4441  Other / Meta / Re: Is a user able to Trust/Distrust even when they are banned? on: August 07, 2022, 07:58:59 AM
It is not an oversight, and to be sincere, I think the feature is a good one when you consider some situations which leads users into leaving trust and distrust feedbacks, some of this situations are not permanent and so the trusts or distrust earned based on that situation shouldn't be permanent too, a user who left a distrust rating on a situation that later got resolved either needs to edit or delete his distrust rating, and if the user who left the distrust rating is banned, it becomes a problem for the user who's account was distrusted by the banned user.....
So indeed the ability for banned user to still edit or delete their trust rating even while their account is in banned state, is really useful.
I agree with you that it's a good thing to give even banned members a chance to delete posted trust feedback. But I seriously doubt that people that get banned would care about things like that. I am leaning more towards thinking that a banned user would do their best to get a pardon. And if that doesn't work, they wouldn't care less what happens to the forum, including things like trust. Do we have any stats how many banned members did such trust changes? A percentage maybe? It's probably a difficult thing to find but I know we have many stats enthusiasts here. LoyceV?
4442  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: August 07, 2022, 07:23:54 AM
I just had a glance at Blockstream Green wallet, since it's one of the reproducible mobile wallets on https://walletscrutiny.com/.
Apparently, Blockstream actually invented shared self-custody, before Block??

Blockstream Green offers the option to secure your wallet with our Multisig Shield. One key is held on your device and another on our servers, enabling you to protect your wallet with two-factor authentication. Timelocks or a third backup key ensure you always retain full ownership of your funds.

Has anyone looked into this further?
I might be focusing too much on semantics here, but it looks like an optional feature to me based on how they said it. We offer you the option to use Multisig Shield... etc., etc. Maybe it works in a different way as well. I am just guessing here, I am not agreeing with any type of shared custody.

With the Multisig Shield, the user seems to have access to two signing keys while Blockstream keeps one. That's similar to what Electrum does with its 2FA. It's an optional feature that you don't have to use. And even if you do, you can still recover your coins and get access to your bitcoins since you have 2 out of 3 signing keys.
4443  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: August 07, 2022, 07:11:07 AM
What also the OP never said is if there is even a valid private key on there.
OP can't know if the private key is valid without trying to import it into a wallet, which he shouldn't do because he would be compromising the security of the coins. He could try to sign a message with the keys but that would again require that he plays around with the private key. Better not do any of that.

Than judging by your definition we should not have word FOUND at all in dictionary, and it should be replaced with STOLEN.  Roll Eyes
You are being very weird about your definition of finding. You can find a mushroom in the forest and take it and probably no one would care. You can't find a bike leaning on a tree or a wall and say I found it so it's now mine. I didn't steal it from anyone, it was just there when I was walking by. Finding and not taking it or not keeping it for yourself is totally different from finding and stealing an item.

Respectfully, I'm not overly keen to divulge any additional info regarding my discovery than I already have. I have identified someone locally with the skills to search on my behalf for the original owner of the paper wallet.  I'll update when I know more.
I can only agree with what o_e_l_e_o said. Without knowing much about Bitcoin, why do you think you have the skills, knowledge, or experience to identify the right person that can help you in your quest?
4444  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: LTC CASINO Resolved. on: August 07, 2022, 06:49:01 AM
I removed the negative feedback and removed my support for the flag. Op is already receiving his money so the case is resolved, there is no need to change it to neutral
The case is in the process of being solved. It will be fully solved when everything they owe has been paid out.

I must missed your earlier post. I am more into removing the tags since they started paying. They already know the tags are pressure for them and if they refuse to pay at any stage then tags will be given again. Removing the tags give them access to continue their business. People who check feedback (I believe most do not care to check reference for update) they will consider the casino is still a scam and did not came to a negotiation, resulting not joining them. Eventually they lose business. For a business it's very important that they are in constant cash flow so that they can pay their players even if they have huge bankroll.
They have told so many lies in this thread and accused OP and other companies of being fraudsters without any shred of evidence. They said they would be transparent about their findings - they lied. They said they would release data publicly - they lied. They said they would give their findings to a mod to check. When it was suggested they send everything to LoyceV, they went quiet.

