4401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Metaverse Cryptocurrencies on: February 22, 2022, 09:15:31 PM
The problems with metaverses in general is that they are closed worlds, i.e you cannot really communicate from one metaverse to another. In the gaming world, we've seen this where Xbox users cannot play against playstation users (until recently). This is why we are promoting the idea of an "Openverse" - one that allows true free movement between metaverses. This will take time, but we are already working on a dashboard, that will link communities in different metaverses. Regarding digital and physical protducts, we like the idea of Boson Protocol where the virtual world and the real world are connected.

Ultimately we are trying to create a "one stop" portal that can merge all these together.

Please have a look www.agorametaverse.com

So what will happen if metaverses are not linked ?

If we do not try and form a true "Openverse" and lobby enough of the big players to participate, we will end up with a just few Metaverses, while the smaller ones just disappear.
You nailed the fact there isn't any metaverse at all. It's just a bunch of different developers creating their own projects which don't have any connectivity among themselves. The word metaverse is being used and abused by the clickbait media, sensationalist personalities and developers from the speculative industry trying to make some fast money through a new hype.

However, you are also promoting a project of the same kind which can't deliver what you are promising. You can't force different "metaverse" projects to interact and let users share what they have conquered in one with another. It's all about a deceiving marketing which can't fulfill with its promises.

Maybe something serious regards this matter will start appearing from 2030 on... And even if it happens, I doubt it will be opened to the public.

A lot of countries are releasing/ contemplating to release their own digital currencies. EU is contemplating digital euro, Jamaica is thinking of digital Jamaican dollar.. India has already launched digital rupee..
How these currencies will affect the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem?
India didn't launched their CBDC so its a wrong information which should be edited.

All the countries are thinking now and if you have sense then think why they are trying to create their own instead of an actual decentralized controlled by none?

Because they never want you to spend your money, they just keep everyone as slave and few as rich by keep inflating the value which decrease the purchase power of your currency gradually.
Governments like the idea cryptocurrencies are trackable, but they don't like its decentralized nature, so they are going to fixe it by creating their own centralized cryptocurrencies that aren't different from traditional fiat currencies in value, purpose and usage. I believe their impact on crypto market will be zero, because people who are investing in bitcoin and altcoins aren't interest in fiat currencies, especially from third world countries. Moreover, there is already stablecoins which follow dollar price, the best option of its kind and the only one needed to avoid cryptocurrency market's volatility.
4403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying for your taxi with Bitcoins !! on: February 22, 2022, 06:04:10 PM
Uber CEO is adept of the political correctness imposed by the mainstream media and specialists. He said bitcoin will be only accepted when it becomes environmentally friendly. He endorses the narrative of bitcoin mining process demanding too much natural resources in order to produce enough energy to keep the farms running. I fear at some point Uber ends adopting some cryptocurrency else using this excuse, and let bitcoin behind as it wasn't important.
4404  Economy / Economics / Re: OMG crypto is low ! what do i do ? on: February 22, 2022, 05:16:01 AM
1.You build dapps
2.You create nfts
3.You start selling something
4.You create tokens
I just feel sorry for those who are going to buy and invest on these stuff, because instead of taking the opportunity of cheap prices to put their money into something useful like bitcoin, which will return them profit on long run, they are going to waste money with ephemeral trends that are likely to last few months at the best scenario. On the other hand, I can't deny it's totally profitable for developers behind such projects...

In crypto universe, even those who bottle up smoke to sell for a living have chances of success, because that is the kind of market where people buy anything, doesn't matter how useless it can be.
4405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Summary of My Bitcoin Journey So Far on: February 21, 2022, 09:41:38 PM
It looks a very welcome extra income for you since 2017. Thanks to bitcoin, many people are finding tasks and jobs opportunities online they wouldn't have access if it wasn't for the digital currency. I suppose it has made total difference in your life and even encouraged you to be more optimistic, inspired and motivated to try new things focusing your financial prosperity.
Bitcoin has opened doors in the lives of many people who used to live in locked rooms without any sunlight coming in, that is: people who didn't have any hopes left due to the precarious reality of their countries or regions.

But once bitcoin connected the whole world and brought every kinds of remote professionals together, it stopped being an issue and became just an unfortunate detail.
4406  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gemini Exchange on: February 21, 2022, 08:56:24 PM
At a *guess* since it was not Gemini accounts in general (at least none have been reported) and just people with IRA Financial I would think that it's on the brokers side.
Now, if there was a custom solution between the 2 then the *fault* might be with Gemini but not the actual vulnerability.

Until the final report comes out or they release more details, it is all just speculation as to what happened.

