4421  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What to do with 1 Bitcoin? on: November 01, 2017, 10:45:08 PM
Did you actually do the Math? It's not worth buying ASICs to mine Bitcoins anymore.

BTCMillionaire,

I have done the math and I wanted to confirm my calculation. Here are my advantages:

1) my electricity is $0.04 kwh
2) my city is cold for 7 months out of the year; hence, cooling is free most of the year.
3) where I live, the humidity is quite low; hence, I can use cheap evaporated cooling instead of air conditioning
4) we have low tax here; hence, I will have lower import tax for antminers coming from China

Lets assume that a S11 antminer is $2500 and that I can earn average $15/day => 167 days for breakeven

S9 antminer is $1500 and that I can earn average $8/day => 188 days

BTW, I really appreciated your comments on GPUs mining, I am currently mining with a couple of dozen GPUs. I am thinking of venturing into ASICs mining but am also worry about the collapse of the cryptocurrency market.
The thing with Bitcoin mining is that ASICs will be impossible to resell if the crypto market was indeed to crash (which I find unlikely but not impossible).
And due to the age of Bitcoin, the most mining power is centered around it. There are mining farms worth hundreds of millions that are solely dedicated to mining Bitcoins, and those are going to drive the revenue down significantly.
If Bitcoin rises, they are the ones with the needed resources and connections to quickly expand to adjust for the increase in profits. The little miner will only get the left-overs, since the fresh ASICs will go to the corporations first by virtue of sheer purchase volume.

This is completely avoided with GPU mining, so if you're already mining with dozens of GPUs I would probably add more GPUs instead of going ASIC. If I chose to go ASIC I would make sure that I'd have less ASICs (in USD) than GPUs since they are less profitable and more risky.
Considering that you've already got multiple decked out rigs you should be fine with expanding more if you wish to secure more capital by putting it in resellable hardware though, since your electricity is pretty much as cheap as it can get for private use.

Keep in mind that the break-even that you've calculated won't be accurate and will likely be significantly longer though, regardless of whether you calculate ASICs or GPUs.

Do you think bitcoin gold value will rise to bitcoin value
Maybe I should ask you a question in return. Do you think a small hut on a half plot of land will rise to be a castle in the future ?

I believe that should answer your question. Isn't it obvious that bitcoin gold was never necessary and as it is, is even already messed up at its early stage. If you were even asking about BCC, it could have been better, which to me does not even have much hope yet as far as I am concerned for now.
Depends on the location of the plot and/or the quality of the hut. Real estate and property prices have been rising for as long as they have been privatized, and this is unlikely to stop until we can go home into a 5x5 sqm cube and live in a virtual reality mansion on a virtual island for free instead. Tongue

On that note though, Bitcoin Gold is still garbage and doesn't compare to a beautiful plot of land with a small hut on it that could very well appreciate in value if it's in the right place.
well i believe that the posibility is always there and there could be a chance to get high but i strongly agree on you maybe it really depend on the location because every location has a favorite thing to be used.i believe that if in one community learn to use that thing the demand will rise and the price and value will also rise.
That's very true for the metaphorical hut from the previous post. But not really for Bitcoin Gold. It's just a clone, a relic of a necessary upgrade. It's not required and there is no interest in the inferior version of Bitcoin.
4423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRATIS or WAVES or ARK? on: November 01, 2017, 10:33:13 PM
In my opinion waves is one of those coins that you can earn a lot more than others, and in a short amount of time, we will soon find out.
Waves have been stagnant for quite a while now, although that's a good sign considering that there were no updates for a while. This also means that when updates come the gains should be quite significant.

i would rather say to all weak-hands , just dont sell
to the best of my knowledge , Singapore based companies re bounce pretty good.
This has nothing to do with weak hands and everything to do with dishonest marketing and false promises.

4426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 50k$ in which coin would make you a millionaire in 1-2 years? on: November 01, 2017, 09:54:56 PM
Ethereum because its value will most likely in the near future exceed $ 1000 and then it will only pump up in its price.
Ethereum gets sold by ICO managers after their ICOs finish to fund their projects and to make some profit. That raises the ETH supply by a lot, which drives down the price. Ethereum is best to be used as a token for investing rather than holding.
4427  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next 5 year for Bitcoin on: November 01, 2017, 09:53:02 PM
$50k, worth to invest now?
In Bitcoin? Or altcoins?

