4441  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 17, 2019, 11:41:02 PM
I could see decaying airdropped merit, though I'm not convinced of it currently. If it was done, it may be best to do something like this:
 - Your current activity score as of <whenever this change would be done> is recorded, which I'll call EPOCH_ACTIVITY.
 - Your merit score is defined as max(0, AIRDROPPED_MERIT-(CURRENT_ACTIVITY-EPOCH_ACTIVITY)/7) + EARNED_MERIT.
In this case all active users will lose their airdropped merits at a same rate.
The rate of losing airdropped merits can be a function of earned merits in the last X days too.
For example, if someone had received 500 airdropped merits and has also earned 500 merits doesn't lose airdropped merits. Because this user deserved those airdropped merits.
4442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me understand how to read the blockchain transaction history.. on: December 17, 2019, 10:33:14 PM
Didn't understand why this is the case. If the sender pays from different addresses, should the system not make each into a seperate transaction? What is the cut-off for deciding which sends are consolidated into one transaction?
We can have several inputs and outputs in a single transaction.

Quote
I'm fascinated by the fact that we can set the fee. Suppose I set it to the minimum (or zero...?) is the transaction guarenteed to go through (with the delay)? Thanks.
The fee should be higher than zero, so the transaction is included in a block.
You can use the link below for the calculation of the required fee.

Does anyone know how merit ratio is calculated?
As it is said on the website, merit ratio is Merit sent/received ratio. I checked some profiles. That doesn't seem to be true.
For example, Theymos has sent 11850 merits and has received 6273 merits. So merit ratio should be 11850/6273= 1.89. But the merit ratio is 0.84

There are many legendary members that are wasting their time in altcoin bounties without any income.
The issue is not their income; I couldn't care less if these altcoins all turn out to be worthless (and most do). The issue is the spam they create in pursuit of said income.
Yes, But the lower their income is, the less they spam.
If there is no income and there is no benefit in spamming, they will leave the forum. They are here only to join campaigns, spam and earn money.

Can you imagine the amount of merit selling will happen once theymos will drop a bomb for something like this?
If Theymos decides to make changes, I don't think he announces anything before that.
4445  Other / Meta / Re: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit on: December 17, 2019, 06:09:13 PM
There is no doubt the merit system is more in favor of old members. Now they are benefiting because they knew the forum earlier.  I expect this to be finally changed (I don't think it happens in near future). I don't think 5 years later, some users have a special privilege only because they registered earlier. Theymos will decide. All airdropped merits may be removed in a second, they might be decayed over a year or there will be a complicated formula.

Anyway, now thanks to signature campaign managers, there isn't a big problem. A legendary member who hasn't earn any merit is not qualified for participating in a good signature campaign while there are users with member and full member ranks that are participating in good campaigns.  There are many legendary members that are wasting their time in altcoin bounties without any income. Now having an account with a higher rank doesn't increase your chance of participating in campaigns.

Look at the difference between first position to second position for the latest contest results it looks very far more than 120 btc and i do agree if the statistics belong to the whales and i think this is first time to me seeing those wager statistics in the contest but seems it will be the last big wager i had seen because i didn't see big wager again appears at the current contest

Big wager can come anytime even in the last seconds, that's the common thing I can see on wagering contest.
Those who have smaller bankroll are wagering earlier because they need to make more bets with lower bet amount and whales come in the last hours/minutes with bigger bet amount.
Of course it does not happen every day, whales can come anytime they wish.

Those who wager in the last minutes try to win the contest with the minimum wagering amount needed. They usually wager a little more than the second place.
In the previous contest, the winner has wagered 125 BTC. The purpose of that gambler wasn't only winning the contest. He had likely wagered that amount during 24 hours.

I hope there will be reaction from the staff soon and probably some good changes preventing this shit from happening again as well.
Perhaps evil points can help us.
After all of these accounts are banned, the evil points of IP (or IPs) associated with these accounts will increase significantly. Then they will have to pay for registering new accounts.
4448  Other / Meta / Re: To the attention of the Mods and Admins, account farms abusing bounty. on: December 17, 2019, 02:32:30 PM
The fact is that there are more than 400 alt accounts who  posted in the thread.

And this number is increasing very fast.
113 out of last 500 created accounts have made a post in this thread.

All links to profiles of those spammers should be edited. They are now not working.

4449  Other / Meta / Re: Reflex Token paying for comment in their ANN thread on: December 16, 2019, 07:12:46 PM
I had reported the topic yesterday with a link to this thread. The thread isn't trashed yet nor the OP of that thread get banned. I'm really surprised what are the rules for it. They are abusing the system; trying to get bumped the thread as well as having impression from the investors I guess.
Can an admin/mod tell us why no action is taken yet on this?
Do not expect the OP of that thread to get banned. The OP can only get negative trust. There have been many ANN thread with fake volume. I have seen some thread that were deleted. But usually, they are not trashed.
4450  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | The Honest Online Casino | Daily Presents + $5000 Christmas Raffle on: December 16, 2019, 09:27:19 AM

So, the house edge is 6.7%

Why should play a game with 6.7% house edge?

Still got surprised? You can also see it on other sites as well having that roullette game consisting of 14 tiles of red and black then 1x green color. Its normal for games like these to have that level of HE.
Lots of our players love it because you can hit 14x very easily compared to 36x

Anyone loves this game know nothing about odds, winning chance, house edge, etc.

Assume that the odds for gold coin is 36x,
In this case we should have 37 coins, 18 of coins should be red, 16 of them should be silver and one coin should be gold. If so, the house would be:

HE(If the odds for gold is 36x)=1-((1/37)*36)=0.027

So, if there are 37 coins, the house edge is 2.7% while in a game with 15 coins, the house edge is 6.7%
I cannot understand why users should prefer 15 coins to 37 coins.