-Dave

Didn't know Gemini existed a long time ago. I happen to create an account last year on this exchange to transfer my BAT rewards, when Brave has not introduced their own wallet yet. And they did require KYC before you can use their platform. But what I found out is when you withdraw your BAT, they are not charging any fees unlike Uphold. And now, Brave has their own wallet that you can use.
I thought about doing the same. I can't remember right now, but Gemini was offering a promotion or benefit compared to Uphold, so I went for them to cashout my BAT from Brave browser. However, the KYC process was absurdly complicated, slow and they kept refusing my approval, even though I use the same documents on another platforms without any issues.
In the end I just gave up this exchange and the BATs are still at the browser waiting to be withdrawn...
4407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun alone? how true? on: February 21, 2022, 08:11:27 PM
Well, some people just have a pretty decent fixed monthly income that money isn't a problem for them. So they can use and waste it in the way they desire in order to have some fun and on the next month, a huge amount of money will be disponible for them again without any headaches or setbacks. Not all gamblers are people struggling to be lucky enough to get millionaire. The most important gamblers for the industry's maintenance are already millionaires or billionaires. The amounts of money these gamblers move are unthinkable. And even if they lose, it won't have a serious impact at all on their lives.
4408  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin likely won't recover until 2025 on: February 21, 2022, 06:21:46 PM
Quote
Huobi co-founder Du Jun told CNBC on Sunday that bitcoin prices are often influenced by a technological change in the cryptocurrency's network, called "halving".

Halving is a key feature of bitcoin, and refers to a cutting in half of the amount of cryptocurrency that so-called miners receive as a reward for validating transactions.

The last halvings occurred in 2016 and 2020, and crypto analysts expect the next one to take place in 2024.

Huobi co-founder predicts this cycle is going to repeat itself, following the last bear market pattern, which started right after the ATH of 2017 and lasted long painful years... Is it too pessimistic to think this way or is the halving the real game changer factor which drives market's prices, as Du Jun says?

He also mentions another factors such pandemics and geopolitical issues can influence bitcoin's price, but it's clear the halving factor was highlighted as the most important and influent one among all.

Bitcoin is shaping up to enter a bear market and likely won't recover until 2025, co-founder of Huobi crypto exchange says
4409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The digital perfection of Bitcoin on: February 21, 2022, 06:07:35 PM
People always say that Bitcoin is the digital money that will take over soon as the world is digitalized, but they have not understand something, It may not be easy as we  think due to some delays in confirmation of transactions,It will be a good development to the whole world, but how do we perfect this and make it handled and easy as a physical money? Bitcoin has actually come to stay an let make it perfect and make it easy for everyone to use, through the digital. Yes I agree that Bitcoin is future currency, but let it be easy to use ?
You have a point, indeed transactions' delays and costs have been an issue when using bitcoin as currency on daily life. In the future this aspect is probably going to be improved, as technology keeps advancing and new ideas are introduced to crypto universe.

Anyway, I think a temporary solution for now would be sellers and buyers adopt a same centralized crypto payment system, so every internal negotiations made inside this system would happen without any transactions' fees or delays.
4410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: would you Invest here if they fix these defects? on: February 20, 2022, 11:36:22 PM
Lol, they don't need to create a token to protect the bees. They can simply show their work to the public with details and if they want investors for a bee farm business model in order to produce honey, they can collect funds in bitcoin or any other consolidated altcoin and pay dividends as they wish. To save bees from extinction looks a weak argument to launch an altcoin and to create some hype on the market that is already flooded by altcoins.
This is a project which aims to profit with speculative ICO pump and dump scheme. Better to stay away... There are serious chances to lose money when investing on this bee colony project.
4411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally got paid for some work in bitcoin on: February 20, 2022, 11:07:28 PM
It's feels great working and earning in crypto-currency really it's brings the world closer, I can be in Africa and working for a client millions of miles away in another country and payment method won't be a problem with crypto-currency, the world is advancing and crypto-currency is facilitating it. Anytime I put in work, and get paid in crypto-currency I hunger to work even more, it's a true blessed feeling
Yes. I think it's a big advantage for employeers from rich countries and employees from poor countries, because the first group will be having access to qualified labor for a cheaper price, if compared the to local rates of employees of their own country, which demands better payrates due to the living cost being more expensive there. Meanwhile, employees from poor countries don't bother receiving less, as even less is still a lot for the local living standards.

On the other hand, bringing employeers and employees closer, doesn't matter where they are located in the world, can have a negative impact for the masses of first world countries, because they will have difficult finding jobs which pay decently, as they will have to compete with people who are, like you said, millions of miles away in another country, for the same spots.
4412  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your expectation on: February 20, 2022, 09:19:22 PM
Another bottom for bitcoin today without any major events that could justify it. All I see on the news at google regards bitcoin are headlines like:

Bitcoin was overcome - know the new promising cryptocurrency of the moment;
Goodbye bitcoin - this is the new cryptocurrency billionaires are investing on;
Bitcoin living on borrowed time - 2 new altcoins will surpass bitcoin, declares billionaire;
You won't get millionaire buying bitcoin - new crypto category has potential to turn 1000$ into 200,000$.