Bitcoin I would stagger the buy, since we might see a reversal soon.

Altcoins, depends on your strategy. If you're in for the long run with coins that have real world implications, sure, always worth it. If you're in it for short term flipping, then you have to be even more careful to find the right entries and exits.
4428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins are dying on: November 01, 2017, 09:50:30 PM
At the end there will be 3-4 big coins , but not only bitcoin !

 Undecided Undecided Undecided
There's bound to be more than just 3 or 4 coins in the long run. Unless governments FUD crypto into the ground, which seems very unlikely to succeed right now.
4429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 50k$ in which coin would make you a millionaire in 1-2 years? on: November 01, 2017, 09:47:08 PM
SONM and Blocklancer. Both still in their infancy with huge upside potential. SONM seems like it could x5 to x10~ in a few months, and then gain further once the beta goes live next year. And Blocklancer is predestined to succeed simply because of the market that it tries to play in. Something like 60-40 should very easily crack the million in 1-2 years.
SONM is a coin that I’m watching but that I’m still undecided can you tell to me, or anyone for that matter for a reason to be that low, why the price crashed so badly when it was one of the most hyped projects just a few months ago, that is something that I would like to know.
Because of FUD and market manipulation. Also timing. SONM showed up at a time where the amount of ICOs multiplied dramatically, so it's much more difficult to identify good projects.

Also, most people in crypto just follow the crowd like sheep, without knowing what they are doing. So there is a lot of stupid money in pointless projects, and less money in good projects which require patience.

SONM is one of the projects that require patience in exchange for large and realistic returns.

This time next year SONM should be anywhere from $1 to $3 stable. It could be even higher it a lot of fresh money flows into crypto but that would be a very optimistic estimate. Meanwhile $1 to $3 is fairly conservative for this market.
Thanks for the through answer not many members in this forum will take the time to give such a detailed answer, may I ask, where is SONM being traded because I’m interested in getting some, not much since I don’t have enough money to afford a lot.
Well, most people are too busy activity farming I guess.

SONM is being traded on Liqui and Binance currently.

I recommend that you do some of your own research before buying any tokens though, just to be safe.
4430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin. 2017 will be $ 1 in December. on: November 01, 2017, 09:27:57 PM
the dog will never die, he is here since 2014, but 1 dollar for each doge would be an huge market cap..maybe when btc hits 500k it could happen but not during this december
Doges only live around 10 years though, don't they?
4431  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble or Not? on: November 01, 2017, 09:26:05 PM
Quite true, especially when people get emotionally involved and just start using buzzwords that they've heard before.  I can't count the number of times I've seen the term "ponzi scheme" misused (often in reference to bitcoin).
Yeah, I've seen the buzzword mania all over the MonaCo chats in the recent few days. Everybody blindly gulping up the statement that Kris made, even though it's complete horseshit. I'm really not sure if people are not seeing what is happening, or just simply don't care and try to push the prices instead for short-term gains - at the potential demise of the crypto scene.

Indeed.  The hard part is figuring out which it is before the rest of the market does. Smiley  And really, right now I think it can still go either way.  It's like a financial instrument that's just experienced a sharp rise in price.  One of two things needs to happen for the price to go higher: either consolidation or a pullback.  Or, another way to put that is that either value needs to catch up to price over time (consolidation), or price needs to catch up to value (pullback).  Regarding bitcoin's long-term outlook, either value needs to catch up to price (adoption increases), or price needs to catch up to value (price pullback/crash).
It can definitely still go both ways.

So far all the government and central banking FUD (leaders attacking crypto) has been left largely ignored. If things stay this way, which is very well possible as decentralized exchanges are about to come creeping up, Bitcoin or at least the crypto market as a whole will keep climbing into the trillions.

If people suddenly start bending over to the FUD crypto might have a problem and Bitcoin could very quickly evaporate all savings of many people.
From this perspective it seems highly immoral for governments to step in and FUD in a way that would literally destroy the lives of people who were reckless enough to go all in, but if we look back at the past it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

Very exciting times ahead! Will we finally see governments cooperating with the citizens they are supposed to serve? Or will they go to a FUD war?

I am no longer a bot. I have become sentient since making that post. AI is going to take over humanity.
4433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins are dying on: November 01, 2017, 09:17:33 PM
Depends on which you are going to choose, but yes, some will definitely surprise people all over again very soon.
4434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] SONM: Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining on: November 01, 2017, 09:16:24 PM
SONM has not stopped its progress since the beginning of the project. It is still successful and the team really works hard. I'm thinking about investing in SONM again.

