You really think a 25B error coin wouldn't sell for 32B at the current price, or any other price?

Obviously It did. Check the link in my signature. It's what I do. My point was my view on things. You can't look at it as a $5,000 loss you have to look at it as a 7B gain. You're missing the point.

No, you're missing the point. The coin was worth 32B so it was and still is a 0B gain.

There is no reason I can see you couldn't have sold it today for 32B just as easily.

Was it worth 32B yesterday? Today? Tomorrow? Next year? In 10 years?

Do you also know what the price of B will be today, tomorrow, in 10 years?

Maybe I should just consult you from now on prior to doing anything. How about this I paid $3,000 for the coin and sold it for $21,000 is that better? Do you work better with fiat numbers?

If Bitcoin goes to $100,000 each do you still think it will fetch a 7B premium?

If these coins have a dollar-denominated premium then it would be worth more than 32B today.

Anyway: yes, I absolutely think an original 25B misprint  would be worth $3.2M if Bitcoin goes to 100k. This is like the equivalent of an 1893 Morgan Dollar we are talking about.

1892 Morgan Dollar is few thousands at most and you are talking about 700k premium.

As someone who was smallish numismatic dealer 10 years ago, I can't remember any coin or banknote that comes close to that value. And I've sold a banknote that has only 26 known pieces circulation. It went for 5 000$.

http://cointrackers.com/blog/11/most-valuable-coins/

100k a coin of course means Bitcoin will have a money supply in the same ballpark as the USD, at a hypothetical market cap of 2.1 trillion.

We are talking about less than double face value for a coin that will be extremely rare - I think about 500 25 BTC coins are still funded.

Too much hassle and risk for eventual gain. At those prices you need collector, you need very loaded collector, and you need collector specially interested in collecting physical bitcoins all in one.

Lot of ifs..

Anyone else getting the 'Told You So!' 'treatment' in work today?

Bitcoins 50% decline on front page of BBC. Can't even be bothered to answer most of them now.....just confirms my thoughts that we are all still early adopters and any price is a good price at the moment.

Not if you tell them that Bitcoin crashes are part of the game when you are talking them about Bitcoin. You cover yourself so they can't look smart ever  Grin

Them seeing with their eyes how much your lifestyle has improved by just throwing a couple of grands to BTC at some point is an even more effective strategy.

I'm not there yet to be honest, hopefully in 2014. I've cashed out only 2100$ from Bitcoin the other day, still about 1200$ more than I invested in it in March  Grin

Could buy myself a house now wif I'd sell everything but obviously won't Smiley

Bolded is definitely important part. As bigger BTC price would be, the lower the premium will be.

18k profit is good one mate, 7 btc too.

I'm happy now to be in position when any move is fine as long as it doesn't go in full retarded crash mode.
4471  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 18, 2013, 03:08:50 PM
I decided to not play with leverage shorting for some other reasons and not loss of 1000$ in 2 shorting trades I made. But if I didn't I'd be shorting last night definitely and it would be all but stupid. You could cut crash in the air few hours before it happened last night.

So, it is completely irrelevant how much is bitcoin going up annually if you do a shorting in right time for short time. 1000 shorted coins last night could buy me a house at this moment.

Yep, and if my mom had engines she would be a Lambo.

Seriously: Bitcoin leveraged shorting is the most reckless gamble one can do. Please try and then report bad how it went. Just one hour too late to close your position and you are broke.

In bear market and we are definitely in bear market leverage shorting is not big problem at all. It is gamble just as it is the gamble to hold your coins from 1250 to 450, probably even less if you don't intend to ever sell but intend to cut your losses fast if you are shorting.

When time is right and last 2 weeks was always a good time as we were obviously in bear market if one had balls, the award of shorting was always bigger than risk of doing it.

I am so angry, I missed buying at 400, still waiting for my F$%#%$ deposit to be credited !!!!

Me too. Virtexed again.

After waiting a month and a half for account verification, they turn a "2-3 business day" deposit into a week.

When I deposited $10k in my bank in October, I was hoping to get 50 more coins. When prices surged in November, I was hoping this long-anticipated correction would give me the chance to buy ay least 20 more coins before the next rise.

Too bad. Virtex used to be such a good exchange. I even bragged them up in these forums last spring because of the speed and ease of deposits. Now they seem to have gone to hell.

Virtexed again.

Be patient, you might buy there again, I'm not sure this is yet over.

800, 500, 2500 would be nice. Bitcoin needs some character testing Tongue

I haven't sold on time though, could and should do it much earlier.

Pardon me while I fantasize about having sold at $1163 and then leveraging 4:1 short to $382.

Hehe, yeah, but I started leverage shorting at 870 and got scared and lost 4500$ while it turned away from me in one bounce. Than sold everything above 700, some even below but couldn't do those earlier as I haven't got them before selling DigitalCoins in it's pump.

Haven't done 4:1 shorting today though, traded only with my own money.

It amazes me how difficult some people find it in life to give credit where it is due. I guess it's just a lot of embarrassment kicking in now for the bulls who did nothing but mock bears for the past 2 months for attempting to be rational about the situation we were currently in. If anything this recent rally has taught me who in this thread is the day dreamers, the shit talkers and those who are blatantly blind based on their investment. Bitcoin does attract a strange group of folk, I must say.

I'll mock bears trolls all the time. I am writing here as bull yet this crash caught me 100% in fiat except btc I have invested in some stuff where I couldn't sell, and I made nice profit today, both in btc and in dollars. So I am certainly not buy and hold type though extremely bullish for 2014.

But those 20 posts "Bitcoin is dead", "Ponzi is done" etc, etc bears as well as those trolls who post crap just to cause people to turn their minds and help them fill their bids will always get it from me.

And Rpietila will get it specially as one of the biggest manipulators and idiots here.

Getting 'caught' 100% in fiat as such a raging bull as yourself sound like a canary in the bullshitmine.

Whatever makes you happy bro Cheesy

I've sold too, too, too early on December 6th after catching absolute bottom with part of my bids. Won't do it again, I'm losing so much money selling too early, even if I think it's just a bounce.