Only misinformation on the main news displayed by google. I can't expect anything if i don't know what is really going on...
4413  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: February 20, 2022, 08:22:03 PM
Since, it is "freebitco.in" people sometimes think about this place as a way to make free bitcoin. I mean I do understand the logic, at first, I considered it that way as well, I didn't see this as a casino at all. For me this place was a place to get free bitcoins (satoshis) and as a side thing they also had a casino implemented as well, not a casino by heart but a faucet by heart at first. Then I realized that wouldn't work as a business, you guys would have been bankrupt long time ago if that was the case.

This is why now I do understand why you do certain things but that is of course because I understand the point of view right now, some people may still not understand it.
I'm an enthusiast of this site because besides keeping legit along so many years, they are unique. It's the only site as far as I know that offers 3 main features to supply 3 different kinds of customers: gamblers, investors and faucet users. And you aren't forced to use one feature to have access to another. You can just use it in the way you want. That is great!

And even among faucets freebitco.in is the best so far, because they still pay rewards in satoshis and not in "coins" like another sites of the same kind, so you have to accumulate, let's say, 1000 coins to exchange it for 1 satoshi unit, what is terribly frustrating and hard to calculate how much you are earning for real. Moreover, they are probably the highest paying one if we count on the free wheel daily spin received through email, which rewards 40-45 satoshis really often. Probably only cointiply site could be considered a competitor on this matter, although they also pay rewards in "coins", which keeps devaluating your balance in case btc rises in price.
4414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 20, 2022, 06:29:40 PM
Transfer rumours:

Manchester City are set for contract talks with England international Raheem Sterling at the end of the season - but may decide to sell the 27-year-old forward if he does not agree a new deal. What will Sterling decide in the end? It seems to me that he has a difficult choice, to stay or a new beginning in a new club?
Manchester United will not stand in Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo's way if the 37-year-old demands to leave at the end of the season. Ronaldo came to his former club as a big star and with a desire to do great things but everything seems to have gone wrong. Which in the end Ronaldo will decide?
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, 66, is set to walk away from the club in the summer after saying it is impossible to compete in the Premier League without total commitment. Is one beautiful story coming to an end?
Arsenal are interested in Spain striker Alvaro Morata, 29, with Atletico Madrid ready to sell. The Gunners could face competition from Juventus, where Morata is on loan from the La Liga side. What are the chances that Morata will go to Arsenal?
Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho, 30, says he was close to joining Manchester City before moving from Napoli to Stamford Bridge, and he still harbours ambitions of playing under Pep Guardiola. I didn't know about it. Will his wish come true in the end?

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/60447397

^ I think it's better for Cristiano Ronaldo to actually leave Manchester United. Probably a potential PSG move??? Maybe??? I would love to see Ronaldo and Messi in the same team actually. But maybe I'm just overthinking.
Main speculations so far point exactly on this direction. Many would like to see Ronaldo and Messi playing together before the end of their careers, although it's risky for PSG to try this combination, because when more than one stars are put side by side, there is a chance one can outshine the bright of another, so in the end they don't cooperate well together...
PSG needs to evaluate if the high costs of a player like Ronaldo will be really effective for increasing the team's performance, and not only as a marketing campaign to get the club hyped and visible on the news.
4415  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Giving Bitcoin to Employees on: February 19, 2022, 11:19:47 PM
I was thinking about how the conversion has been done as the price moves up and down. If the company will set an exact amount in BTC, that isn't unfair for the employees.
Anyways, whatever is their rules, I think everyone had already agreed with that.
Wages are fixed in fiat rates and paid proportionally in bitcoins, taking its currently price on the moment the payment is executed by the company. That is similar to how some signature campaigns work here. If bitcoin goes up, employees will receive less and if bitcoin goes down, the wages will be raised in btc value.
However, if employees fear volatility, it's not a good idea to receive payments in bitcoin, because they will have to constantly convert it back to fiat currency, as soon as they are paid, to avoid losing their money value during a bearish market.
4416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake Wagered $1.3 million in super bowl bet using bitcoin on: February 19, 2022, 09:13:35 PM
This is a good strategy to push crypto gambling to mainstream channels. Thanks to a famous celebrity betting with bitcoin publicly, many popular sites had to promote crypto gambling and Stake even if indirectly.

I don't know where the original idea of Drake sharing his bet on social media came from, but it must be said it was a smart one and the results are evident for anyone who check it on google.

