4441  Other / Archival / Re: Are Banks afraid of Crypto adoption? on: December 17, 2021, 08:03:15 PM
They may be worried about the rise of cryptocurrencies but certainly not afraid. They are still a highly trusted entity in the financial world and are still the go-to place when people need quick loans and safekeepers of money. Also, ultimately banks can adapt to changes and create their own digital currencies and market it heavily to the people, which I expect to be received fairly by the masses. In this day and age where a lot of people wanted to be 'free,' you'd be surprised by a lot of people still enslaved by the system without them knowing it.
4442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fear is not Real. on: December 17, 2021, 07:03:44 PM
Fear is always real, especially to those who don't fully know and understand the path that they are taking. People always fear losing what is valuable to them, and money is not last on the list. Especially when they're already neck-deep into this thing and the price starts crashing down. That's fear right there, anxiously wishing for the price to do a hard rebound and save what is left from your money. You'd be lying if you tell us that you don't experience this even once.
4443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy 'bearday,' Bitcoin: It's been 3 years since BTC bottomed at $3.1K on: December 17, 2021, 04:29:43 PM
How fast the time flies.

Didn't know it has been three years since bitcoin touched the bottom of the graph from the initial $19600 bull run which started in 2017. Many of the people around were shouting 'bitcoin is dead' without knowing that it's only a short period of time before the price takes off again. This was also the time wherein alts were a great hit due to the resurgence of pumps and dumps, and this is also the time when NFTs were starting to get known.

It has been a good run. Lots of panic happened in between but we still managed to get around all of it.
4444  Economy / Economics / Re: Sharing and helping others on: December 17, 2021, 11:58:06 AM
I've a few friends which I shared ideas about cryptocurrencies just a few months ago, and showed them some examples of how useful can it be to them and how can they gain something from it. Fast forward to Q4 2021, they are now earning more than I do in crypto, and they are now the ones sharing some ideas of their own to me. It has been a mutualistic relationship so far with no intention of outshining the efforts of another, and it really is a unique experience to share knowledge and ideas to people who are willing to learn and really absorb the knowledge that you're imparting.

But of course, if we can share ideas as much as we can, just do it. No need to expect for anything in return. At the end of the day, what goes around comes around anyway, so what you did will be rewarded one way or the other.
4445  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Paymaya planning to add crypto? on: December 17, 2021, 11:01:39 AM
4446  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Crypto Exchange Franchise Profitable?. Please I need advice on: December 17, 2021, 10:11:36 AM
Some exchanges do publish their quarterly reports, IIRC. Perhaps you can check those and see whether the figures suits your liking. Of course, expect that people will still go to the main thing and not really go towards a franchise since it's just the same at the end of the day. Also, keep in mind that exchanges are constantly targeted by nefarious entities wanting to hack them and get the vault open for the goodies, so you have to have a cybersec team that is up to the task of battling these threats on the daily.
4447  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is still in a downward trend, will it last long or temporarily? on: December 16, 2021, 11:52:19 PM
As of now, the market seems to be enjoying a sideways movement. There isn't much to see on bitcoin's current price movement anyways as the volume remains low across all exchanges. Right now, our best guess is that they will wait out this holiday season before moves are made again, or it's an outright stagnant market until the first quarter of 2022.
4448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of NFTs on: December 16, 2021, 11:15:30 PM
Everything you can think of, you can find on NFTs. It's like they have specifically created this market to dump everything they can into people's mouths and make them believe that it's worth something. The idea for something insanely overpriced for normal things has become normal thanks to NFTs. I'm not hating on celebrities getting their shit on the internet and creating a market for their own "useful" stuff, but the idea of getting profits out of someone else's overpriced shit is quite the norm today, and it's just saddening that a lot of people are getting lured into the bullshit most of the time just because they trusted some people that their shit are worth something.
4449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fundamental goal of bitcoin on: December 16, 2021, 10:56:14 PM
Originally it was to provide an alternative to traditional currencies, and to make cross border transactions free from third party and huge fees. But over time, it has developed into something else, and those other options that you have added are surely included in the list. Right now, all you have written in there are part of bitcoin's role in today's time, and it's great that we are still enjoying bitcoin until today.
4450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice Scripts on: December 16, 2021, 05:57:26 PM
Dice scripts only automates your betting behavior and does not necessarily mean that you're going to win. It only puts your game into a much better and refined 'autopilot' mode with failsafes and lots of options to revert to in the event of a losing streak. Most of these providers are true to their promise, and in the end you will have to tweak the script on your own for a much better 'feel' on the game, and a lot more control on how you want your dice sessions to turn out.
4451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had bought bitcoin 10 years ago, I would have been a millionaire: Not true on: December 16, 2021, 10:31:28 AM
I believe this as well. Not everyone has the patience of a saint, and surely not everyone would have sold at a much higher price, especially if the current price already exceeded their entry price by a huge margin. Most of us here would have sold in a heartbeat especially if our investments were already x10 of what we invested, and not many people understand that. Most mindsets are weak in the long game of holding coins, because they don't fully believe in the capability of cryptocurrencies hence why if the price is right, they just give in and regret it later on.
4452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what proof must one have to identify himself as Nakamoto Satoshi? on: December 16, 2021, 08:01:03 AM
Move funds from earliest known blocks to another, newly-generated address or any other address. That's the simplest and easiest way. Signed message also works, but CSW and co found some loopholes which makes their signed message appear legitimate.