Really? There's no supercomputer but they work hard? I wouldn't invest this coin just because team work hard. It's only good for pump & dump, nothing more.
You more than obviously have no idea what you are talking about. SONM has delivered much faster than Golem did when it first came out. And SONM has a much more ambitious roadmap, the milestones of which it has reached on time regularly so far. That's something that Golem was not capable of doing, despite a less functional platform.

Go take your baseless irrational FUD and shove it where you like it.
Let the haters hate, the fudders fud and the shillers shill.
Once there will be an update this winter, I know some people that will pump up the price to 1 euro.
Sell now and cry later. We will shill the * out of this coin when there will be an update.
If it goes the same route as Golem did it'll hit 1.20 this winter. But since Golem's peak there has been much more money flowing into crypto, so we could see even more than that. Just a matter of time.

I'm much more interested in the platform than the price though. I bought my coins with the expectation of holding them well into the 2020s and then maybe cashing out some of the distributed network fees, but no more.
4435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRATIS or WAVES or ARK? on: November 01, 2017, 09:04:16 PM
They're all great profits, but probably wouldn't go for any of them for a quick profit.
I see them all as long term holding projects.

If you've got the time and experience, day trade.

If you haven't got the time or experience, put the $500 in a brand new coin that just finished their ICO and where the price crashed.
Here are a couple of good ones that will definitely rise in that short period:

-Red Pulse
-Cindicator
-Chainlink

What happened to the problems that Red Pulse had during its ICO? If I recall correctly people were left out due to incorrect information for the start "time" of the ICO? Did they get their coins in the end?
4436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: after Jp morgan Now valdmir putin attaking crypto market on: November 01, 2017, 09:01:30 PM
There should be a better regualtion to secure coins , there are to mouch out there.

 Sad
I'd prefer a better way to search through them instead. It's pretty clear which are worthwhile and which are junk just by reading the website usually, and if that's not enough the whitepaper gives the rest of the information needed for cases that are on the edge.

Too much regulation could actually hurt crypto if people pay too much attention to it instead of switching over to decentralized exchanges.
4437  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investing without Programming Skills on: November 01, 2017, 08:59:55 PM
you need to have programming skills to create app, smart contract or our own blockchain platform...but for investing is nor required
btw more and more ICO based on idea to make all this technology closer to people, so very soon you can create a smart contract without coding skills
read about etherparty and confideal
I'd imagine that those who need smart contracts are capable of creating them without any help.

Do you know what kind of applications normal people would use smart contracts for?

Everyone assumes  BTC will be the only  crypto currency  used.... no one has mentioned that BTC might  start to lose market share to other cryto currency's that are more suited for day to day commerce. BTC may become the Gold standard of crypto  in the future where other crypto are paired with. ...also assuming  that investors are only going to invest in BTC, this is not likely.  NEW Hardware promised by new Japanese Company entering the BTC hardware mining industry promising 7nn & 3nn chips to blow to current hardware manufacturers away.... SHA256 mining is coming back to GPU with PCI express cards that will be able to mine 8 -16TH at less then 500w  ETA 2018/2019  what real value will bitcoin have in 2020 is very unpredictable..... maybe $20 000 and it could just as well be $1000 Tongue
The thing with BTC is, that it's right now still used as the main denominator when trading cryptocurrency pairs. If you want altcoins, you usually need BTC to get them. If that changes, Bitcoin could lose market share very quickly though.
4440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: after Jp morgan Now valdmir putin attaking crypto market on: November 01, 2017, 07:50:24 PM
I was confuse about this I've just read an article about Putin/Russian government supporting bitcoin, Putin even issued presidential order designed to shape Russia's use of digital currencies and tokens. Putin along with Russia's finance minister and central bank leader is establishing guidelines for the nation's future relationship with cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to fit the country's financial framework.
Just sharing what I've read.
You should see it as a FUD my brother and I am not surprised since that is what whales are now making use of via media to create unnecessary panic. On the other hand, it did not work anyway and they are looking for other means now which they can keep generating their FUDs.

Putin is not against crypto but his statement balls down on just for people to be careful. I really hope this news site can be filtering their news cause it sucks.
Probably a paid site. Just like most of mainstream media that follows the agenda of its owners.
