4421  Other / Meta / Re: Prejudice against signature campaigns on: December 22, 2019, 01:08:36 PM
I am sure there isn't anyone in the forum hate a user because of participating in a signature campaign. Users hate those who spam and doesn't matter if the spammer is participating in a campaign or not. As long as a user makes constructive posts, there is no problem.
There are many users in the forum that help the forum to be a better place, make useful posts and cause the forum to be more helpful for others. Signature campaigns can encourage these users to spend more time in the forum. Maybe a user cannot spend more than an hour in day in the forum, gradually get tired and leave the forum. But signature campaigns makes that user to spend more time in the forum. As long as the user, makes constructive posts, this helps the forum and the user as well.
Generally, signature campaigns are very helpful to the forum.
4422  Economy / Reputation / Re: Top 1000 merit receivers who were not active the past 30 days. on: December 20, 2019, 10:24:37 PM
From my personal experience I'll say the things of the real world have tired them down recently and some individuals aren't that good at multitasking.
Some of them might be very busy and that's probably why they don't visit the forum. The bear market can be a reason too. But they should have logged in to their account at least one time in the past month. I cannot understand why a user who used to made constructive posts should leave the forum and don't even login. I guess some of them have lost their access to their accounts.
4423  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 20, 2019, 08:25:27 PM
-snip-
But if we revoke all merits which came from airdropped sMerit, then what do we do with all the sMerit that came from those merits? Do we revoke them too?
I add another question.
And how to know whether the merit user X sent to user Y was an airdropped smerit or an earned smerit?
4424  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should participants by tagged if BM tagged? on: December 20, 2019, 04:08:59 PM
...
If participants consciously go to work in the same campaign with a fraudster (to advertise a service that is probably also fraudulent) then should participants be tagged?
When it is proved that a new project is fraud and will be announced in the thread of the bounty, all new participants and those who continue to participate in the bounty should receive a negative tag.

Who should announce that a project is a scam?
Scams are not moderated in the forum. Any announcement regarding a scam is not official.

Look at this as a sample: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5184340.msg53109889#msg53109889

Members of the forum have the right to give any other user negative or positive trust. It's their right and no one can force them to change their mind.
You can give negative trust to anyone you think is a scammer and anyone promoting a project you think is scammer. It's your right.
But in my opinion, generally it's not a good idea. It is never officially announced that a project is scam.
Assume that you believe that a project is a scam and I don't agree with you. What should I do? I don't know whether I should participate in that campaign or not. On the one hand, I don't think the project is a scam. On the other hand, I'm afraid I get negative trust from you.

Anyway, As I said, members of the forum have the right to give negative trust to any other user that they think are harmful to the forum.

4426  Other / Meta / Re: Most time online list, is it a bug? on: December 19, 2019, 10:53:01 PM
It will show up as online for 10 to 15 minutes even without any activity but total online time doesn't count if you didn't refresh the page for every minute.(correct me if I am wrong)
That's very easy to check.
Open a page, do nothing until 2 minutes after that. Then refresh the page.
You will see that "total time logged in" will increase 2 minutes.
4427  Other / Meta / Re: Trivia: 100000th merited post on: December 19, 2019, 10:05:03 PM
Thank you suchmoon for this enjoyable contest.
You are really creative.

Honestly, I couldn't find the answer if I didn't know the merit sender is bones261. Thank you morvillz7z or I didn't know 180,000 posts have been merited.

It's about 1 year and 11 months the merit system has been implemented. So, I expected that post to be made on January 2019.

I checked merits sent by bones261 in that month considering 2 facts:
1. bones261 should be the only user that have merited that post. (Read this post.)
2. The merit receiver should be well-known.

I checked many posts. If there were no other user that had merited the post, I visited the profile of merit receiver to check whether he has made many posts in Altcoin sections or not.
I didn't found any qualified post until I saw the merit sent to mprep.
I was sure mprep is the well-known user suchmoon was talking about.
4428  Other / Meta / Re: Trivia: 100000th merited post on: December 19, 2019, 09:16:34 PM
Merit sender: bones261
Merit receiver: mprep

As you are asking about 100000th merited post not 100000th merit and the sender of the merit, so that post has received merit only from one user.
Am I right?
4431  Other / Meta / Re: Most time online list, is it a bug? on: December 19, 2019, 10:02:30 AM
You can be online using more than 1 account at a same time.

I'm talking about 1 account, I think it was obvious no?
Sorry, my bad. I meant more than one device.
Yes, you can login to your account using more than 1 device.

But the answer is Yes, you can use the same account on multiple devices at the same time but if you want to be online you need to keep refreshing the pages for every minute.
Not every minute.
I think the maximum time you should refresh a page or open a new page in to remain online is about 10 minutes.
4432  Economy / Reputation / Stealing signature design on: December 19, 2019, 08:55:14 AM
I don't know whether using signature design of another user or a campaign is against the rules or not. But I think it's kind of plagiarism and it should be against the rules.

This user is using design of Cryptotalk.

Archived.

4433  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: December 19, 2019, 07:49:36 AM
It's always best to bet early. If you bet very fast, you'll have a 100x multiplier (basically double your profit) regardless of option. As it's mutual betting, the odds you have will go up or down as more bets go into the pool. The closing odds is what really matters; before that, the odds shown are only an estimate and likely not very accurate.

A user who bets very early (with 100x multiplier) has the chance to win twice the user who bets on a same outcome at the last second (with 0x multipler). But we cannot say if you bet very early (with 100x multiplier) you win twice the case there was no time weight multiplier.

A user who bets with 100x or 90x multiplier has the chance to win extra money. But the user who bets with 0x or 10x multiplier actually earns less than he could win in a betting without time weight multiplier.