Then again, the real satoshi would probably not try to make his/her identity known, and would just stick hiding and keeping a low profile.
4453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Machine Learning truly predict Bitcoin's price? on: December 11, 2021, 01:31:25 PM
There might be a possibility, but I'm not banking on it. We have seen a lot of AIs and machine learning projects that went south real fast, and this might be the same case for AIs and algorithms that try to predict bitcoin's price: smooth sailing initially, then after a while, it will meet turbulent winds that will ultimately cause it to fail. They can claim that what they're doing is bound to hit the right targets 99% of the time, but I'll only believe if they make serious money out of the algorithm that they produced.
4454  Economy / Economics / Re: The CIA Is Deep Into Cryptocurrency, Director Reveals on: December 11, 2021, 12:58:31 PM
This makes me wary of the services, coins, and platforms that I'm dealing with. It might be just me being paranoid of something that isn't happening, but we know how the CIA works. Personally, I'm not dealing huge amounts in cryptocurrencies, nor have I tried to dabble with any illegal activities in the past. But to think that someone knows whatever the hell you're doing with crypto, your deals, your trades, etc. is enough to give me the creeps.

It's possible that they are involved for years now, and it's only now that they disclosed it because they have already established their control on these projects.
4455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin main use case now on: December 11, 2021, 12:30:06 PM
Bitcoin's main use case for me is its unrestricted, cross-border transaction capability without the need to register or submit your details to a third-party entity. It's easy to send and receive money overseas without being questioned. Plus, fees aren't based on how much you send; you can literally place a dollar or even a cent's worth of fees and, if your transaction is done when there isn't much in the mempool, it will go through without any hassle.

What you're saying is quite far from the ethos or the main use case of bitcoin. Most people see bitcoin as a means to make profit. It is only one part. Its function and capabilities still exist and that's what some people are still using it for even today.
4456  Economy / Gambling / Re: This is why I love this forum...and we should make it more powerful on: December 11, 2021, 11:53:42 AM
They will potentially lose a lot of patrons if ever this escalated even further. As I read on this thread, it appears that there were just some misunderstanding between you two, and it could have been solved rather easily if the agent knows about the code. And you're right, bitcointalk's community may not be the best, but people still rely on this forum for their gambling habits and places on where to spend their crypto. One wrong move from the platform and they'll see their revenue gone.
4457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IF I SEND BTC TO A FRIEND/FAMILY, DOES IT MEAN THEY CAN KNOW MY WALLET BALANCE? on: December 11, 2021, 11:30:25 AM
If I transfer BTC to a friend/family, they now know my wallet address, correct? Does this mean they can see all the transactions I have done from that wallet? It seems like wallet information is public except for identity, but that would be forfeited once I make a transfer, right?

All the balances and transaction history are publicly available. Your identity, however, isn't. If the ones you sent your coins to knows you personally, they can associate the address from which the funds came from to you, and they can tell that to everyone else as well or keep it to themselves. If you trust the ones who you will send your money to, I think this should be a non issue anymore.
4458  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bloomberg: Gcash Considers Cryptocurrency Trading and Stocks Platform on: December 11, 2021, 11:04:23 AM
GCoin Cheesy

4459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin full integration in payment systems on: December 11, 2021, 10:32:48 AM
It will take a long time before bitcoin is fully integrated in payment systems. For now, we will have to rely on third party payment processors for bitcoin, until the world is confident to accept payments with bitcoin directly. There are still tons of issues when accepting bitcoin transactions like the confirmation times and fees. Until such time that these are solved (LN provides an alternative, but not necessarily a solution), we will just have to make do with what we have right now.
4460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another pump and dump manipulation on: December 11, 2021, 09:36:06 AM
A lot of such coins are still existing and people are still buying into them with hopes of making it big in their trades. Red flags should already be raised when the devs feels shady, and people should be wary of buying into such projects since we never know when will the rug be pulled.

I know it's really tempting to buy in to a pump and dump coin, but the risks are insanely greater than the reward that it's really hard to make a profit off of it unless you're one of the insiders, or you're just lucky.
