What I object to is that you are pretending to be helpful, but you are really just trying to make money from the clicks.

Here is how much you get from visiting those sites:

 0.0050BTC http://freebitcoins.appspot.com
 0.0001BTC http://oscry.com
 0.0001BTC http://dailybitcoins.org
 0.0001BTC http://www.coinad.com

That's a total of 0.0053BTC or $0.05. Sorry, it wasn't worth a nickel to visit those sites, especially because you can't do anything with only 0.0053BTC. Anyway, if someone wants get some free BTC, albeit a trivial amount, they should only go to http://freebitcoins.appspot.com (and directly from this link). It is not an ad site like the others whose payouts are comparatively insignificant.

Ya, one needs watch out what links they click, on this forum or anywhere. I avoid anything that doesn't look like it goes
directly to the desired site and instead goes to some reddit page or is hidden behind some coinurl or other redirection thing...

About the trivial amount thing you mention...  well no one, I hope, is suggesting that this is a viable source of income which
will allow one to give up their regular job.   Cheesy
( then again, who knows what 0.0053 BTC might be worth several years from now. )

When I first found out about Bitcoin I wanted to try it out as soon as possible; I am sure many other newbies are the same.

Signing up to some exchange or using some of the other methods for buying bitcoins can be a hassle, and can have fees higher
than someone just wanting to try things out would like.

So using these few free bitcoins sites can be a good way of trying things out... it is exciting to get that first payment to ones
wallet... and if other newbies are like me they will be just as excited to gather enough together to send them off to a friend
or a worthy charity or the like, in order to try sending as well as receiving.

And getting new users excited about Bitcoin and getting them using it right away can only be good for Bitcoin as a whole.
That is why I maintain the [somewhat] official list of free bitcoin sites ( which maybe deserves a sticky all its own instead
of being buried inside the "New to BitCoin? Start here!" sticky, since it seems every few days someone else decides to start
up their own list of free bitcoin sites, and often they contain entries of a dubious nature ).

TL;DR interfering with the free market = initiating violent force

Rarity doesn't seem to have a problem with that...

I wonder how many loyal subjects will adhere to the regulated block chain as opposed to the free market block chain that will certainly continue to exist.

Businesses who engaged in such activity would be severely punished.

Not just punished but severely punished.

And no doubt it wouldn't be just those who failed to obey all the proper laws and regulations who would
suffer, as hir views on psychology seem to suggest.  Anyone deemed to be abnormal ( the government
being the sole arbiter no doubt ) would perhaps be considered to be possessed by demons and simply
exterminated...  no need for things like psychology and psychologists.

Strange, I got mine just 6 hrs after I did the captchas.
Received them from 1DdzSNTLCuTTiA2gPRz51qvc8dvJZ7X2rN

I still haven't received anything at the address I set up to test this out.

Is this your site Taz?

Has anyone else gotten anything from here?
4466  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What tool do you use to overclock? on: July 28, 2012, 03:57:37 PM
You can overclock past 920 with MSI Afterburner (or whatever the limit is you currently see). All you need to do is "unlock" MSI Afterburner to allow for overclocking/underclock past the predetermined limits.

- Go to the folder where Afterburner is installed. For Win7, I believe it's /Program Files (x86)/MSI Afterburner
- Find the .CFG file and edit it with notepad or other text editor
- Scroll to the bottom and find: "UnofficialOverclockingEULA ="
- Change to (without quotations, no period at end of sentence): "UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it"
- Find: "UnofficialOverclockingMode = 0"
- Change to (without quotations): "UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1"
- Save .CFG file and close
- Restart Afterburner and you should now be able to change core and memory clock higher or lower than before.

Ah yes. I have been using it so long now I forgot about that part.

It's almost like it's in a psychologist's business interest to promote the idea of an "elusive phantom" lurking around every corner, who people will be extremely fearful of because they sound so realistic.

