolly wanted to help users filter good/bad airdrops, and the intention may not be bad, but airdrops are pretty much bad for the network in itself as they bring more news about scam since many of them end of being one. That being said, users who are prolly still interested in Airdrops till now could still be interested in the op, but I'll honestly advice them to focus on more productive things on the crypto network for long term ROI.
4419  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How safe is Coinbase / Coinbase Pro? on: November 01, 2020, 10:40:28 PM
<...>it also support passphrase you can enable, it will request for the passphrase anytime you want to spend your coin, I think this two are enough to safely keep your hardware wallet. And if lost, you can make use of your seed phrase backup to retrieve your coin on many wallets that support BIP39.
+1 to all you said, but mind you that op is somewhat of a newbie to the Bitcoin network, so we should be careful how quickly we introduce him to some features on the network, and even if we do, the risks should also be made known to the user, the passphrase is good for extra security, but op should know that if it's lost or forgotten, then the seed becomes useless. Some newbies can have the misconception that even without the passphrase, they could still access their funds with their seed phrase, it's better they know how delicate the passphrase is and once set, without it, the funds are gone.
4420  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown in Europe can their economy survive this?. on: November 01, 2020, 01:14:19 PM
The first phases of the lockdown was very bad for the economy, and after it was eased, many countries around Europe and the world were on a recovery mission, this second lockdown no doubt will take that recovery process some steps back, but I can imagine it's very necessary looking at how the virus seems to be spreading yet again.

But imo the economy may not plunge like it did many months ago when the virus was new and lockdowns were imposed for the first time, countries should have learned a thing or two from the first wave and I'm sure there are quite a lot of measures put in place to keep a stable hold of the economy as they see out this second lockdown, in some countries it's not even a total lockdown, just specific regions and some specific institutions will remain open. Covid-19 vaccine is also a forthcoming possibility in not too long, so the economy will surely plunge, but will survive all this for sure.
