4441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Difficulty on: April 14, 2021, 02:54:23 PM
Mining is turning into a business for large companies. The heshrate is growing very much, so miners with a small number of video cards will soon not be profitable to mine.
Even now, so that the profit does not decrease, you need to buy new video cards every 2 weeks.
And also, many manufacturers produce special video cards for mining, so the Ethereum hash rate will grow rapidly.
4442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Raveos vs Windows on: April 14, 2021, 02:36:56 PM
I am using a team red miner. If the hashrate of your video card is 8 MH/s, then the profit will be 5.5 monet in 24 hours.
Don't look at the minimum and maximum values, because these are intermediate data.
Use the calculator https://whattomine.com/ and enter your data to calculate the profit
4443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rx580 8gb @400$ on: April 14, 2021, 01:58:16 PM
I'm selling a four months old rx580 8gb memory for 400$, is this a reasonable price to sell this gpu ? I'm selling because of personal reason, though I bought at 350$ and I've use for mining since I bought it
If your price is reasonable, your graphics card will be bought within 1 hour. If you have purchase documents and a guarantee, then this will greatly help you in the sale.
I would even start selling this video card for a higher price, but first look at the prices for similar video cards on websites that sell used goods.
Not everyone could buy goods from large marketplaces such as ebay.
4444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eth Largement Pill on P104-100 ??? on: April 12, 2021, 05:09:26 PM
GeForce GTX1080, 1080ti these are the most famous video cards
Titan X (pascal) and Titan Xp also have DDR5X memory.
P102-100 also has GDDR5X but I don't know how EthLargementPill will work with this video card.
DDR 5 memory will definitely not be supported.

Power limit-  Minimum (71)
Core +50
Memory +650
40-41MH

Electricity consumption from the wall 870 watts, Power supply Silver 80+ (5x2070)
I read on the forums about the problems of these video cards, the solution to the problems was in the BIOS firmware.
With a phoenix miner, these video cards work great, I have not tried other options.

I'm starting to think it's something in the BIOS, too.
Is it safe using phoenix miner? I've nothing against it, but I read that NiceHash cancelled from their list for safety reasons.
As @batsonxl asked, what's your driver version?
Thanks everyone for your help!

Does it make any sense to wait for bear market to start building mining rigs instead? I know profits will be very very low but I'm running on free electricity which is green energy so I don't pay for electricity bill and another advantage that I think I would get here is getting the cards for cheap price
Try to build a farm with inexpensive components. If you have free electricity, then you can purchase AMD R390, which consume a lot of electricity, but give a result of 28-30 megahesh.
Or look for other inexpensive graphics cards that you can quickly sell on the secondary market if prices drop.
For example RX470 4 GB pays off in 5 months on free electricity.

Those GPUs are still overpriced, at least in my area. Even the RX 470 4GB are overpriced right now. I sold a bunch of these throughout the years at $80-100USD and now they are $150-$200 USD. The R9 390 is a rare GPU and commands a pretty high premium, gamers seem to love them.

The 4GB only mines at a fast speed if you keep it in the x16 slot in the motherboard. So you are limited to 1 GPU per motherboard. Doesn't make sense to have too many of those. Hence not worth buying them at $200.

There really aren't any decent deals out there. Even the R9 280X is getting pricy and those are like 8 year old GPUs.
AMD R390 is not the best graphics card for gamers.
And for mining, it is quite a good solution on free electricity. The RX 470 won't cost less than $ 100.
They are profitable to buy and can be quickly sold on the secondary market.
Buying RTX 30X0 or AMD 5X00 or 6X00 is not a good decision now. Ethereum developers promised to speed up the algorithm change.
4447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New to mining. Setting up new rig and need help. on: April 11, 2021, 01:41:19 PM
For rtx 3060 you can use molex raisers. Connect the raisers with a molex cable from the power supply.
For the rtx 2080, you only need to use 6 pin raisers because this video card uses a lot of power.
If there are not enough connectors on one power supply, then you need to buy a second power supply or order a server power supply with the required number of required connectors.