Don't get it personally my friend but I don't understand why do people thanks to celebrities for betting with cryptocurrency publicly. Do you get some shares from that?  Grin
When celebrities bet with cryptocurrency or use crypto for any purchases publicly, they are promoting it to their audience that is composed by potential bitcoin adopters. That is: people who don't use bitcoin yet, but could eventually start using it, if correctly incentivized by the personalities they follow and respect. And when bitcoin adoption increases, every holders are benefited, since the demand is going to increase together with bitcoin's price. So that is why many crypto enthusiasts are glad for celebrities advertising crypto through online betting on their social medias.

Although not directly benefited by celebrities' bets by receiving shares of their winnings, we are indirectly benefited by increasements in cryptocurrencies' prices.

It was a joke about receiving shares (hope you are not upset about it). Now, I understand its Indirect benefit but they can do this by not only promoting their placed bets but just writing cool facts and advantages of crypto sphere on their twitter or instagram.
It's ok mate, there is no reason to be upset because of a joke. Wink

Well, they could promote facts and advantages of crypto adoption, but I guess it wouldn't have the same impact of inciting the audience's greedy and desire for money. Being honest, that is a much more shocking and noticiable kind of marketing, which is also echoed by gossip and news sites. So, this kind of propaganda spreads much faster and reach further on the internet.
4417  Economy / Economics / Re: [POLL] What is the most likely long term scenario for Bitcoin? on: February 19, 2022, 08:44:25 PM
Probably The leader of the crypto market, a niche currency and an alternative investment asset (like now) or Major investment asset, it will rival gold.

Inside crypto market, bitcoin is unstoppable and imbatible. It is the first and original cryptocurrency among all and even though at some point a new superior cryptocurrency in technology, cost-benefit and usage is developed and heavily adopted, bitcoin will keep its position as a rare good or relic with historical value, while becoming more and more scarce each new day.

And being extremely or maybe utopically optimistic, bitcoin can rise to the status of gold, although I think it's unlikely, because physical precious metals will be always above any kind of virtual goods.
4418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current discussion: World Cup qualifiers.. on: February 19, 2022, 08:15:57 PM
Egypt was lucky to have ended the AFCON in a penalty shoot out and still lost after all. Senegal would defeat Egypt with a clear margin because Egypt lack the squad to hold down senegal not even for a draw Mane would do what didn't have the chance to do against Egypt. Its only Salah i am seeing in Egypt and him alone can't move the team

Being prepared is different from Luck. Go and check the table and history, Egypt is very well known for winning AFCON 7 times, in fact, no country in Africa has done it the way Egypt has won but as I said, in football, as you have said it was luck but saying they lack the squad, it does fit Egypt players because they tried their best that day.
It was a first for Senegal, they can enjoy it for now, who knows by the next Afcon Mane would want to retire.  Tongue
Egypt doesn't have the most skilled players as a whole, but besides having a tier 1 player that is Salah, they are also a very strategical and organized team. And that is the reason they managed passing so many challenges at african cup, defeating stronger teams and reaching the finals. Moreover, the final game wasn't an easy one for Senegal. That match was unpredictable until the end exactly like the next game between Senegal and Egypt is also going to be. I don't underestimate Egypt. If they repeat their performance on the next match, but being a little more lucky this time, it's perfectly possible to overcome Senegal.

If possible, they shouldn't try pushing the game to the penalties, because that is too risky against aggressive goalscorers such as the senegalese.

4420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Still not satisfied with crypto games on: February 18, 2022, 09:27:47 PM
Getting bored with crypto gaming projects, I'd like to make money out of something fun to play but with crypto games it's really about the money you will make out of the games, I've not seen real good game Devs utilizing the power of blockchain or maybe it's my taste of games that im used to, I just still prefer spending more time on my Xbox than crypto games because it's more fun than crypto games

Everyone has their own taste. The purpose of those who play crypto games is to earn money, so whatever the game, there are a lot of users in those games. The current state of crypto games will change a lot in the near future as developers will continue to develop those games. You don't like games, maybe you don't need to earn money. But there are a lot of people in the crypto market who take the right opportunities at the right time.
For a crypto game to survive along the years the financial factor can't be the only incentive for players to keep active, otherwise it will last some months maximum and die right after due to the temporary hype. Players must feel inspired to keep playing because the game is fun and addicting. So, those people who don't need to earn money will keep playing for entertaining, while the rest will play for money. Then we have a perfect in-game balance or sustainability.

That is what actually happens inside most popular online games. People who can't spend too much time on it go through the easy route of buying items and gold from farmers, who are playing only for profit. That is RWT (real world trading), although it's forbidden by all these games.

Crypto games' developers just need to bring that reality to crypto universe, where RTW would be allowed, so everyone wins without breaking any rules.
