Thanks for the update. - Later we found out that Patrick's email server was compromised, and since he is in our mailing list, all emails sent to info@bitcoinica.com were delivered to his compromised email account. I normally don't go in for mud slinging, but Patrick has history. This is "Patrick the self-proclaimed security expert"? This is "Patrick who released all the emails of Intersango's customer base"? - How hard is it to secure an email server? Jeez, the days of ten sendmail hacks a month are long behind us.
- Again: emails are postcards; can all you supposed security experts stop treating them as if they are secure point-to-point communications? Why wasn't gpg used for these reset emails?
- What raving lunatic has a password reset system going to a mailing list?
- A "security expert" with a compromised email server doesn't sound good to me. In all the time he was penetration testing all the other exchanges, he couldn't have done a bit to secure his own servers?
- How long has this server been compromised? Is it the Intersango email server? Have all Intersango communications been compromised too?
- Is this more than just an email server? What other services were running on this compromised machine?
- We are now working on a settlement plan. Patrick is in charge of the claim page.
You'll forgive me if, given the current situation, that that doesn't inspire me with confidence. So much so, that I think we should all start asking for considerably more detail about how Intersango is organised internally? How much is in the hot wallet there? How is that hot wallet secured? Is Intersango VPS hosted as well? Is it Rackspace too? http://bgp.he.net/dns/intersango.com#_whoishttp://bgp.he.net/dns/intersango.com#_ipinfohttp://bgp.he.net/dns/intersango.com#_dnsAt least you can find who they use for hosting, administrative contact and from where they send their emails... As for the wallet, only they can answer

Who is Don Harrold?
The guy who teached me it's possible to buy Albanian socks with Bitcoin! Yeah, this is most useful info in all this movie. At least Bitcoin is spelled correctly, instead of Bitcorns for example. Albanian socks for Bitcorns!I prefer Carrots. Bitcorns are not good for my teeth,

"hookusmoi@REDACTED" : 11.32674799, I find more hilarious all this crying over $50 WTF There, here's mine: "psykick.ruhyn@REDACTED" : 30.08162842, I took it all out, but if I hadn't take it out before it crashed and burned, I would write it off as the cost of being stupid and trusting a random stranger on the internet. Would be a cheap lesson, after all, one that I may haven't still learned yet

Reformat your machine from scratch, don't touch warezinstall a linux distro, use an encrypted wallet and make sure you understand RPC settings!
Now should be better. wow really, someone that left rpc open would somehow be protected if they used linux? No. Of course not. But it would for sure treat his warez addiction, if he has one I didn't strike the part where it says he must understand RPC settings, did I? And his RPC wansn't open per se. It had a username and password, alebeit a weak one. Also he didn't say if the RPC port was forwarded in the router, which it might not be. I suggested that it could be the problem, but there is no evidence. More inclined to think it's malware for the time being. My whole point on asking about RPC was to try and save the dude some time on a OS reinstall that might not be needed if RPC proved to be the problem.

I don't have a drivers license nor do I want/need one. I have a chauffeur "Home, James. I have an evening appointment to keep with the bitcointalk.org forum members. Don't forget to step on it." Why would that be needed? Ever heard of 3G internet? Too slow. You don't have 4G? Also, I find it easier to type when I am stationary. Why would I want 4G if there's only 25% of the country covered by it? I don't throw money out just because You have a chauffeur and you're not throwing out money just because? Having a chauffer != Paying for it

If they offer something for free, the product they're selling is you.
Yes, they're selling you to advertisers. They openly admit that. That's the whole point of free bitcoin sites. So is facebook, and look at the sheeple joining them in flocks every day.

I can also do paypal.Just ask for you to pay whatever fee, they charge to send and receive the payment.
Open a thread on the Marketplace. On the Currency Exchange subforum. Just don't sell to newbies who'll most likely screw you. I'm sure there will be some respectable member there willing to buy your bitcoins with Paypal. In doubt if someone is trusted, ask me and I'll take a look

I'm only an employee at Acme Coins (acmecoins.com) and when I woke this morning and logged on, I noticed some strange transactions. Since everybody else was still sleeping, I called Rackspace and had the website shut down. Then I went to AcmeCoinTalk, the forum for said company, and posted what I did. I have yet to post on my official blog or put up a page on the official website because...
You forgot step 2: Post the drama thread, divert attention from the real problem and walk away with almost everybody patting you on the back and telling you what a great guy you are. Are you implying this was STAGED No way ! Still no official word from Intersango. Gotta love denying responsibility ... Not implying shit, dude. Was just filling the elipse in Phinn's post, nothing more.

how do you come up with these?
If I had to guess I would say: Medical Marijuna But he doesn't live in Cali, so that's out of the question

Ok..How long does it usually take to receive?
Some seconds most of the time. Waiting for confirmations is another matter, but you'll see the funds unconfirmed in a few seconds. Right now they have 1 confirmation and could already be spent, alebeit with some risk that the transaction could be reversed by a fork on the blockchain.

yeh all green..whats the label?Do I need your label?Or do I add our address, then my label?
Only my address. The label is for you to insert, as a way for you to regonize the address. It's not mandatory. But I would advise to always insert a label. Imagine that 5 months from now you make a mistake and you send bitcoins to my address as a result of that mistake. With no label you would be kind of SOL, with a label you would say, Hey, it's psy's address, let me ask him for my Bitcoins back. BTW, 1 BTC arrived just now Thank you very much!