Exactly this.  Why trust someone who is just trying to make money off your fears and a false promise of feeling better when there are better, more real solutions out there?

By now everybody figured out this is a sock puppet. Give it up and get a lawyer.

Your paranoia is disturbing, your accusations against me are even more baseless than your witch hunt against Zhou Tong.  This is why we need government involved in this, every witch hunt will always find new victims and I guess I'm up!

That's right, because governments never engage in witch hunts and always act in the best interest of the people they serve.   Cheesy

Why is someone with your views even interested in Bitcoin?  It is largely about moving away from such oppressive and corrupt centralized systems.

4468  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Get Free Bitcoins! on: July 27, 2012, 09:18:25 PM
I take free to mean "without cost or payment".

I don't have to pay my employer any money to work for him... does that mean
the money he gives me at the end of each month is free.     Cheesy

I will guess that we will have to agree to disagree on what we believe the word free to mean.

So you are saying that money my employers gives me 'is' free then?

Actually I think you know you are wrong and just don't want to admit it.

And you are right when you say, "nothing can be considered free seeing as everything requires time."

But I think a lot of people would find the process of logging on to a website; inputting their btc address;
filling out a captcha thingy; and then pressing a 'send' button to be not much of an imposition, and so
might consider any Bitcoin gained at such a site to be "reasonably" free.  You are asking for much more
than that before you give out any btc.

And the idea about transferring the work to someone else doesn't make what you are offering free
either, the way I see it... there is still a cost.

"Whore out my family and friends to do the work for me?  I gets 2 bee bitcon pimp?!  Woot!  Where do I sign up?"

Its free in the fact it requires not monetary contribution to obtain these Bitcoins.

And how much time would someone have to put in before they got the minimum payout?

Time is money.
4472  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Get Free Bitcoins! on: July 27, 2012, 07:51:55 PM
This is a brand new site allowing you to get Bitcoins for free by completing surveys, trial offers and purchasing certain products. You can also get Bitcoins my referring your friends and family to the site!

If you have to work for it, it isn't free.     Tongue

Create a new subforum dedicated to Bitcoinica so those of us with no stake in the issue can avoid having to read about it? Smiley

+1.  If subforums are expensive I will pledge 1 BTC towards it.

It could be a subform of the off topic subforum.

Add more suggestions if you like.

I voted the rewrite option thinking that I may be the only one, and was surprised to see it ahead. I have reason to believe that this is, and has been, in the works.

"Rewrite Bitcoinica code slightly and repeat scam on future newbies" If you believe that this is a sustainable or viable option, then you are full of shit.

But you are okay with the other options, like blaming the Germans for instance?

BitcoinCaptcha is just like a lot of them:
Give bitcoin address, fill out captcha.
The difference is you can use it repeatedly, as much as you want.
It pays out when the pot is filled, about once in 24hrs.

Thanks, I'll check it out... which may take a while apparently.

It's been days and I haven't received anything, whats going on???

The pool is empty and we're waiting for it to be filled. Don't worry though, your contributions are saved until such a time where everyone can get paid.

I misunderstood this at first, thinking someone actually hadn't been paid.
It's just there as a measure of honesty, something may go wrong in future.
I got paid every time at around 10-11pm GMT.
I'll try it again today a few times to see if it works out.

It's been much more than 24hrs since I tried it and I have yet to see any payment.

MSI Afterburner.  If you reach a point where you can't set it any higher, save those setting, shut it down, and then restart it, and you will be able to move it higher.
4478  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: free bitcoin each five minutes on: July 26, 2012, 01:14:44 AM
Great idea but 5 mBTC is not even that much Sad

0.4 mBTC now it seems.

0.0004 BTC.  That's like ~0.34 cents ( one third of a cent ) at the current BTC price?
For five minutes work.  ~4.1 cents per hour.
And it says *up to* that amount.  What is the minimum?

Free?  Maybe for someone who doesn't value their time.    Cheesy