4449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it safe to mine on a full (unpowered) x16 riser? on: April 10, 2021, 03:34:15 PM
I will answer with your terms.
full x16 riser are used to build farms on two types of video cards 470, 480, and 4 GB analogs for mining Ethereum using a lol miner and 3060 so that the Ethereum hash rate does not decrease.
Otherwise, you can use regular x1 raisers. This does not affect the hashrate in any way.
for your video card, be sure to use 6 pin raisers, for example
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002082548102.html?
do not use sata raisers

Why are full x16 riser need for 470/480 cards?  PCI-E 1x work fine from my experience, is there something that running them in a 16x helps with?
You have not carefully read my post.
470/480 with 8 GB memory perfectly mine Ethereum with x1 raisers.
If you want to mine Ethereum on 470/480 with 4 GB memory using a lol miner, then you need to use 16x raisers and motherboards with PСI-E 8x or 16x. Most standard motherboards have PCI-E x16 slot speeds:
x16 in single channel, x8 + x8 / x16 + x4 / in dual channel or x16 + x4 + x4 in three-channel.
2 cards can be installed without raisers, and a raiser may be required to install a third card

4450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using SATA cable to power mounted fans? on: April 10, 2021, 03:18:28 PM
Hi Bitcointalk community,

I would like to know if my thought processes is correct.
For my 6 GPUs mining rig I have the following PSU: EVGA 1000 GQ PSU and I have 5 DC 12V mounted fans (with molex cables).

I have used the 3 EVGA molex cables to plug 3 fans. The problem I have is that I have 2 more fans to plug on the PSU. Is it correct and safe to use the EVGA SATA cable with a female Molex to Male SATA Adapter to plug the 2 other fans ?

Thank you
You don't have to use adapters. Cut off the adapters on the fans. On the sata - molex adapter, cut off the molex plugs and wires other than yellow and black.
Clean the terminals, connect accordingly, solder the connections and insulate them.
Your 5 fans will be connected to one wire (35 watts), this method will save your mining farm from unnecessary wires and adapters
4451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best AMD driver for mining? on: April 10, 2021, 03:02:53 PM
Use the lastest amd blockchain driver if you aren't into gaming or try finding BIOS for your gpu and flash, this is the most stress relieve solution instead of battling with clock speed
Blockchain Compute Driver for Windows is currently not relevant for mining, because it does not support a dag file larger than 4 GB
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-blockchain-beta

Changing the driver will not give a higher hash rate, you need to use more aggressive memory timings.
But 30 megahashes is a good result, 33 megahashes could only be obtained on RX 480 with Samsung memory

This is a follower of the Ethminer project. Ethminer also had no miner fees, but this miner is no longer updated and there is no support for the 30x0 series. For older video cards, for example 1070 it can be used. I read about nsfminer, this is not cheating, you can use it.
Latest release.

4454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power efficiency question on: April 09, 2021, 11:33:39 AM
Reading questions like these makes me wonder if these people did learn any basic physics at high school... Facepalm
Physics does not teach such knowledge. It is better to ask unclear questions from experienced miners.
Knowing physics will not help you choose a good power supply for your mining farm. You can buy the most expensive PSU, but this is not a guarantee of the best choice.
I can write you a list of power supplies, and if you are a Ph.D. in physics, you will not give good advice.
This knowledge can be gained from your mining experience or the experience of other miners.