I don't trust anything that comes out of the mouths of anyone close to LTC Casino. I consider them a threat to the community and Bitcointalk players irrespective of their decision to start paying OP their win. I can remove my support for the flag prematurely right now if they show us the data and the "proof" they gathered after 3 months of investigation. Since they won't do that, and I doubt they have any case against the player except their own suspicions, nothing is going to change. If they were able to find anything they wouldn't have started paying out OP.
4445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Educating people on Bitcoin for free on: August 06, 2022, 01:18:33 PM
Well, show him a good result (your profit for example) or show him how convenient it is especially overseas transactions.
Even though we all want to see big profits and green charts, that shouldn't be the main talking point when introducing Bitcoin to a newbie. Bitcoin goes through cycles and ups and downs. When the person you showed your profits to sees their portfolio is worth less today compared to when they bought the coins (and sooner or later it will happen), they will associate bitcoin to something negative and connected to money loss.

Your other suggestion is better. Talk about the network's strengths. The irreversibility, fungibility, lack of geographical borders, permissionless transactions, transparency, etc.
4446  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: August 06, 2022, 12:49:58 PM
<Snip>
Franky you are forgetting about something. Let's put the terminology aside or if you want, let's call it a bitnote. So OP found a bitnote. Maybe person A created said bitnote and gave it to person B, and person B is the one that lost it or had it stolen. You could be right that whoever created the bitnote didn't want to keep it for themselves. But that doesn't mean the physical item wasn't given to the other recipient who now no longer has access to it.

easternklaas hasn't written anything for a few days, but I am sure he/she is still checking this thread. @easternklaas can you tell us what is written on it besides the keys? You mentioned a logo and a website. Share some more info about it.
4447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: August 06, 2022, 12:29:59 PM
Even the porn industry is just like that. A pop-up question will appear asking "Are you 18 years old or above?" Just click the "Yes" button and voila, you are in.
When you want it to appear that you are doing something to prevent those who shouldn't be using your services, you come up with something useless as what you just described. Click here and promise us that you are over 18. Ops, wrong answer. Try again. Oh, wrong answer again. Try the other option. There you go. Congratulations, you are in! Who is that supposed to trick anyway. Even if you say you are below 18, you can just refresh and say you are above 18 the next time the site asks you.
4448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: August 06, 2022, 09:16:55 AM
Gambling should not be banned, but it should be regulated in such a way that it prevents those who aren't supposed to gamble to gamble. That means proper restrictions for banned territories and thorough checks to ensure the person is not underaged. What we have now in the crypto gambling scene is a joke. Many platforms don't perform any checks at all. They refer you to their TOS. You are allowed to sign up, deposit, and lose millions of dollars if you want. But God forbid you win something. That's when they will will investigate who you are, where you are from, how you won, and what is the source of the funds you gambled with.

A lot depends on your family/guardians and the environment in which you live in. Your parents are supposed to set an example and show you the way. Right and wrong should be leant from them. Focus on making a better life for yourself and those close to you and not on self-destructing activities.
4449  Other / Meta / Re: [INFO]Gambling Board Spams; Concerns, Solutions & Suggestions on: August 06, 2022, 08:55:22 AM
However, I already report the post

12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting topics in the local language boards if they're translated and re-posting marketplace topics in the altcoin boards if altcoins are accepted).
But the question is: will a report calling upon that rule help and have the thread deleted? Since no action has been taken yet, looks like it won't. Does that even constitute duplicate posting in the eyes of the moderators? If I make a post in this thread and I copy it and post it somewhere else on a different forum board, that's duplicate posting. Having multiple threads about the same topic, like the Champions League in this case, might not be considered a rule violation.
4450  Other / Meta / Re: Post funny/clever usernames here on: August 06, 2022, 08:37:21 AM
even though it's not super clever. It's definitely unique though. Smiley
I like it. But I am confused. The forum doesn't show you your user ID during the registration. Did you create a different username and then PMed theymos and ask to have it changed after you created an account or what happened there?