As I said, only those who know nothing about house edge love your game.
4451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [CFNP] Educational giveaway | guess first Bitcoin Block in 2020 [9.5 mBTC] on: December 15, 2019, 10:00:23 PM
I agree, the Merit requirement wasn't the best to support Newbies participating here and for the next time I'll see how I can improve it. I'm in doubt that a general "everyone can participate here" will work. I've seen so many giveaways failing because cheaters destroyed them. It's extremely difficult to spot if users are alts when they have not many posts.
However, I'll try to find a creative way how we can make fairer rules next time.  Smiley

Requiring participants to have certain number of merits was the best thing you could do and you did it. There should be a requirement, a minimum post count, a minimum activity or minimum merits. I think minimum merits is the best option and I personally cannot find a better solution.

As you said, there are some competitions in "games and round" board. Some owners don't bother themselves to make a rule. Some of them say that using multiple accounts are not allowed, but actually they do nothing to fight multiple accounts. Most of those competitions are due to promotion and advertising purposes and owners don't have any issue with multiple accounts. Because multiple accounts help their thread be more active and this is exactly what they want. But your giveaway is different from them. You are paying the reward with your own money, want to have a fair competition and have to make a rule to avoid cheaters.
4452  Other / Meta / After submitting a report...... on: December 15, 2019, 08:57:57 PM
The "submit" button when reporting a post navigates the user to the board that contains that post.
In my opinion, it would be more convenient if that button navigate the user to the post that was reported.

Sometimes, while I am reading posts in a thread, I decide to report a post. Reporting the post causes me to leave the thread and I have to find the thread again.
Sometimes I want to report two consecutive posts. After I report the first one and I open the thread again, I forget which post I reported.

I know the solution is very simple and I can open the report page in a new tab. But most of the times I forget that. I can also use  "back" button after reporting. Despite of these, I think it would be better and more convenient if the report button navigates the user to the reported post not to the board contains the post. At least, it can save more time.

4453  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | The Honest Online Casino | Daily Presents + $5000 Christmas Raffle on: December 15, 2019, 06:29:35 PM
I couldn't find anything about the chance of winning, the house edge and procedure of determining the winning color in roulette

But there are 15 coins. 7 of coins are red, 7 of coins are silver and one coin is gold.

So the winning chance should be:

Red and silver: 7/15
Gold: 1/15

The house edge can be calculated as follows:

If red and silver coins are considered:
HE=1-((7/15)*2))=0.067

If the gold coin is considered:
HE=1-((1/15)*14))=0.067

So, the house edge is 6.7%

Why should play a game with 6.7% house edge?
4454  Other / Meta / Re: Post count issues going in forum? on: December 15, 2019, 03:19:51 PM
If you have posts or topic made in Serious discussions board, then that's the case since posts on that board are not counted/

- Posts in Serious Discussion only activate a potential-activity period. They do not increase your post count.
Seems that you misunderstood the OP.
The issue is that the post count is higher than number of posts made.
4455  Other / Meta / Re: Post count issues going in forum? on: December 15, 2019, 02:55:47 PM
Obviously, it's a bug. Now, at the time I am making in this post, there are 2257 posts in your post history while your post count is 2259.

4456  Other / Meta / Re: Reflex Token paying for comment in their ANN thread on: December 15, 2019, 02:35:22 PM
Here is what Theymos says:

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.
4457  Other / Meta / Re: Is this possible to know? on: December 15, 2019, 01:22:53 PM
You can check number of received merits in BPIP or Loyce.club.  Then it's easy to understand how that user has achieved that rank.

Example:
According to Loyce.club, you have received 290 merits until December 13, 2019. Also, according to your Merit summary, you have received 7 merits after December 13. So, you have received 297 merits totally. As, you have 307 merits, you have 10 airdropped merits.
You have ranked up from a member to a senior member.
4458  Other / Meta / Re: History of local boards on: December 14, 2019, 06:28:43 PM
I am sure there are still some errors in creation dates of local boards.
Given Ids, there is no doubt German board has been created after French board. Spanish board has been also created after French board.
Compare Ids of Polski and Greek boards. Their birthday in your list are 20/5/2013 and 30/5/2013 while their Ids are 142 and 120 respectively.
There should be some other errors too.
4459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How to export private keys from MEW 5 now ? on: December 14, 2019, 06:03:17 PM
What happened with myetherwallet is a reminder for people who put all of their money on online wallet or web wallet. Not only about wallets for Ethereum and ERC20 tokens but also for the other crypto currency wallets. It is very risky when you depend totally on third party who fully control your funds.
There is no problem with Ethereums and tokens that had been deposited in Myetherwallet before. You can still access your wallet by your private keys.
Any way, I agree that having the private key is really needed.
4460  Other / Meta / Re: Do we need a separate sub board for Lightning wallets / nodes? on: December 13, 2019, 01:02:42 PM
This has been discussed before in June: Lightning Network board
And there's a few positive feedback from members but nothing from admin/mods.

One relevant reply from forum Staff: malevolent
Typically, new boards (child-boards) are created when there is adequate demand for them. Right now, I'm seeing five LN-related topics on the 1st page in Development & Technical Discussion, zero such topics on the 2nd page, four topics on the 3rd page, three on the 4th, and two on the 5th, and there are forty topics per every page. Post more LN-related content if you have something meaningful to say or ask, and in time a new child-board will be created.

I just checked "Development & Technical Discussion" board.
Currently, number of threads that are related to lightening network are even lower than the time malevolent had made that post. So, such a sub-board won't be created in the near future.