You nailed it, what's physics have to do with selection of power supply for your mining farm? How many physics experts even know how to build mining rigs? Can they do it without google help or asking someone? I turned a freaking riser backward and got my gpu killed, why can't physics safe me from this? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You confirm my words. Some beginners damage their video cards in this way. You gain knowledge from your own experience, and your losses are your payment for experience.
Or you keep a close eye on those who have already made mistakes and teach other miners not to make similar mistakes.
You cannot service and repair mining farms if you are annoyed, hurry up, etc. Before turning on the mining farm, you need to check all connections and power cables.
That's why practical makes more sense than theory, every first experience will be different from what you imagined or read in the book, it's like learning how to shoot a gun in the book instead of visiting shooting range for practice lol, physics my foot 👣👣👣
Practice without knowledge of the theory can end in death, if we talk about the use of weapons. If you served in the army, then you know that before live fire, you do the same on unloaded weapons or weapons with training cartridges.
A simple example, beginners ask where to start mining?
From checking electrical outlets, if there is no ceramic base, then change it, and check the thickness of the wires in order to understand what maximum load can be used. If several more parallel outlets are connected to these wires, to which household appliances are connected, you need to know this.
4455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Distance between gpu on: April 09, 2021, 11:09:17 AM
I don't even care about building my mining rig in a stylish or good looking order like many, I just insert the risers and lay the GPUs on the table, that's all since I'm only using 4 graphic cards for mining right now, so they are marginally far away from each other
It is not right. There is no need to make a beautiful case, because it will not give additional megahashes. But any equipment works longer if it is correctly installed, the wires are neatly folded and the equipment is not afraid of accidental mechanical stress.
The mining farm is also easier to blow off dust and carry out a visual inspection.
4456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: In view that there arenīt gpus or the ones that exist have an exorbitant prices on: April 09, 2021, 11:03:35 AM
I buy video cards from miners and sell used video cards. The miner will never cheat, he will honestly tell how much time the video card mined cryptocurrency. It is dangerous to buy from second-hand dealers on websites selling used items, because they can deceive you
Get to know the miners of your city or region on social networks and trade with them.
4457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it safe to mine on a full (unpowered) x16 riser? on: April 09, 2021, 08:43:44 AM
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. And thanks for linking that btw Grin it has pretty fast shipping to where I live and for a rather reasonable price, I suppose I can populate all the slots on one of my spare MoBo I have which has only 2 x16 slots but 4 x1 slots.

I should've clarified that my current board only has 3 x16 slots, so 1x and x16 made no difference for me, just wanted to populate the slot quickly and conveniently.

be sure to use 6 pin raisers

Forgive me for another question, but would it be acceptable to adapter that 6-pin with Molex? I'm well aware of the dangers associated with SATA which isn't designed for such power output, but Molex should be fine right? If not, I'll probably just swap my new Be Quiet 1200w PSU to my 2nd dedicated rig.
If you follow the standards, then one raiser must be connected to one cable.
I use molex raisers for video cards 470,480,1060,1070 (No more than 120 watts) and other analogs and connect 2 raisers to 1 cable. I do not use adapters and connect the raiser to the power supply.
18 awg cable, no problem in 4 years.
1080 I connect by standards.
For video cards with high consumption, it is necessary to use server modules with a large number of 6-pin and 8-pin connectors.

4458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Distance between gpu on: April 09, 2021, 08:13:46 AM
This arrangement of video cards is used so that the liquid that flows out of the thermal pads when heated does not fall on the motherboard and connectors.
This will not do much harm, but it is better to keep the connectors clean. Otherwise, it may affect the rmining of video cards, and some video cards may turn off.
4459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange increase in hashrate after changing powersupply on: April 08, 2021, 02:24:44 PM
It's fake reading mate, I've experienced such before, here is what I dare you to do, reboot your PC and try mining again and let's see what hashrate your miner is showing, I bet it will be back to normal again, those hashrate are impossible for a gtx1660 super

I dare you and your RIG  Wink
After restarting my PC the hashrate went down to 31.7MH, I guess you are right but I still can't find out what brings me that higher hashrate before and I even try remembering everything other things I touched when I got that 35+mh per gpu now I wish I never switched the rig off, 😅😅
Your video cards caught shares in the first seconds of mining, so the current hash rate was overstated. It won't make you more profit.
The statistics should be watched at least after a few hours, or better after 24. When I launch the phoenix, the miner also shows an overestimated hash rate for the first few minutes, then the indicators decrease.
4460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Lowering power consumption as possible on: April 08, 2021, 02:18:15 PM
You will not be able to use a 32 GB hard drive or flash drive for Windows mining.
For each video card, I set the paging file size to 8 GB. If the mining farm consists of 6 video cards, then the swap file will be 48 GB. Therefore, I recommend 120 GB as the minimum hard drive size for Windows.
For 4 years of mining, I have tested many systems for managing farms, Hive Os, in my opinion, is one of the best.
I will not convince you of my position, but today it is more convenient to use special Linux systems for mining.