How about a retarded name, like... well RetardedName.
4451  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak on: August 06, 2022, 08:26:43 AM

4453  Other / Meta / Re: Is a user able to Trust/Distrust even when they are banned? on: August 06, 2022, 08:14:31 AM
I am not sure if that is an oversight by theymos and the admin team or if it was intentionally done that way. Maybe they can comment here and tell us what is the benefit of banned users have the ability to make such changes. I was always under the impression that getting banned puts your account in a read-only mode where you can browse the forum, read your old PMs, and it stops there. Not sure why trust changes are possible.
4454  Other / Meta / Re: News: Want alerts for mentions/quotes/replies? Use SuperNotifier! on: August 06, 2022, 07:46:35 AM
I don't think the forum (aka theymos) will directly advertise any such service. And if so, why SuperNotifier and not one of the other bots or services offered by our forum members? Maybe no one asked to have their site advertised. I am sure that if you PMed theymos, he would tall you straight if he would be interested in giving it such promotion, and if not, why not. Do it and let us know what he says.
4455  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: August 06, 2022, 07:37:44 AM
Ledger is responsible for making shitcoins more popular and giving people false sense of security, but personally I am not expecting anything from them.
Hey, if you like using shitcoins on your ledger device, than enjoy while it lasts.
People shouldn't rely on what Ledger says, or what you say, or what I say. They should do their own research before they invest in anything. Including Bitcoin. For everything else, they have only themselves to blame. Not me, not you, and not Ledger for having a blog that is filled with promotional content. I couldn't care what is on their blog. I don't read it or consider it before investing into anything. Any company that has a blog has certainly done their part in promoting something. That goes for Trezor and their blog as well.

As for me and shitcoins. Not that it is anyone's concern but my portfolio is made up almost entirely out of bitcoin. I guess their promotional materials aren't as good as you initially thought. Wink I said almost because I store a few alts that I need for other purposes and ventures. But they don't fall into the shitcoin category.
4456  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which hardware wallet to buy? on: August 06, 2022, 07:26:01 AM
The user in question mentioned using the Nano S with Capital wallet and when I checked, I couldn't find a single way to connect it to "any kind" of hardware wallet!
- On top of that, he/she was the first user to post about that particular wallet on this forum.
Everything is possible. For all we know, that might have been his first shill of the wallet and more will come in the future.
The wallet is actually more of an exchange than an app to store your coins. I searched their FAQ and the blog and you are right, there is no mention of Ledger or hardware wallets at all.

Maybe we just misunderstood what Retiicle was trying to say.
I’m using Ledger Nano S along with Capital Wallet (a hot wallet). The combination of a cold and hot wallet is always better.
Maybe all he wanted to say was that he uses Ledger to store his coins and he gets them from this Capital wallet. "Along" doesn't necessarily mean that the two services are connected and used together. Who knows.
4457  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Altcoin novosti on: August 06, 2022, 06:53:55 AM
evo ovde, ipak je Slope web3 novcanik napravio problem, slali su seed-frazu kao obican tekst ka aplikacijama koje su integrisane sa novcanikom.
Kakva nemar i nebriga za sigurnost sredstava korisnika. Angry

Prije dosta godina sam pogledao legendarnu seriju i jednu od najboljih koju sam ikad gledao The Wire.

4459  Other / Meta / Re: How important are you on this forum? on: August 05, 2022, 06:27:15 PM
If I am not wrong theymos mentioned multiple times that he replied to most of the PM sent by the newbies so obviously he will reply to anyone is there something to reply for.
Exactly. If you ask the guy a legitimate question or you have some valid concerns, he isn't going to let you hang out to dry. If there are problems or bugs on the forum, anyone can talk to him. You can even get a bounty if it's something important. But if it's not something urgent or it it's a topic he cares very little about, you will be ignored. I wonder what he does if someone PMs him and breaks some rules in the process? Does he just ignore the person or bans them from the forum immediately?
4460  Other / Meta / Re: How important are you on this forum? on: August 05, 2022, 01:27:59 PM
I see myself far from irreplaceable and wouldn't call myself essential or even important to the Bitcointalk way of life. I possess certain qualities, but they are nowhere close to what the top guns show here on a daily basis. Proper problem-solvers are the kind of people who would be sorely missed if they left. Everyone else is more or less replaceable.

Don't look at theymos and the mods as entities from other dimensions. They are just regular folks and they post in discussions that interest them. In all my years here, I have never checked where theymos is mostly active, but I did it now. I am actually surprised that most of his posts are in Meta. I don't come across them that often unless it's something very important to Bitcointalk. I imagined theymos being more of a P&S kind of guy and even though he posts there, it's not as frequent as I though.