The extra money that goes to users who bet with 100x or 90x multiplier, comes from pockets of those who bet with 0x or 10x multiplier.

If you bet with 100x multiplier, you don't double your profit. Maybe, you increase your winning by 50%.
If you bet with 10x multiplier, you don't increase your profit by 10%. Actually, your winning is decreased.
4434  Other / Meta / Re: Most time online list, is it a bug? on: December 18, 2019, 09:00:45 PM
Maybe it will if someone open their BTT account of five different devices?

I had checked this using two different devices before.

I logged in my account on two different devices simultaneously. Refreshed a page by both devices continuously. Both was contributing to "Total time logged in". In every minute, my "Total time logged in" increased by 2 minutes.

When you're logged in but inactive the system considers the user as offline (because it doesn't know what you're doing) if I'm correct.
If you don't refresh or open a new page after a certain time, you will be considered offline.

If I am connected to the forum with a device and decide to connect with another device. Isn't the system supposed to automatically disconnect me from the first device? (for security reason or something like that)
You can be online using more than 1 account device at a same time.
4435  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 18, 2019, 08:25:14 PM
That's not the point though. I'm not spamming one liners but any posts I have made in Bitcoin discussion have received no merit. I've only gotten merit for posting in meta/politics and society which tend to be more hot button topics rather than constructive discussion about cryptos, for example. Merit is not a good measurement of contribution and there are plenty of members who post constructively as a norm that shouldn't be posted in this thread. There'd be way too many replies to post. Nearly every legendary member of the forum posts non-spam and should earn merit for every 10 posts they make by default because they're the last type of members to post spam.

You have received only 4 merits. You shouldn't expect your received merits to have been distributed through all sections.
Be constructive. I am sure you will get merit. As o_e_l_e_o suggested, report unmerited posts that you think they deserve to be merited, I am sure you they will get merit if they deserve.
If you think you have already been constructive but haven't received merits you deserved:
1. Be patience.
2. Continue to be constructive and even more constructive.
3. Don't post for merit

I understand that, but merit is displayed as one overall number. Not split into merit and sMerit. So when merit decays, your overall number decreases and now you lose overall merit through sending merit, and decaying. This would certainly act as a disincentive to send merit if you are now losing merit two ways.
I recommend you to visit the following thread created by DdmrDdmr and participate in the poll.
Merit - simple poll on operational fundamentals

4436  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: December 18, 2019, 02:27:46 PM
No no I mean the Outcome ODDS  is i it fixed when I bet or can it change ? Ok ok the outcome odds change everytime . Sometime the other soccer is better. But when I placed a Bet, can then the Outcome odds change ?

If I'm not mistaken, the outcome odds (which was 1.44) is fixed the moment you bet, so anyone betting after you (or if you decide to bet later) will have lesser multipliers.

But the opposite can also happen (i.e. multiplier value increase after you bet).

For example, 3 days before the match, you bet on the Spurs VS Liverpool so naturally many will bet on Liverpool, making the odds 1.44, assuming you want Liverpool to win.

But 1 day before the match, Liverpool's goalkeeper suddenly had a leg injury so after your bet, the multiplier of Liverpool increases to 1.89. Even if Liverpool wins, you will be paid on the 1.44 multiplier.

This is exactly how odds work in different sports betting platforms I know. But I think there is a difference in Freebitco and the odds can change even after you make the bet.
Here is what the website says about outcome odds.
"Estimated odds for this outcome. Actual odds will be calculated after betting ends for this event."
4437  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 17, 2019, 11:41:02 PM
I could see decaying airdropped merit, though I'm not convinced of it currently. If it was done, it may be best to do something like this:
 - Your current activity score as of <whenever this change would be done> is recorded, which I'll call EPOCH_ACTIVITY.
 - Your merit score is defined as max(0, AIRDROPPED_MERIT-(CURRENT_ACTIVITY-EPOCH_ACTIVITY)/7) + EARNED_MERIT.
In this case all active users will lose their airdropped merits at a same rate.
The rate of losing airdropped merits can be a function of earned merits in the last X days too.
For example, if someone had received 500 airdropped merits and has also earned 500 merits doesn't lose airdropped merits. Because this user deserved those airdropped merits.
4438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me understand how to read the blockchain transaction history.. on: December 17, 2019, 10:33:14 PM
Didn't understand why this is the case. If the sender pays from different addresses, should the system not make each into a seperate transaction? What is the cut-off for deciding which sends are consolidated into one transaction?
We can have several inputs and outputs in a single transaction.

Quote
I'm fascinated by the fact that we can set the fee. Suppose I set it to the minimum (or zero...?) is the transaction guarenteed to go through (with the delay)? Thanks.
The fee should be higher than zero, so the transaction is included in a block.
You can use the link below for the calculation of the required fee.

By the way, making multiple posts in a row is against forum rules.

4439  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: December 17, 2019, 10:08:15 PM
Does anyone know how merit ratio is calculated?
As it is said on the website, merit ratio is Merit sent/received ratio. I checked some profiles. That doesn't seem to be true.
For example, Theymos has sent 11850 merits and has received 6273 merits. So merit ratio should be 11850/6273= 1.89. But the merit ratio is 0.84

4440  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 17, 2019, 07:52:42 PM
There are many legendary members that are wasting their time in altcoin bounties without any income.
The issue is not their income; I couldn't care less if these altcoins all turn out to be worthless (and most do). The issue is the spam they create in pursuit of said income.
Yes, But the lower their income is, the less they spam.
If there is no income and there is no benefit in spamming, they will leave the forum. They are here only to join campaigns, spam and earn money.

Can you imagine the amount of merit selling will happen once theymos will drop a bomb for something like this?
If Theymos decides to make changes, I don't think he announces anything before that.
